What I wore:
Necklace: thrifted cream and navy statement flat bead necklace
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue
Why I wore it:
Wore this on a particularly hot and humid day! We tried to head out early to explore a local bike trail - and with things getting a bit safer with less virus cases around in Queensland I let the kids enjoy the playground along the trail too. We haven't been visiting playgrounds as much as we used to, although they have been open for a long time here. People don't social distance and they can be a bit crowded so I prefer staying away - but the boys enjoyed visiting this old favourite playground again for something different, even if I was constantly getting out the hand sanitiser!Didn't stay as long as I'd hoped as it was a really hot day, but the kids had fun for a little while.
I expected to spend more time in the playground and less walking along the trail, so I wore my Converse as I didn't need as much support for my knee. I'd thought of wearing this purple tee with the printed kimono when I spotted it in the opshop, even though the print on the kimono is magenta, I thought the purple tee went really nicely with it!
The Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack is always a good choice on days out with the kids as it holds water bottles and snacks well.
Last worn: flat statement necklace, purple v-neck tee, distressed denim shorts, white Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Julian bag. First time I've worn the kimono as it was a recent purchase.
Other ways to wear: purple v-neck tee and maxi skirt, distressed denim shorts and foil print tee, white Converse and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff Julian bag and green pants.
Perfect for pregnancy: purple v-neck tee in second trimester, white Converse in second trimester.
What's In By Bag & Review: Rebecca Minkoff Julian Nylon Backpack
What I wore:
Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Tee: Atmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue
Why I wore it:
This tee is kind of between burgundy and purple - it's official colour name is wine but I thought it looked burgundy enough to pair with this red printed kimono, for something just a shade different. it ended up looking significantly different when worn side by side, but I liked the combination enough to give it a go!Headed out with hubby to go check out bikes with the boys, something we want to buy as a Christmas present but the stock shortages around Australia make that tricky! It was a bit of an unsuccessful shopping trip, so to rescue the day we headed out in the afternoon after it cooled down a little for a walk around a local trail. I'd swapped my Converse I'd worn in the morning to my daggy but much more supportive sneakers, I really need them for this longer trail.
I'd been looking around for a good spot to take a pic when we came across the red flowers on this tree, the perfect location, as it matched the kimono so well! This was a really comfortable outfit for the weekend.
Last worn: red printed kimono, navy and gold beaded necklace, wine v-neck tee, Bermuda denim shorts, Converse (above), Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack (above).
Other ways to wear: red printed kimono and little black dress, wine v-neck tee over a maxi dress, Bermuda denim shorts worn 30 ways, Converse and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack and dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: red printed kimono in third trimester, wine v-neck tee in second trimester, Converse in second trimester.
How You Can Wear It:
Shorts and tee is a staple outfit for a hot day - and you can add a little more interest to your outfit with a fun printed kimono. Even if the colours in the print don't match the tee you are wearing!
The kimonos add a great touch of color.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good shot near the trees! These outfits are both great examples of "it doesn't have to match; it just has to GO". Well done on picking coloured tees that "go" so tonally well with these multicolour kimonos. Fabulous, Mica!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you were able to get out and enjoy the old playground with the boys. Bummer about your shoes (Cons do make more supportive versions for the oldsters now, ha). Have you thought about buying an insert for them? You can usually pick those up in drugstores.
Have a great day, my dear!
Thanks Sheila! It's nice to try something other than matchy matchy! :) I think even with an insert I'd have issues - working on improving my knee strength so I can wear more than just running shoes!
DeleteThe purple colour looks gorgeous on you and I love how you styled the tee with the kimonos!

It is so nice that the weather is warm again and you can wear shorts! (I am very jealous!) I absolutely adore that first kimono. The print is so beautiful and dynamic!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Being a fan of purple, I'm loving both of your tees and the outfits you built around them. Your first outfit is very Spring-like, with its lighter and softer colours. I love the mix of colours in the kimono, and even if the tee's colour is no perfect match, it is still a happy marriage! The colour of your second tee, whatever its colour name, is making my heart sing. I would wear it in a heartbeat in our Autumnal weather. I love the red blossomed bush in the background. It's good to hear virus cases are going down where you are, enabling you to let your boys enjoy the playground. Wishing you a good Friday and lovely weekend, Mica xxx
ReplyDeleteYes the kids are loving getting back to the playground!
DeleteI love both outfits! Purple is such a pretty color and it looks great on you.

I have that exact same kimono in your first outfit and I'm trying to remember where I got it, I think it came in a subscription box I used to subscribe to. I love it paired with the purple top and that fun statement necklace.

That's awesome you have the same one! This one has no labels at all so I have no idea where it came from but it was a great thrift find! :)
DeleteI love how both shirts are different shades than the colors in the kimono...it goes to show that the colors don't have to match, but just have to go together.
ReplyDeleteLove that!!

This was our year to get every one a bike! Now we are hoping our neighbor's bike rack will work out: will save us a lot vs buying new.

Oh good luck with the bike search! It was painful but we found one in the end, phew!
DeleteThe purple tops are super cute with the shorts for sure, Mica:) We're heading into winter here now so no more shorts for us....sigh...although it is warm today here which is really weird. BTW love that Julian backpack!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome weekend:)
Oh man, I'm missing spring after seeing this post! I love both of your outfits, Mica. I'm especially loving your necklace in the first outfit! I'm sorry to hear about the bike shopping experience. We have so many random shortages of exercise equipment and outdoor sporting goods too - it's such a bizarre time. I hope you find one soon!
ReplyDeleteyes I'm glad we were able to track one down closer to Christmas!
DeleteYour kimono looks good on you and that blue bag is vibrant and stand out. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sharing 😊 have a lovely day 😊
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfits with purple tees dear. I really like how you styled your tees on both occasions. I like how that first purple tee looks worn with shorts and that geometric print kimono. Such a pretty bag as well. The second outfit with the wine tee and a colourful kimono is very pretty as well. Nice that you were able to take a photo next to the tree whose flowers match it in colour. You look very fresh!
ReplyDeleteYou make me want more kimonos! That hand sanitiser attached to the bag is such a good idea, I should look into getting one but I've not seen any over here!

ReplyDeleteYou look very nice ;)
ReplyDeleteYou suit kimonos, Mica. You look great in them. I don't think that they suit everyone, meaning me.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you just haven't found the right kimono yet! :)
DeleteLooking so cute in these dream-like kimonos, utterly gorgeous :) I adore the purple hue, it works so prettily alongside the patterns! The bright blue is so stunning amid all the other lovely jewel tones ♥︎
ReplyDeleteSo happy your boys enjoyed the playground and you're getting some nice spring days! Wishing you many more to come! :)

ReplyDeleteHi again Micca,
ReplyDeleteSo good that you had the chance to explore and go out for a few hours! You picked the right outfit, fashionable but comfortable. As usual the kimonos are the protagonist of your looks, but I have to say I fell in love with the Rebecca Minkoff blue backpack, it is great and it has the perfect size to go and explore the city or the countryside.... I also liked the detail of the hand sanitizer, good for you and for the kids!
Here is getting pretty cold and sun is saying goodbye at 4 o clock, so enjoy these hot days and don't forget to keep safe :)
