Yellow Tees, Jeans, Olive Darren Bag and Floral Cover Ups

I've been wearing a lot of pink lately, so decided to break it up a little! Still sticking with my trusty jeans and tee staple outfit, just picking yellow tees this time with fun floral cover ups and my Rebecca Minkoff mini Darren bag in olive.

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff olive mini Darren | awyafromtheblue

Jacket: thrifted no label tropical print tassel cover up
Necklace: thrifted gold and pastel blue beaded necklace with grey string
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Jeans: Dannii Minogue denim high waist skinny jean in ecru
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual plus plus jade beads and Roie Designs bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff olive mini Darren

Why I wore it:

It's not the first time I've worn this tropical print cover up with the white skinny jeans. And I wore a yellow tee that time too! I really like the combination, just something so summery about it! With the pastel yellow tee as well I felt this was such a fun and colourful outfit. With all that colour, chose my little Rebecca Minkoff mini Darren crossbody in olive as a neutral shade to go with it all. And I only had to carry the essentials, as I had the school drop off, a couple errands, then working from home before school pickup in the afternoon. Even tried being a little matchy-mathcy with my bracelets with this outfit too.

Last worn: tropical print cover up, yellow tee, blue beaded necklace, white skinny jeans, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff mini Darren bag.

Other ways to weartropical print cover up and skirt, yellow tee and shorts, white skinny jeans and cardigan, Converse and dress, Rebecca Minkoff mini Darren bag and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

Jacket: Jeanswest Delilah long line kimono in green floral
Necklace: thrifted wooden geometric bead necklace
Tee: Big W mustard v-neck tee
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff olive mini Darren

Why I wore it:

I needed all the colours on this day for a bit of a boost so went for this very bold combination of the mustard tee with the green floral print duster. I had a busy day with the school run, working from home, and Cooper had some surgery at the vets. I felt like the bright yellow and bright green was a nice way to make myself seem more cheerful than I was. And I love that green necklace whenever I wear it with this duster.

The black jeans made the colours pop more too, and again I went with the little mini Darren bag as I just needed the essentials. Thankfully, all went well at the vets for Cooper!

Last worn: green floral duster, mustard tee, geometric necklace, faded black skinny jeans, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini Darren bag (above).

Other ways to weargreen floral duster and dress, mustard tee and maxi skirt, faded black skinny jeans and band tee, Rebecca Minkoff mini Darren bag and shorts.

Yellow and Blue Outfits With Yellow Crossbody Bags | Weekday Wear Link Up

Wearing little yellow bags with another yellow piece in my outfits, and a bit of blue too, for easy spring denim outfits.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Eliza summer poncho in yellow floral
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Tee: Jeanswest Sophie navy v-neck tee
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold

Why I wore it:

I needed to have a bright and colourful outfit to surprise my sons who were getting awards at school. I'd had to dash away from work to see it, so I got there a little late and was stuck in the back of the crowd, but was so pleased that they both saw and noticed me. I think this yellow cape is very hard to miss!

The navy tee and denim shorts are a combination I'm sure I've worn before, but it's the first time I've tried this mustard bag with the brighter yellow cape. I really liked this combination, and the bag was just roomy enough for the essentials for the school run and a camera for taking some photos of the ceremony.

Last worn: yellow printed cape, navy v-neck tee, gold filigree necklace, boyfriend denim shorts, navy Havaianas, mustard micro Regan bag.

Other ways to wearyellow printed cape with black and white outfit, navy v-neck tee and olive shorts, boyfriend denim shorts in fully thrifted outfitRebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag worn 30 ways.

Ways to Wear Colourful Handbags

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest Melanie floral kimono
NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
ShoesAdidas Stan Smith sneakers in white and navy
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip

Why I wore it:

This pastel tee was a lot more muted, so I added a little more yellow to brighten it up. With the yellow tee and black denim skirt, I wanted to add a little more colour to avoid looking too bumble-bee like, but I felt this duster wasn't quite as brightening as it could have been. I do like the navy against the yellow tee, but it needed an extra touch of colour, and so I added a third shade of yellow in with this cheerful Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag. It's such a fun accessory!

