What I wore:
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs mauve square scarf
Tee: Atmos&Here navy stripe v-neck tee
Jeans: Nobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta
Why I wore it:
With the navy stripe tee matching the cosy navy waterfall cardigan, and the black Nobody Denim skinny jeans and black sneakers, this could have been a really dark toned outfit, even with the white in the stripes. The magenta Balenciaga Day bag and purple scarf were the perfect way to add a bit more colour, and I appreciated the extra cosiness from the scarf too, it was a particularly cold day and I was thankful for the scarf on the school run, especially in the morning!Had a quiet day of working from home before picking the kids up in the afternoon, and then sports in the evening. Jeans and a tee is the perfect casual outfit for that.

Why I wore it:
This was one of those outfits I'd planned in my head that didn't quite translate how I wanted to when I put it on in the morning. It was a busy day though, with helping out in my son's classroom after the school run, working from home, and then last minute shopping for a birthday present for a birthday party the next day after school pick up. I had planned this scarf but realised it didn't look quite right, but had no time to try another. Not the worst combination, but I do think another scarf would have worked better. The shoes are new to me! I rarely ever see shoes in my size at the opshops so getting a pair of Adidas Superstar sneakers for $3 the other year was an awesome steal. My mum found these Stan Smiths and was hoping they would fit her, but unfortunately they didn't. She brought them over for me to try though and they work for me, so she gave them to me. $0 sneakers is the best!

How You Can Wear It:
For a little bit of matchy-matchy, try pairing a striped tee in a similar shade to a cosy cardigan in winter. Adding other colours with accessories like I have with scarves and bags is fun to try too!

ReplyDeleteI love that scarlet cardigan! What a gorgeous piece. And it looks wonderful with that striped top. I actually like the scarf that you paired with the outfit. The subtle stripes look really beautiful! How wonderful to find shoes for such a great price as well. You definitely know how to shop smart!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.

Amazing how the purple scarf + magenta bag ramped up that neutral outfit!
ReplyDeleteColourful accessories are so good for that! :)
DeleteStriped tops are a wardrobe staple and perfect for any season! I'm loving the pops of magenta and purple in the otherwise dark first outfit, but the real surprise was your second outfit. I think it worked out quite well. The scarf is perfect in my book, but perhaps a slightly darker pair of jeans would have been better? In any case, I just love the red cardigan! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh yes darker jeans might have worked too! Definitely something I'll try tweak next time :)
DeleteYou look great. Love all the pops of color. Little envious of your cooler temps, we are living in a sauna here.
ReplyDeleteYou do have to have the occasional odd clunker of an outfit. Although, it looked fine to me.
ReplyDeleteHigh five to good quality thrift store shoes! I have found some of my favorites at local thrift stores.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes
Alexandra
You look wonderfully cozy in both outfits! Isn't it fun how scarves add just that little bit of extra to an outfit? And, that's a great deal on the shoes!

Awesome find on the sneakers. Have an awesome week.

I love the pink/purple combo in the first outfit, Mica - the striped top really grounds it and brings it all into focus. I like the second outfit - I think the scarf is fine - but I see where you might have wanted a more colourful one (a floral would be awesome) to give it a bit more of a lively look.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
Yes, I really need a red floral scarf, haha!
DeleteIt's amazing how a subtle change of color can make an outfit look so different—that red cardigan is really eye-catching!

It is a fun statement piece for winter!
DeleteIt's amazing how the bright purse can add such a great color to the first outfit. And I like the scarf with the second look.

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever went with purple and pink together in the same outfit but it works really well here! I'll have to think about that color combination for our winter months.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a fun combo to try! Pink, purple and blue always go so well together.
DeleteYou look cosy, we needed some cooler weather last week. Thanks for hosting the linkup. Jacqui x
ReplyDeletevery nice and relaxed outfit! I agree it's perfect to work from home and do some casual pickups. I love magenta bag the most, the color pops so nicely, I think it makes the first outfit stand out more. SO much for handbag elevation if you ask me

ReplyDeleteWOW, you sure have a way of turning your WINTER BLUES into stunning outfits with dashes of red and pink shawls and bag. I must invest into a more colourful bag like you, my bags are all dull browns, black and cream!
ReplyDeleteI love bright bags - I have so many, can never get enough, haha!
