What I wore:
Jacket: thrifted Zara black blazer
Scarf: Jeanswest Lux paisley print scarf (C/O)Necklace: Tiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
Tank: Jeanswest maternity tank in white
Skirt: Asos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta (new purchase)
Why I wore it:
It was quite cold and rainy - but welcome as it broke the heatwave we'd been having. I did consider wearing pants in the morning and wished I had during the day. I liked the print mixing with the scarf and tartan pencil skirt together. This is my favourite blazer and although I can't button it over the baby bump it works well unbuttoned. Just as perfect for the office as it is with jeans.Last worn: Zara blazer, printed scarf, white maternity tank, tartan pencil skirt, silver tuxedo flats, Balenciaga magenta day bag.
Other ways to wear: jersey blazer and a printed dress, printed scarf and chambray, maternity tank and a maxi skirt, tartan pencil skirt with brown and orange, silver tuxedo flats and a maxi dress, Balenciaga magenta day bag and a graphic tee.
What I wore:
Jacket: no label white drape jacket
Necklace: Tiffany diamonds by the yard necklace layered with custom Cooper charm by SilhoupetteTank: Jeanswest Sol maternity jacquard tank (new purchase)
Skirt: Atmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt (also available in black or stripes)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus turquoise and silver beaded bracelet set
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta
Why I wore it:
This tank is another of my post-Christmas sale purchases. You can tell I had some Jeanswest gift vouchers to spend! I wouldn't normally be able to wear this skirt in the third trimester, but as the maternity tank is so long I was able to wear the elastic waist of the skirt under the bump and have the tank cover up all of the baby belly and then some. I was actually able to tuck the tank into the skirt. Benefits of being petite, maternity tanks are quite long.In contrast to the previous outfit above, this was such a hot day. I took the blazer off after these pictures and just wore it around the office to keep my shoulders covered. It was much too hot and humid to wear it long on the commute.
Last worn: waterfall drape jacket, grey marle pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Balenciaga Magenta Day bag (above). First time I've worn the tank as it's a recent purchase.
Other ways to wear: waterfall drape jacket and printed shorts, grey pencil skirt layered for winter, studded mouse flats and a printed dress, Balenciaga Magenta Day bag and a maxi skirt.
January Purchases
Continuing on with recording what I buy each month and keeping a track of how many times I wear things, here's what I bought in January and at the end of December in the post-Christmas sales.
- Jeanswest Carla Maternity Cut out tank (non-maternity version)
- Jeanswest Sol Maternity jacquard tank (non-maternity version)
- Jeanswest Florence print long line tank
- Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta
- Cotton On 'Gemma' cocoon kimono in Laos blossom navy print
- Slim gold Havaianas
- Be Free maternity/nursing bras
- Atmos&Here Betsy jersey wrap dress in watercolour print
- Atmos & Here Arlene wrap top in navy
That's a lot! I had some gift cards to spend and there were so many good sales on....so far the most worn items have been the maternity bras. I don't usually talk underwear on the blog but a good maternity bra is a pregnancy and breastfeeding essential and these two are just so perfect!
I don't anticipate buying any more clothing until after baby arrives, so there are likely to be few monthly haul videos for a while. I'm not entirely ruling out getting some accessories though.... ;)

Tanks pair so well with jackets! You have an excellent variety of jackets in your closet Mica. Both outfits look great.

Thanks Kim! I sometimes think I have too many jackets for our warm climate here, haha!
DeleteLove your pink bag, it makes a lovely pop of colour next to the blue. Gemma x

I LOVE the plaid skirt you're wearing in outfit #1!

I love the scarf and skirt mixed patterns in the first outfit, and the lovely pop of the pink skirt in the 2nd. Gorgeous, Mica!
ReplyDeleteIn terms of dressing up something, you're totally killing it! I think simple tanks are the easiest thing to get away with at the office. In fact, day to day, I love paring everyday cotton v necks with blazers and printed cardigans. Add a necklace and you have no idea I'm in a top I usually lounge around the house in. (;
ReplyDeletehehe yep, they really are such flexible wardrobe pieces with teh right layers! :)
DeleteYou are seriously so cute dear! I love these skirts they look really great on you! :)

Seems like we are not the only ones having a heat wave ! and I am all for that draped cardigan/blazer, it looks really good...
ReplyDeleteHopefully your heatwave is over soon! It's broken here, it's back down to 30 degrees which is a relief, even if I'd rather it be a little cooler...
DeleteThe printed tassel scarf is my favourite, what a cute outfit. The pink handbag also goes well for a splash of colour. I enjoy your little videos also. /Madison

Your jackets totally dress up your tanks in both outfits! I am loving the pop of pink from your bag. That is a great scarf too. It's amazing what accessories can do, huh?

I absolutely love everything about your first outfit. The colors, the patterns, it just all flows so beautifully together! As for your purchases, that black tank with the cutouts and the floral kimono from Cotton On are gorgeous!, I bet they'd make a nice pair as well.
ReplyDeleteI haven't worn them together - I'll need to give that a go, thanks for the idea! :)
DeleteMica you have the most adorable maternity style! I can't believe you're already in your third trimester! I love the blazer with the tee and tartan skirt! Such a cute work look! The second look definitely has a more Spring/Summer feel to it with the lighter colors and prints! :)
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has flown by, not long to go in the pregnancy now!
DeleteSuch a lovely purse, Mica, and I love how it looks paired with your two outfits. I love tanks for the reasons you've mentioned, they're so versatile and can be dressed up for the office or down for a more casual, weekend look. Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great day so far!

Thanks for visiting my blog, Mica! I never thought of incorporating color by way of accessories into a grid print skirt outfit, but I love the way yours turned out!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these outfits are well combined, and the colour combination is lovely:) I wouldn't think fuchsia bag would go great with everything, but now after seeing I think the opposite. x

I do like to wear it with everything, haha! It goes with a lot surprisingly.
DeleteI've not bought much at all in Jan. I love that first outfit, the skirt is lovely.

Love both of these looks, especially the first one! I love the mix of prints with the skirt and scarf, and the pretty pop of pink with the bag. Such a fun, gorgeous look!
ReplyDeleteRockin' a pencil skirt. Go you!
ReplyDeleteI love reading about your purchases, and seeing how you adopt your maternity wear to office outfits. I think you have great creative choices here. The tartan checker skirt is a lovely piece, and I love it with your blazer. The white drape jacket is cool, and would work with many bottoms including skinnies. Happy Tuesday dear. XOXO, Elif
ReplyDeleteIt does look great with skinny jeans - I have worn it that way in the past :)
DeleteSuch cute looks! I'm a big fan of the grey skirt and that pink bag! Gorg!

haha yes I know that feeling! I'm trying to wear more of what I own, but a few extra maternity pieces are coming in really helpful in this last trimester!