Nice and comfortable for a busy day with the school run and working from home again, as well as helping in my son's classroom in the morning and a couple of errands after I picked the kids up from school in the afternoon.

How You Can Wear It:

Yellow bags are fun pops of colour to add to your outfit. Like any colourful bag, they can still work well even if the shade or shades of yellow in your outfit are different, as you can see here in these outfits.

Denim Skirts, Colourful Tees and Floral Kimonos With Luna Edie Bag

Wearing some new kimonos I got back in December! I was very spoiled for Christmas and got a lot of nice things. I did a little opshopping in December too, so I have a few new pieces I wore in these outfits.

What I wore:

marigold tee with black denim skirt sneakers floral kimono edie luna blue bag | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue worn crossbody | awayfromblue

JacketWoven Heart gold floral kimono (Christmas gift)
Necklace: thrifted Eb&Ive turquoise wooden bead multi strand statement necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in marigold
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue (Christmas gift)

Why I wore it:

Wore this for an easy but colourful outfit for a trip to a beach playground. It's one we don't go to as often as we should but the kids really enjoy - there are so many little play areas all next to each other and once the kids have had enough of the playgrounds we can go play on the beach for a bit. Thankfully it was a hot and humid day so it wasn't too bad when my son tripped and fell into the water at the beach! We still ended up heading home after that though.

I knew I wanted to be a bit matchy-matchy with this pretty new kimono and wear the turquoise beaded statement necklace I'd thrifted, doesn't it match the turquoise flowers in the print so well? The marigold tee was another bright pop of colour, and the denim skirt was another recent opshop find too, a nice length for running around the playground with the kids. Although I did wish I'd worn shorts or a maxi skirt when I was sitting on the beach as the kids played.

First wearing of another Christmas gift as well with this Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag in Luna blue. I'd fallen in love with the colour earlier last year when it was released but eventually it all sold out on the Rebecca Minkoff site. Was so thrilled to stumble across this one at Saks and told hubby he had to get me it for Christmas!

Last worn: marigold tee, New Balance sneakers. First time I've worn the necklace and skirt as they were recent purchases, and also first wear for the bag and kimono as they are Christmas presents.

Other ways to wearmarigold tee and printed jeans.

December Opshop Haul: What I Thrifted

What I wore:

lilac tee black distressed denim skirt, converse, white floral kimono, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag | awayfromblue

white floral print kimono with Rebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Jeanswest Polly printed kimono in white base ditsy floral (Christmas gift)
Necklace: terrazzo and wood rose gold bead necklace (Christmas gift)
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
SkirtNobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

This was a combination I knew I'd try when I saw this pretty kimono my mum bought me - the floral print with the lilac tee. Again I went with a black denim skirt, this distressed one I bought preloved a few months ago. It's not the first time I've worn the skirt and tee together, it's a nice combination! Last time I layered it up with a darker floral kimono as a topper. This outfit was a lot lighter. I went with white Converse to match the white kimono, and this terrazzo and wood necklace my sons picked up for me for Christmas.

Although the Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag doesn't match any of the colours in this outfit I think this Luna blue is a good neutral! And I love how organised this bag helps me feel with the different compartments. Also carried a big Woolies reusable tote bag to the library with all of our books to be returned in it, so our water bottles went in there. Spent a little bit of time at the bike track after the playground too, although we didn't stay long as the rain started to sprinkle.

Last worn: purple tee, distressed denim skirt, white Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag (above). First time I've worn the white floral kimono and beaded necklace as they are Christmas gifts.

Other ways to wearpurple tee and maxi skirt, distressed denim skirt and grey tee, white Converse and dress.

