What I wore:
Dress: Kmart teal tropical notch neck floral maxi dress
Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Disney Couture Winnie the Pooh bangle
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty
Why I wore it:
Wore this for my son's first school birthday party! We'd invited the whole class so we could get to know everyone outside of school pick up times, and as they'd started school in February, my son was still learning the names of everyone in his class. We had it at our local park and I got an entertainer from Fly By Fun to keep the kids amused with party games and magic tricks. He was awesome and all the kids loved having a ninja at the party, especially my son!It was a funny day where it was supposed to rain (and had stormed a lot the evening before) so it was touch and go if the park venue was going to go ahead. Luckily there was not a drop of rain all day, although it ended up being very hot and humid. This teal maxi dress was a nice light option for such a hot day, and since it doesn't have pockets I picked my Chloe Paraty bag to wear as it fits all the essentials and my camera as well. Had to have my phone nearby in case people had trouble finding our party. We had it at a bigger local park that wasn't damaged by the floods like the smaller venue we picked and had on the invites, but it meant there were a lot of parties going on in different areas! We put our bubble machine on to help people find us that worked well too.
It was such a fun day - my son loved having all his friends there and it was nice to meet some of the parents of children my son plays with at school that I'd never met before! I'd been a little worried people wouldn't be able to find us, or we would be rained out, or I wouldn't have enough food or party bags, but it all went perfectly on the day.
Last worn: teal floral maxi dress, gold charm necklace, gold bracelet, studded sandals, Chloe Paraty bag.
Other ways to wear: teal floral maxi dress on Christmas day, studded sandals and little black dress, Chloe Paraty bag and denim skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: studded sandals in second trimester.
What's In My Bag: Chloe Small Paraty
What I wore:
Necklace: Ruby Olive Art series long striped pod necklace
Dress: Shein navy flower print flowy dress (c/o)
Shoes: Novo Tawny rose gold sandals
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty
Why I wore it:
Wore this for another kid's birthday party! We had a busy morning with books due back at the library too, and since it was such a hot day and a backyard party I wanted a nice dress that would cover my shoulders in the sun. While it's long sleeved this viscose dress swing dress is nice and light so it was good in the heat. I wasn't sure if this beaded necklace would be too much with the dress but I think it worked well with the colours, and it worked as a conversation starter at the party as I hoped it would! The party was really well organised and my son had a great time playing with his friends from school.I picked my Chloe Paraty bag to wear again as it fits all my essentials and my son's water bottle. Although the rose gold sandals are a different gold tone I liked that they were a metallic like the hardware on the bag too, for a little bit of almost matchy-matchy.
Last worn: navy floral swing dress, blue earrings, statement beaded necklace, rose gold sandals, Chloe periwinkle Paraty bag (above).
Other ways to wear: navy floral swing dress and blazer, rose gold sandals and orange dress, Chloe periwinkle Paraty bag and printed shorts.
How You Can Wear It:
Floral dresses are an easy one-and-done outfit for a birthday party. Maxi dresses and swing dresses in lighter fabrics are lose and comfortable enough for hot autumn days that really feel more like summer!
Hope you have a wonderful Easter if you celebrate!
I am so glad the rain held off for your sons birthday party, it sounds like you had a lovely day. It's nice that you invited everybody from his year group. I am loving both of these outfits, they're both so cute xx

I am so happy your son enjoyed his birthday party with school friends, it's a great way to get to know classmates. Thank goodness the rain held off! Both of these dresses are so colorful and pretty - so stylish!

Yes I was so worried about the weather, it was good it held off!
DeleteOh, I am so glad that the weather held out and it didn't rain at the birthday party! It sounds like it was a really fun time for everyone. I love what you wore as well. That dress is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
I really need to wear this dress more often, it is so pretty!
DeleteI love both of these dresses: so different than each other but oh so pretty!

It is a very cute print! I'm trying to wear it a lot to offset the environmental impact created by the company. I'd love to reach 30 wears with it to challenge the disposable fashion ethos of the brand.
DeleteNinjas AND a bubble machine?? I want to be at that party! It sounds like a blast. Love your pretty dress (great colour on you) and that bag is a lovely complement to it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the dress in your second outfit, Mica - it is so lovely on you. That navy blue is a great colour, and the embroidery is a great detail. The necklace goes really well (it's not too much) - I bet you were a conversation starter (you were probably better dressed than everyone there!).
Kid's birthdays are not my thing but it sounds like you had a wonderful time at both parties. I'm glad your boys are getting back to more normal too!
Have a fabulous weekend! So excited about your bag!!
It was such a good party, it all came together so well which was a relief!
DeleteI really like that second dress too but it's actually a print, not embroidery :) It's just a cheap fast fashion brand.
It sounds like your son's birthday party was a great time! I love the idea of a bubble machine. Both of my daughters have fall/winter bdays and we can't have anything outside which is too bad. Love the gorgeous dress you chose to wear for the occasion. It's so fun to see your kids interact with their friends!
ReplyDeleteYes we are currently trying to think of what to do for my son's birthday in winter, not sure if we could stretch our luck twice to have good weather for a park party, haha!
DeleteI love both of these dresses on you Mica. The necklace and the sandals work so well with the second one.
ReplyDeleteTwo fantastic dresses, Mica, and I'm glad the rain held off for your son's birthday party and everything went well! Wishing you a lovely Easter weekend! xxx
ReplyDeleteI think I like the pairing with the bag better with the second dress. Glad your son's birthday party went well.
ReplyDeleteLove both of these dresses! The embroidery and print are beautiful. I recently found out that bloggers who use blogger for the site are not getting my comments. I now have to comment with chrome instead of safari. So I apologize if you haven't been getting my comments.

Yes I love that accessories work for that! I like to wear statement pieces when I'm meting new people as it's a nice way to break the ice!
DeleteThat was definitely a great dress for the birthday party. Super cute! Hope he had a great and memorable day!
ReplyDeleteThese are both such pretty dresses! Have a great weekend!

I love the second dress, it looks so elegant!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI loved both dresses, but my preference goes to the second one, it's very trendy! I think you would be the best dressed of the adults at these kids parties!
I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Easter

So glad your son's party went off without a hitch; I always found them so stressful too and yet surprisingly fun once I let myself relax and enjoy. Both dresses are so pretty but I am really loving the print on the second one. It's so striking with it's bold colors.
ReplyDeleteYes it can be stressful putting it all in place but always fun on the day!
DeleteBoth dresses are pretty. You're becoming a regular at birthday parties!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter weekend beautiful Mica!
ReplyDeleteYay, that your son's party was such a success--and in the face of so many variables too! Sounds like he had a blast! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your son. I am so glad everything went well and love both dresses but outfit 2 is my favourite. Happy Easter.

Thanks! it's actually just a cheap printed one from a fast fashion brand, it would be awesome if it was embroidered.
DeleteLovely outfits for birthday seasons.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were not too badly affected by the floods. Two of my partner's nephew's homes in Brisbane were flooded, one quite badly.
So sorry to hear about that! I hope they were able to recover quickly. We were flooded in, all the roads out were cut, but we were lucky that our house wasn't flood impacted, although our neighbours were quite badly. We made sure to help them with the clean up!
DeleteAwwwwww..Your kids bday party sounds fun! Wonderful Post! Have a great day!

You are such an awesome mom! My mom did the same thing when I was their age. It's a great way to have a birthday with all of their friends. Everyone is already together.
