Camis, Skinny Jeans and Rebecca Minkoff Jumbo Love Bag | Weekday Wear Link Up

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, wearing a bunch of new things! Two new spring cami tops my mum bought me back in the H&M winter sales, with jeans and my new-to-me Rebecca Minkoff jumbo Love bag.

Why I wore it:

So happy this day arrived - vaccination day! I'd been on the waitlist at Queensland health for over 9 weeks waiting for under 40s to be eligible, and for the vaccines to finally arrive in Australia. When I got that email that I was eligible to book a vaccine I was so pleased! In fact as this post goes live I've already got my second Pfizer dose. (Or Pfiiizer if you're a fan of Jimmy Rees like I am!)

You can register here if you're in Queensland to get your vaccine via Qld Health: https://www.vaccinebookings.health.qld.gov.au/registerforvaccination/. Or try hotdoc for a GP vaccine appointment, or your local pharmacy.

Because it was such a nice day we decided to make the most of it. I was booked into the Southbank hub so hubby took the kids to the playground while I got my shot and then we met up and had a wander around the museum after. Was such a good day!

Thought it was the perfect chance to wear this cute floral print cami that mum picked up for me in the H&M winter sale - just $5! I couldn't quite figure out the tie though, better luck next time maybe! I added the kimono for a little shoulder coverage in the sun and because it was easy to drop down for the vaccine.

First wearing of the Rebecca Minkoff Jumbo bag too, perfect for fitting all my essentials and my water bottle inside.

Last worn: earrings, crochet trim kimono, diamond necklace, heart necklace, grey skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers. First time I've worn the floral knot front cami as it is a recent gift from my mum, and first time I've worn the Rebecca Minkoff cobalt jumbo Love bag as it is a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearcrochet trim kimono and maxi dress, grey skinny jeans worn 30 ways, New Balance sneakers and dress.

What I wore:

Jacket: no label white drape jacket
Necklace: Lovisa mixed texture beaded necklace

JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagRebecca Minkoff quilted jumbo Love bag in cobalt

Why I wore it:

Another new cami! I like this one as the cami as I don't have a lot of mint in my wardrobe and it's made with 55% recycled plastic. I'd been talking to a lady the night before who mentioned that some recycled fabrics aren't very breathable or comfortable so I was a little concerned. Luckily because this is a loose cami, it was a delight to wear! As I've given more than a few of the kids ruined, torn or stained clothes to the H&M recycling program I like the idea that I might be wearing some of those recycled fabrics, although I know it's unlikely.

This felt a little dressed up for the school run, sports for the kids and a playdate, but it was nice for a change - I've only worn this necklace to the office before. I wore my old fave black ballet flats as once I added the necklace to this outfit, I knew my Converse would just be too casual!

The only thing I didn't like about this outfit is that the cami looks a bit long in the pics, petite girl problems! Maybe I should have tucked it into the jeans, but I still loved wearing this though.

How You Can Wear It:

Spring means light coverups instead of full jackets, and bringing out the spaghetti strap tops like these cute camis. You can't go wrong with jeans either!

Jeans, Leather Jackets and Colourful Knits With Balenciaga Bags | Weekday Wear Link Up

Back in July, winter had truly arrived in Brisbane and the coldest morning in years had us all shivering, and me reaching for all the cosy layers! A leather jacket is a winter staple, as is a good knit. These thin marl knits are perfect for layering under to stay cosy, and they are cute and colourful too!

What I wore:

Necklace: Roie Designs multi chain layered beaded necklace
Jumper: SES fashions mustard marle knit jumper
JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagBalenciaga first bag in 2006 Blue India

Why I wore it:

I thought a necklace was a nicer fit for this outfit than a scarf - the chevron print of the jeans can be tricky to wear prints with. With it being just 15 degrees (Celsius) on the way to drop my son off at school though I really regretted not adding a scarf to this! It was thankfully a day we didn't have to be outside too much for, with indoor sports for the little one after school drop off and then sports again for both kids in the evening after school pickup. By then I had added a scarf to my outfit though, such a chilly night!

Surprisingly I haven't worn this mustard marl knit with the chevron print jeans before! I thought it was a nice combo, and even with a layer on under the knit the looser fit of this leather jacket means it accommodated the knit nicely. With the black jacket and black jeans I really liked the added black with the necklace - this one hasn't been worn in so long, it was definitely overdue a wear!

