Blazer and Jeans Outfits With Embroidered Tops | Weekday Wear Link Up

Two very similar outfits for today's Weekday Wear Link Up as the cold winter weather in Brisbane has me sticking to easily repeatable outfit formulas - even though I wore these for different occasions.

What I wore:

casual office outfit black skinny jeans converse embroidered blouse and blazer love too bag | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather | awayfromtheblue

Jacketthrifted Zara black blazer
Necklace: personalised gold children's names charm necklace
Blouse: Jeanswest Elise longline embroidered shirt in coconut blue
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather

Why I wore it:

Another office outfit! It's so strange to have an office day now, but everything aligned for us to all have the team in at the office on this day (even someone from another state!) so we had to take advantage with a big team lunch. I haven't been in the office for a few months. I got sick last time I was in so I've been wary about going in again, but it was good to see everyone face to face. I did worry that I might have dressed down a little too much - I have some very stylish team members and with the Converse and jeans my blazer wasn't quite enough to elevate my outfit to their formal levels of return to office wear, but when my boss turned up in jeans I knew I'd picked well for the day!

The jersey blazer is really cosy and while I considered packing a scarf I didn't need it - the long sleeved blouse underneath was enough to keep me warm. This blouse was definitely overdue another wear, not having been worn in a couple years! I liked the blue embroidery with the deep teal of the Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag, which is quickly becoming my go-to handbag for office days (as rare as office days are!).

Last worn: black jersey blazer, charm necklaceblue embroidered blouse, faded black skinny jeans, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag.

Other ways to wearblack jersey blazer and printed skirt, blue embroidered blouse and printed shorts, faded black skinny jeans and kimono, Converse and dress, Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag and denim skirt.

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest grey jersey blazer
Tank: Target embroidered khaki tank
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

Exactly the same outfit formula as the outfit above, this one just shades of grey and a little bit of olive. I felt this was more casual than the one above, maybe because it was a little lighter than the black one above and less-suit like. Wore this for a regular day with the school run, helping out in my son's classroom in the morning, working from home and then a quick errand in the afternoon before a doctor's appointment for the kids after school pick up. They were not very impressed to have to have their flu shots but given flu has been going around the school like crazy it was a good idea to get them protected! They have both sadly caught the flu since, but it hasn't hit them as hard as some others thankfully.

I really liked this olive embroidered tank with the grey jersey blazer, and with the dark grey jeans as well and the black and white Adidas Superstar sneakers I kept the neutral theme going with this neutral brown Chloe Marcie bag, that goes with everything! I really liked the brown with the olive of the embroidered tank too. I don't usually stick with neutral coloured outfits, I like adding pops of colour, but I think this all worked so well.

Last worn: grey jersey blazer, olive embroidered tank, charcoal Nobody Denim jeans, Adidas Superstar, Chloe Marcie shoulder bag.

Other ways to weargrey jersey blazer in the office, olive embroidered tank and shorts, charcoal Nobody Denim jeans worn two ways, Adidas Superstar and dress, Chloe Marcie shoulder bag and maxi skirt.

How You Can Wear It:

Jeans and a blazer is perfect for a very laid back business casual office, or for casual Friday! It's a good choice to wear outside the office too.

Jeans, Colourful Cardigans and Peplum Tops

Adding extra colour to some peplum top and jeans outfits with cosy bright cardigans for autumn days back in May.

What I wore:

mustard cardigan with navy bird print tank grey nobody denim jeans MAM bag | awayfromblue

rebecca minkoff soft grey MAB mini bag worn on arm | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: thrifted SES Fashions mustard yellow cardigan
Necklace: silver heart long pendant necklace
Tank: Kmart navy bird print peplum frill hem tank
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

I felt it had been a while since I'd last worn this awesome bird print peplum tank, and it was definitely due another wear, before the weather cools off too much and I stop wearing sleeveless tops like this as often. I thought this day was perfect for it, with the school run, volunteering in my son's classroom and working from home before a quick few errands before school pick up in the afternoon, and more errands and a library visit afterwards. It was a warmer day than I expected though, and I found myself taking my cardigan off for school pick up, as all the running around was making me regret the choice to layer up!

