You know I love my maxi skirts, especially striped ones! It's fun to introduce another print to a striped skirt by adding a statement scarf, especially if you're wearing a basic block colour tee. Such a simple yet colourful way to dress for spring.
What I wore:
Top: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
Skirt: thrifted pinstripe maxi skirt
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony
Why I wore it:
I loved this outfit so much! The maxi skirt is a delicate pinstripe so it looks more grey in pics, but I feel in person you can see the navy pinstripe a bit better (and in the bag closeup shot). I thought it would be fun to match the stripes on the skirt with a striped scarf, and this one added a great touch of colour to the grey outfit. I really like pink and grey together, so wore my Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag to add a little more pink (and to match the blush stripes in the scarf nicely).A simple and comfortable outfit for a quiet Friday with the kids - we went to the playground in the morning, picked up a few groceries on the way home, and then did some baking. I made a savoury pancake that I used to make for the boys when they were little. They each took one bite and decided they didn't like it anymore, ha! Oh well!
Last worn: striped tassel scarf, grey tunic, pinstripe maxi skirt, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Darren Bag.
Other ways to wear: striped tassel scarf and boucle blazer, grey tunic in the office, pinstripe maxi skirt and neon bag, black ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Darren Bag and sundress.
Perfect for pregnancy: ballet flats in second trimester.
What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Darren Messenger
What I wore:
Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl pretty pink diamond scarf
Tee: thrifted Emerson navy slouchy tee (new purchase)
Skirt: thrifted Cotton On navy and grey striped maxi skirt (new purchase)
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony
Why I wore it:
A bit of an early morning photoshoot! I set my alarm a little earlier than the boys get up to have some quiet time to myself each morning - I read my bible, do a little bit of blog work and then get them up and get their breakfast before we all get dressed for the day. When I woke up on this Monday morning and saw the fog, I decided instead of relaxing to get up, get dressed, and go out to snap some photos.I went out on the street to get a better pic of the fog, and passed one of my neighbours. Luckily, it's easy to explain why you're carting a camera and tripod around when the streets are so foggy - he was happy with my "taking pictures of the fog!" explanation and it was easy to move a little further down the street and be hidden by the fog so he couldn't see, ha! But I think I'll stick to backyard photos!
I'd planned to wear this navy tee as I knew it would match so nicely with the navy stripes in the maxi skirt, but I did have to add the denim jacket as I went out the door as it was a little chilly at 6am, even with the big bright scarf. I thought the navy and pink combo was a fun one, even though the blush pink Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag doesn't match the pale pink diamonds on the scarf exactly it was a nice combination. I ended up taking the scarf and denim jacket off later in the day when out with the boys as it warmed up so nicely!
Last worn: denim jacket, pink diamond scarf, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag (above). First time I've posted the navy tee and striped maxi skirt on the blog as they are recent purchases.
Other ways to wear: denim jacket and shift dress, diamond scarf and monochrome grey outfit, Converse and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag in the office.
Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester.

I've never tried a maxi skirt but I love the way that they look and the fact that you can style them with pretty much anything. I also love the way that you've matched them with colours and patterns.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week :)

Thanks Amy! I love maxi skirts, they are such a staple for me!

I love both of these outfits, Mica! Both skirts look so comfy and stylish. Both of those scarves are so pretty and the pink bag looks great with both outfits. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead, Mica! Thanks for the linkup! :) XXX
ReplyDeleteTaking pictures of the fog would totally not serve as explanation here, it is foggy so often that no one really cares!
ReplyDeletehaha it's not so common here in Brisbane, maybe a couple of times a year?
DeleteI love both the outfits for sure, and that Darren bag went so well with them! And I love fog (even though I don't like driving through them) so two thumbs up for me:D In our neighbourhood, most think that they're celebrities that they think you're taking a picture of them if you take your camera out within their vicinity so I just always take my photos in the backyard:P
ReplyDeleteYes I'm glad it cleared up before we had to drive anywhere! I'm definitely going to stick to backyard photos at home though, ha!
DeleteThe pink and grey in the first outfit are so pretty together! I really like that pink scarf! Your colorful scarf in the second outfit is so fun too! Hope you have a good start to your week!
ReplyDeleteI love maxi skirts too and both of these outfits are so cute! I am so uncomfortable taking blog photos with other people around. I usually stick to my backyard too but it is fun to take pic's in other locations!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
I am trying other locations, but it's easier with strangers than with neighbours, haha!
DeleteIsn't it funny when kids just decide that some food they used to love is now not for them anymore? That's been happening a lot with Eleanor lately as her little toddler taste palette evolves.
ReplyDeleteCourtney ~ Sartorial Sidelines
It's always right after you make a big batch of it too, grr! haha!
DeleteI haven't been wearing my maxi skirts much recently but I still do love them! Looking forward to wearing them with boots this winter!
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Yes I love maxis and boots!
DeleteOoh, the fog photos are fun! Funny that your neighbor had to investigate your photo shoot! Your pink bag is a perfect complement to both of these outfits- great choice!
ReplyDeleteOh I'd probably question someone walking past with a tripod as well haha!
DeleteBeautiful clothes, everything fits together.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a nice day.
How pretty are those scarves, and you have the best RM bags <3
ReplyDeleteYou are the best inspiration for maxis in all kinds of weather, Mica!!
ReplyDeleteI love these.

