Maxi Skirts In Winter With Striped Tees, Scarves, Boots and Denim Jackets

Layering up my maxi skirts to ger some wear from them in winter, with striped tees, cosy scarves, denim jackets and boots. Despite the different colours in both of these outfits, the neutral small Chloe Ethel bag was a great accessory with both.

What I wore:

Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs bright blue stole
TeeAtmos&Here navy stripe v-neck tee
Skirtthrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
ShoesAsos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bracelets: the usual plus pearl and rose gold bracelet stack
BagChloe small Ethel bag in light khaki

Why I wore it:

I really like blue and orange together, and I love this ochre maxi skirt with stripes. It's not the first time I've worn this navy stripe tee with the orange skirt, but it is a bit more layered up this time than last time! It was a chilly morning for the school run. Although this cobalt scarf covers up most of the striped tee I really liked the different shades of blue together, especially with the dark denim jacket on top.

Because this maxi skirt has side splits and I didn't want my legs to freeze I wore my leather knee high boots under this to keep cosy! It worked well.

I worked from home while the kids were in school and we stopped off at the park in the afternoon to grab a few more branches for our stick insect to eat. Ended up running into friends and the boys saw a few classmates there too, so we stayed for quite a while and I did wish I'd added leggings under the skirt when it started to get cooler in the afternoon. Luckily we weren't out for too long as we had to get back home to get ready for sports in the evening.

Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
ScarfAlexander McQueen pink pashmina in skull and floral print
TeeAtmos&Here oversized stripe tee
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagChloe small Ethel bag in light khaki

Why I wore it:

Unlike the outfit above, with the black maxi skirt, pale denim jacket and grey striped tee this outfit was looking a bit bland. The pink and yellow Alexander McQueen skull scarf was the perfect pop of colour to brighten it up a bit! And I like how this reminds me of Sheila and her pink and yellow skull scarf, although hers is a different print she got lucky and found it second hand, I picked this up on sale.

Again I went with boots, just ankle boots this time as the long ruffle hem on this skirt doesn't have any side splits. Was a nice comfortable outfit for a busy day with an appointment, a couple of errands, and a stop at the library for the kids and I to stock up on more books for the weekend.

Last worn: moto denim jacket, pink skull scarf, grey stripe tee, black maxi skirt, black ankle boots, Chloe Ethel (above).

Other ways to wearmoto denim jacket in double denim outfit, pink skull scarf and pencil skirt, grey stripe tee and double denim, black maxi skirt worn 2 ways, black ankle boots worn 30 ways, Chloe Ethel and shorts.

How You Can Wear It:

Maxi skirts can work on dry winter days with a few more layers! Try jackets, scarves and of course boots. For super cold winter days, you can add leggings underneath too!

  3. I LOVE the Chloe bag with the first outfit - it goes SO well with the ochre skirt! Your layering is excellent - I've had that legging need too, in cold weather!

I had to peer closely at my screen, as I thought for a second that was the same McQueen scarf as mine! I love that we are now "scarf sisters"!

PS - I have started drawing roses on your bag!! It is looking cool! :)

  4. Maxi skirts are the perfect all-seasons garments, in my opinion.
I often wear mine with denim jackets ... in Summer :-)
As I too love blue and orange together, the first outfit is my favourite by far, but I appreciate the pop of pink from the Alexander McQueen scarf in the second outfit as well! xxx

    1. I can't imagine denim jackets in the heat of summer here, haha! Maybe a colder summer day, but not normal temps!

    1. It's nice to try wear them year-round here, even if they need a few more layers in winter!

  11. very nice outfit, I adore the skirt color. You make me miss my ethel bag with this outfit, I left it behind during the relocation and it's now a part of my close friend's closet. I do think now that it might be a shame as I didn't fully used its potential.

  19. Ooh, that orange skirt is beautiful! My alma mater's colors were orange and blue, and I could never get away with pairing them in my old home town without feeling like I was cheering on the home team. Here, though, no one would bat an eye. I think it might be time to revisit the combo!