I really liked the mustard cardigan with the navy blue tank, and all the darker neutrals in the rest of my outfit. The grey Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag is an old favourite and perfect for fitting everything in it for a busy day! The silver heart necklace was a nice bit of matchy-matchy with the silver hardware on the bag, even though I don't think it was the best choice for this outfit, I'd been in a rush that morning and didn't have time to try too many options. And these grey Nobody Denim jeans go with everything!

Last worn: mustard cardigan, silver heart necklace, bird print peplum tank, grey Nobody Denim jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM.

Other ways to wearmustard cardigan and shorts, bird print peplum tank and pencil skirt, grey Nobody Denim jeans worn 2 ways, black Converse and dress, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM in second trimester.

Wear and Tear: Rebecca Minkoff MAM Bag

What I wore:

black tee and jeans together with blue accessories and bright red cardigan MAM bag | awayfromblue

red waterfall cardigan with grey rebecca minkoff mam mini mab bag | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in scarlett marle
Necklace: thrifted Eb&Ive turquoise wooden bead multi strand statement necklace
Tee: thrifted black and white space dye peplum tee
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

I deliberately picked bright pieces to add to this outfit! The space dye peplum tee was just different enough from the plain black Nobody denim skinny jeans for me to try the two together, but it all felt a bit muted. I added the blue Converse and turquoise beaded necklace for a little more colour. And the cosy red waterfall cardigan to ensure that my son didn't miss me in the crowd as I surprised him at his award ceremony at school.

This red waterfall cardigan is soo cosy though, and just like the day above, I regretted deciding to wear it a little in the afternoon and was overheating a bit in the hall, although I'd been perfectly cosy working from home. The day just heated up more than I expected! It did work for my son to spot me though, and the cardigan was easy to take off after, with the necklace and blue Converse shoes adding enough colour that I didn't feel too dull without the cardigan!

Last worn: red waterfall cardiganturquoise beaded necklace, space dye peplum tee, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, blue Converse, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM (above).

Other ways to wearred waterfall cardigan and monochrome outfit, space dye peplum tee and red jeans, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and blazer, blue Converse and denim skirtRebecca Minkoff grey MAM worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyRebecca Minkoff grey MAM in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

It's easy to add colour to a pair of dark grey or black jeans with a bright cardigan - and its a good way to layer up for cooler autumn mornings and evenings. A cardigan is easy to discard when the day warms up too, and folds up nicely into a big bag like the Rebecca Minkoff MAM.

Striped Tees, Skinny Jeans and Balenciaga Day Bags

In the very last days of April it finally started to feel a little bit like autumn in Brisbane, which meant I could get my jeans out again! Wore them with the classic striped tee and Converse combination. Pulled out my Balenciaga Day bags again too - both hadn't been worn yet this year, surprisingly!

What I wore:

thrifted coca cola striped tee skinny jeans converse and balenciaga tempete day bag | awayfromblue

striped tee with Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete | awayfromtheblue

Tee: thrifted navy stripe Coca-Cola logo tee
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans (opshop find)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

Wanted a nice comfortable outfit for the usual school run and working from home routine. With it being a little cooler that morning, it was the perfect opportunity to get these jeans out! I found them at the opshop late last year, for just $1. Being my size I wasn't going to turn them down, and I was so happy when I tried them on and they fit like a glove! Although the style branding on it doesn't indicate that they are a cropped style I suspect they may have been hemmed, as they are a great length on my petite self!

The tee was a $1 find from another opshop too - both pieces are perfect together. I think the faded black of the denim works nicely with the navy stripes on the tee, and I can't believe it's been so long since I last wore this Balenciaga day bag, it is a firm favourite. Even though I really didn't need to carry much as I was just working from home and only popped out for the school run, it was nice to get this big bag out again.

Last worn: Coca-Cola tee, Converse, Balenciaga tempete day bag. First time it's been cool enough to wear these jeans I thrifted last year.

Other ways to wearCoca-Cola tee and orange skirt, Converse and floral dress, Balenciaga tempete day bag and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester, Balenciaga tempete day bag in third trimester.

