What I wore:
Earrings: Lovisa mini mustard tassel earrings
Jacket: thrifted SES Fashions mustard yellow cardiganScarf: Fashion Scarf Girl in black and white Pretty Floral print
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in grey marl
Jeans: Nobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Mimco black button bag
Why I wore it:
After a little uncertainty, we were so pleased when lockdown was lifted the evening before and my son was able to compete in his sports tournament as planned. Even if all the parents and spectators had to sit outside and peer into the sports hall from the doorway to make sure everyone met the post lockdown indoor space restrictions 😅Despite having to sit far away it was so good to see him competing and my bright mustard cardigan ensured my son could spot me in the crowd. I wasn't expecting to have to sit outside so I was pleased this was just the right outfit for it. The cardigan wasn't too heavy when the sun came out, but it and my scarf kept me warm when the sun hid behind the clouds. And luckily no rain too! Turned out to be such a good morning, so pleased they were able to still run the event.
I liked using my big Mimco button bag again! The 25th anniversary of Mimco had me thinking about my button bag again - this is one of the original styles, I bought it in 2007 when I was at uni. Was so thrilled when I bought it, it was a craze for a few years and they were everywhere in Australia. Still see them around now and then, although mostly the newer, smaller version of this style. This one you wouldn't know is over 14 years old! It's in great condition, I should wear it more!
Last worn: mustard earrings, mustard cardigan, grey v-neck tee, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers, Mimco black button bag. First time I've worn the scarf as it was a Christmas gift.
Other ways to wear: mustard cardigan and shorts, grey v-neck tee worn 30 ways, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and kimono, Mimco black button bag and pencil skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: grey v-neck tee in second trimester.

What Fits Inside: Mimco Button Bag From 2007
What I wore:
Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl black and white thick and thin mix print scarf
Top: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
Jeans: Jeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Mimco black button bag
Why I wore it:
Very similar to the outfit above. Again, a monochromatic jeans and tee outfit with a black and white printed scarf and a colourful cardigan. This purple one isn't as bright as the mustard yellow one above, but it still adds the perfect amount of colour to this outfit. With the different shades of grey in the tee and the skinny jeans, the purple cardigan was the perfect topper. And with no other prints I could wear this fun contrasting striped scarf for a bit of an instant print mix without it clashing with anything.Thankfully one of the workshops I'd booked in advance for the kids went ahead despite a lot of other school holiday activities I'd planned for the week being cancelled as soon as lockdown was announced, even though it was just for 3 days. Because it was still on after lockdown was lifted we had a pretty fun day. The kids got to make their own light up DIY aquariums in a jar which look really cute! These are kind of similar. We even managed a little play time in the playground before the rain arrived that afternoon which was perfect.
Again I wore my Mimco button bag - it seemed the obvious choice with the neutrals and it fits snacks and water bottles and the essentials nicely.
Last worn: purple cocoon cardigan, grey tunic, grey skinny jeans worn 30 ways, New Balance sneakers, Mimco black button bag (above). First time I've worn the scarf as it was a Christmas gift.
Other ways to wear: purple cocoon cardigan and skater dress, grey tunic and shorts, grey skinny jeans and leopard print, Mimco black button bag in the office.
Perfect for pregnancy: purple cocoon cardigan in second trimester.
How You can Wear It:
Layering in winter gives you lots of fun options for accessorising. A colourful cardigan can add a burst of brightness to a monochrome jeans and tee outfit, and a printed scarf adds some extra interest and a little warmth.
I'm so glad the lockdown was lifted and the tournament was able to take place! Love what you wore as well. That mustard cardigan is such a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Yes we are so lucky! :)
DeleteA three-day lockdown? That's so short. Our first was to last a couple weeks but got extended for a while. Glad you're able to get out again.
ReplyDeleteWe regularly have short 3 day lockdowns, just to give them time to find all the exposed or possibly exposed people and have them quarantine for longer while everything else returns to normal and cases in the community go back to 0 :) We are pretty lucky!
DeleteI'm glad your latest lockdown only lasted 3 days, so that you were able to make the most of what was left of the school holidays. So pleased to hear your son got to compete is his sport tournament!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is your first outfit because of the pop of mustard from the cardigan. I do remember this kind of bag very well, too. It seems to be still in perfect condition after all those years! xxx
DeleteYes I'm so pleased we could still do a lot of things!
Amazing looks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Have a nice day
Kisses ♥
That's so wonderful your son was able to participate and you could watch him Mica.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same in I feel this need to add in some color somehow, LOL

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear your lockdown was lifted! That button bag is super cute! I can't believe it's as old as it is!
ReplyDeleteYes some bags are worth investing in!
DeleteMe gusto el segundo look te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteGlad your lockdown was only for 3 days. I will be so happy when we no longer have to have lockdowns or isolate! I like that you kept it simple with your wardrobe. And you definitely take great care of your accessories. I can't believe that handbag is 14 years old!
ReplyDeleteYes I can't wait until the government finally gets us enough vaccines so all this can be over! I find leather bags last a really long time, this one is great leather too!
DeleteThat bag is interesting - I don't know I've ever seen the button bag but I can totally understand the name. I enjoy all of your fall/winter clothes!

The boys have really enjoyed their school break here as this was the first year the have done some half day camps. It was well worth the expense for them to get exercise and socialization this summer. School is approaching quickly: just a few more weeks of break.

