Navy Scarf, Neverfull and Colourful Skinny Jeans: Weekday Wear Link Up

Two identical outfit formulas for today's Weekday Wear Link Up, but outfits for two very different days! Both a winter staple formula of skinny jeans, blue scarves, v-neck tees and cardigans. Accessorised with my Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote bag.

What I wore:

King Island walk outfit sass and bide skinny jeans white tee cardigan bird print scarf and Louis vuitton neverfull | away from blue

Jacket: Paper Scissors grey wrap cardigan
Scarf: navy bird print scarf
TeeAtmos & Here white essential v-neck tee
JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a very fun day at Wellington Point! We were lucky to get there when the tide was out so we could go for a walk out to King Island after lunch. When the tide is out, a sand bridge appears all the way from Wellington Point right onto the island. It's the first time we've been able to walk out there with both boys since my my now 4 old was a baby. The tide has not been in our favour before. The kids enjoyed exploring the island although I did regret the walk the next day - while it's a short walk at a couple of k's there and back, walking on sand is a bit rough on my injured knee, even though I took my shoes off to do it.

I wasn't sure what the weather would be like as last time we were there it was cold and windy - so I picked a light cardigan, my navy scarf and a fun pair of magenta skinny jeans. I really like these magenta jeans with blue and the grey cardigan was a good neutral. I thought the white birds in the print matched the white v-neck tee well too! I didn't end up taking this cardigan off - it was a warm day but the sea breeze meant I kept my arms covered. Although it was busy on the beach it was nice everyone kept their distance!

What I wore:

ScarfStella McCartney heart print scarf
TeeAtmos & Here black essential v-neck tee
Jeans: Jeanswest Harper skinny pant in Russet
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

A bit of a darker outfit for this cooler day! With the wet weather we headed to our local shopping centre for a bit of a browse and to pick up a few groceries. This was before the recent COVID cases in Brisbane, we are back to shopping online 99% of the time now! But it was good to get some presents for an upcoming birthday party, and treat ourselves to some new books (the kids got some Disney ones) and a Boost juice. They had a colour burst promo on so I decided to try the blue smoothie - not only was it delicious it is the first time I'd have a blue smoothie and I had to get a pic as it matched the blues in my outfit so well!

The Stella McCartney heart print scarf was a bit of matchy-matchy too, with the black in the print matching the black v-neck tee. I liked the navy cardigan with the scarf too, even though they are different shades of blue I think it worked well. The burgundy jeans added a little extra colour and the Louis Vuitton neverfull bag carried all of our water bottles and some snacks for the boys, as well as all of my essentials, so I didn't need to carry the baby bag as well.

How You Can Wear It:

Navy scarves go with so much! For something a little different you can try wearing them with colourful jeans instead of the classic blue denim. It's a good way to add more colour to a classic jeans, tee and cardigan outfit in winter.

Leather Jackets, Skinny Jeans and Colourful Scarves

I haven't worn my leather jackets much this winter. It usually warms up a bit during the day in Brisbane so they have felt a little too heavy, but two colder days in July had me reaching for my leather jackets for the early mornings.

What I wore:

cobalt leahter jacket with grey knit pink colourful scarf and magenta ssass & bide skinny jeans winter SAHM outfit | away from the blue

magenta sass and bide jeans with Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight | away from blue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | cobalt leather jacket pink diamond scarf magenta jeans grey knit winter mum style

Jumper: Jeanswest Kara foil pullover in smoke marl and silver
JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

A very colourful outfit! I really liked the combination of a jumper, these magenta skinny jeans and a pink printed scarf last time I wore it. This time around I picked my grey polka dot knit and this multi coloured diamond print scarf. Even if the pink didn't match the magenta of the jeans exactly I really liked this combination! Especially with this bright cobalt leather jacket for an extra bit of warmth on a very cold and windy day. As well as working from home I had some tradies over coming in and out of the house all day, and Cooper had a bath at the groomers. A very busy day!

What I wore:

Jumper: thrifted Valleygirl blue knit jumper
Jeans: Jeanswest Harper skinny pant in Russet
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

We were running a little late this morning and I think that's why my scarf looks like it was thrown on in a hurry - it was 😂 I thought the blue and red in the scarf went nicely with the cobalt knit and burgundy jeans. The black leather jacket didn't stay on long though, by the afternoon both it and the scarf had come off as it was so warm at school pickup time a jumper and jeans were all that were needed.

The scarf came off pretty quickly in the morning as after school drop off we went to grab some more milk and run a couple of errands. It was cold enough to want the scarf on, but my youngest son who had decided not to wear a jumper was cold and I figured it would be better giving him my scarf than letting him drag my leather jacket on the ground! He did look very cute in it!

How You Can Wear it:

Jeans and a leather jacket is a classic winter outfit combination. You can add a little extra colour with some bright skinny jeans or a colourful scarf, or both!

Maxi Dresses Layered For Winter With Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Neverfull

Taking advantage of some warmer winter days to wear my maxi dresses again with a few extra layers. I love Brisbane's warmer winter days when it's a mild 24 degrees Celsius in the middle of the day, but not so much the cold 11-12 degrees overnight and early morning 😂 Both of these outfits felt a little dressed up for some fun events I'd been looking forward to for a while!