Perfect for pregnancypurple tee in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
A black denim skirt is a staple piece to have in your wardrobe - you can't beat a tee and denim! With the neutral black, any bright tee goes, and you can add more colour and print to your outfit with a floral kimono as I've done in these outfits.

Golden Tees, Denim, Kimonos and Louis Vuitton Bags: Weekday Wear Link Up

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! For today's Weekday Wear Link Up I'm sharing a couple more outfits from back in November. I'll share my Christmas outfits for next week's link up, I always take a little blog break over Christmas and rely on posts like this that I schedule in advance.

I love a good easy outfit formula, and these two outfits show a perfect one for summer. Denim, sneakers, a kimono, a golden yellow tee and some Louis Vuitton bags. Perfect for our humid Summers in Brisbane.

What I wore:

digital print kimono with golden yellow tee distressed denim skirt sneakers LV neverfull damier azur sea world gold coast day out outfit | awayfromblue

awayfromblue instagram | dolphon meet and greet patting at sea world gold coast AU

Jacket: thrifted digital print no label kimono
Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed summer mango
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur Neverfull

Why I wore it:

This was such a fun day! We spent the whole day at Sea World after staying overnight at the resort, and got to meet the dolphins in the morning before the park opened. We then spent the whole day jumping between all the rides, the kids had an amazing time!

I wanted to wear this mango coloured tee as I thought it was a good match for the orange in the print of the kimono, although not a perfect match. And shorts and tee and a kimono is the perfect theme park outfit. The Louis Vuitton Neverfull was good for carrying everything we needed too. Thankfully I wasn't wearing it when we went on a water ride in the afternoon and got completely soaked, a lot more than we usually do on that ride! My kimono was light enough to dry off quickly but my denim shorts not so much - we ended up changing back at the resort! It was a really good day though and the drenching helped us cool off as it was really warm.

Last worn: pixelated kimono, mango tee, beaded necklace, distressed denim shorts, New Balance sneakers, Louis Vuitton damier azur neverfull.

Other ways to wearpixelated kimono and purple tee, mango tee and culottes, distressed denim shorts and stripes, Louis Vuitton damier azur neverfull worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyLouis Vuitton damier azur neverfull at 38 weeks.

Skirt: JayJays distressed denim mini skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

This was not such an exciting day, although it's a very similar outfit formula with a golden tee, printed kimono and distressed denim. Wore my Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag as it was a rainy day and this is a good waterproof option!

I really like blue and yellow together so this mustard tee has been worn quite a lot with blue! I loved the tie dye kimono with it, and the blue Converse were another way to introduce more blue, along with the beaded necklace. Nice and colourful for a wet day with the school run, a couple errands, and multiple sports sessions for the kids.

Last worn: tie dye kimono, lozenge bead necklace, golden tee, distressed denim skirt, blue Converse, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to weartie dye kimono and green jeansgolden tee and black jeans, distressed denim skirt and green duster, blue Converse and shorts, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancyLouis Vuitton speedy bandouliere in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Tees and denim are a summer staple. Adding a printed kimono is an easy way to introduce more colour and print to your outfit. You can coordinate your tee with the colours in the print of the kimono like I have in the first outfit, or pick a more contrasting colour instead like I have in the second outfit.

Weekday Wear Linkup: Navy Printed Culotte Shorts Again With Colourful Tees

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm wearing my navy printed culotte shorts again! I have always been a shorts fan in summer but it's been nice to change it up a little from my usual go-to denim shorts. I have been feeling like I've been wearing these shorts a bit much but they are so cool and comfortable for hot summer days, definitely have been a favourite for this summer!