Super cute outfit sweetie!
ReplyDeleteDanielle | thereluctantblogger.co.uk
I love both these looks! I am starting to wear more cardigans this summer- especially when it's so warm outside and so cool in buildings & restaurants.
ReplyDeleteThey are a great light layer for that!
DeleteThese look lovely and ideal :-D
ReplyDeleteI love monochromatic outfits with a pop of color, my choice is usually red. And a colorful cardigan is great for getting spotted in the crowd, must have been very reassuring for your son.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's partly the reason why I dress the kids in bright colours when we go to community events or indoor play places - easier to spot them, haha!
DeleteI like that particular color of the cardigan, which I can in the 1st picture. Glad to hear good news on the Covid-19 front 😷
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend ☀️
I have always loved this color such a fun way to add a pop of color to a more neutral look and the button bag is so fun so great to shop your closet and glad the lockdown has been lifted.

Hi Mica
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing you with those autumn outfits and I am depressing!! Just by thinking that we are almost in Autumn too!! But don't you worry is not your problem you are beautiful in both! And the bag is cute too!!
I saw in the news the demonstrations in Sydney... sad!!

Yes the demonstrations are so sad, especially with the high levels of virus there! I hope it doesn't spread!
DeleteIt's winter here, so these are winter outfits :) it doesn't get too cold here in Brisbane!
So lovely you were able to watch your son competing in the sports tournament. It is great that you choose that mustard cardigan so he had no problem spotting you even if you had to watch from afar.
ReplyDeleteLucky choice of an outfit!
I'm the same way, I like to add some colour to my neutral outfits. Colour is fun.
That bag is really cute.
I am glad that your lockdown ended. Also, the mustard cardigan is my favorite. Have a great weekend!

Both cardigans (the mustard colored and the purple one) are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe mustard color, making it easy for your son to spot you in the audience, reminds me that when buying a car, people are advised to buy a bright color so that it could easily be spotted on the road, and thus avoid accidents.
DeleteHaha yes, it's the same idea! :)
Los dos outfist me encantaron, saludos:D
ReplyDeleteOh, I always love the outfits that you put together. The pop of colour with the yellow cardigan is just great!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you don't have to keep having too many lockdowns. we have come out of ours here in the UK, but I am not too sure we should have!
Thanks for sharing :)
Hope ou have a wonderful week!

Until we get more vaccinations in the country and we can all get vaccinated lockdowns will be a way of life for us sadly!
DeleteSo glad the lockdown did not last long. Love both looks! I need to try the color palette of your second look. I adore the purple and grey contrast!

Why did you have three days of lockdown?
ReplyDeleteAs for the styling - I like the first one more because it is more colorful and joyful.
We have 3 day lockdowns when there is a case of the virus that gets into the community as it spreads from hotel quarantine. It means all the close contacts can go into isolation so they don't infect any more people and then life goes back to normal for everyone else :) Until the government gets more vaccines for us that will be our way of life sadly. But it means we go back quick to 0 cases!
DeleteSo happy you were able to watch your son! It's sad about all the restrictions. My partner isn't able to watch me take my son to his swimming lessons.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Corinne
Oh that's so sad :( We love watching the kids do sports!
DeleteIt's nice to hear your lockdown has been lifted.

Clever idea to wear a bright color so that your son could pick you out in the crowd of spectators. The look is fabulous as well.

I like that button bag. That would be nice to put my camera in. The handles look sturdy too. The last outfit is a cute and casual one.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead.

Very nice!
ReplyDeleteHello!! you look really nice and the outfits are great.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!!
Your button bag is so fun and you've obviously took care of it well because it still looks like it's in great condition even after 14 years. Talking about getting your money's worth out of a piece.
ReplyDeleteyes it's aged so well! :)
DeleteI am glad the lockdown was lifted so your son could compete. We are going into another mask mandate tomorrow in St. Louis, Missouri. SIGH. I really love that yellow cardi, I have one almost exactly like it in that same color. The black bag with the buttons is cute, too! Enjoy your week!

I'm so glad you got to watch your son compete, and that you haven't had to miss any adventures, Mica!
ReplyDeleteThe outfits are so fun - hooray for touches of colour!
Love both outfits. Those are pretty great cardigans.
ReplyDeleteI love the mustard, black, and gray outfit. Such a pretty color combination! And yay for getting to see your son compete! I would not have thought of pairing purple and gray. It looks great! I’ll admit that I have trouble styling gray. This is helpful.

ReplyDeleteMica, I really like both of these outfits! The cardigans are both such lovely colors. And your button bag is amazing! I might never switch bags if I had that one!

I have to switch bags regularly to justify all the bags I have, haha! :)
DeleteSuch cute outfits! I've always loved the look of a cardigan paired with a scarf over top. The yellow and grey one is a great outfit combo, and mustard is a favorite of mine for fall.

I love blush pink and white paired together, so pretty! The pop of teal looks so good with the outfit, too. I don't think I've ever tried styling it with blush pink before, I'll have to take note! I'm also loving those magenta pants. Such nice styling, Mica! Thanks for the inspo and I hope you have a great rest of the week!

THE STYLE CONTOUR
Thanks all for your kind comments! We were so lucky to be able to watch my son compete!
ReplyDeleteGREAT bag!! I love that it opens so widely so you can really see what's in your purse. I get so frustrated searching for something that I KNOW is in my purse but I can't see it or feel it. Handy little pop open pockets on the outside.
ReplyDeleteJust went through my scarves and purged those that were a heavier fabric - except my beloved blanket scarves from Old Navy. I have a big chest and I just don't need all that extra fabric on top of what nature has given me. Kept all of my floatier, gauzier scarves like the one you are wearing in the first pics.