Favourite Balenciaga Bag In My Handbag Collection:

Why I wore it:

A lazy long weekend meant falling back to that classic striped tee and skinny jeans combo again! I wore another navy and white striped tee - I do have quite a striped tee collection. While these charcoal jeans are a lot more grey than the skinnies in the first outfit, I again liked the navy stripes with the darker denim. I thought the magenta accessories with the Balenciaga day bag and matchy-matchy magenta and gold necklace were a fun pop against the neutrals in my outfit.

We had a couple of errands to run, but otherwise a very lazy day. Did stop into Kmart on the way home to pick up some organisation pieces - I've been inspired by watching The Home Edit on Netflix and Kmart have a good range of little clear containers like you see on the show. Howard's Storage World has the official The Home Edit range here in Australia, but my budget nowadays is more Kmart! 😂

Last worn: navy white striped tee, gold and marble necklace, grey Nobody Denim jeans, Converse (above), Balenciaga magenta day bag.

Other ways to wearnavy white striped tee and maxi skirt, grey Nobody Denim jeans worn two ways, Converse and denim skirt, Balenciaga magenta day bag and printed dress.

How You Can Wear It:

You can't beat a striped tee and jeans! You can add a little extra colour with a big handbag like these Balenciaga day bags.

Floral Kimonos, Purple Tees, Skirts, Chloe Paraty

Skirts and printed kimonos for spring, with my small Chloe Paraty bag and two very different outfit colour schemes with purple tees.

What I wore:

Jacket: Target Karolina summer kimono in purple black floral
Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
SkirtNobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

Crazy weather on this day! There was a minor tornado at Brisbane airport. I'd been rushing around a bit that morning trying to get my son ready for school when I looked out the window and saw the previously grey sky you can see in the pic was turning a very dark scary grey. We were already running a bit late for school, but seeing that made us all move a little faster! Lucky the rain wasn't too heavy so I didn't get too wet dropping him off. I was back home just a few minutes before the storm hit and the rain really started coming down! (And it didn't turn into a tornado until after it passed us thankfully).

My youngest and I spent most of the morning at home sitting around waiting for the storm to pass enough for us to get out to the library and the grocery store. Although the rain stopped by the time we left the house, the playground was out of the question as the sky still looked pretty dark. It was a quick couple of stops then back home until school pick up in the afternoon, when I found out the storm had resulted in a tornado and I felt a little bad for driving when we could still hear the rumbles of thunder! Spring storms are normal in Brisbane, tornados not so much!

Despite the crazy weather day, I did like this outfit. With the black denim skirt the kimono was just the perfect topper and the dark floral print works so well with the lilac tee, even though the shades are different. It's not the first time I've tired this tee and kimono combination either, I really like it! The periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag complimented the different shades of purple nicely. Blue and purple are so good together.

Last worn: black floral print kimono, lilac tee, beaded necklace, distressed denim skirt, Converse, Chloe Paraty bag.

Other ways to wearblack floral print kimono and pink shorts, lilac tee and printed culottes, distressed denim skirt and grey tee, Converse and maxi skirt, Chloe Paraty bag and maxi skirt.

How To Adjust The Chloe Paraty Strap:

What I wore:

floral kimono with burgundy tee and rust ruffle skirt with chloe periwinkle paraty bag | awayfromtheblue

Chloe periwinkle small Paraty with burgundy and rust outfit | awayfromtheblue

JacketSomedays Lovin' Yakuza print kimono

Skirt: thrifted no label rust ruffle tiered skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

This kimono had popped up in my Instagram memories and I realised it was very overdue another wear! With the rust in the print, this cute rust ruffle skirt was an obvious pairing with it. The purple in the print gave me the idea of trying this deep wine tee with it too. I've enjoyed wearing burgundy with this rust skirt before, and although this tee is more purple-y than a true burgundy, I liked the combo. I've worn this tee with the kimono before too! I went with the periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag based on the blue in the print of the kimono as well, even though, like the purple, it's a different shade.

