What I wore:
Necklace: Roie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maji metallic tank in soft green and silver
Jeans: Sass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Chloe small Ethel bag in light khaki
Why I wore it:
This was a fun day! Last day of the school holidays meant taking the kids out to a playground of their choice for the day. While it was a cold day it was quite nice in the sun watching the kids play. I even considered taking my cardigan off a few times!
Thought this metallic tank would look nice with the chevron print jeans. Never looks metallic in the pics but it does have a silver metallic thread running through it that makes it feel a little more special than a plain grey tank each time I wear it. Still felt this outfit was lacking something though so added the red cardigan for a little extra warmth and colour with the neutrals. A bright cardi like this over neutrals is an easy way to add a lot of colour to an outfit, and I think this addition really made the outfit.
Wore my Chloe Ethel bag again. It's on heavy repeat since I got it! While it has pretty statement gold hardware I still think it worked with the silver tank, and it had plenty of space for snacks for the kids and all our water bottles too.
Last worn: red waterfall cardigan, feather detail necklace, metallic tank, chevron print skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers, Chloe Ethel bag.
Other ways to wear: red waterfall cardigan with monochrome black outfit, metallic tank and pencil skirt, chevron print skinny jeans with pink, Chloe Ethel bag and maxi skirt.
Chloe Handbag Collection: Past & Present
What I wore:
Jumper: vintage Haneli metallic gold knit jumper (new purchase)
Jeans: Nobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Chloe small Ethel bag in light khaki
Why I wore it:
Another fun day out with the kids! There's a miniature railway here in the Bayside but it was closed with the first lockdown in March 2020 and just hadn't reopened with fluctuating restrictions and them taking advantage of the downtime to make some improvements to the station and tracks. We were thrilled they announced their reopening and we could finally take the kids - they would ask every time we passed when it was starting up again. It was really busy with everyone taking advantage of the grand reopening but mask rules were still in place from our 3 cases the week before and it was back to 0 cases so we felt safe. (Note that I took off my mask for the pic on the trail we walked along afterwards as we were outdoors and there was no-one there except my family, so it was allowed to remove it under the mask rules in place at that time).
This gold metallic knit is one I thrifted a couple months ago. I was a bit on the fence about it but $2 price swayed me! Took a few washes to get it wearable and then a little longer to work up the courage to give it a wear. It's a lot more muted in the photos, it feels very 80s and in your face in person 😅 I figured for a sunny but windy day the thick knit was a good choice. I actually really enjoyed this and wish I hadn't waited so long to wear it! It's good to step out of your comfort zone now and then.
The wind did make it a little chilly so I added the red Alexander McQueen skull scarf for a bit extra warmth and to break up the gold with a touch of colour.
With the gold hardware on the Chloe Ethel bag and it's ability to hold absolutely everything we need (the usual plus water bottles and even my camera) it was an obvious choice. It does blend in a bit with the knit in the photos though, a more contrasting bag may have been a better choice.
Last worn: red skull scarf, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers (above), Chloe Ethel bag (above). First time I've worn the gold knit as it's a recent opshop buy.
Other ways to wear: red skull scarf with blue, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and kimono, Chloe Ethel bag and monochrome blue outfit.
Perfect for pregnancy: red skull scarf in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
Black skinny jeans are a staple! To mix it up a little and add more interest to your outfit, try metallic pieces or even a splash of red. Cooler weather is good for this as it's easy to add a bright scarf or cardigan to bring more colour to your outfit.
I love theses red touches in theses outfits.
ReplyDeleteRed and metallic it's such a good mix together.

Hello Mica, I hope you're having a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteI loved how you made combinations using red, sometimes this color could be difficult but you made such a good balance ;) The first proposal is cool since you have a strong color like red and then a catchy print. The bag is also a really nice addition to the look!
And the second one... I really adore the scarf, that Alexander McQueen design is iconic and it is nice that you have one in your collection.
Good luck with the cold in Australia and keep having fun with the kids! Happy to read that cases are going down :)

Yes it's good cases are down to 0 again. I have quite a few of those skull scarves - I love them!
DeleteBoth fantastic outfits, Mica! I love how the red cardigan and scarf both just pop right out, and add that extra element of specialness to your looks.
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you for pushing yourself and wearing that metallic jumper! It looks fabulous on you, and I agree with your note about the metallic thread (in the tank) elevating it - YES. That's what I'm always going on about: making "basic" more interesting! Well done!
Your outing to the miniature railway sounds so fun (I bet the boys loved it), and I'm happy to hear it reopened. Our cases are going up here (mostly Delta), hitting unvaccinated/single-vaxed people. Our province is doing well, though, with 89% single-jabbed and 62% double-jabbed. It still feels like another wave is coming, though, especially as the tourists are flocking here - do not even get me started on the US/Canada border opening up on Monday! Are we sure we want to let dubiously-vaccinated people in?? Scary! :(
Yes I'm glad I gave the jumper a go - it's not as scary as I thought!
DeleteIt's a shame that cases are flaring up again in so many places! I've been on the waitlist for vaccinations for nearly 3 months now - there just aren't enough vaccines. I'm trying hard to find appointments on my own but I'm in the younger age group so I have to wait for the government to give me a vaccine, the ones at doctors and pharmacists are for older people.
I love how you jazzed up these fairly neutral outfits with a pop of red. Your Chloe bag is delightful, I'm loving the gold hardware. Oh, and I always find metallics quite hard to get right on photo too! I hope you're having a great week Mica! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes it's a shame the photos don't capture the metallics so well! But I still enjoy wearing them :)
DeleteI love this bag, it's amazing *-*

Very fine outfits ;) Have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteGreat styles and lovely big bag :-D
ReplyDeleteThe pops of red are nice.
ReplyDeleteRed becomes you. It is a live color that adds vitality to any garment (your cardigan and scarf) especially in winter, with its usually grey, neutral days.
ReplyDeleteThe skinny jeans look like a most integral part of the outfit.
It was a pleasure to look at your photos!
You can never go wrong with a pop of red. Sorry to hear your are in lockdown again.

Yes I was so glad when it was lifted! I hope the government can get us more vaccines so we can stop the constant lockdowns!
DeleteOk, I am in love with that gold metallic knit piece!! Metallics are my jam!

ReplyDeleteYour outfits are always so beautiful! I love that cardigan and the way you've incorporated colour. Also, the scarf from the second outfit is also SUPER cute. I love it. Aww, I am so glad the miniature railway opened back up again. It's nice to see things that were closed starting to open back up again. Life almost starts to feel somewhat normal. Almost!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Yes it's a shame it's taken them so long to reopen while everything else is back to normal but they did a lot of track work while they were closed! :)
DeleteIt sounds like had a good time at the miniature railway.
ReplyDeleteI love your gold top! Such an amazing price too.
