I don't actually have a lot of pants in my wardrobe - jeans are my staple for cooler days when tights under a dress or skirt won't cut it! But with some autumn weather finally arriving a month or so late in April in Brisbane, it was the perfect time to wear some of my more statement jeans and meet the theme.
Necklace: Tiffany & Co silver 5th Avenue notes heart pendant necklace
Tee: Cotton On deep v tee in washed desert rose
Jeans: Sass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:
Refusing to believe that it's cardigan weather as we've had such a warm autumn so far, I didn't add a topper on this outfit, thinking jeans and a tee was warm enough for this autumn day. It was a bit chilly on the school run though, and with a bit of a breeze I was wishing I'd picked up a jacket or cardigan whenever we reached a shady section on our bike ride around the park. It was perfectly warm in the sun though for jeans and a tee, but running errands after I wished again I'd worn a jacket.
Not an outfit fail though as I liked this outfit otherwise! These chevron print Sass and Bide skinny jeans are really fun to wear. I've tried wearing printed pieces with them a few times in the past, with mixed results. A plain block colour piece, like this pink v-neck tee, is a much better pairing as it lets the printed jeans be the only statement with the outfit.
Carried my black Balenciaga part time bag to fit snacks and water bottles - and since my youngest's latest birthday he's old enough to join his big brother at sports on a Monday evening. This bag is plenty big enough for all of our water bottles for that.
Last worn: pink v-neck tee, aqua earrings, silver Tiffany necklace, Sass and Bide chevron print jeans, New Balance sneakers, Balenciaga black part time bag.

Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

Why I wore it:
What a day this was! Had a simple relaxing weekend planned, with a bike ride around the track at the playground in the morning, as well as a stop at the library. Afterwards we grabbed some more soil (and some snags for lunch!) at Bunnings so we could plant the rest of our Woolworths discovery garden seedlings outside. Actually managed to raise quite a few seeds to the 'ready for planting' stage, hopefully I can keep them alive this time and get a better harvest than we did a couple years back where the smoke from the bushfires and the heatwaves killed everything off!
Unfortunately what was supposed to be a quiet afternoon planting in the garden turned into a minor trip to the hospital for my son after he managed to injure himself! Thankfully we were seen and got back home fairly quickly, in time for dinner and a movie to help us all de-stress and recover.
Again this outfit is black and pink, this time around with a printed top and plain jeans. These bright magenta jeans are also from Sass and Bide and one of the few pairs of straight legged jeans I have in my wardrobe. I like the bright statement magenta colour and I find these really wearable! To let the pants shine again I kept the rest of my outfit simple with the neutral black and white striped tank, the black Balenciaga part time bag again and my black and white Converse.
Last worn: black striped tank, silver heart necklace, magenta Sass and Bide jeans, Converse, Balenciaga black part time bag (above).
Other ways to wear: black striped tank and maxi skirt, magenta Sass and Bide jeans with purple, Converse and shorts, Balenciaga black part time bag and printed skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester, Balenciaga black part time bag in third trimester.
How You Can Wear It:
Statement jeans are easy to pair with basic tops in your wardrobe - a colourful v-neck tee works well with printed skinny jeans. For brighter print-free denim, try a printed top instead. A neutral will really help the bright jeans pop!

Mica, I love the chevron print jeans! They are so cool! I think I agree with you that they are probably best paired with a solid for a color block effect. That is probably how I would style them, too, in order to really showcase how amazing the jeans are. And your magenta skinny jeans are really cute, too. I love them paired with the black and white stripes. I am so sorry you had to take your son to the ER. I am glad everything is okay!