The fun turquoise Balenciaga bag was a great pop with the black and mustard too, a nice way to add just a little more colour to my outfit.

Other ways to wearblack moto leather jacket and maxi skirtmustard marl knit and pencil skirt, chevron print skinny jeans and pink tee, Balenciaga first bag and shorts.

Why I wore it:

This outfit was even more colourful than the one above with the bright jeans and knit. And this time around, I learnt my lesson and wore a scarf!

Again I wore another thin marl knit - this cobalt blue one looks great with the magenta jeans, I really like blues with these jeans! And the geometric print tassel scarf seemed like a nice match with the cobalt. The black leather jacket has some blue and grey floral print on it too, but I think it's so subtle the prints work well together. Went even more colourful with the big purple Balenciaga work bag. It wasn't a day I had to carry around a lot with me for - a couple errands, the school run and a vet visit again for Cooper. I just felt like carrying this big bag again as I love it and it's so rarely worn nowadays. It used to be a staple for working in the office, back before we had the hybrid ways of working that mean we mostly work from home now!

Last worn: printed leather jacket, geometric tassel scarf, cobalt marl knit, magenta jeans, Converse (above), Balenciaga purple work bag.

How You Can Wear It:

Picking some colourful knits can make cold weather dressing more cheerful - even if you do layer them with darker neutrals like the black leather jackets. You can let the knit be a pop of colour like the first outfit, or pair it with colourful jeans and a scarf like in the second outfit.

Metallic Tops With Skinny Jeans, Chloe Ethel and a Touch of Red

Bringing a little sparkle to staple winter jeans outfits with metallic tops. Added some colour with pops of red too.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in scarlett marle
NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maji metallic tank in soft green and silver
JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagChloe small Ethel bag in light khaki

Why I wore it:

This was a fun day! Last day of the school holidays meant taking the kids out to a playground of their choice for the day. While it was a cold day it was quite nice in the sun watching the kids play. I even considered taking my cardigan off a few times!

Thought this metallic tank would look nice with the chevron print jeans. Never looks metallic in the pics but it does have a silver metallic thread running through it that makes it feel a little more special than a plain grey tank each time I wear it. Still felt this outfit was lacking something though so added the red cardigan for a little extra warmth and colour with the neutrals. A bright cardi like this over neutrals is an easy way to add a lot of colour to an outfit, and I think this addition really made the outfit.

Wore my Chloe Ethel bag again. It's on heavy repeat since I got it! While it has pretty statement gold hardware I still think it worked with the silver tank, and it had plenty of space for snacks for the kids and all our water bottles too.

Another fun day out with the kids! There's a miniature railway here in the Bayside but it was closed with the first lockdown in March 2020 and just hadn't reopened with fluctuating restrictions and them taking advantage of the downtime to make some improvements to the station and tracks. We were thrilled they announced their reopening and we could finally take the kids - they would ask every time we passed when it was starting up again. It was really busy with everyone taking advantage of the grand reopening but mask rules were still in place from our 3 cases the week before and it was back to 0 cases so we felt safe. (Note that I took off my mask for the pic on the trail we walked along afterwards as we were outdoors and there was no-one there except my family, so it was allowed to remove it under the mask rules in place at that time).

This gold metallic knit is one I thrifted a couple months ago. I was a bit on the fence about it but $2 price swayed me! Took a few washes to get it wearable and then a little longer to work up the courage to give it a wear. It's a lot more muted in the photos, it feels very 80s and in your face in person 😅 I figured for a sunny but windy day the thick knit was a good choice. I actually really enjoyed this and wish I hadn't waited so long to wear it! It's good to step out of your comfort zone now and then.

The wind did make it a little chilly so I added the red Alexander McQueen skull scarf for a bit extra warmth and to break up the gold with a touch of colour.

With the gold hardware on the Chloe Ethel bag and it's ability to hold absolutely everything we need (the usual plus water bottles and even my camera) it was an obvious choice. It does blend in a bit with the knit in the photos though, a more contrasting bag may have been a better choice.

Last worn: red skull scarf, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers (above), Chloe Ethel bag (above). First time I've worn the gold knit as it's a recent opshop buy.

Other ways to wearred skull scarf with blue, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and kimono, Chloe Ethel bag and monochrome blue outfit.