It was a really hot and humid day and we had a playdate at the park in the morning, so I probably didn't really need the kimono. The sleeves on the tee are long enough for shoulder coverage. I decided still to wear it that morning because I felt it pulled the outfit together well with all the different colours being in the print. While I love the colours and liked the outfit in the morning, looking at the photos after I think maybe the pieces didn't look as great together as I thought - good colour combinations to try, but not the best pieces to do it with.

After heading home for lunch and cooling off in the aircon for a bit, we headed out again to enjoy a local carnival in the afternoon, before the severe storms blew in. Again we were luckily safely home again that evening before the storm hit.

How You can Wear It:

Floral kimonos are a great addition to your wardrobe! If you're not sure what to wear with them, you can get inspiration from the colours in the print. The pieces you pick don't even have to match the colours of the print exactly, neither of these outfits are perfect matchy-matchy ones, the colours are just similar.

Two Ways To Wear: Nobody Denim Charcoal Jeans With Chloe Mini Paddington Bag

Despite having reduced the number of sale emails I get after I overhauled my fashion shopping habits with 6 months without shopping, I do still get and click through on some sale emails. That's how I found these amazing Nobody Denim jeans at just $97, instead of the full $239 retail price. Nobody Denim is an Australian made ethical and sustainable jeans brand so I have been wanting to add more of it to my wardrobe.

Full price is a bit exxy but at over $140 off I could definitely justify the cost! As Stella McCartney says in Fashionopolis, "if you can’t afford it the first time around, get it in the sale. Get it in the sale of the sale of the sale. Get it secondhand... buy fewer things that will last longer".

Here's two ways I've recently worn these jeans for spring.

What I wore:

JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagChloe small Paddington in 2006 blanc

Why I wore it:

This was a strange day weather-wise! It was a cooler morning which quickly turned into a humid day but then a cold afternoon and evening when the storm blew in. I figured jeans and a tank were a safe choice but I probably should have added a cover-up to this for the cooler parts of the day.

After the school run I had some quick errands (and more Christmas presents to pick up, so thankful for click and collect!), sports for the little one, a playdate, and then school pickup in the afternoon before sports again for both boys in the evening. Luckily the storm hit right after we got home from school pickup and was a lot less severe when we went out for sports after dinner.

This swing tank is such a fun one, I don't know why I don't wear it more! It was perfect with the high waisted jeans, and I wore another of my October purchases with it, this cute Chloe mini Paddington bag that was a second hand market bargain. It seemed like a bit of a dressy outfit with all these pieces together so I went with ballet flats instead of my usual Converse which I thought might have been too casual.

Last worn: Aztec print swing tank, tassel necklace, ballet flats. First time I've worn the jeans and Chloe mini Paddington as they are recent purchases.

BagChloe small Paddington in 2006 blanc

Why I wore it:

Again I paired this cute little cream Paddington bag with these grey skinny jeans. I waterproofed the bag as I usually do with all my bags, so I'm not worried about colour transfer from the denim.

This was a tricky day to dress for as once the kids were off to school I had an all day long conference for work that required me to be on camera for most of it. I wanted to be comfortable but look kind of professional too. I figured a day sitting at my desk was good to make sure these jeans were as comfortable as my other black Nobody Denim pair, and they certainly were!

With the gold hardware on the Paddington, I went with this gold beaded necklace. Even if it wasn't seen on the conference it was a combo seen when I briefly ventured out! Like the bag, the Converse were an outdoor only piece too. They grey cardigan kept me cosy for a rainy day and the bright coral tank with the brushstroke stripes added a little interest to my outfit for showcasing on that little video rectangle. Last time I wore this tank I wore it with a Paddington bag too!

Last worn: grey cardigan, brushstroke stripe tank, beaded necklace, charcoal grey jeans (above), Converse, Chloe mini Paddington bag (above).

Other ways to weargrey cardigan and flared jeans, brushstroke stripe tank and maxi skirt, Converse and dress.

How You Can Wear It:

Grey skinny jeans are a staple that go with anything! But you can't go past the simplicity of the "jeans and a nice top" staple outfit formula loved by so many. Printed tanks are a nice way to add a bit of colour to the grey jeans.