Yes I will need to wear them like this more often and really let the pants be the only statement in the outfit!
DeleteBeautiful outfits with the striped pants! I love those striped pants with that t-shirt. The outfit with striped pants and coloured pants is awesome. Great idea for a link up as well, it's always fun to see bloggers participating in link ups.
ReplyDeleteI do love a good pair of statement jeans! I used to have a bright pink pair like that but I think I got rid of them a few years ago (pink was never really my color but I got them to fit in with the trend, haha)

DeleteOh pink is definitely a colour I love - I wear these a ton! :)
You look amazing my dear!
ReplyDeleteTwo great looks Mica. The chevron jeans are so fun and different! Love them paired with the pink top! And the striped tank is definitely a great closet staple and looks so good paired with the burgundy jeans.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your son's injury, so scary always when little ones get hurt, but glad all is well and you were in and out quickly!
Good luck with the seedlings! I've tried growing veggies from seed just once and didn't have much luck. So I buy them instead but always want to give it another try.

Yes we tried last time there were some seed giveaways and we didn't do that well but so far we have a lot planted outside so I hope that they continue to grow, fingers crossed we get to enjoy more this time than the previous year!
DeleteI love the pants of the first outfit!

I love how you included a pair of bright colored solid pants Mica!! I know many of my friends would NEVER wear print pants, so it's a great option!!

Deletethey are a lot easier to style than printed pants, even though they are still bold and bright! :)
Okay, I LOVE that first pair of pants! That is such a cool pattern and it looks amazing on you. What a fantastic way to change up your outfit! I also really love how you styled them. Perfection from head to toe!

How fun to do the collaboration with all of those women Mica. I love both of your outfits. Autumn is such a pretty time of year and I hope you enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a fun collaboration, I enjoy it every time! :)
DeleteThose chevron print pants are so much fun! I think I need to look for printed pants in a skinny form as the print and wide legged usually doesn't work for me. There is one pair I have that I do like, will wear them next week but I think they work because they are more fitted at the waist and thigh.

DeleteIt can be tricky to find the right pants - I have to be careful being petite, but skinnies work for me, especially if they are cropped as then they are the right length for my short legs, ha!
Both looks are cool- and very comfy- I like your Balenciaga bag <3
ReplyDeleteI hope your son is getting better after when he injured himself.

Those chevron print skinnies are magnificent and pairing them with the pink tee was the right decision. I'm hearing you on wishing you'd worn a jacket or cardigan though. Still, I'm very impressed you were still able to go out in short sleeves this time of year which must be the equivalent of end of October for us! I love the magenta jeans too, what a wonderful colour. I'm sorry to hear about your son's injury and minor trip to hospital. I hope he has recovered in the meantime! xxx
ReplyDelete
DeleteYes it has been a really warm autumn so far, we are lucky! He has fully recovered :)
I love this look ... Amazing <3

Thanks for sharing those ideas.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
Mica, those straight-legged jeans look awesome on you. I know you're a skinny jeans devotee, so how do you feel about wide-leg trousers? Is that something you would ever try? What about just slightly wider? Skinnies have been "in" for over a decade now, and I feel the tide turning.
ReplyDeleteYour second outfit is my fave (the first pair of jeans - the pattern makes me think of work-out wear). You look amazing in stripes.
I hope your son is okay - what a day that was! Good luck with your garden this year. We're also hoping this won't be one of those summers where we're enveloped by forest fires - it's been a really dry spring, which bodes poorly for us.
DeleteI have tried wide legged in the past! But it's hard to get the perfect length being petite. Skinnies are my staple! :) Can't imagine parting with them! :)
I hope you don't have any fires - we know how devastating they can be :(
I love bright pink/magenta with black and white striped, such an easy but high-impact combination.

Those magenta pants are so fun! I used to have fun pants, but that ship has sailed now that I live in leggings! (I do have some fun leggings at least, haha.) Glad to hear that your son is doing okay after his little injury!
ReplyDeleteBoth outfits are lovely, but I especially love the bright pants!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear your son injured himself. It's good that everything turned out alright in the end.

Both of these pairs of pants are so cute! The zig-zag ones are so unique and I love the bold hue of the pink pair. It was a fun theme indeed!