Perfect for pregnancyred skull scarf in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Black skinny jeans are a staple! To mix it up a little and add more interest to your outfit, try metallic pieces or even a splash of red. Cooler weather is good for this as it's easy to add a bright scarf or cardigan to bring more colour to your outfit.

Printed Tops, Colourful Jeans, Adidas Superstar and Balenciaga Part Time Bag

More super simple autumn outfits with printed tops, colourful jeans, Adidas Superstar sneakers, statement earrings and my Balenciaga part time bag. Tried adding the statement earrings to dress my outfits up a little!

What I wore:

stripe coca-cola logo tee with burgundy skinny jeans Adidas superstar, black balenciaga part time bag sgh g21 silver | away from blue

striped tee and Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH | awayfromtheblue

Earrings: Kmart navy tassel earrings

Jeans: Jeanswest Harper skinny pant in Russet
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

It's always fun when autumn weather starts to arrive and I can pull out all my jeans again! I have quite a collection of colourful denim. These burgundy ones haven't been worn much, I bought them in my massive Jeanswest sale haul at the start of 2020. It was nice to get them out for their first wearing this year with the cooler autumn weather, even if the burgundy isn't an exact match with the red of the Coca Cola logo on the tee I thought the different shades of red would look good together.

This was a really casual outfit, especially with the Adidas superstar sneakers (which I think complimented the contrasting horizontal stripes in the tee nicely) so I tired to dress it up a little with the statement earrings - the navy ones being matchy-matchy with the navy stripes on the tee. Made me feel like I put a little more effort into my outfit!

It was a day full of errands - I had a big list of things to get through so we headed to the local Westfield to try cross everything off in one trip. The Balenciaga part time bag was great for carrying the essentials and a couple snacks and water bottles for the kids. It was a rainy day though so we were as quick as possible as it was so busy! Although we haven't had virus cases in Brisbane for over a month, we still haven't been heading out to the shops as much as we used to pre-COVID, and normally avoid the big shopping centres. You forget how busy it can get, especially on a wet weekend day when everyone is looking to stay dry!

Last worn: navy statement earrings, Coca Cola striped tee, burgundy skinny jeans, Adidas Superstar, Balenciaga black part time bag.

Other ways to wearCoca Cola striped tee and shorts, burgundy skinny jeans and leather jacket, Adidas Superstar and maxi skirt, Balenciaga black part time bag and midi dress.

Perfect for pregnancyBalenciaga black part time bag in second trimester.

What's In My Balenciaga Part Time Bag:

What I wore:

JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Same outfit formula as the one above, on a much quieter weekend day. Headed out to the library and the playground with the kids. I even wore the same shoes, these Adidas Superstar were a great thrift find I'm definitely getting value from. They are super comfortable for all the running around with the kids too.

Again I added statement earrings to this outfit - the teal and gold complimented the turquoise and gold of the necklace nicely I thought. I love the way the colours look with the magenta skinny jeans too! I did regret the earrings a little when I had a struggle fitting the kids bikes back into the car (it's like a game of Tetris!) and one of my earrings got caught on the handlebars. Luckily it didn't fall too far and landed in the car!

With statement magenta jeans and an animal print tank I feel this could be a really loud outfit, but with the neutral browns in the tank I think this works well and isn't too much. Was nice and easy for a quiet day with the kids too. Again the Balenciaga part time bag came in handy for water bottles and snacks!

Last worn: animal print tank, gold and teal earrings, stone pendant necklace, magenta jeans, Adidas Superstar (above), Balenciaga black part time bag (above).

Other ways to wearanimal print tank and pencil skirt, magenta jeans and blue knit, Adidas Superstar and shorts, Balenciaga black part time bag worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyanimal print tank in second trimester, Balenciaga black part time bag in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Colourful jeans are a nice way to get away from the blue jeans rut while still being just as practical. You can keep it simple as I have here with neutral accessories like a black bag, and a printed top that doesn't clash with the colours of your jeans.

Magnificent 8 Statement Pants: Pink and Black Jeans Outfits With Balenciaga Part Time Bag

For this quarter's Magnificent 8 posts, all 8 ladies decided to style some statement pants. We are all styling our different pants in unique ways, scroll on down to see the outfits I wore to meet the theme and find links to the other ladies blogs. Because you can be stylish at any age!

