What I wore:
Tee: Kisschasy blue tape band tee
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
Shoes: thrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag
Why I wore it:
This was a causal outfit for a fun playdate at the park. Took my youngest along so he could meet some of his future classmates, as he starts school next year! Time is flying by. It was really nice that there were some other Kindy mums and a few of his Kindy friends there, hopefully they will all be in the same class at school for Prep. Wanted to be comfortable so I went with this long ochre maxi skirt. The kind of piece that was perfect for chatting with the other parents while also running around in the playground at times with my son.Because I love orange and blue together, decided to give this old Kisschasy band tee another wear. It made me feel a little old though, when my son pointed out that what is rather obvious to me cassette tape wheels looked like car tires. 😂 Just obsolete technology! Unfortunately his interest in the tee and a little bit of shyness at all the new friends meant I ended up covered in strawberry stains and ended up having to get changed before our BBQ that evening.
Couldn't resist going a little matchy-matchy with the blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag with this too, and I was pleased I'd picked the Adidas Superstar sneakers to wear as they were really comfortable.
Last worn: Kisschasy cassette tape band tee, ochre maxi skirt, Adidas Superstar sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: Kisschasy cassette tape band tee and printed skirt, ochre maxi skirt and winter layers, Adidas Superstar sneakers and floral dress, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC and blue dress.
My Rebecca Minkoff Handbag Collection
What I wore:
Skirt: thrifted no label rust ruffle tiered skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag in burgundy
Why I wore it:
How cute is this skirt? It was just $1 at the opshop so I couldn't say no, even though it's such a similar colour to the maxi skirt above. Such a good thrift find. Paired with a little crossbody bag, Converse and another Kisschasy band tee, it did feel a little like an outfit teenage me would have worn. But I loved it! The ruffles on this skirt made me happy for a quiet day with the school run, a couple errands, and a trip to the library. This Kisschasy band tee was from their 2008 Bones and Skin tour, when my sister got injured during the gig and we ended up watching the rest from the TVs at the side of the bar getting basic first aid and then spending the night at hospital. Definitely an eventful show! I'd bought the tee before the show started and was wearing it in the hospital where the doctor already figured out where we had been from my tee as she loved the song too! It definitely fits a little tighter now 13 years later than it did pre-babies and in my teen years so I'm not sure I'll wear this again. It's gone back into my big box of various band tees (I used to buy one from every gig) as a memento instead, as that was definitely a night to remember!
The skirt is definitely staying in my regular wardrobe rotation though - adorable with Converse and I like the burnt orange with the burgundy Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag.
Last worn: Kisschasy Bones and Skin band tee, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody. First time I've worn the rust ruffle skirt as it was a recent opshop find.
Other ways to wear: Kisschasy Bones and Skin band tee and gold jeans, Converse and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody and little black dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester.
How You Can Wear It:
Band tees are a wardrobe essential for many - they look great with jeans, but it's easy to mix it up a little and try them with a skirt instead - maxi or mini.
Great collection
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you collected band tees, that is such a great memory for sure.
ReplyDeleteYes I used to go to a handful of gigs when I was in uni - I don't fit into all the tees now though sadly, but I have a box I keep them all in!
DeleteGreat outfits! Thanks for the inspo :)

Very fun outfits. I love the first look with the ochre maxi skirt and blue t-shirt and bag. Yellow and orange is always fabulous matched with blue. I love to see these colours together. Plus, this outfit looks very comfy, perfect for being out and about with your younger son. He is starting school soon! Time flies.
ReplyDeleteI love your second outfit with the mini ruffled skirt and band t-shirt. It sounds like the night you bought it was a night to remember indeed. Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteIt is the cutest skirt! I'm so glad I scored it at the opshop!
DeleteBoth skirts are the most gorgeous orange colour, not too bright and not too dark. My favourite is the first one, I do love a good long skirt (sadly my mini skirt days are long behind me!) :)

That shorter, ruffled skirt is so cute! I don't think I have ever thought to pair an orange tone with blue but they do look good together.
ReplyDeleteThey are a fun combo! I need to wear it more often, but should be easy as I've been adding a lot of orange to my wardrobe lately, haha!
DeleteI loved first picture:) thanks for your sharing...

I am also a fan of the blue and orange combo. I like orange and purple, too, but that's very dependent on the shades of the colors.

ReplyDeleteCute looks!
ReplyDeleteI like colors of your skirts so much. It is perfect color for Fall and one of my favorite for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteOrange is definitely not my color, but these skirts are a caramel shade ... Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou are in Spring(not hot yet), we are in Autumn(not really cold yet). These two seasons call for light, yet comfortable outfits.
ReplyDeleteA light maxi skirt with a short sleeved tee - that's a good combination.
I like your 'memento' tee in your second outfit with the cute, ruffled mini skirt.
Yes it's interesting how the spring and autumn seasons overlap! :)
DeleteI love that skirt! It looks so floaty! I hope you had a lovely weekend!

What great memories from that band tee Mica. I sometimes like having tighter shirts for when I'm layering under other things. Of course, you don't have to layer as much as we do, but you just never know!!

good idea although the print may make it hard to layer! It might work under a dress?
DeleteThis burgundy handbag is really cute 😍😍 Regards!!
ReplyDeleteI love the burnt orange color. So pretty for the transition into spring! Hope you guys are enjoying a wonderful weekend!

Never get rid of your band tees, Mica! I love having ones that are really old. I love both casual outfits, with the short skirt one my favourite. Cassettes are being manufactured again, if you want to feel really old!! They are cool with the young generation, whose parents had them - bands are actually putting out albums on cassette again! What a great story on that second tee! I hope you had a fabulous weekend, my dear friend.
ReplyDeletethat's awesome cassettes are being made again! Fond memories of using them to make mix tapes, haha! I definitely won't get rid of the tee, it's now just in a big box with my other band tees instead of being in my regular wardrobe :)
DeleteLooking great, Mica.
ReplyDeleteThe skirts are chic ♥

The skirts are very different despite the similar color, and for the price, I can see why you bought both! I especially like the blue + orange color combination, but both outfits are really cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that long orange skirt. You have such great thrift stores, mine where I live are very limited. The entire outfit was cute.
ReplyDeleteIris
I'm lucky there are a few ones near me always worth a browse! :)
DeleteThanks all for your lovely comments :)
ReplyDeleteGot to love a good band tee.
