Rust Tees, Black Knits, Skinny Jeans and Converse

Layering up some rust toned tees for Brisbane's winter with black jeans, Converse and cosy black knits recently.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Dotti black cocoon cape cardigan
ScarfAlexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarf
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed red clay
Jeans: thrifted Cotton On The High Rise Skinny Jean black coated denim
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

I love the subtle different these coated denim jeans make to an outfit, I'm glad I thrifted them a while back to give the look a try. With a nice cosy cardigan is my favourite way to wear them, and this black cardigan is also an opshop find. With the black jeans, black Converse and black cardigan, I wanted to add a little more colour to this outfit. This washed clay tee is a lovely rust tone that had me pulling out my taupe Alexander McQueen skull scarf and nut brown Chloe Marcie bag to complement the colour.

This was a nice comfortable jeans and tee outfit for working from home, I wasn't planning on having too busy of a day, until I got the message from school in the morning reminding us it was a themed day. I ended up scrabbling to get to the shops and buy the kids something appropriate before drop off! Thankfully they made it to school just before the bell rung. Definitely an eventful morning! Luckily the rest of the day, working from home, didn't have any big surprises!

Last worn: black cocoon cardigan, Alexander McQueen skull scarf, rust tee, coated skinny jeans, Converse, Chloe Marcie shoulder bag.

Other ways to wearblack cocoon cardigan and printed jeans, skull scarf and dress, rust tee and shorts, coated skinny jeans and jumper, Converse and skirt, Chloe Marcie shoulder bag and dress.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

What I wore:

JacketRebecca Minkoff Ruana poncho
NecklaceRoie Designs coral beaded tassel necklace
Tee: Anko Kmart short sleeve slub v-neck tee in copper
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star in hot tea
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO Mim-Mazing crossbody bag in black and light gold

Why I wore it:

This tee is a similar rust colour to the one above, although a different saturation so this one is a lot more vibrant. I liked the peachy necklace with this, but I kept everything else black so the tee was the only colour in my outfit. It was a quiet weekend day and I didn't have much on other than a couple of errands, after dropping my son off at a playdate and then picking him up later in the afternoon.

Leopard Print, Trench Coats And Jeans

Layering up two leopard print tops for the office with trench coats and skinny jeans. The colder morning commutes to work have had me pulling out my thickest, warmest jackets and all my jeans!

What I wore:

Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Earrings: Colette Tropadelic fuchsia coloured metal leaf earrings
Shirts: Anko Kmart button up batwing sleeve leopard print shirt
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star in pink foam
BagBalenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet

Why I wore it:

This leopard print shirt from my sister's wardrobe is a good neutral, but with the black Nobody Denim skinny jeans and the tan trench coat it was a bit too neutral. So I added a lot of pink, with the pale pink Converse, fuchsia pink statement earrings and the sorbet pink Balenciaga city bag. I felt all the different shades of pink with this cheered this outfit up nicely for a day in the office.

The only thing I didn't like about this outfit was the shirt. It's a nice oversized style with batwing sleeves but this is the first time I have worn it untucked and it was sliding about everywhere. I had a tank underneath for warmth more than anything but I was grateful of it a few times as the shirt slid down. It's going to be donated, too fiddly for me to wear unless I only want to tuck it in, now I see why my sister no longer wanted it!

Last worn: camel trench coat, statement fuchsia earrings, leopard print shirt, Nobody Denim jeans, pink Converse, sorbet pink Balenciaga city bag.

Other ways to weartan trench coat worn 30 ways, leopard print shirt and skirt, Nobody Denim jeans and blazer, pink Converse and skirtsorbet pink Balenciaga city bag worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyBalenciaga sorbet pink city bag at 37 weeks.

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest Monica Mac coat in Indigo
EarringsKmart blue fringe crescent statement earrings
Top: See by Chloe silk mixed print tassel top from Sheila's wardrobe
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
ShoesAdidas Superstar sneakers
BagChloe small Paraty bag in wine purple

Why I wore it:

I don't wear this pretty blue silk leopard print blouse enough! It's handwash only which means I'm not even brave enough to try it in the washing machine handwash cycle with most of my clothes - I actually need to take the time to handwash it separately. It's so pretty though, I love the print and the mix of prints on the tassel ties and sleeves (which are striped). Sadly as this was one of the days I had to be up and in the office early, the sun hadn't risen enough to see that detail in the photos.

