What I wore:
Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
Skirt: Nobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty
Why I wore it:
Crazy weather on this day! There was a minor tornado at Brisbane airport. I'd been rushing around a bit that morning trying to get my son ready for school when I looked out the window and saw the previously grey sky you can see in the pic was turning a very dark scary grey. We were already running a bit late for school, but seeing that made us all move a little faster! Lucky the rain wasn't too heavy so I didn't get too wet dropping him off. I was back home just a few minutes before the storm hit and the rain really started coming down! (And it didn't turn into a tornado until after it passed us thankfully). My youngest and I spent most of the morning at home sitting around waiting for the storm to pass enough for us to get out to the library and the grocery store. Although the rain stopped by the time we left the house, the playground was out of the question as the sky still looked pretty dark. It was a quick couple of stops then back home until school pick up in the afternoon, when I found out the storm had resulted in a tornado and I felt a little bad for driving when we could still hear the rumbles of thunder! Spring storms are normal in Brisbane, tornados not so much!
Despite the crazy weather day, I did like this outfit. With the black denim skirt the kimono was just the perfect topper and the dark floral print works so well with the lilac tee, even though the shades are different. It's not the first time I've tired this tee and kimono combination either, I really like it! The periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag complimented the different shades of purple nicely. Blue and purple are so good together.

How To Adjust The Chloe Paraty Strap:
What I wore:
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Tee: Atmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine
Skirt: thrifted no label rust ruffle tiered skirt
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty
Why I wore it:
This kimono had popped up in my Instagram memories and I realised it was very overdue another wear! With the rust in the print, this cute rust ruffle skirt was an obvious pairing with it. The purple in the print gave me the idea of trying this deep wine tee with it too. I've enjoyed wearing burgundy with this rust skirt before, and although this tee is more purple-y than a true burgundy, I liked the combo. I've worn this tee with the kimono before too! I went with the periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag based on the blue in the print of the kimono as well, even though, like the purple, it's a different shade. It was a really hot and humid day and we had a playdate at the park in the morning, so I probably didn't really need the kimono. The sleeves on the tee are long enough for shoulder coverage. I decided still to wear it that morning because I felt it pulled the outfit together well with all the different colours being in the print. While I love the colours and liked the outfit in the morning, looking at the photos after I think maybe the pieces didn't look as great together as I thought - good colour combinations to try, but not the best pieces to do it with.
After heading home for lunch and cooling off in the aircon for a bit, we headed out again to enjoy a local carnival in the afternoon, before the severe storms blew in. Again we were luckily safely home again that evening before the storm hit.

How You can Wear It:
Floral kimonos are a great addition to your wardrobe! If you're not sure what to wear with them, you can get inspiration from the colours in the print. The pieces you pick don't even have to match the colours of the print exactly, neither of these outfits are perfect matchy-matchy ones, the colours are just similar.
I especially love the kimono in the first outfit and the skirt in the second. You have some beautiful pieces!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Yea, I don't think we've had many tornadoes where I live. It's mostly hurricanes that get us. But we've had a couple random things as well.
ReplyDeleteLove that first kimono, such a great color combo and the second is really pretty as well.

I couldn't imagine hurricanes!
DeleteI love your outfits with these kimono toppers. I know you weren't feeling the second outfit combo but I do like the two colors together. The outfit has an autumnal vibe and your hair, wow! They are so long now. I really love the color too and of course, the sports shoes you wear work so well with both outfits. I'm terrified of tornados or anything that involves violent rumbling, flickering in the skies with turbulent winds. I'm glad that you and kiddos escaped the rare tornado!

The colours are nice, I think I should just try them with different pieces next time :)
DeleteLove the colour of your Chloe bag. SO pretty!

love your two tiered skirt what a fabulous color!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the tornado Mica, fortunately it was still in its storm formation while it was passing your way, but either way it must have been scary. I'm glad you are safe.
ReplyDeleteI love your first outfit with the washed lilac top. That black mini skirt is adorable and it suits you really well. I also really like the kimono.
The rusty skirt looks great with the kimono with rusty touches. Another great styling.
Very fine outfits 😊 Have a nice day 😊
ReplyDeleteI like your kimonos, flower pattern is so beautiful and I like how you style them with shorts. I can't imagine how look like warm weather because we are now in cold winter period. Enjoy sunny days.
ReplyDeleteI love kimonos and I think both outfits are great.

How scary to have a tornado - even a minor one - happening close by. I'm glad it passed you by.
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely Spring outfits. You do kimonos so well, Mica! I love them both, but the second one, with its rust and wine combo, is making my heart sing! xxx
Yes I'm very thankful it passed by! I'm glad I gave the colour combo a try :)
Deletelove your kimonos

Both are great styles :-D
ReplyDeleteI like the second color combination. And, of course, the lighting with a picture may make the look of it look different than it looked in the real world.
ReplyDeleteTrue, sometimes pictures just don't capture it quite right!
DeleteBoth outfits are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI really love your kimonos.
Kisses!

Yikes! A tornado! You're getting crazy weather like we are here in BC!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfits, Mica. The first one is very soft and pretty - love the bag with it. The second one...I actually prefer the colour mix here - I think it's the colours of a sunset, and it's so lovely. However, I agree with you that the pieces themselves are not quite right. I think the waistline is too low, and the baggy tee plus the bulky skirt are not quite working together harmoniously. I would love to see this with a slimmer-fitting top or a long and swooshy skirt. LOVE your copper heart necklace - did you think of me? :)
Thanks Sheila! Yes the colours are great I'll need to find a way I can try it again with different pieces - I'm starting to notice that you can tell in all the photos that I'm wearing the skirt low on my hips to give extra length, haha! Sadly not a copper necklace, although it is copper coloured!
DeleteMe gusto mucho el primer outfit con el color morado, saludos:D
ReplyDeleteLove the kimonos!! We had a tornado destroy part of the shopping center that is located just on the side of our development 3 years ago and narrowly missing our development! We do not normally get tornadoes in NEPA!! It was quite scary!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for stopping by!!
Hugs,
Debbie
How scary it came so close to you! Glad you were safe!
DeleteThanks =) Oh yes the little reindeer is so cute.
ReplyDeleteMy week is rainy too but I do much sports so it's nice :D
Nice post with beautiful outfits =)
I would prefer the first one a little bit more because I like those colours.
It must be so scary to have to deal with a tornado!
ReplyDeleteEven if it passed away form you, just the idea sounds frightening.. anyway I'm happy you haven't any consequence from it! :)
Love the shade of your bag and the way you've paired it with your top and kimonos: very nice color combos!

ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
I'm glad you are safe from that tornado. I've always hated them because they are so unpredictable.

ReplyDeleteSuper cute outfits! I love that plum and mustard combination!
ReplyDeleteI love these looks! So fun for spring, indeed. Glad you didn't get caught in a tornado. We get them a lot in the summer here in the Midwest, so we're kind of used to those dark, scary skies.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend!
I can't imagine having them regularly, we never get them here! We are lucky it passed us by.
DeleteBoth these outfits are so beautiful! Love your kimonos! The tornado incident sounds scary. Glad to know you guys are safe.
