What I wore:
Earrings: Kmart teal tassel earrings
Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimonoNecklace: House of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
Tank: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in chartreuse
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather
Why I wore it:
What a surprising day! Just as we pulled up to school they announced on the radio that Brisbane would be going into lockdown that night and it would be my son's last day of school for the term. There had been a couple of events and activities planned for the last week of school so that was a bit upsetting - but to be honest my son handled it better than I did! I kept remembering when this happened in 2020 and we went into lockdown to end the school term early and it turned into weeks at home and online learning...so glad it wasn't the case this year and the 3 day Brisbane lockdown was actually lifted early.Thankfully my son's teacher still welcomed me to help out in his class room as normal, even if we did a few different things to help her cram a weeks worth of last week of term activities into one day instead of our regular helping with learning! The school handled it well. One of the activities planned for the end of the school day still went ahead, so we were able to enjoy that at school pick up before heading home to start lockdown, as sports later that evening was cancelled so we wouldn't be out when lockdown came into effect.
I had a grocery delivery coming the next day that I'd ordered online as usual so I didn't need to join any queues at the supermarkets, unlike last time there was a surprise lockdown and we were out of bread. My youngest son and I did decide to go get a few more books from the library though, just in case the 3 day lockdown was extended. We were not the only ones stocking up on books! 😅 I was jealous of the lady who turned up with a literal cart and just started filling it with books!
It was nice I had picked such a cheerful outfit for a stressful day - this mustard yellow tank looks really good with the navy floral duster kimono, and I thought the teal earrings were a nice bit of matchy-matchy with the teal Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag.
Last worn: floral duster kimono, teal earrings, silver sunburst necklace, mustard yellow tank, denim shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff croc Love Too bag.
Other ways to wear: floral duster kimono and skater dress, mustard yellow tank in the office, denim shorts and embroidered top, Rebecca Minkoff croc Love Too bag and maxi dress.
Choosing a Bag For Every Occasion:
What I wore:
Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in mid turquoise
Shorts: Jeanswest Heather Bermuda short in black
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
Why I wore it:
Wore this for a little stroll along our favourite trail. This turquoise tank is such a bold shade of blue and it pairs so nicely with yellow! So this outfit is a blue tank and yellow kimono, inverse of the one above! Wore this a few days before the lockdown announcement, when it wasn't even on our mind.Thought bright and colourful would be nice for our little walk, and of course I needed my New Balance sneakers to provide support along the trail. Took my big Louis Vuitton neverfull tote to fit all our water bottles and some snacks in - it's a big bag but it's so light and is perfect for carrying along all the kids things as well as mine!
Again I stuck with denim Bermuda shorts, these black ones matched the shoes and balanced out the bright blue and yellow nicely I thought.
Last worn: yellow kimono, navy tassel necklace, turquoise tank, black denim shorts, New Balance sneakers (above), Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote.
Other ways to wear: yellow kimono and olive green, turquoise tank and pencil skirt, black denim shorts and a dress, Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote and maxi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote worn 30 ways.
How You Can Wear It
Blue and yellow look so good together - in any shade combination! Try mustard yellow and navy, or even blue denim! And turquoise works well with and equally bright and sunny shade of yellow too.

Great outfits for our weather. The weather here is hot and humid.
ReplyDeleteGood basic tanks in multiple colors are definitely wardrobe essentials, even better when they're on sale! Glad you were still able to help out in your son's classroom and thank goodness for grocery delivery!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link up Mica!
xo,
Kellyann
Yes the neighbours and I were laughing about it the other day - I'm the only one in the street still doing the deliveries! They like getting out to the store as an excuse to leave the house, I just prefer having it all turn up at my doorstep each week and not having to try fit it in around work and the school run, haha! :)
DeleteLooks like it is really warm weather with kimonos and shorts. We seldom wear kimonos outdoors here but the idea looks very pretty. The yellow top goes very well with the coloured kimono, good combinations.
ReplyDeleteI love your denim shorts - it's difficult to find ones that aren't too short and almost show your bum! I'm glad your lockdown didn't last too long x
ReplyDeleteBeautylymin
DeleteYes the Bermuda ones are such a good length for me!
These sudden lockdowns are extremely stressful but your outfits are very cheerful and bright. Love the yellow colour of your top and a kimono. Have a good week ahead, Mica

DeleteYes it's always a shock when they are announced! If we could vaccinate our poor doctors and nurses it would be less likely to spread, I really wish they'd vaccinate more people!
Oh thats not good, the lockdown. We are so used too it now, but it's awful. Have a great start of the week!
ReplyDelete
DeleteI'm glad it was just two and a half days but it's always a shock when it's a sudden lockdown, even if it's short!
So in love with the contrast of the yellow tee with this printed duster kimono! Thanks so much for the link up!

Yellow always makes the outfit outstanding and brings sunshine to it, I love to have some pieces and accessories in it :)

Great outfits ,very nice.
ReplyDeleteI like them
Have a nice day :)
I'm sorry it turned into such a stressful day and abrupt end to the school year. You looked cute and cheerful. I have to remember to wear my kimonos with shorts. I love this look. That turquoise tank is a great color too!
ReplyDeleteYes it was a total shock, I wasn't expecting it and I was sad for my son, but he handled it much better than me! Kids are so resilient!
DeleteYour colorful tees are just perfect! I love how they brighten each look. We have 5 more weeks of school till our summer break so I am counting down the weeks: looking forward to not having to get up in the morning.
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
DeleteOh that would be lovely - my kids always want to sleep in on school days but as soon as they don't have to be up, they are up super early, haha!
Two great Kimono looks, Mica. Love the touches of yellow!
ReplyDeleteMy kids went back to school for a couple of months, now they are back virtually but supposed to be going back beginning of May (hopefully). So upsetting especially since it's my son's last year of Highschool. His age group is missing out on so much!! But sadly not much any one of us can do...
Thanks for hosting the linkup!