Just like the outfit above I wore black skinny jeans and sneakers. I added a little extra colour to this with the purple Chloe Paraty bag too. I always like adding more colour with a bag.

Black Skinny Jeans, Blouses and Denim Trench Coat

Wearing my Kmart denim trench coat again, with black skinny jeans, blue Converse and blouses for winter office days.

What I wore:

Jacket: Kmart Anko full length oversized denim trench coat
Earrings: Target solid silver hoops
Necklace: thrifted hammered silver statement necklace
Top: Jeanswest Frankie soft blouse in berry
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

Despite it being a super cold winter day I had an event at work I wanted to dress up for. I caved and went with jeans for warmth, and had a singlet layered under this silky blouse. With the long sleeves it kept me warm and I felt it dressed up my jeans a little more, especially when paired with this silver statement necklace. The funniest thing was when I saw mum in the afternoon, she was also wearing a silky blouse like this, just in blue!

With the denim trench and the Nobody Denim skinny jeans this was a lot of denim, but I didn't have to wear my trench in the office. I added a little extra blue against the trench though with the blue Converse and the blue Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag.

Last worn: denim trench coat, silver hoop earrings, silver necklace, silky blouse, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, blue Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag.

Other ways to weardenim trench coat and dress, silky blouse and maxi skirt, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and leather jacket, blue Converse and skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag and shorts.

What I wore:

Jacket: Kmart Anko full length oversized denim trench coat
Earrings: Colette Tropadelic purple beaded tassel statement earrings
Top: Jeanswest Chana long sleeve stud top in night sky navy
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

Another long sleeved jewel toned blouse with black jeans, this navy studded one this time. Again I wore the denim trench, it's been keeping me quite cosy in the cooler morning and afternoon commutes to work. As this navy blouse is studded I skipped the necklace, and just added these purple statement earrings. I wanted a purple bag to be a bit matchy-matchy, and although this raisin purple Balenciaga work bag isn't an exact match with the purple earrings I liked the two together.

Again I wore my blue Converse. They are becoming a go-to with this denim trench, even though like the bag and earrings they aren't exact shade matches.

Last worn: purple tassel earrings, denim trench coat (above), navy blouse, faded black skinny jeans, blue Converse (above), purple Balenciaga work bag.

Other ways to weardenim trench coat and dress, navy blouse and skirt, faded black skinny jeans and stripes, blue Converse and maxi skirt, purple Balenciaga work bag.

Denim Skirts, Colourful Tees, Printed Layers and Grey MAB

Two colourful v-neck tees with printed cover ups, denim skirts, and my Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag that was overdue a wear.

What I wore:

JacketThe Kindness Kimono 'Dream Catch Me' print
Earrings: Piper gold heart earrings
Necklace: mixed metal hammered pendant necklace
TeeAnko Kmart short sleeve slub v-neck tee in copper (new purchase)
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoes: thrifted Anko Kmart black strappy sandals
Bracelets:  Mimco mini shimmy bracelet in bluebell
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

Wore this for church in the morning, and a playdate for my son in the afternoon. When I bought this tee I thought of this printed cover up right away! The copper colour is so perfect with the orange and red in this cover up print, and I really liked the combination. I was glad this pairing turned out as well as I hoped it would when I saw the tee in the store.

I kept the rest of my outfit neutral, with the black sandals, black denim skirt, and the grey Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag. It's been a while since I wore this bag so it was good to get it out again.

Last worn: heart stud earrings, printed cover up, mixed metal necklace, black denim skirt, black sandals, Rebecca Minkoff MAB. First time I've worn the tee as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearprinted cover up and jeans, black denim skirt and florals, black sandals and dressRebecca Minkoff grey MAB worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyRebecca Minkoff MAB in third trimester.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted no label black and white leopard print cocoon cardigan
Earrings: thrifted Target hammered silver circle earrings
Necklace: handmade silver and gold faux pearl beaded necklace
TeeCotton On deep v tee in washed desert rose
Skirt: Salvos Nobody Denim grey distressed denim skirt
ShoesHavaianas glitter Rosa Macaron
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a busier weekend day, with a trip to the vets for Bonnie as it's coming up on a year after we adopted her and she was due her annual vaccines. The kids came along for support for her too, she was such a brave dog!