What I wore:

black maxi dress and denim jacket with louis vuitton monogram shawl scarf and damier azur neverfull winter | awayfromblue

black maxi dress and Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue Instagram | black maxi dress, denim jacket, Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull and monogram shawl in bleu

Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
Dress: black Jeanswest halterneck maxi dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

So excited for this day! I picked my simplest maxi dress, this plain thrifted black one, and we all kinda of matched in our outfits as we had our family photo shoot. We were supposed to have it at the start of the year but then the restrictions hit and it had to be rescheduled.

Of course this being a halter neck maxi dress it was a little too cold to wear on its own so I added the denim jacket. The blue Louis Vuitton shawl was a bit too warm in the heat of the day but I was thankful for it in the shade and in the colder evening as we had a late afternoon photo session.

Carried my Louis Vuitton damier azur neverfull bag to fit a few extra things in - water bottles and some snacks for the kids to keep their energy levels up. Not that they needed any of that after having a glass of complimentary fruit juice when we arrived 😂 Cooper appreciated the doggy snacks we brought though!

It was so fun to dress up and wear makeup again!

What I wore:

Awayfromblue Instagram | Kmart Tropicana sleeveless tiered maxi dress layered for witner with white knit jumper and louis vuitton neverfull tote and ankle boots

Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
Knit: white vintage knit jumper from my mum's wardrobe
Dress: Kmart Tropicana sleeveless tiered maxi dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

This outfit was a little more dressed down than the one above, not as much makeup for starters!  Still felt formal enough for a kid's birthday party.  It was our first birthday party after restrictions and it was so good seeing the boys playing with all their friends. This white knit from my mum's wardrobe was actually pretty warm and standing in the back yard in the sun watching the kids on the trampoline I was glad it didn't have full length sleeves. Was just perfect again when it cooled off in the afternoon. And I surprisingly managed to keep the white jumper clean all day!

Added a couple extra accessories with the statement earrings and tassel necklace. The Louis Vuitton damier azur neverfull bag was perfect for taking everything for myself and the boys without worrying about carrying a baby bag too.

Oh and if you've been following along, I completed no buy July again this year, so that's now 6 years I've been avoiding fashion spending in July! It can be tricky with all the sales in that month, but honestly this year we aren't going out much and I'm finding I'm uninspired to shop!

How You Can Wear It:

A maxi dress can work well on a warmer winter day with the addition of cosy layers. A knit jumper, scarf, or denim jacket can keep you warm and comfortable, and can easily be removed if the day heats up.

The Magnificent 8: Hello Yellow!

For something different, sharing a Wednesday post again. I am not yet returning to the 3 posts a week I did before Coronavirus hit, this is a special post as I've joined the Magnificent Eight! The theme today is "Hello Yellow", one I had a lot of fun with as I have quite a few yellow pieces in my wardrobe now!

So I'm sharing two outfits, one I wore on the weekend and the other during the week for the school run. Because even though it's a blog collaboration it wouldn't be my blog if I wasn't showing you what I actually wore, would it! Scroll down to see them and find out more about the Magnificent 8 ladies!

What I wore:

mustard yellow cardigan with black nobody denim skinny jeans converse navy bag mixed print tank | awayfromblue

mustard cardigan, Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight | away from the blue

awayfromblue Instagram | hellow yellow mustard cardi mixed print tank black nobody denim skinny jeans navy micro bedford bag

Tank: thrifted Target mixed print colourful printed tank
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

I had this cardigan in mind for the Hello Yellow theme and was wondering what top to wear with it, as it was so warm I decided on a tank. This tank was also thrifted, just like the cardi, and the yellow in the mixed print works so well with the mustard cardigan! It was an extremely warm day so a scarf wasn't needed, I even rolled up the sleeves of my cardigan for a bit!

Kept the rest of my outfit neutral with the Converse and my black Nobody Denim skinny jeans, and the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag

Simple but colourful for a warm winter day in the playground. Even though we hadn't had any COVID cases in our state for 8 days at the time I was still a little unsure about taking the kids to a playground for the first time since Iso! I seemed to be the only one worried, the playground was so busy! The kids had a blast playing there even though they had to wait their turn a few times. We used to visit playgrounds regularly before everything happened, so it was nice to get back to it, and easier on my injured knee than the exploring around local trails and empty parks that we have been doing instead the past few months.

What I wore:

yellow tee with green skinny jeans navy cardigan and accessories scarf and bedford bag | away from the blue

green and blue outfit with navy Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight | awayfromblueRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

This outfit was pulled together from other outfits I've worn before! It's not the first time I've worn the scarf and cardigan together, and I really liked this yellow tee last time I wore it with olive green jeans so I wanted to try it with these green jeans as well. I added the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag as it matches so nicely with the navy scarf and cardigan, and again was a nice neutral with the bright top and jeans.

