Floral Dusters With Jeans and Tee and Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag

After an unseasonably cold start to winter things warmed up a little more in mid-June here in Brisbane to get back to our usual average temperatures so I could get away with wearing kimonos and jeans. The perfect light layer to dress up a jeans and tee outfit a little more for a few errands.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Delilah long line kimono in green floral
Necklace: Happiness Boutique turquoise and coral pendant necklace (c/o)
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed red clay
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond

Why I wore it:

I wanted to try something different with this green floral duster and thought about this clay tee. I worried with it being a bit too red that it would look Christmas-y against the emerald green of the duster, but I ended up really loving this outfit! I think the almond Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag helped bring out more of the brown in the tee.

As you can see from the Insta pic we went out that weekend for a walk along a local trail - in a search for more branches and twigs to change up the enclosures we have for all of the insects my son has accumulated! The praying mantis egg pouch has not yet hatched, but he's got 2 other kinds of mantises to look after as well now. Despite the breeze it was a warm and sunny day so this light duster was all I needed to layer up for our walk.

Luckily we have no shortage of bushland around the neighbourhood. We have to try go out bush a little to stay away from accidentally picking up twigs or leaves that might have been in someone's garden and treated with chemicals that could harm or upset the insects!

Last worn: green floral duster, clay v-neck tee, stone pendant necklace, Nobody Denim jeans, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag.

Other ways to weargreen floral duster and Bermuda shorts, clay v-neck tee and maxi skirt, Nobody Denim jeans worn two ways, Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag and maxi skirt.

Why I wore it:

Another weekend outfit! This was a slightly busier Saturday with a lot more running and driving around to do - including of course our weekly stop at the library. This deep purple tee is one that I've had in my wardrobe a few years but I've started wearing on frequent repeat more often lately. The dark colour is perfect for autumn, and while none of the colours in the floral print match it, I think that the dark colours lets all the bright print really shine and stand out, especially when paired with black jeans.

Decided to try be a little matchy-matchy of course with my accessories and the wooden beaded bracelets that have a similar tone to the almond Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag.

Last worn: tropical floral print duster, wine tee, beaded necklace, faded black jeans, New Balance sneakers (above), Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag (above).

Other ways to weartropical floral print duster and chambray dress, wine tee over a dress, faded black jeans and blazer, Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag and printed shorts.

Perfect for pregnancywine tee in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

A kimono over a tee and denim outfit will always be a staple for me! for colourful printed dusters like this, plain block colour tees are the best outfit base to start with, along with neutral coloured black or grey jeans.

    1. Yes I'm glad I can still wear these kimonos on the warmer winter days, before I have to pack them away when it gets too cold!

  2. These kimonos really elevate your outfits - I had to stop reading and go dig in my collection, you were so inspiring (must wear my kimonos/dusters soon!)! I really love the brown tones mixed with the green duster, and you're right, that sweet bag is so nice with the colour of the top. The second outfit is cute - the purple top does bring out the darker reds in the kimono's pattern.

I love hearing about your insect adventures! Future entomologist alert!

    1. I'm so glad I could inspire you Sheila! You always inspire me! And yes, we had a chat to a lovely entomologist the other week who was telling my son when she younger she decided to become an entomologist - should have seen his face when he said that's the age he was now! Whole new world for him, he's loving learning about insects!

  10. That green + rusty red combo looks terrific - a nice way to pair the colors without the Christmas associations coming up. I always chuckle when reading about your son's love of insects since I'm a bit phobic about most insects myself, haha!

  12. I have been wearing my longer kimonos a lot more than my 2 shorter ones. I will be deciding after fall if I will donate them. I really like the 2nd outfit and how the necklaces pops against the tee.

  15. I love your clay tee and think it looks great! Clay and mauve have been among my favorite colors for the past few years. I don’t know why the phrase “that could harm or upset the insects” cracked me up. Well, no, it’s actually a very sweet sentiment—but then I had an image of the insects having a tantrum and throwing the sticks out of their enclosure, ha!

    1. That's actually not too far off how they react apparently, haha! When we adopted our latest insect the lady telling us how to care for them advised that she'd once found a branch by the side of the road but when she put it in the enclosure all the bugs jumped up and ran away from it, because of the pollution she figured!

  18. What lovely outfits! I can't believe you can wear these in "winter!"... I'd be luck to be able to wear something like this in spring. LOL. My favorite is the second one only because I tend to wear more dark and regal tones myself.