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag in fig with navy stripe culotte shorts | away from blue

awayfromtheblue Instagram monochrome tee and navy striped culotte outfit with pink jean mac bag

Earrings: Kmart silver leaf drop chandelier earrings
Necklace: Kmart silver long circle pendant necklace
Tee: Jeanswest Shelley garment dye tee in faded denim blue
Shorts: Jeanswest Valerie yarn dye stripe short in navy and white
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
BagRebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag in fig

Why I wore it:

Wore this for another visit to my parents, we headed over in the afternoon after a quiet morning at home. I wanted to wear some of the new pieces I got for Christmas - the earrings were a stocking gift from Santa, but the necklace, tee and shorts were gifts from my mum. I knew this tee would pair perfectly with the navy striped culottes when I unwrapped it, it's an awesome monochromatic combo!

With the matchy-matchy silver accessories and the monochromatic look with the blue Converse, navy shorts and blue tee, I felt this outfit needed a little something different so I added the pink Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC for a bit of contrast. I didn't have to carry much during the day either so this was the perfect size for just the essentials I needed!

Last worn: silver circle necklace, navy printed culottes, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC crossbody. First time I've worn the tee and earrings as they were Christmas gifts.

Other ways to wearnavy printed culottes and white tee, Converse and floral shorts, Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC crossbody and maxi dress

My latest unboxing video:

Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Shorts: Kmart culotte short in navy lemon print
Shoes:  New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

Again with a block colour tee and navy printed culottes, although this was a much more colourful outfit than the monochrome one above. Taking advantage of the school holidays I had a fun day out planned, letting my son pick what he wanted us to do for the day. We went on a bike ride in the morning, and then the beach afterwards. It was a really fun day.

This was definitely not the best bag choice for the beach though, an easily wipe-downable tote would have been better. I was a little worried about my new Christmas bag getting wet and sandy. I spent most of my time sitting on the sidelines watching though, aside from a little paddle now and then so the bag was salt water free thankfully.

I really liked how well all of the colours in this outfit worked together. The periwinkle blue of the Chloe Paraty bag is a nice compliment to the blue in the print of the navy culottes. Much like the pastel tee, it isn't an exact match with the colour in the print, but it's close enough that it looks so nice together.

Last worn: pastel yellow tee, gold and navy beaded necklace, floral print navy culottes, New Balance sneakers, Chloe Paraty bag.

Other ways to wearpastel yellow tee and olive jeans, floral print navy culottes and pink, New Balance sneakers and midi dress, Chloe Paraty bag at Christmas.

How You Can Wear It:

A pair of navy printed culottes are so versatile! You can go monochromatic by pairing it with other shades of blue, or picking some colours out of the print like I have in the second outfit if you want something a little brighter.

The Magnificent 8: Hello Yellow!

For something different, sharing a Wednesday post again. I am not yet returning to the 3 posts a week I did before Coronavirus hit, this is a special post as I've joined the Magnificent Eight! The theme today is "Hello Yellow", one I had a lot of fun with as I have quite a few yellow pieces in my wardrobe now!

So I'm sharing two outfits, one I wore on the weekend and the other during the week for the school run. Because even though it's a blog collaboration it wouldn't be my blog if I wasn't showing you what I actually wore, would it! Scroll down to see them and find out more about the Magnificent 8 ladies!

What I wore:

mustard cardigan, Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight | away from the blue

awayfromblue Instagram | hellow yellow mustard cardi mixed print tank black nobody denim skinny jeans navy micro bedford bag

Tank: thrifted Target mixed print colourful printed tank
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

I had this cardigan in mind for the Hello Yellow theme and was wondering what top to wear with it, as it was so warm I decided on a tank. This tank was also thrifted, just like the cardi, and the yellow in the mixed print works so well with the mustard cardigan! It was an extremely warm day so a scarf wasn't needed, I even rolled up the sleeves of my cardigan for a bit!

Kept the rest of my outfit neutral with the Converse and my black Nobody Denim skinny jeans, and the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag

Simple but colourful for a warm winter day in the playground. Even though we hadn't had any COVID cases in our state for 8 days at the time I was still a little unsure about taking the kids to a playground for the first time since Iso! I seemed to be the only one worried, the playground was so busy! The kids had a blast playing there even though they had to wait their turn a few times. We used to visit playgrounds regularly before everything happened, so it was nice to get back to it, and easier on my injured knee than the exploring around local trails and empty parks that we have been doing instead the past few months.

What I wore:

Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

This outfit was pulled together from other outfits I've worn before! It's not the first time I've worn the scarf and cardigan together, and I really liked this yellow tee last time I wore it with olive green jeans so I wanted to try it with these green jeans as well. I added the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag as it matches so nicely with the navy scarf and cardigan, and again was a nice neutral with the bright top and jeans.

Was a quiet day - doing the school run and taking the little one out to hunt for more books at the opshops. With it being No Buy July I wasn't going to browse for clothes but thought we could go have a look for some books. The kids always like picking up a book or two whenever we stop at an opshop. And with getting back into reading over Iso after my neighbour started up a virtual book club, I wanted to have a browse of the books for myself as well! Was a fun way to spend a small part of the morning after school drop off.

How You Can Wear It:

Yellow is such a cheerful colour to wear - and it pairs well with other brights too! Try it with green, blue, navy, or keep it simple and stick with neutral black skinny jeans.

Green and Yellow Worn Two Ways: Jeans and Tee | Weekday Wear Link Up

Jeans and and a tee again! It was my home isolation outfit of choice back when I wanted to get out of pyjamas or loungewear, but also didn't want to put in too much effort if I wasn't going anywhere.

This time I round I paired my yellow tees with green jeans and some cardigans, as the autumn weather had truly arrived in Brisbane and the extra layer was needed. Now it's properly winter and a few more layers are required.

What I wore:

pastel yellow tee with olive skinny jeans and grey cardigan autumn work from home style | away from blue

awayfromtheblue Instagram| grey cardigan with pastel yellow tee and olive skinny jeans
Jacket: Paper Scissors grey wrap cardigan
Necklace: Colette tortoise shell acrylic disc tassel necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Jeans: Jeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas

Why I wore it:

It's not the first time I've worn this yellow tee with olive - it looked nice with my olive shorts so I knew I'd wear it with these olive jeans in the cooler weather. I really liked the combination, i think the muted shades work so well together. I added a necklace for a little bit of extra interest to my outfit and I think with the long necklace and long grey cardigan the tee looked better untucked - it's a bit oversized so I usually tuck it in, but I liked the longer lines of this outfit.

The grey cardigan wasn't quite as cosy as my daggy old bathrobe I usually wear around the house, but it was a more formal choice for a couple of zoom sessions I had on that day!

Last worn: yellow tee, tortoiseshell necklace, grey cardigan, olive skinny jeans, Havaianas.

Other ways to wearyellow tee and red maxi skirt, grey cardigan and maxi skirt, olive skinny jeans for a long haul flight.

How I Clean My Bags:

Necklace: thrifted cream and navy statement flat bead necklace
Tee: Big W mustard v-neck tee
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

This was a much bolder outfit with the mustard tee and the green skinny jeans. Again, this isn't a new colour combination for me, I love wearing my little mustard Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag with these green jeans, but it was the first time I'd worn this mustard tee and jeans together. As it was such a cold morning and I had to pop out to the post office, I added another colour to my outfit with this cosy navy cardigan.

Again, I've worn this navy cardigan with the green jeans before, but I really liked the way the trio of colours worked together in this outfit. Especially with the matching navy necklace! The Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag was a nice neutral with all of the colours in my outfit, and it was still packed and ready to go after my last trip out the house a few days before.

Last worn: navy waterfall cardigan, mustard tee, statement necklacegreen skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Yellow Tees Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A yellow tee is a fun colour to have in your wardrobe! Yellow is a bright pop with a neutral pair of blue jeans but it works well with other colours like green and navy too.