Your pictures look very misty, hope you're having great weather Mica. Enjoy the week and thanks for the linkup, nice to see your maxi skirts too. Jacqui x
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely Spring outfits, Mica! My favourite is your second outfit, as it is a little bolder. Those foggy photos are fabulous. I'm hearing you on taking photos in the street, which can be quite daunting! xxx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! The back yard is much less scary, haha!
DeleteI love the way you styled these outfits! So stylish, but comfortable! Thanks for sharing! I hope you had a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeletemelissakacar.blogspot.com
You look great in both outfits.. so comfortable.. I especially like the colors in the second one.
ReplyDeleteHehe my son is SO like that! He will love one item one day and not the next. It really does drive me bonkers because I stress over what to feed him. I almost bought the mini Darren this past summer sale from RM but didn't and now kicking myself for it. I love how it matches your scarves. I like the contrast between each one. The fog is such a pretty backdrop. Great idea on taking the opportunity to get some photos. The weather on our end cannot make up its mind! Hot one day and cold the next...ugh!
ReplyDeleteMaureen | www.littlemisscasual.com
If you can pick up the Darren in another sale you should! I love this one :) We are having an odd spring weather wise, lots of very hot summer-like days!
DeleteI really love your blush and grey/navy combo, it's such a good pairing. I always hate when people ask me questions if I'm out with the tripod... but at least you had the cover of the fog, haha
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Yes I was glad I had an excuse and didn't have to explain personal style blogs to them, ha!
DeleteBoth fun and comfy-looking outfits, Mica! If you start wearing pink all the time, will you have to change your blog to "Away from the Pink"? ha ha! Love the foggy photos!
ReplyDeleteSavoury pancakes sound yummy. My mom used to make some with potato that I loved when I was a kid.
Wishing you a great week ahead, my dear!
I have been wearing so much pink lately, indeed, haha!
Deletetoo cute! You sure know how to style maxi skirts.
ReplyDeleteLove how you mixed the patterns! Such great looks!

OOO I love this bag! The shape is so unique and will be perfect for day to day

You always have such cute outfits. I love the first look, so simple but so perfect. The combo of a tee and maxi is so lovely and I just love that scarf. The bag is very chic too. You look so lovely. It is great you wore this for a Friday with the boys. The story about the pancake made me smile. Kids change their mind so quickly, one day they love to eat something, the next they want to move onto something else, you just never know with them.
ReplyDeleteThe second outfit is fabulous too. I love stripes. That maxi is fantastic...and great photos with the fog in the background. I admire you for taking the photographs yourself, I rarely remember to do it. I usually just leave to to my husband to take photos when we go on our weekend trips but I was thinking of starting to photograph my outfits more often.
I've been taking my photos with the tripod and remote for a while, hubby got fed up being asked to take a pic everyday when I started the blog, ha!
DeleteYou have so many cute maxi skirts! I really need more in my wardrobe, I can't believe I don't have very many. (I only have 1! How is that possible?!) Have a great week Mica!
ReplyDeleteI have far too many - but I do wear them a lot!
DeleteI love this comfy look and the scarf adds the perfect warmth especially with the colder fall weather on its way!

I love both of your scarves—the prints are so bright and unique! They really do make the outfit. And it's funny that you've been having fog—just like San Francisco!

I love the looks of these skirts!
ReplyDeleteYou accessorize so sweetly. Happy you linked this up with The Style Six.
ReplyDeleteI think that's wonderful you give your self some me time in the morning. A lot of morning all I have time for is to shower and get dress for work.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amysfashionblog.com/blog-home
Yes it's hard to fit everything in! I find I am a little calmer and more relaxed if I get some quiet time in the morning before the boys are up!
DeleteThat purple scarf is so pretty! And of course that bag, that's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops of Sapphire
You always have the cutest scarves dear, love these, especially the 2nd look.
ReplyDeleteJessica | notjessfashion.com
I agree that adding a fun scarf is a great way to make the outfit more interesting. It's too bad that your boys no longer like those pancakes. And that story with your neighbor in the fog is so interesting. I know what you mean and I've had to hide my photo taking from people I know as well.
ReplyDeleteKathrin | Polar Bear Style
It's easier to not have to explain blogging to people, haha! I prefer to keep it kinda private when I'm taking pics!
DeleteThat is such a pretty lightpink RM bag :)
ReplyDeletehaha! I love your interaction with your neighbor! We have new neighbors that just moved in next door, and luckily, they haven't caught me taking pictures yet! (Since our backyards are attached) I love love love the scarf in your first pic! What a pretty pop of color, and the little poms are so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteit's always so awkward when they catch you taking pics!