Was a quiet day - doing the school run and taking the little one out to hunt for more books at the opshops. With it being No Buy July I wasn't going to browse for clothes but thought we could go have a look for some books. The kids always like picking up a book or two whenever we stop at an opshop. And with getting back into reading over Iso after my neighbour started up a virtual book club, I wanted to have a browse of the books for myself as well! Was a fun way to spend a small part of the morning after school drop off.

How You Can Wear It:

Yellow is such a cheerful colour to wear - and it pairs well with other brights too! Try it with green, blue, navy, or keep it simple and stick with neutral black skinny jeans.

Maxi Skirts and Knits: Weekday Wear Link Up!

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up I'm sharing two winter maxi skirt outfits for two very different days! A bright and colourful one for a day outside enjoying the winter sun and a neutral one for working from home.

What I wore:

navy and orange outfit denim jacket cobalt knit ochre maxi skirt winter mum style | away from blue

rust maxi skirt and Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight | away from the blue

awayfromblue Instagram | denim jacket cobalt knit orange ochre maxi skirt park mum style outfit winter

Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Jumper: thrifted Valleygirl blue knit jumper
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

The knit jumper and the denim jacket together may have been a little bit overkill on a warm winter day, but it was very windy! I felt nice and cosy all layered up, and although I thought I wouldn't need a scarf I did miss it when we were in the shade and the wind picked up! Definitely didn't need any more layers on the sun though, it was quite strong and warm sunshine.

I really liked the colour combo of the cobalt knit with the ochre maxi skirt, I need to wear this again! I thought the pale blue denim biker jacket and the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag were great additions to the bright colours.

This maxi skirt is quite light in the wind but it's also pretty voluminous and so never flew up too much thank goodness!

30 Ways To Wear A Navy Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Regan

Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
JumperWarehouse grey bead front jumper
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

Unlike the outfit above, I ended up taking this denim jacket off when it warmed up! This pretty embellished knit is one I tend to very sparingly wear as it is so pretty it feels a bit too special for everyday wear, but it was overdue a wear so I got it out again! Paired it simply with the black thrifted maxi skirt and my classic dark blue denim jacket, and again the Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag. This was such a comfortable outfit for running around a lot and also working from home most of the day.

Did the school drop off in the morning and wished I'd added a scarf, but by school pickup time I'd taken off the denim jacket as it was too warm! Took my son to his first in-person specialist appointment since iso! While restrictions had been lifted a few weeks before, some sniffles kept us away from the office and continuing to do our fortnightly session via telehealth. It was so good to be able to go into the office again! Face to face is much more entertaining for a 4 year old than a zoom call, although I'm glad we had those sessions to fall back on over Iso. The benefits of technology!

How You Can Wear It:
A maxi skirt can be layered up for a warmer winter day by adding a cosy knit and a denim jacket.

Matching Scarves To Skinny Jeans - Weekday Wear Link Up

At it again with my matchy-matchy! Picking some colours out of these Fashion Scarf Girl Scarves I bought last month to build an outfit around. While I just posted these scarves last week, this time around I'm adding them to more colourful outfits with my skinny jeans. I wanted to wear them twice close together to meet my "wear any new purchase twice in the month I buy it" goal. Luckily I managed to wear both of these twice just before the end of June! Still going strong with No Buy July this month so far.

What I wore:

pink and purple skinny jeans and grey tee outfit matching printed scarf | awayfromblue

sass and bide magenta skinny jeans with Rebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue Instagram | pink and purple cardigan and skinny jeans outfit with grey tee and super cute fluffy dog

ScarfFashion Scarf Girl lush forest scarf
TopAtmos&Here grey Arizona zip tee
JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

A colourful outfit for a bit of a sad day. Added all the colour to cheer myself up a bit, with my Sass and Bide magenta skinny jeans and purple cardigan. I really like pink and purple together so it won't be the first time I wear these pieces together! Plus the colours matched the pink and purple in the forest print of my scarf, even if the pink is a different shade.

The blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag matched the colours in the scarf too and I thought the grey tee was a good neutral piece to add to all those colours!

On this day we got to see our dog off as she went home with her family. Originally we were only going to look after her a little while, but as Coronavirus took hold things got more complicated. Plans changed a few times, so with her being with us so long it was a little hard to say goodbye, but nice to see her going home.

What I wore:

ScarfFashion Scarf Girl colourful print scarf in green
TeeAtmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

Again, matching the colours in a printed scarf to the colour of my jeans! The green skinny jeans work well with the green print in this scarf, and the blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag matched the blue bits nicely too! Kept the rest of my outfit a little more neutral with the black cardigan and grey long sleeve tee. I was thankful for this thicker black cardigan in the evening, as we had to again sit outside the hall for my son's sports class as there were too many people training in the venue for the COVID restrictions at the time. The cardigan and scarf kept me extra cosy on a very cold winter night!

How You Can Wear It

A a colourful printed scarf  can be so easy to wear if you match it to another colourful piece in our outfit, like I have here with the bright skinny jeans, and the cardigan in the first outfit. You can always add a neutral base like a grey tee too to balance out the colours.