I don't actually have a lot of pants in my wardrobe - jeans are my staple for cooler days when tights under a dress or skirt won't cut it! But with some autumn weather finally arriving a month or so late in April in Brisbane, it was the perfect time to wear some of my more statement jeans and meet the theme.

What I wore:

Necklace: Tiffany & Co silver 5th Avenue notes heart pendant necklace
TeeCotton On deep v tee in washed desert rose
JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
Shoes:  New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Refusing to believe that it's cardigan weather as we've had such a warm autumn so far, I didn't add a topper on this outfit, thinking jeans and a tee was warm enough for this autumn day. It was a bit chilly on the school run though, and with a bit of a breeze I was wishing I'd picked up a jacket or cardigan whenever we reached a shady section on our bike ride around the park. It was perfectly warm in the sun though for jeans and a tee, but running errands after I wished again I'd worn a jacket.

Not an outfit fail though as I liked this outfit otherwise! These chevron print Sass and Bide skinny jeans are really fun to wear. I've tried wearing printed pieces with them a few times in the past, with mixed results. A plain block colour piece, like this pink v-neck tee, is a much better pairing as it lets the printed jeans be the only statement with the outfit.

Carried my black Balenciaga part time bag to fit snacks and water bottles - and since my youngest's latest birthday he's old enough to join his big brother at sports on a Monday evening. This bag is plenty big enough for all of our water bottles for that.

Last worn: pink v-neck tee, aqua earrings, silver Tiffany necklace, Sass and Bide chevron print jeans, New Balance sneakers, Balenciaga black part time bag.

Other ways to wearpink v-neck tee and maxi skirtSass and Bide chevron print jeans and leather jacket, Balenciaga black part time bag worn 30 ways.

30 Ways To Wear: Balenciaga Part Time Bag

What I wore:

Necklace: silver heart long pendant necklace
TankAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

What a day this was! Had a simple relaxing weekend planned, with a bike ride around the track at the playground in the morning, as well as a stop at the library. Afterwards we grabbed some more soil (and some snags for lunch!) at Bunnings so we could plant the rest of our Woolworths discovery garden seedlings outside. Actually managed to raise quite a few seeds to the 'ready for planting' stage, hopefully I can keep them alive this time and get a better harvest than we did a couple years back where the smoke from the bushfires and the heatwaves killed everything off!

Unfortunately what was supposed to be a quiet afternoon planting in the garden turned into a minor trip to the hospital for my son after he managed to injure himself! Thankfully we were seen and got back home fairly quickly, in time for dinner and a movie to help us all de-stress and recover.

Again this outfit is black and pink, this time around with a printed top and plain jeans. These bright magenta jeans are also from Sass and Bide and one of the few pairs of straight legged jeans I have in my wardrobe. I like the bright statement magenta colour and I find these really wearable! To let the pants shine again I kept the rest of my outfit simple with the neutral black and white striped tank, the black Balenciaga part time bag again and my black and white Converse.

How You Can Wear It:

Statement jeans are easy to pair with basic tops in your wardrobe - a colourful v-neck tee works well with printed skinny jeans. For brighter print-free denim, try a printed top instead. A neutral will really help the bright jeans pop!

Two Ways To Wear Marigold Orange Tops With Skinny Jeans

I've been wearing a lot more bright colours lately! Loving yellow as always, but there are a lot of cute orange pieces around for spring too and so I put this post together with two ways I've recently worn marigold orange tops. Both with jeans, but with different colour schemes.

What I wore:

sass and bide playman chevron print skinnies double denim jean jacket marigold orange tee | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag | away from theblue

awayfromblue Instagram | double denim jean jacket marigold orange tee printed sass and bide playman skinnies and mini mac

Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in marigold
JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

This was a really fun outfit! These Sass and Bide chevron print skinny jeans make such a statement on their own, but I thought I'd try the marigold tee with them for something really bold. I did end up adding the denim jacket on top too so it wasn't too much together, and it helped keep me cosy as it was quite a windy day! I really like the double denim with such different coloured denim pieces together, I thought it went well and the blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag and necklace tied in with the blue of the jacket. Blue pairs so nicely with orange!

A comfortable jeans and tee outfit for the school run, spending time scootering around with my son and walking Cooper, and then sports in the evening.