After the vets it was a few errands and getting some jewellery repaired, I'd been meaning to do it for a while so it was nice to find a local place. I even had time for a browse in my favourite opshop on the ay home, although I didn't score any new wardrobe items for me as I'd had a lot of success at the start of the month, I did pick up some books for the kids and I.

This pink tee is one I've hit 30 wears on, and I will really need to do a 30 ways to wear post on it soon, it's a firm favourite! I thought it added just the right amount of colour to the grey Nobody denim skirt and the grey Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag. The leopard print cocoon cardigan was nice and cosy, although I definitely didn't need it later in the afternoon as it warmed up into such a warm day.

Last worn: silver circle earrings, leopard cardigan, faux pearl necklace, pink tee, grey nobody Denim skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff MAB (above).

Other ways to wear: leopard cardigan and jeanspink tee and shorts, grey nobody Denim skirt with yellow, Rebecca Minkoff MAB and dress.

Grey Tees With Green And Denim Skirts

Two grey tee and denim skirt outfits for the school run and WFH days, both featuring grey and green with colourful printed cover ups.

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest Delilah long line kimono in green floral
Necklace: thrifted Belle Folie multi colour tassel necklace
Tee: Anko Kmart short sleeve slub v-neck tee in lead grey
Skirt: Salvos Nobody Denim grey distressed denim skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

This was an exciting day for my son with an excursion he'd been really looking forward to. Unfortunately his brother still had school, so I had a couple of drop offs to coordinate before working from home and then arranging different pick ups in the afternoon. They both had a good day though!

I wanted to be comfortable so I went with a tee and denim combination, as I seem to be defaulting to a lot for working from home days lately! As it was a little chilly in the autumn morning I added this green floral print duster. It brightens the grey tee and grey denim skirt combination nicely, as does the fun colourful tassel necklace. I also liked the extra physical sunblock it provided when I was outside in the afternoon.

The periwinkle blue Chloe Paraty is one I've worn with this green floral duster a lot, I like the blue and green together.

Last worn: green floral duster, tassel necklace, grey tee, Nobody Denim skirt, Havaianas, Chloe periwinkle Paraty bag.

Other ways to weargreen floral duster and shorts, grey tee and printed skirt, Nobody Denim skirt and graphic tee, Chloe periwinkle Paraty bag and dress.

What I wore:

Jacket:  thrifted no label tropical print tassel cover up
NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
Tee: grey marle pocket tee
Skirt: Jeanswest light olive denim skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC

Why I wore it:

Another day of working from home and doing the school run, another grey tee and denim skirt combination! As you can see in the first outfit, I have no issue pairing different shades of grey together, and I like wearing multiple different shades of blue in my outfits. I thought I'd try something a little different with this outfit and wear different shades of green. The light olive denim skirt is a very different shade from the bright almost neon green in the pam print cover up, but I think the colours looked good together with the blue in the print between them.

Red Bag, Black Skinny Jeans and Animal Print Office Outfits

With cooler autumn weather arriving this March in Brisbane, I've started getting my jeans out again. Wearing both of these black skinny jeans to the office with animal print tops and a pop of colour from my red Rebecca Minkoff studded saddle bag.

What I wore:

Earrings: thrifted red dinosaur skeleton earrings
Shirt: Anko Kmart button up batwing sleeve leopard print shirt
Jeans: Jeanswest black skinny jeans with zipper detail
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red

Why I wore it:

This shirt is from my sister's wardrobe. I love the relaxed fit and the batwing sleeves. It is a very thick polyester though, and much too warm last time I wore it. it was good to get it out again on this cooler day, no extra layer needed. I tucked it in to show off the zipper detail on the pockets of these jeans.

The black Converse were an obvious choice with the black skinny jeans, I wear the two together quite often. Even though the red dinosaur earrings are a deeper and darker shade of red than the brighter Rebecca Minkoff studded saddle bag, I liked the two red accessories with this neutral coloured outfit.

Last worn: dinosaur earrings, leopard print shirt, zip detail jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff studded saddle bag.

