Tank: Sass and Bide "For Easy Reference" tank
Jeans: Nobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
Why I wore it:
More of a late autumn outfit than an end of summer outfit really, needing both jeans and a blazer! I wore this at the end of February, for a quiet Friday with the school run and working from home. With the downpour that started overnight the night before it was very cold and wet - jeans were a good choice and I added the blazer for warmth. Got absolutely drenched when dropping the kids off as school, but thankfully the blazer dried quickly, being made of rayon. With the rain continuing, we postponed some after school errands in favour of staying home and dry. Made some chocolate chip cookies to cheer us up with all the rain too. Hubby noted that water was starting to come over the roads on his way home.Woke up the next morning to find out from our neighbour that the street was flooding. During one of our walks that weekend when the rain was lighter to check on the flood levels, we stumbled across a poor drenched and shivering little budgie under a bush! Little thing was so tired and scared, it let me pick it up and snuggled into my jumper. The next day, someone in the area was able to drive close enough to us that we could walk through the floods and give the budgie to him for more normal living arrangement in a proper bird cage (instead of the box we hastily constructed) until the owner could be found. Such a crazy weekend!
We ended up being flooded in for 3 days. We are so lucky our house stayed dry. We've been through floods before of course in other places, but after building this house just over 2 years ago it's never faced an extreme event like this before, and we've never had persistent floods since the boys were born. Lots of comparisons around here to Brisbane's 2011 floods, and lots of friends and neighbours who evacuated and so many many houses destroyed. If you want to, you can donate here to help.

Why I wore it:
What a difference a few days makes! When I put outfit photos together for a post I could have worn the outfits anywhere from a day to weeks apart. While I wore these outfits just 3 days apart it felt a lot longer. It was the first day we could actually drive away from our house! The school was still closed because of the flooding but after I finished work for the day we were able to drive out to the grocery store to get a few essentials that we had run out of while flooded in. And we made sure to return some very overdue library books we were supposed to take back on Friday. When it was raining too bad to drive there on Friday I had naively thought the weather would be better on Saturday to return them, but of course we were flooded in.Since I loved the pink and brown combo above I repeated it again! With a black distressed denim skirt this time, a brown animal print tank, and a pink kimono as it was a hot day. It was nice to have the sunshine again, and to see most of the flooding in our suburb dried up.
While I really loved the first outfit and thought I'd love this as it's almost exactly the same outfit formula, I think this was missing something. I debated which necklace to wear for a little bit that morning and maybe a different more statement one would have looked better with this, or tucking the tank into my skirt more.

Pink and brown are lovely together! Try adding a pink topper like a kimono or blazer over a brown tank.

Note: South East Queensland (and parts of NSW) were inundated with water at the end of February. Some areas got 80% of their annual rainfall in 2-3 days. If you can, please consider donating to the flood relief effort. https://www.redcross.org.au/floodsappeal/
We avoided flood impacts but we were flooded in.

I love brown and pink together, Mica. These soft pinks look so great on you, too! I am so glad that you were able to save the budgie. I hope he made it home to his owner!
ReplyDeleteShelbee
Unfortunately his owner still hasn't come forward so I think the neighbour who took him in will be keeping him - he let me know he didn't mind though, he's going to give to his mum or sister if it doesn't get along with his birds! :)
DeleteSuch cute color combos!
ReplyDeleteI love the brown and pink combo and I have seen it a lot recently, not that you mention it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have any brown pieces though - maybe a shirt?
It has been around a lot! I always think I don't have a lot of brown but I forget the pieces I do have!
DeleteThese soft colors look so pretty on you, and your outfits are perfect for the transitional season. Glad you got through the flood ok, and your house did not sustain any damage! Hope you have a good week and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you! yes we were very lucky with the floods!
DeleteI heard from family about the flood. Horrible isn't it! I have to get used to see you in somewhat darker clothes! It's because we are starting with spring here and I see everyone in bright colors! Have a good start of the week!
ReplyDeleteIt's just been devastating the floods here sadly!
DeleteThe colors look so pretty together! I will have to try that. I guess I kind of did with my brown dress and vest this winter but I can probably do some spring looks too!
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Yes I find dusty and blush pinks make it work well for spring!
DeleteOh my goodness. All of the flooding sounds so scary! I am glad that your home has been okay and you are staying positive. I love both looks, especially the first one. You are stunning from head to toe.
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Thanks, we got so lucky with the floods!
DeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI really like this color combination, here we needed it so much for it to rain and you in Australia are suffering from the floods!
Regarding your looks, I liked them both, I can't say which one I liked more and, of course, the bag is beautiful!

