What I wore:
Necklace: silver heart long pendant necklace
Tee: Sass and Bide 'New Day Rising' tee in orange leopard print
Jeans: Nobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue
Why I wore it:
I feel this outfit looks quite unimpressive in the pics but I really loved it! I'm not sure why I don't wear this neon orange leopard print tee more often, it's just so fun! And I felt it really popped with all the black, but that the leopard print stopped it looking like a Halloween-y combination.Despite my frown in the photos (the sun came out from behind the clouds just as I started clicking and I pulled this face in every photo!) I was really happy and comfortable in this most of the morning, until the wind picked up and I started to feel the cold, even after unbuttoning and rolling down the sleeves on this jacket. I was regretting not wearing a jacket or thicker cardigan by then. Thankfully we only had a couple hours at the park before heading off to do a free craft activity with the kids in a shopping centre where I was back to appreciating this light jacket again, and rolling up the sleeves! Definitely swapped out the jacket for sitting on the sidelines at sports that evening though for something a little warmer.
For simplicity and for ease walking around the park and playground I wore my Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack - it fits hats and water bottles and snacks for us all easily.

Why I wore it:
As you can see from the pics, this was quite a breezy day! I was glad I'd worn a cardigan on this day! Again it ended up being an orange and black combination, with the chevron print jeans and this peach tee I scored from my sister's wardrobe clear out. I liked this outfit, but looking at the photos I'm not sure the tee is the best colour on me. I'll keep it around and try it out in a few more outfits before I decide.Wore the Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack again as we had a little hike with the kids around a local trail, and this was the most comfortable way to carry all our snacks and water bottles. Our plan for the day was to get out early, so we could be back home before the predicted rain set in for the next few days. Thankfully the rain never turned up but it made me feel a little bad we hadn't planned more things to do outdoors for the day. The kids were happy at home playing board games in the afternoon though.

How You Can Wear It:
Orange and black isn't just a Halloween colour combination! Try adding some prints, greys, or a bright accessory in a contrasting colour like I have with this bright blue backpack to make it suitable for other days of the year.
Amazing style
ReplyDeleteGreat tip for wearing orange and black year round! I really like that first outfit with your top! SO cute!
ReplyDeleteThat backpack is lovely - such a gorgeous colour (I love that shade of blue).

It's a great bright blue that does with so much!
DeleteI love the orange and blue colour combination and the first orange leopard print tee is so cute!

Oh vry comfy style darling
ReplyDeleteI love the first outfit; black is black, a classic color that goes well with everything and becomes nearly everyone. The tee is both delicate and offering a sharp contrast to the black frame.
ReplyDeleteIn the second outfit I like how the grey color of the cardi matches the grey in the pants' lines.
So true, black is a wonderful neutral for everyone! And I like that matchy-matchy too :)
DeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteNice bag, this color is awesome *-*
thanks for sharing
Have a nice day ♥
I love the colour combo in the first outfit - that top is so cute, and adding the blue backpack keeps this out of Hallowe'en territory. If that is your frown, then I can't even imagine you looking angry!
ReplyDeleteI think the soft peach plus the soft grey is a lovely combination, but maybe is a little too soft for you - I feel like you need a more saturated colour. Maybe a vibrant scarf in blue/orange to pick up the bag and intensify the peach?
Glad you are getting out and about, Mica! I love seeing your springy outfits as we head into fall here.
I like the scarf idea! I think I do better in brights than pastels too, hoping I can get more wear from this!
DeleteI can see why you don't like the peach shirt in the last outfit. In the picture it kind of washes you out. I would try layering something under it next time and see how that looks.

Yes I think I need a brighter colour, I'll try it a little more and see how it works!
Deleteomg i love your outfit!!!

I do think the first outfit does look impressive. I'm loving the pop of neon orange against the bold black of your skinnies and jacket. From your two outfits, this is my favourite, as I'm not a fan of the paler colours of the second one. I think the chevron patterned jeans would look amazing with the tee of the first outfit! xxx
ReplyDeleteI have mixed success with print mixing with the chevron jeans but I agree the neon orange would work so well!
DeleteI love your honesty in what you think of your items. I think that is so important. Because you always see some who just don't say it like it is. I loved your photos. Hope you are having a great week. I just celebrated my birthday yesterday and that was fun.

Thanks! Not afraid to share my thoughts, I made a rule with this blog that if I manage to photograph it I'll share it even if I don't like the photos much, haha! Otherwise nothing would ever be "good enough" to post!
DeleteI love orange for me personally. If you like the color, you should wear it.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing my dear! Perfect outfit!
ReplyDeletePaper scissor grey wrap cardigan with beautiful blue bag looks great. This one fits you very well. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you paired the orange and black in these outfits Mica. Many times I stay away from these two colors because of Halloween,

ReplyDeleteI can relate to windy days and how they can change the whole tone of your mood. Either way, the thing that caught my eye was your heart necklace. Goes well with the outfit.

ReplyDeleteGreat tip for wearing orange and black year round! I really like that first outfit with your top! SO cute!
ReplyDeleteI love orange and black together when it doesn't look Halloween-y. You've definitely accomplished that! The cute blue backpack is a great pop of unexpected color!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I was definitely aiming for not making them Halloween-y! :)

I love the first outfit. The contrast between the dark colours of the jeans and the jacket and the bright t-shirt is just lovely. I need to get a cardigan like yours, although it might be a bit too cold for something like this in the next few months.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm lucky this cardigan is perfect for spring and autumn here but I usually like full-length sleeves in the middle of winter!
DeleteLove that shade of blue! Hope you have a great week! xx

ReplyDeleteBoth outfits look amazing Mica! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI love both that jacket and that cardigan, those are such great layering pieces! You're right, that orange print top is so cute too! The hike sounds fun, and that's great you didn't get rained on.
ReplyDeleteYes we got so lucky it didn't rain! :)
DeleteOrange is a beautiful color on you in both looks, Mica! I think the first look is very flattering and pretty! Hope you had a great weekend and happy new week! We enjoyed the fall weather here and took some blog pics. I try to get my blog pics in before it gets too cold. ;-)

Oh that's clever! I take outfit pics as I wear the outfits each day so sometimes I'm feeling very cold if it's winter, haha!