Other ways to wearleopard print shirt, zip detail jeans and trench, black Converse and skirtRebecca Minkoff saddle bag worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Jeanswest cobalt blue blazer
Earrings: Piper gold heart earrings
Necklace: thrifted flat navy statement bead necklace
CamiKmart Anko leopard print cami
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red

Why I wore it:

Just like the outfit above, I followed the same basic formula, with black skinny jeans and my black converse again, topped with an animal print top. This cheetah print cami is, like the bright cobalt blazer, an opshop find. With the spaghetti straps of the cami I needed something to cover up my shoulders for a day in the office, and I liked the extra warmth this blazer gave my otherwise bare shoulders on the colder autumn morning commute.

While this is a more colourful outfit with the bright cobalt blazer, I still went with the red studded saddle bag, I really like the cheerful combination of the bright blue jacket and red crossbody bag together.

Last worn: heart stud earrings, cobalt blazer, navy necklace, animal print cami, Nobody Denim black skinny jeans, black Converse (above), Rebecca Minkoff studded red saddle bag (above).

Other ways to wearcobalt blazer and dress, animal print cami and skirt, Nobody Denim black skinny jeans and leather jacket, black Converse and shortsRebecca Minkoff saddle bag worn 30 ways.

Orange and Grey Tee and Skirt Outfits With Yellow Bag

Two different outfits, even though they both feature skirts, tees, and grey orange and yellow colours together.

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted bronze foil statement necklace
Tee: Anko Kmart short sleeve slub v-neck tee in lead grey
Skirtthrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
Shoes: Kmart tan crossover slides
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip

Why I wore it:

Wanted something comfortable to wear for a day of working from home, with an outing to the vets for the dogs, the school run, and sports in the evening. Maxi skirts are great for evening sports as the long length is a bit of a physical blocker for mozzies, although I do liberally apply bug spray too!

I really liked this grey tee with the ochre orange of the maxi skirt, I thought it was a really nice combination. It's not the first time I've worn grey with this orange skirt, but it is the first time I've worn this particular tee with the skirt. Definitely something I'll need to wear again.

I added the yellow mini 5-zip bag as I thought it was a fun pop of colour with the neutral grey tee, and I like it against the orange skirt as well.

Last worn: grey tee, bronze foil necklace, ochre maxi skirt, tan slides, yellow mini 5 zip bag.

Other ways to weargrey tee and midi skirt, ochre maxi skirt and denim jacket, tan slides and jeans, yellow mini 5 zip bag and dress.

What I wore:

Earrings: neutral clay disc earrings
Necklace: thrifted yellow beaded statement pendant long necklace
TeeSass and Bide 'New Day Rising' tee in orange leopard print
Skirt: Salvos Nobody Denim grey distressed denim skirt
Shoes: black matte slim Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip

Why I wore it:

Another tee and skirt outfit for working from home, with the school run and a playdate in the afternoon. This time around I went with an orange tee and a grey distressed denim skirt, and again I wore my little yellow Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5-zip bag. Although it's the same basic formula I like how different this outfit looked.

I really like this distressed denim skirt, it was an opshop find. It goes so well with any tees, and I like the fun neon leopard print one with it. Just like in the first outfit, I find the yellow mini 5-zip bag is a nice pop of colour against the neutral grey. Although the orange in this outfit is much brighter than in the skirt, it still pairs so nicely as well.

Last worn: earrings, leopard tee, yellow pendant necklace, grey denim skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip bag (above).

Other ways to wearleopard tee and jeans, grey denim skirt with purple, Rebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip bag and dress.

Note: we are in the direct path of Cyclone Alfred, this is a pre-scheduled post. We had time to prepare our home the best we could, and I have a few posts scheduled as I don't know what the impact will have been as I type this.

Burgundy Tees, Black Denim Skirts, Printed Cover Ups And Mimco Mim-Mazing Bag

Two simple burgundy tee and black denim skirt outfits, with colourful cover ups and my Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag.

What I wore:

Earrings: Piper gold heart earrings
Jacket: thrifted purple and red Paisley print duster
Necklace: thrifted bronze foil statement necklace
TeeCotton On The One sangria v-neck tee
SkirtNobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
Shoes: Kmart tan crossover slides
Bracelets: the usual plus Mimco gunmetal twisted bracelet stack
BagMIMCO Mim-Mazing crossbody bag in black and light gold

Why I wore it:

Wore this for the school drop off, working from home, and an appointment in the afternoon before picking the kids up at school. While the red on this Paisley print duster is a lighter red, I think it pairs so nicely with deeper reds and this burgundy tee was overdue a wear. It was a super hot day, so a cute denim mini skirt was a practical choice to beat the heat, and then I had to go matchy-matchy with the Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag. I did consider wearing black sandals with this to complete the matchy-matchy feel, but decided on these simple slides instead, mostly because I didn't have to look as hard for these as they were right by the door, ha!