I hope you get some rain soon, but certainly not as much as we had!
DeleteLove the pink. it looks good on you. Glad your house stayed dry.
ReplyDeleteAnnie,
Annies Food Diary
Thank you, I'm so glad too!
DeleteThe flooding sounds scary.
ReplyDeleteIt was - but it's good we have been able to help our neighbours and hopefully it doesn't rain like that again for quite some time!
DeleteI have quite a lot of brown in my wardrobe, but have never thought to wear it with pink! This is something I should definitely remedy! I'm particularly loving your first outfit, Mica, although I'm definitely loving the dusky pink kimono in the second outfit too! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a good combo to try! :)
DeleteI don't think I own much brown clothing myself. Have a great week. The weather is starting to warm up here again.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amysfashionblog.com/blog-home
I always think I don't have a lot but I do have a couple pieces! Grey tends to be my go-to neutral over brown.
DeleteSo sorry your home was flooded—that sounds terrible! Love these soft shades of pink on you, especially paired with prints!
ReplyDeleteCheryl Shops | www.cherylshops.net
We are lucky it wasn't our home, but some of our neighbours lost everything :( It's been devastating!
DeleteThis is a dreamy bag Mica, love the whole look hun. Have a super week, nice and quiet for me - need the rest ha ha . x Jacqui x
ReplyDeleteOh my... the flooding sounds so scary.

Hola bonita, la verdad que te quedan genial los dos looks, un besazo.
ReplyDeletePink and brown is one of my favourite colour combos from several years ago - it was huge in the early 00s, and it's fun to see it coming back. It has a vintage feel about it. I love both outfits here, Mica - you look really good in these colours!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the flooding! That is so scary! Sending good vibes for it to clear up!
Thanks Sheila! We were lucky it dried up quickly and we could help our neighbours with the clean up.
DeleteLinda cartera buenas combinaciones la segunda es mi favorita. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThat flooding you guys got was truly insane! I saw it here on the news:( Thank God all seems back to normal now. I hope it stays that way. Sigh...really so insane everything going on in the world right now:(
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, you look great as always:) I'm a big fan of pink and brown together!
There are so many crazy things happening! We are lucky the flood waters went down after a few days so we could get out and we were able to help some neighbours.
DeletePink and brown is a great color combination and I can't remember the last time I've tried it! Glad you found the budgie and were able to get it to a safe place! Poor thing!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it it was just so drenched it couldn't fly poor thing. It was happy to snuggle up in my jumper and come inside to dry out with us.
DeleteThese pink and brown outfits are both so good, but I especially love the jeans and blazer together. I am so sorry to hear about the floods, and I hope that the water has receded and things are drying out now!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great week so far!

Mommy and Daughter Outfit Looks
I am so glad your home stayed dry Mica, but what a time with these floods, it has been unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these outfits on you, I am glad brown is making a return, I use to love it back when brown was the new black. I absolutely love your handbag too xx

Yes I've definitely been seeing brown around a lot, hope it reminds me to pull out these tanks more often! :) The floods have been so bad, but everyone is recovering well!
Deletewonderful outfits and I am sorry about the floods. thankfully your house is ok now. Your bag looks great after 7 years and i remember you wearing it often. Indeed Rebecca Minkoff is a great brand for sturdy daily cute bags!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely they are my go-to bags for everyday, they hold up well!
DeleteThank goodness your house stayed dry - flooding is so scary! Pink and brown are really so lovely together, that bag is terrific too!
ReplyDeletexo,

Yes it was very scary but thankfully we had constructed the house in the right place so we avoided any damage, phew!
Deletelove the soft peaches and pinks this week, so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you've put together two nice outfits. I love the handbag too. Thanks for the blog visit and have a nice week Mica.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with the floods, dear! I love the pink jacket and the skirt looks elegant.