What I wore:

TopKmart short sleeve textured dolman top in marigold (new purchase)
Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue

Why I wore it:

A little more of a colourful combination with this recently purchased top! Admittedly when I ordered it online I thought it was more mustard than orange, despite the marigold name for the colour. It's a stunning bright colour though and oh so comfortable - I saw it working well for the rare zoom meetings I have at work where I want to look bright and cheerful but also be comfortable too, the slouchy oversized style and dolman sleeves are just perfect for that.

As it is such a voluminous top I wanted to balance it out with skinny jeans, but also really have fun with the orange colour so I decided to try these thrifted Asos green jeans with it. Such a fun combination!

The daggy sneakers and the practical Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack were because I headed out with the kids for the day, making the most of the nice weather and the pupil free day to explore along our favourite trail again, visit a new one, and just keep the kids out the house for a few hours so hubby could work from home in peace and quiet! I was so glad I had these comfortable shoes, especially on the second trail as my injured knee was really complaining!

May have been a bit overly colourful for hiking around some trails, considering we didn't bump into anyone else but a snake all day, but it was nice to try a new colour combo. And thankfully the snake slithered away quickly!

Last worn: navy tassel necklace, green skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack. First time I've shared the top on the blog as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to weargreen skinny jeans and ombre knit, Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack with stripes.

How You Can Wear It:

There are so many different shades of orange around at the moment for spring - it's a really fun colour to wear! You can try it with neutrals like blue denim jackets or black jeans, or go a little bolder and pair it with bright blues and green denim!

Navy Scarf, Neverfull and Colourful Skinny Jeans: Weekday Wear Link Up

Two identical outfit formulas for today's Weekday Wear Link Up, but outfits for two very different days! Both a winter staple formula of skinny jeans, blue scarves, v-neck tees and cardigans. Accessorised with my Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote bag.

What I wore:

King Island walk outfit sass and bide skinny jeans white tee cardigan bird print scarf and Louis vuitton neverfull | away from blue

Jacket: Paper Scissors grey wrap cardigan
Scarf: navy bird print scarf
TeeAtmos & Here white essential v-neck tee
JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a very fun day at Wellington Point! We were lucky to get there when the tide was out so we could go for a walk out to King Island after lunch. When the tide is out, a sand bridge appears all the way from Wellington Point right onto the island. It's the first time we've been able to walk out there with both boys since my my now 4 old was a baby. The tide has not been in our favour before. The kids enjoyed exploring the island although I did regret the walk the next day - while it's a short walk at a couple of k's there and back, walking on sand is a bit rough on my injured knee, even though I took my shoes off to do it.

I wasn't sure what the weather would be like as last time we were there it was cold and windy - so I picked a light cardigan, my navy scarf and a fun pair of magenta skinny jeans. I really like these magenta jeans with blue and the grey cardigan was a good neutral. I thought the white birds in the print matched the white v-neck tee well too! I didn't end up taking this cardigan off - it was a warm day but the sea breeze meant I kept my arms covered. Although it was busy on the beach it was nice everyone kept their distance!

What I wore:

layred winter burgundy jeans and tee outfit neverfull heart print scarf waterfall cardigan | awayfromblue

navy scarf and cardigan with Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in navy night sky marle
ScarfStella McCartney heart print scarf
TeeAtmos & Here black essential v-neck tee
Jeans: Jeanswest Harper skinny pant in Russet
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

A bit of a darker outfit for this cooler day! With the wet weather we headed to our local shopping centre for a bit of a browse and to pick up a few groceries. This was before the recent COVID cases in Brisbane, we are back to shopping online 99% of the time now! But it was good to get some presents for an upcoming birthday party, and treat ourselves to some new books (the kids got some Disney ones) and a Boost juice. They had a colour burst promo on so I decided to try the blue smoothie - not only was it delicious it is the first time I'd have a blue smoothie and I had to get a pic as it matched the blues in my outfit so well!

The Stella McCartney heart print scarf was a bit of matchy-matchy too, with the black in the print matching the black v-neck tee. I liked the navy cardigan with the scarf too, even though they are different shades of blue I think it worked well. The burgundy jeans added a little extra colour and the Louis Vuitton neverfull bag carried all of our water bottles and some snacks for the boys, as well as all of my essentials, so I didn't need to carry the baby bag as well.

How You Can Wear It:
