30 Ways to Wear: Navy Waterfall Cardigan From Jeanswest

Not surprised I've hit over 30 wears with this navy waterfall cardigan over this winter - it's a staple in my winter outfits and the neutral colour goes with everything! It's good timing with spring here in Brisbane to share 30 wears I've won this knit.

30 Ways To Wear: Navy Waterfall Cardigan

30 ways to wear Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in navy night sky marle outfit ideas awayfromblue

This navy cardigan goes with everything! I bought this to try and add more knits to my winter wardrobe, and the neutral block navy colour ensures I can wear it with any of my outfits, as I've shared below with just some of the ways I've worn it. It's the perfect piece for not looking too casual or underdressed with the gentle waterfall shape, and works well belted or worn loose. Something I'm glad I picked up on sale 4 years ago! It's just the right thickness for cool winter and spring days in Brisbane.

Cost Per Wear

I purchased this cardigan back in May 2018 for $41.99, using a gift card. So it didn't cost me anything  as it was a gift card purchase, but it works out to $1.31 a wear of gift card money for the 32 times I've worn it. Pretty good for something that is still going to be a staple in my wardrobe for the years to come! When I bought it I was excited I could use the buttons to turn the cardigan into a wrap top, but I've only worn it that way once so far, so I really need to try change it up when I'm wearing it and take advantage of the button up feature!

Below are 30 of my favourite outfits with this cardigan, to give you some ideas and inspiration for how you can wear a similar piece in your wardrobe.

Waterfall Cardigan and Dresses Outfits

This long waterfall cardigan is the perfect layer over a dress! I really like it worn belted over a dress for the office, but it looks nice just worn loose and draping down too.

Navy Cardigan With Green

4 green and navy outfit ideas with jeans and waterfall cardigans | awayfromblue

Green and blue is a combination I've really warmed to in recent years - and as you can see from the brighter jeans, olive jeans and even the green printed scarf, a navy cardigan like this is so good against shades of green.

Waterfall Cardigan and Pencil Skirt Office Outfit

navy waterfall cardigan and pencil skirt outfits for office | awayfromblue

Another staple office outfit in the cooler weather is throwing this navy cardigan on over a pencil skirt outfit. It's great for the cooler morning and afternoon office commutes, and stylish enough that it doesn't look out of place in my business casual office.

Navy Cardigan Worn With Red

three red and blue outfit ideas with navy waterfall cardigan | awayfromblue

Red and blue is a colour combination I really like to wear! As with the green outfits above, I find any shade of red works well with this navy cardigan. Red or burgundy jeans, even a red poppy print scarf, really pop with the navy knit.

Waterfall Cardigan With Shorts

3 ways to wear shorts with navy waterfall cardigan | awayfromtheblue

There are some spring and autumn days where it's just not warm enough for bare arms and bare legs - so a cardigan over a shorts and tee outfit is a good option. It also packs up easily into your bag if the day warms up later too and you need to remove a layer.

Navy Cardigan Worn With Purple

4 purple and blue outfit ideas with navy knit waterfall cardigan | awayfromtheblue

I really like deep purple shades with this navy cardigan - like the purple jeans and the purple scarf. Even that little plum bag. The magenta bags look great with it too, but I think navy and purple look really good together so wanted to call that out in these sets of outfits.

Waterfall Cardigan Worn With Printed Pieces In An Outfit

4 ways to wear printed pieces with navy waterfall cardigan | awayfromblue

The reason I added this to my wardrobe was that I wanted a nice block colour cardigan I could easily wear with printed pieces - stripes, skulls, leopard print, any print works when you have a plain block colour cardigan on top. Especially if it's a neutral navy like this.

Pink and Navy Outfit Ideas With Waterfall Cardigan

5 different outfit ideas with pink and navy waterfall cardigan | awayfromtheblue

Yet another go-to colour combination for me is pink and purple. Magenta jeans, as I called out above, magenta looks great with this navy! Or lighter pink tees or printed jeans, all shades of pink are nice against this dark blue knit.

Waterfall Cardigans, Tanks and Dark Jeans With Chloe Bags | Weekday Wear Link Up

Spring officially arrived on the 1st September in Brisbane, but we still had a couple of cooler days at the start of September which gave me another chance to wear these cosy waterfall cardigans again, with some darker denim jeans and Chloe bags.

What I wore:

navy waterfall cardigan grey jeans sneakers paraty bag and pink satin tank | awayfromblue

Chloe periwinkle small Paraty with navy cardigan and jeans | awayfromtheblue

JacketJeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in navy night sky marle
Necklace: Kmart blue multi-colour beaded necklace
TankAsos satin singlet in pink
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a very relaxed day! It was a pupil free day, so a morning free from the school run! I planned to work from home and take the kids to the library afterwards - this jeans and tank outfit was perfect, the cosy navy waterfall cardigan is so comfortable and kept me warm. My mum and sister looked after the kids when I worked and treated us to lunch which was nice, as well as taking the boys out for a few adventures.

I felt this satin pink tank was overdue another wear and I really do like it with navy! Added even more blue with the wooden bead necklace and periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag.

These charcoal Nobody Denim jeans go with everything of course, and I picked the New Balance sneakers for their support while driving around.

Last worn: navy waterfall cardigan, blue tri colour wooden necklace, pink satin tank, Nobody Denim jeans, New Balance sneakers, Chloe periwinkle small Paraty.

Other ways to wearnavy waterfall cardigan and shorts, pink satin tank and pencil skirt, Nobody Denim jeans and blazer, Chloe periwinkle small Paraty and maxi dress.

Perfect for pregnancypink satin tank and hidden baby bump.

Chloe Handbag Collection: Past and Present

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in scarlett marle
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Top: Sass and Bide "For Easy Reference" tank
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

This is exactly the same cardigan as the one above, just in red, because I couldn't decide between the two colours when I bought them a few years back. I am glad I have both in my wardrobe, even though this red one hasn't been worn as much as the navy one above, that I've hit 30 wears with. I do love wearing this red cardigan with neutrals though to let it really shine! The brown printed tank was a great pairing with it, and the faded black jeans, a $1 opshop find, go with everything.

Again I went with sneakers, my comfortable Adidas Superstar ones, for the school run, helping in my son's classroom and a few errands after school. We had to go buy a few little special snacks for the upcoming playdate we had on the weekend.

Although the rose gold necklace is a different tone from the gold hardware on the Chloe Marcie bag, I thought the two accessories worked well together, and I really liked the filigree heart with the brown print on the tank.

How You Can Wear It:

A cosy block colour cardigan is the perfect layer for those in-between seasons. A neutral like navy lets you pair it with brighter outfits, or you can go bolder with a red knit and stick to neutral shades with the rest of your outfit like I have in these two outfits.

Colourful Jeans and Cardigans With Printed Tanks

While I wore these outfits just at the end of August, I was enjoying the warmer spring-like temps that were arriving just before the official start of spring. Celebrated this warmer weather with some bright colourful jeans outfits, and two cute printed tanks.

What I wore:

mustard yellow cardigan with green jeans brown printed tank and chloe ethel bag spring wfh style | awayfromblue

Jacket: thrifted SES Fashions mustard yellow cardigan
NecklaceRoie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tassel
Tank: Sass and Bide "For Easy Reference" tank
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagChloe small Ethel bag in light khaki

Why I wore it:

I really liked this green and mustard combination! I've worn this yellow cardigan with olive a few times in the past, but this is only the second time I've tired it with the bright green jeans. It felt very colourful, I was glad I'd picked out this neutral grey printed Sass and Bide tank to sit in between the colours. Tried to keep it natural with the accessories too, with the white Converse and the small Chloe Ethel bag.

The Chloe Ethel bag usually looks really caramel toned in photos, but paired with these green jeans you can see the light khaki tint to it. Perfect accessory for this outfit - and this bag fits so much more than it looks like it would. Was perfect for the school run, and after working from home and school pick up, it fitted some snacks inside for entertaining the kids before an appointment in the evening.

Last worn: mustard cardigan, pearl coin necklace, brown printed tank, green skinny jeans, white Converse, Chloe small Ethel bag.

Other ways to wearmustard cardigan and shorts, brown printed tank and maxi skirt, green skinny jeans worn 30 ways, white Converse and chambray dress, Chloe small Ethel bag and shorts.

Chloe Small Ethel: Review and Contents

ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual plus black and gold beaded bracelet stack
BagChloe small Ethel bag in light khaki

Why I wore it:

I had the school run, and working from home with an on-camera meeting, so I debated adding statement earrings to accessorise with. I'd recently got some new hardware from my company for working from home with though, and one of those pieces was a new headset with over the ear headphones which ruled out pretty earrings, it wouldn't have been comfortable.

I can't believe I haven't worn this neon printed tank with the magenta jeans before! They are both from Sass and Bide and both the perfect matching shade of magenta. I really need to wear them together more often. It was a really cold day, and I regretted the choice of cardigan in the morning and wished I'd picked a warmer one, but I did like the grey with the magenta pink and the soft neutrals on the tank.

I got a call near the middle of the day that my son had been injured at school and I had to go pick him up. He's all recovered now thankfully! By that point in the day it was much warmer and this cardigan was the perfect layer. I did feel the cold a little later in the afternoon though when we went back to school to pick up my other son at the end of the day. Maybe a full length sleeve would have been a better choice.

How You Can Wear It:

Colourful jeans are an easy way to switch things up a little bit with your outfits. They can be really versatile and it's nice to have something a little different from the usual classic blue denim.

Printed tops, Cardigans and Grey Jeans With Chloe Marcie Bag | Weekday Wear Link Up

Sticking with a classic outfit formula and keeping the accessories the same, with my Chloe Marcie bag and Adidas Superstar sneakers, but these two outfits look a little different! Different printed tops and colours make these outfits feel unique when I just lazily copied the same outfit formula each day.

What I wore:

fern print tank with grey jeans and cardigan chloe marcie bag and adidas superstar sneakers | awayfromblue

Chloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut worn with grey cardigan over the shoulder | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Paper Scissors grey wrap cardigan
Necklace: thrifted gold large double circle necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Elissa leaf print tank
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus black and gold beaded bracelet stack
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

This was actually a colder morning than I expected and I wished I'd picked a thicker cardigan with full length sleeves to wear. Thankfully it warmed up so much during the day though, in the afternoon I was even pushing the sleeves of the cardigan further up and considering taking it off. We had to get to school extra early in the morning, then I helped out in my son's class before working from home and doing the school pickup in the afternoon with a quick stop at the library on the way home.

I really like this fern print tank. The colours are so pretty together, and I felt it was overdue a wear! With the grey cardigan and charcoal grey skinny jeans I thought this tank would stand out a bit more, but I still really liked this outfit. The gold circle necklace and gold and black beaded bracelets were a bit of matchy-matchy with the gold hardware on the Chloe Marcie shoulder bag.

Last worn: grey cardigan, gold circle necklace, leaf print tank, grey skinny jeans, Adidas Superstar sneakers, Chloe Marcie bag.

Other ways to weargrey cardigan and printed jeans, leaf print tank and pencil skirt, grey skinny jeans and blazer, Adidas Superstar sneakers and dress, Chloe Marcie bag and florals.

TeeAtmos&Here navy stripe v-neck tee
Jeans: Jeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans

Why I wore it:

This was another cold morning, but I definitely didn't need all these layers in the afternoon! The scarf came off pretty quickly. Had my usual jeans and tee outfit for working from home - so comfortable for winter! But added a little more colour with the diamond print scarf and the mustard yellow cardigan.

I picked this mustard cardigan to wear not just because I love how it looks with the grey jeans, but also because it stands out, and I took a late lunch to surprise my son as he got an award at school. We are all so proud of him, he actually won two awards - one he was expecting and another one that was a surprise to him but we had known about for a while, so hubby and my mum came along too to share his excitement. So proud of him!

Last worn: mustard yellow cardigan, navy stripe tee, diamond print scarf, grey skinny jeans, Adidas Superstar sneakers (above), Chloe Marcie bag (above).

Other ways to wearmustard yellow cardigan and shorts, navy stripe tee and skirt, diamond print scarf and dress, grey skinny jeans worn 30 ways, Adidas Superstar sneakers and maxi skirt, Chloe Marcie bag and floral dress.

How You Can Wear It:

Cosy cardigans are nice layers with jeans in winter. If you go for a plain, block colour one like these grey and yellow ones, you can easily wear them with other prints without worrying about anything clashing.

Blue Tees, Pink Jeans, Grey Cardigans and Luna Blue Edie Bag

Another fun set of colourful and comfortable jeans and tee outfits. Both following the simple outfit formula of blue tee, pink jeans, converse and a grey cardigan with my Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag.

What I wore:

blue tee and pink leopard print jeans, converse, grey cardigan, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag | awayfromblue

pink jeans, grey cardigan and Rebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Paper Scissors grey wrap cardigan

Tee: Jeanswest Shelley garment dye tee in faded denim blue
Jeans: Portmans pink leopard print skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

These pink leopard print jeans were definitely overdue another wear! I really like wearing them with blue, so it was an easy choice to wear the blue Converse Chucks and blue tee with them. While it was a warmer winter day and a scarf wasn't needed, I did add this grey cardi.

Although the pink and rose gold necklace isn't an exact match to the pink of the leopard print, I thought that was a nice combination. My Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag is a great blue that goes with everything, so again while it didn't match I liked it in this outfit. It fit a library book inside my bag too as we took advantage of the public holiday and took the kids to an indoor play place. It was a beautiful day and all the other businesses in the area were shut for the holiday, so I was happy this place was open as it meant it was a little quieter than it usually is on a weekend. Perfect time to take the kids, they had a blast, and I got some reading time in as they jumped around on the play equipment!

What I wore:

kisschasy band tee, magenta jeans, converse, rebecca minkoff edie bag and grey maxi cardigan | awayfromblue

Jacket
Jeanswest Alice longline Australian wool cardigan
Dress: Kisschasy blue tape band tee
JeansSass & Bide The Winning Day Lovestate jeans in magenta
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

A very different shade of pink here, but again following the same formula as the outfit above. Pink jeans, blue tee and grey cardigan! I went with the magenta Sass and Bide jeans and the blue graphic print tee instead, to switch it up a little. No necklace this time as the design on the tee felt like enough interest for my outfit. The grey wool cardigan is a super cosy one, I needed it as it was a really cold August winter day, and I wanted the extra warmth! Did regret my choice a little though. We were heading out for a bit of shopping and to grab lunch with my mum - the shopping centre had the heaters on blast for the cold day and I was definitely sweating in this, much too warm! Needed it when we stepped back outside though.

As with the first outfit, again the Luna blue of the Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag didn't match any of the shades in the outfit, but I thought it went nicely with the blue and grey still. Nice and comfortable for a quiet weekend day, just a little too warm in the shops.

Just realised when writing up this post that this is the first time I've worn this cardigan since I rescued it from my desk when I went back into the office in 2021, it had been locked away in a closed down office since 2020. 😂

Last worn: grey maxi cardigan, heart studs, Kisschasy band tee, magenta jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag (above).

Other ways to weargrey maxi cardigan worn 30 ways, Kisschasy band tee and maxi skirt, magenta jeans and floral kimono, black Converse and dress, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag and culottes.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Blue and pink are a winning combination, and a statement pair of pink jeans can really brighten up a jeans and tee outfit.

Black, Burgundy and Grey Jeans Outfits With Turquoise Bag

Two burgundy, black and grey jeans and tee outfits, accessorised with my little turquoise Balenciaga First bag. Both outfits have similar colour schemes and follow the same basic formula, but I didn't love them both equally!

BagBalenciaga First bag in 2006 Blue India

Why I wore it:

I really liked this outfit! Taking full advantage of this cosy knitted poncho, I didn't need to wear a scarf in that winter morning, so I chose this little turquoise and gold beaded necklace. While it's lighter than the almost teal turquoise of the Balenciaga First bag, I really liked the two together, and loved the colour they added to the deep burgundy (almost purple) tee. The grey Nobody Denim jeans were a sale find last year and they really should be worn more, such a nice wash that goes with everything!

Comfy sneakers for a quiet day with working from home and the school run. I thought that these white Stan Smiths went nicely with the white pattern on the knit. Such a comfortable outfit, I really liked this.

