What I wore:
Necklace: Colette marble and gold pendant drop long necklace
Dress: Jeanswest deep pink ruffle neckline dress
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bag: Balenciaga first bag in 2006 Blue India
Why I wore it:
This was my last office outfit before things started changing in Australia. At the end of the day I'd packed up my desk and said farewell to my colleagues, reminding them I'd not be in next week as I had a training course, but that I'd be in the next again week. During the week of training there were a lot of massive changes in Australia and at work, and I've not been back in the office since.I've been working from home for a few weeks now and I'm missing outfits like this - the simplicity of a cute dress and a blazer to dress it up a little for a business environment. I really like this berry dress. Even though it looks red in every picture, it's such a fun dress to wear and I thought the turquoise Balenciaga first bag really popped with it. As the dress and bag were bold I went for neutral accessories with the grey blazer and the tan ballet flats.
Of course now my blazers are hanging unworn in my wardrobe (and I even have a recently purchased one that I've not been able to wear yet) while I work from home and only make trips out for the essentials.
Last worn: grey jersey blazer, berry ruffle dress, marble necklace, camel ballet flats, Balenciaga first bag.
Other ways to wear: grey jersey blazer and printed dress, berry ruffle dress and jacquard jacket, camel ballet flats and jeans, Balenciaga first bag and maxi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: camel ballet flats in third trimester.
Balenciaga Bag Reveal: Turquoise First Bag
What I wore:
Dress: All About Eve striped black tee dress
Shoes: New Balance white and blue sneakers
Bag: Balenciaga first bag in 2006 Blue India
Why I wore it:
This is a much more casual dress outfit. Unlike the first outfit where I was trying to dress up a bit for the office, I dressed down for this outing to the grocery store. I'd picked this fun striped tee dress as it is an easy instant outfit, and easy to remove as soon as I got home, to avoid bringing germs into the house. The New Balance sneakers actually went really well with this dress to create a sporty outfit! I'd been trying to ease back into normal shoes again but with being unable to travel to my physio safely my knee pain requires me to keep things simple and supportive, so it's back to these shoes. Having them as my outdoor shoe makes it easier to prevent germ spread on the shoe rack too, if I'm just wearing these! It's funny the things we think about now!
The Balenciaga first bag was a fun pop with the black and white dress, and I picked this bag to wear again as I'd worn it on a previous outing - again trying to minimise what items I take outside. I did notice that I kept going to play with this necklace as I walked around the nearly empty shelves at the supermarket, so I'm now doing a no necklace policy when I do venture out. 😂
It's probably a little overkill all of these changes, especially when I didn't even think about these things a few weeks ago back when I was still in the office, but I'm just doing what I can to keep us and the kids as safe as possible.
Last worn: striped tee dress, clay necklace, New Balance sneakers, Balenciaga turquoise first bag (above).
Other ways to wear: striped tee dress and purple bag, Balenciaga turquoise first bag and maxi skirt.

It's hard to grasp how much things have changed in the space of just a couple of weeks! I only have to go in to work 2 days now, and being partially unemployed is scary as well as liberating! I'm still getting dressed up, though. Your outfits are very different indeed. I love the berry dress, that's such a fun item, and it pair so well with the grey jersey blazer and that gorgeous bag! Stay safe, Mica! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's nice you have your job still, although reduced hours, and that you are adjusting to your new normal!

DeleteThat red dress is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI like them both sooooo much! That berry color is stunning on you and it's making me wish for a chance to get all dressed up these days. It's sounds like we are all living a pretty similar life at the moment. Working from home, seeing only our immediate family and not going out to the stores without a purpose. I love the way you styled the little stripped dress for a shopping trip. I've been dressing up to go to the grocery store once a week or every 10 days too :)
ReplyDeleteYes dressing up for the grocery store was my only outings for a few weeks, haha!
DeleteThings have really changed over the past few weeks. The red dress and blazer combo is so pretty! I'm also loving how you styled your striped dress for a relaxed look! Stay safe and healthy!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
Your dress and sneakers is more than I can say I've gotten dressed these past couple weeks! It really is crazy how paranoid we've suddenly become about germs, grocery shopping has become a huge stressful ordeal, and I miss having a reason to actually get dressed.
ReplyDeleteIt is a strange experience grocery shopping now!
DeleteI love that red berry dress! There is just something about bright colors that lifts my spirit (says the woman wearing grey today, lol). I am on the lookout for a few bright tops.

Isn't it crazy how different things were just a few weeks ago?!? Sigh...anyhoo, both outfits look great:) Love that shade of the berry dress on you for sure, and the sneakers did go well with the dress. Sucks that you're unable to go for physio, but glad to know you are managing.

I love that "red" dress on you and the turquoise bag is a wonderful color to wear with it. And the T-shirt dress is really cute. I want to get one and just haven't done it yet. Because you CAN wear it with sneakers even if you aren't having knee problems. It is interesting how the way we look at everything has changed so much just in a few weeks. I wonder how easily we'll go back to normal after this? I know when I'm doing my speedwalking I watch people closely to be sure they're mindful of the 6-foot rule and it almost feels like I shouldn't look them in the eyes - LOL! I have to force myself to look at them and then smile. I've always thought that the advent of warm weather put an end to flu and other viruses like the flu but you guys are just getting into your cool weather now, so I guess it just has to run its course. I tried to join the linkup but it rejected both of my links when I went to get pictures from the web. I'll try doing something different to see if that helps. Stay healthy!

DeleteI love both the style of your dresses. They are both beautiful in their own different way. I have yet to try wearing my tshirt dress with my sneakers. I have the slip on shoes which is what I often wear mine with but have not paired them with sneakers so I need to try that! I hope you guys are doing well and happy Monday!

ReplyDeleteBlazers are a great option for the office! :)
DeleteOh, I stay already now nearly 4 weeks at home ... but I try to make the best of it. I like your last office look and it makes me smile that my last office look was also a dress (but my dress was pink with big red flowers).