It's such a shame it's not safe enough for your schools to be reopen :( We are lucky, after the first 6 week lockdown in March 2020 I think they have only missed about 1 and a half weeks of school, just a day or two here and there if a 3 day lockdown lines up with a school day.
DeleteGreat outfits hun!

I would wear both of those outfits. So cute. I can't wait to wear shorts more.
ReplyDeleteI’m so glad your lockdown wasn’t long! I love these blue and yellow outfits. I am especially partial to that navy floral kimono.

DeleteYes hoping we stay lockdown free for a while! We haven't had more cases which is great!
Love these two blue and yellow color combinations. Your yellow and white print kimono with the aqua blue tank gives such a feeling of cool and comfort, even in the hottest weather! Your country has done such an exceptional job at controlling the virus-I'm glad your recent quarantine was short and not too stressful. Have a good week!
ReplyDelete
Deleteyes we are so extremely lucky! For all the coronavirus cases that come into hotel quarantine from overseas few of them have spread outside into the community, we are thankful!
Hi Mica
ReplyDelete3 days of lockdown? we stayed for 2 months and we are now reopening the economy, I don’t know how I’ve managed to handle being closed at home without getting sick!
I also think about my life before this pandemic and all that we have lost!
I loved your first look, I think you have a bigger collection of kimonos than mine !!
xoxo

I do love a good kimono!
DeleteAnd yes, we are lucky, when there is a case of the virus that gets out of quarantine we are able to lockdown while they find the contacts and put them into quarantine and then we can go back to normal life thankfully. So lucky. Hope your lockdown is lifted soon!
I'm glad to hear that the lockdown was lifted early, but I can imagine it was a bit of a shock to the system. The turquoise tank is such a gorgeously vibrant colour and looks stunning with the yellow based kimono. However, my favourite outfit is the first one. That floral kimono is absolutely stunning! xxx
ReplyDeleteWow I can't imagine finding out a surprise lockdown so suddenly like that. It's good that your son handled it so well as that must've lessened your stress and that the lockdown was lifted early. Getting groceries delivered is such a nice convenience. I have continued to do this even after lockdown as it just makes life so much easier.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThe way things are unfortunately - until we have vaccinated all the doctors and nurses there's always a chance it can spread out of hotel quarantine and we need to pause for a while so they can identify all the possible contacts! We have kept up our grocery delivery too - it really does make things easier!
Love both outfits. You look great.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the lockdown.
Both excellent outfits, Mica! I applaud your use of the bold yellow and turquoise blue - they really pop! - particularly in the second outfit, with the black as well as the bright yellow.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about these quick lock-downs you're experiencing, but at least you're able to see other people! Hang in there, my dear friend!
Deleteyes, we are so lucky that they are temporary and we are back to life as normal quickly!
Very fine post;) you look beautiful;)
ReplyDeleteSunny, happy yellow is a perfect color for this time of year, no matter if it's Spring or Fall depending on where you live.

Those tanks are great they look so comfy and the colors are too fun The kimonos are super chic and on trend and great for hot weather. Sorry you guys are going in to lock down again. I got my second shot last week. It will be nice to spend time with other people who have been vaccinated. Things are going so well in France where my step family lives...

DeleteSo glad you are vaccinated! It will be a long time here until we are able to get vaccinated sadly - maybe the end of the year they are saying? Ugh :(
sorry to hear you had another lockdown again. At least you looked cute for it.

DeleteThanks! i'm glad it was our standard short lockdown and not extended past the 3 days!
Seeing these outfits makes me realize that I need more longer kimonos. They are so great with a basic tee!!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the lockdown. That's so frustrating,

DeleteIt is frustrating, especially when it's so unexpected, but it's good it was just 2 and a half days. Maybe we are getting better and the next 3 day one can end early too, haha!
Me gusta el conjunto. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteHello, Mica.
ReplyDeleteVery nice oadu oadu and your clothes in yellow and blue.
The two colors immediately add to your cheerfulness.
The yellow color is also popular in my country because of the changing of the rainy season to the dry season.
Have a super week!.
Fun outfits! The yellow and blue color theme is beautiful!

Hello Mica, I hope you're having a good week so far!
ReplyDeleteGood that you got the kimonos in two colors! I think they are your statement piece and I love the collection of kimonos you're showing us from time to time! Everyone is a little treasure! This time the yellow one was my favorite, love the pattern and the fact that you can't go unnoticed with this piece :)
Ooooh and sorry to hear that you're facing a new lockdown :( For us in Europe, Australia is a good example of how to handle the pandemic, but I imagine some restrictions can come back from time to time, so take care :)
Pablo
Hey Fungi
Deleteyes the downside of having so few people vaccinated is that cases can spread out of quarantine sometimes :( But we are lucky we have a restriction free life most of the time!
I loved the color combination!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and very cheerful outfits.

I love the yellow statement items in these outfits. Yellow is such a happy colour.
ReplyDeleteYikes, what an abrupt lockdown! Glad it was short-lived, and that you got to stock up on books! Next time, you guys need the cart! haha
ReplyDelete
DeleteI was so jealous of that cart as I tried to carry all the books we picked in a little green bag, haha! I so need a cart ;)