Last worn: heart stud earrings, bronze foil necklace, twist bracelet stack, Paisley print cover up, burgundy tee, Nobody Denim skirt, tan slides, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag.

Other ways to wearPaisley print cover up and jeans, burgundy tee and shorts, Nobody Denim skirt with pink and purple, tan slides and dress, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag and jeans.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Shein black floral print cover up
NecklaceRoie Designs coral beaded tassel necklace
TeeZalora Basics maroon stepped t-shirt
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoes:  slim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO Mim-Mazing crossbody bag in black and light gold

Why I wore it:

This black floral print thrifted cover up is a lovely sheer material, however it is polyester and I did regret picking it for that reason alone a few times on this day, as I ran around between stores as I had a couple errands and some groceries to buy. It got very hot!

I did like the way the black florals worked with the black denim skirt and the burgundy tee, the colours all look so good together. Like in the first outfit, the red in the print is lighter than the deep red of the tee, but again I liked the pieces together. It was just a very humid day and the extra layer in a not very breathable fabric wasn't ideal! I think the outfit would have been a little plain without that extra print though.

Last worn: floral cover up, beaded necklace, burgundy tee, black denim skirt, Havaianas, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag (above).

Other ways to wearfloral cover up and shorts, burgundy tee and maxi skirt, black denim skirt and blazer, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag and jeans.

Green and Grey Denim Skirt and Tee Outfits

Two green and grey casual outfits, both with printed cover ups and again my teal Mimco cocoon bag that's become a real go-to for me since I bought it late last year.

What I wore:

JacketSeed Heritage black printed poncho
Earrings: handmade pink star clay earrings made by my sister
Necklace: Tiffany & Co pink double heart tag pendant necklace
Top: Target embroidered khaki tank
Skirt: Salvos Nobody Denim grey distressed denim skirt
Shoes: thrifted Anko Kmart black strappy sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Mimco Slay to the rhythm bracelet in silver
BagMIMCO vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

This was a fun day despite the heat! The kids had an art class at the library in the morning that was really good, then we had lunch and headed into the city for a very busy Brisbane Bookfest. I really enjoyed the $2.50 book section, and the kids weren't too upset about the long wait to get into the comic section as they came home with so many new comic and gaming books, they were really pleased!

I wanted to cover up my shoulders as a physical barrier against the sun when we were walking around, but it was too hot to consider a tee so I picked this pretty embroidered tank that hasn't been worn in a while. With the black embroidery I thought this black cover up was a good matchy-matchy choice, as were the black sandals. The grey denim skirt of course goes with everything, it was a great Vinnies (opshop) find.

While the teal Mimco cocoon bag doesn't match the khaki green of the tank, once again I enjoyed wearing this bag with other shades of green. And I had a few big reusable totes for us to our preloved book haul at bookfest, that our water bottles and some snacks fit inside so I just needed a crossbody bag for the essentials.

Last worn: pink clay earrings, black and white printed duster, Tiffany heart necklace, green embroidered tank, grey Nobody Denim skirt, black sandals, Mimco teal cocoon bag.

Other ways to wearblack and white printed duster and shorts, green embroidered tank and maxi skirt, grey Nobody Denim skirt and graphic tee, black sandals and dress, Mimco teal cocoon bag and blazer.

What I wore:

JacketWoven Heart gold floral kimono
NecklaceRoie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tassel
Tee: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
Skirt: Jeanswest light olive denim skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual plus wooden bead bracelet set
BagMIMCO vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

Another cover up and another grey and green outfit. This time around I wore a pale green distressed denim skirt with a grey top. I wore this to work from home, with an appointment for the kids in the afternoon. I like simple tee outfits when working from home.

I added a little more interest to this for video calls and a little physical sunblock with the floral print duster. I like the mix of colours it added to the neutral outfit, and with the blues and greens in the floral print I thought the Mimco teal cocoon bag was a pretty good pairing as well. I really liked this outfit.
