Printed Maxi Skirts, Scarves and Grey Jumpers: SAHM Winter Style

While the winter weather hung around a little longer than expected to in Brisbane, I took the chance to enjoy getting layered up with some grey knits and printed scarves. It was easy to take the scarves off as it heated up in the middle of the day.

What I wore:

Away From Blue Blog | Grey Jumper printed scarf tribal maxi skirt red bag

Away From Blue blog | Marc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs scarf in Island pine-print
JumperTopshop grey knitted scoop neck top
Skirt: Izabel London Aztec print maxi skirt (C/O)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Why I wore it:

Wore this to work from home and do the day care drop off/pick up. Nice and comfy! I'd had the idea of wearing this grey jumper and skirt together, but when I put it on it seemed a bit dull. I decided on this scarf to try add some colour, and the bright bag too.

I really wish I could fold this scarf better. It's got a beautiful, colourful print in the centre but I always seem to show more of the cream border than anything when I wear it.

Last worn: printed scarf, grey knit, printed maxi skirt, ballet flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag.

Other ways to wearprinted scarf with pink and blue, grey knit and a third trimester belly, printed maxi skirt and a black tee, ballet flats and a pencil skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag and a maxi dress.

More grey knits, under $50:

Scarf: red tartan scarf
JumperWarehouse grey bead front jumper
Skirt: Target black and white striped maxi skirt
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual

Why I wore it:

Since I'd liked the grey knit and printed maxi skirt combination above, I wore a similar version again to run some errands and go to the doctors.

I wasn't too sure about the beaded detail on the top and the print in the scarf, if it looked a bit too 'busy'. I changed my opinion back and forth a few times during the day, and I'm still undecided now looking at the photos. Probably not a combination I'd try again, even though I wouldn't call it a complete outfit fail.

Last worn: red tartan scarfembellished jumper, striped maxi skirt, black ballet flats (above), Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag (above).

Other ways to wearred tartan scarf and jeansembellished jumper and skinny jeans, striped maxi skirt and a blue jumper, black ballet flats and a printed dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag with a black outfit.

  9. I love the beaded top of the second outfit. I think I probably agree with you that the pattern of the scarf is clashing a little too much especially as the beading is so lovely. But it's always good to try these things. The red is fantastic against the grey and black.

  14. Well I hope it warms up for you soon! Next week is officially fall for us, so I know you are totally ready for Spring over there. (; I love that scarves are pretty and functional. We totally just need them to work with everything, especially as these last few days start to cool off. I love that design on that second sweater and actually remember you wearing it before. Come to think ,I'm pretty sure it was one of your first posts I ever commented on! (:

  37. I love how well you wear your scarves! I live a scarfy life vicariously through you, because I for the life of me cannot wear or manage scarves! I have 4 to be exact, which usually hang out in my closet :(. Love the layered look, we are starting to have to layer here since fall is coming..its still pretty unseasonably warm( not that I am complaining) but soon I will become a disguised penguin, and that wont be fun!

  44. such cute maxi skirts! Haha I know what you mean about being undecided about an outfit...I hate it when I can't make up my mind if something works or not and then I just end up feeling really self-conscious the whole time. It looks great though, and I love the pops of red! :)
