What I wore:
Jacket: Jeanswest Kensley summer tie-dye kimono
Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in chartreuseShorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoes: Kmart white chunky platform sneakers
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag
Why I wore it:
I loved this outfit! So much so that I repeated the Bermuda denim shorts, yellow tank and navy printed kimono outfit again, just with a different kimono a couple weeks later! I just loved the way the mustard tank went with the navy tie dye kimono. Colourful but also easy to pull together for a busy day. After the school run we hit up some local opshops, and then ran around a couple different supermarkets looking for last minute party things and cake ingredients for my son's party that weekend. Woolies really let me down there but by the second store that had no stock despite saying they had it online, I'd come up with another plan for my son's cake that thankfully worked well!
As my focus was on everything we needed to buy and do for the party, I kept accessories as easy as possible - blue necklace and blue bag to compliment all the different shades of blue in the navy tie dye kimono. And of course sneakers for a lot of running around!
Last worn: tie dye kimono, blue statement beaded necklace, mustard yellow tank, denim Bermuda shorts, chunky sneakers, sky blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: tie dye kimono with olive shorts, mustard yellow tank and pencil skirt, denim Bermuda shorts and scarf, chunky sneakers and floral dress, sky blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC and blue dress for monochrome outfit.
Favourite Rebecca Minkoff Bag In My Handbag Collection:
What I wore:
Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maji metallic tank in soft green and silver
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue
Why I wore it:
This was such a humid day and since we were spending it outside I tried to pick a nice light outfit. This metallic tank was overdue a wear and such an easy combo with the distressed denim shorts. Wanted a cover up for my arms though despite the heat so went for this viscose kimono - it's lightweight and perfect on a humid day. Such a pretty navy print too!Again I matched the accessories to the kimono with the navy tassel necklace and the blue Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack. The only issue with this outfit was that at one point while playing in the playground with the kids I'd had my phone out for taking a pic. Instead of putting it back in the backpack I put it into the pocket of my shorts. Mild panic sometime later when another parent picked up a phone on the other side of the playground and waved it around and I realised my phone wasn't in my bag or pockets. Thankfully the lock screen is a family pic of us so it was easy to prove it was my phone 😅 And thankfully it was an honest person who found it!
Phone drama aside it was a lovely day even with the heat and humidity!
Last worn: navy printed kimono, navy tassel necklace, metallic silver tank, distressed denim shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack.
Other ways to wear: navy printed kimono and white shorts, metallic silver tank and purple jeans, distressed denim shorts and striped tee, Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack and midi dress.
Last worn: navy printed kimono, navy tassel necklace, metallic silver tank, distressed denim shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack.
Other ways to wear: navy printed kimono and white shorts, metallic silver tank and purple jeans, distressed denim shorts and striped tee, Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack and midi dress.
How You Can Wear It:
Blue being my favourite colour, I have a lot of blue kimonos, but this 'tank, denim shorts and accessories matching the colour of the kimono' outfit formula will work for any colourful kimono you have! Matching accessories to the colours in your kimono is an easy way to make a bright statement topper work in your outfit.

ReplyDeleteLove the Bermuda shorts. I didn't get any last year when they were all the rage but I am thinking I need this length in my life, it's perfect. Also, kimonos are the perfect throw over as weather changes from mid-day to early evening. Hope the party was a hit!

Your first outfit is my favourite, Mica! I love the pop of mustard yellow with the blue, and that tie-dye kimono is absolutely gorgeous. Phew, weren't you lucky your phone was found by an honest person. I once left my handbag behind in the Ladies at a charity shop. Obviously I panicked, but luckily an honest person had handed it in at the till! xxx

They are such a staple for me with mum life! :)
DeleteHi again Mica,
ReplyDeleteNice to see your kimonos back on the blog! These are perfect for those transitioning days right? Like that humid day when maybe a jacket could feel like too much but you needed something to cover up, so this light kimono is the perfect option to replace a heavy jacket.
I like both combinations, but the first one with the yellow is fantastic and really happy, actually I am obsessed with yellow lately, specially mustard yellow.
Pablo