I don't wear brown cause it's not flattering on me at all but I do love how it looks with pink and both of these outfits show off the combination well. Oh no that you guys got flooded in again! Good that your family was safe and that you were able to help that poor little birdie.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm glad we could help the birdie too! I tend to prefer grey over brown as a neutral but I liked wearing these tanks, need to wear them more often!
DeleteI hate it when it floods the island where I live recently got affected by Typhoon Rai and on top of all the flood and damages we had no power for a month! Its so nice of you to rescues the poor little budgie.

Steph - G
Oh wow that's crazy! Most of our neighbours had power bag quickly although one of the worst affected it took 3 weeks for them to get power back. So sad :(
DeleteI love the combo of pink and brown together.
ReplyDeleteI love the brown tones but I never wear them myself, its not a colour I really reach for if i'm going for neutrals i tend to go for beige or grey but i'll definitely try and delve into browns more! Those 'basic' neutrals are always in style!
ReplyDeleteMilli x - http://millidavison.co.uk/
So true, basics always work! grey is my go-to over brown as well, but I think I need to wear these brown tanks more often!
DeleteBeautiful outfit and bag.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.

I love that you rescued that bird, Mica. How sweet is that??
ReplyDeleteAnd the brown and pink?? Perfect!!

We got so lucky! I wasn't going to leave the poor thing there he never would have survived, being unable to fly and with SO many snakes around as they were displaced by the flood waters. The downside of our house not being flooded, snakes!
DeleteIts been a while I wore brown color. But I used to wear a lot. So sorry about the flooding, its so scary. I have experienced some in the past. Please stay safe. :-)
ReplyDeleteVia | https://glossnglitters.com
Thank you - we were lucky and stayed safe through it all and have been able to help our neighbours.
DeleteI love this color combo! I rarely see it together, and you styled them perfectly. Hope you're having a great week!

I love that dusty pink blazer - and that's so incredibly intense about the flooding. I can't even imagine!
ReplyDeleteCourtney ~ Sartorial Sidelines
It was scary but we were very lucky!
DeleteThis is so great. I just love wearing jeans casual or dressy and I feel they can really be great for any kind of outfit. You styled this perfectly. Hope your having a great week so far. https://www.bauchlefashion.com/2022/03/wedding-season-edit-white-stiletto.html
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to find clothes you've forgotten about! These browns and mauves are so serene, and you look lovely as always. That's terrible about the flooding. I'm glad you and your family are doing okay, and that you were able to rescue that little bird. Good idea making cookies to weather the storm! :)
ReplyDeleteYes I stress ate so many cookies that weekend, haha! I was glad I could help that poor bird!
DeleteLos dos outfit les da mucho estilo el color rosa, te vez muy bien, saludos:D
ReplyDeleteThese are both fabulous outfits! I love that combination of pink and brown together too and yet rarely have much of either color in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI definitely don't have as much brown as I do other neutrals, but it was nice to remind myself I do have a few pieces!
DeleteI am so happy that you were able to rescue the bird.
ReplyDeleteShades of brown and pinks work so well together!
Rosemary
Me too! He was so scared and wet he was happy for us to pick him up and get him dried off!
DeleteOh wow, you were indeed flooded in! Oh my, that must have been quite an experience. Seems like the rain has been pretty intense this year. When it starts, it just doesn't seem to want to stop. I hope by this time, the weather's lighten up. BTW, you look amazing in brown! I think it's your new go-to color! I can't wait to see you mix brown with other colors. The shade just goes with your complexion and hair color :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt was so intense! We were lucky we had enough supplies and power so we just stayed home and dry - and occasionally went out to check on the flooded roads for something to do, ha!
DeleteSo sweet of you to rescue that poor bird! I don't know that I've ever heard the name "budgie" before! That's so cute!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's an Australian term! It's a cute little bird, I'm glad we could save it even if we didn't find its owner :(
DeleteThe floods were horrible. I was praying for you. I'll have to try pink & brown. I love your pink & gray outfit! So pretty together.