Last worn: knitted kimono, burgundy tee, turquoise beaded necklace, grey Nobody Denim jeans, Stan Smith sneakers, Balenciaga turquoise first bag.

Other ways to wearknitted kimono and print mixing, burgundy tee and orange skirt, grey Nobody Denim jeans and blazer, Stan Smith sneakers and black jeans, Balenciaga turquoise first bag and denim dress.

Jeans: Jeanswest Harper skinny pant in Russet
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagBalenciaga First bag in 2006 Blue India

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the outfit above so much, I planned to wear an outfit with a similar formula a few days later. With burgundy jeans this time, a black tee, and a grey cardigan. Again I went with the little Balenciaga bag which I think goes so well with this outfit.

The day was a lot colder than I expected though, and so I ended up changing the black scoop neck tee that I'd planned to wear out with this crew neck peplum tee, and added a scarf. As these were last minute changes before rushing out the door to get the kids to school I'm really not sure all the pieces worked as well together as the pieces in the outfit above did. I felt maybe a plain black tee like I'd planned would have been better with the skull print scarf. Although I liked the colours in this outfit, definitely felt more comfortable in the first one. Luckily it was another similar day, with the school run, working from home and then a little errand in the afternoon, so it was quite quiet.

Last worn: grey cardigan, peplum tee, red skull scarf, burgundy jeans, Converse, Balenciaga first bag (above).

Other ways to weargrey cardigan and green jeans, peplum tee and shorts, red skull scarf and red knit, burgundy jeans and floral kimono, Converse and dressBalenciaga first bag and pink dress.

Perfect for pregnancyred skull scarf in third trimester, Converse in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Jeans and a tee is always a staple, and adding a little burgundy with the grey and black neutrals is a nice way to add some more colour to your outfit. A little colourful bag is an extra pop too!

Striped Tees, Colourful Cardigans and Rebecca Minkoff Edie Bag | Weekday Wear Link Up

Showing once again that this Luna blue Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag goes with everything for today's Weekday Wear Link Up. Sharing some striped tee and skinny jeans outfits I wore recently with black Converse and colourful cardigans.

What I wore:

BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

Sneaking another weekend outfit into the Weekday Wear Link Up! Wore this for a very relaxed weekend - a trip to the library with the kids in the morning, and then a BBQ at our friend's house in the afternoon to check out their renovations. It was such a nice day for it, this light cardigan was all I needed. I didn't want to overdress for a backyard BBQ but thought the bright purple cardigan and the silver foil stripes elevated this jeans and tee outfit just enough to look a little more special for the occasion.

One of our friends brought their dogs too so with us having Cooper along also there were dogs and kids everywhere - everyone had a great time, even if we had to leave a little early to get the kids home.

What I wore:

TeeAtmos&Here oversized stripe tee
Jeans: Jeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

It's not the first time I've worn this mustard cardigan with the olive jeans, I really like the combination so it's on frequent repeat in the colder weather. Initially I was just going to have this outfit without a scarf, like the one above, but it was a super cold morning so I was hunting around at the last minute for a scarf to wear. This infinity scarf was perfect! The shades of green were a little coordinated with the olive jeans, and I love print mixing with florals and stripes.

Again I wore the Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag, roomy enough for all my essentials with and a lot more, and it worked well as my son had a few things for me to take home after my session helping out in his classroom. It was a special celebration day for the class so they didn't do any of the usual work I help them out with, which was a nice change for us parent volunteers, and the kids! After that it was just working from home until it was time for school pick up again in the afternoon, when thankfully it was a bit warmer!

Last worn: mustard cardigan, printed snood, grey striped tee, olive skinny jeans, Converse (above), Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag (above).

Other ways to wearmustard cardigan and printed jeans, printed snood and dress, grey striped tee and red jeans, olive skinny jeans worn 30 ways, Converse and maxi skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag and midi dress.

Perfect for pregnancymustard cardigan and shift dress, grey striped tee at 40 weeksConverse in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Striped tees are a classic wardrobe staple, and are often worn with jeans. To try make your outfit stand out a little more, you could add a bright and colourful cardigan. perfect for colder winter days.
