Weekday Wear Link Up: Turquoise Tanks With Purple Balenciaga Work Bag and Grey Pencil Skirts

Two incredibly similar outfits to share for today's Weekday Wear Link up! I love a good outfit formula and it's nice to follow the same basic structure for an outfit but change a few details. This time around I stuck with exactly the same formula instead of changing things up - turquoise tanks, grey skirts and my purple Balenciaga work bag. While I did pick different shoes and necklaces, the resulting outfits this time around are very similar, and I loved them both.

Why I wore it:

Another wearing of this new Jeanswest turquoise tank. I've worn it with jeans before for a kid's party but it works so well dressed up for the office with a pencil skirt. I picked this tank to wear as it's a longer tunic length, and I needed the extra length (and butt coverage!) for when I swapped my pencil skirt for leggings for my physio session. (After injuring my knee after Christmas I'm looking at regular physio sessions for a long time).

The viscose fabric of this tank creases like crazy, and it didn't look so good after a day of sitting at my desk, but I did like how it dressed up the jersey pencil skirt a little, especially as it was too hot to wear a blazer with this so I just wore a cardigan on top around the office.

I went matchy-matchy again with the accessories, silver shoes and silver necklace which matched the grey pencil skirt nicely, as well as the silver hardware on the purple Balenciaga work bag.

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the outfit above so much, I repeated it again with a different turquoise tank. This time around the grey pencil skirt was a more formal material and the tank was more casual. I did consider a blazer for this but it wasn't a meeting heavy day so knew the cardigan at my desk would be fine.

Matchy-matchy with the accessories again, with the black Walnut Melbourne ballet flats and another multi chain necklace, a black one this time. This is an oldie I found when setting up my new wardrobe, but it really annoyed me when I wore it this time so it's been donated. Kept wearing the purple Balenciaga work bag as it looks so good with turquoise.

Two Ways To Wear A Black Pencil Skirt: Weekday Wear Linkup

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm sharing two different ways to wear a black pencil skirt - for the office and for mum life.

This linkup post will be up a little longer than normal as I won't have my usual post on Wednesday as it will be Christmas day. I'll be back posting as usual on the 27th December with some boxing day sales.

Why I wore it:

I was a little annoyed with this outfit! I love the metallic tank for a subtle bit of shimmer and the tweed blazer dresses it up nicely and covers my shoulders for the office. The beaded statement necklace was a bit of matchy-matchy with the silver, white and turquoise beads. It got broken and hastily repaired out at dinner one night so it's now a strictly worn without the kids piece. But it went and broke on me while I was in a meeting. A virtual meeting at my desk thankfully but I was still a bit frustrated!

Even with the turquoise in the necklace I thought this outfit needed a little more colour so went with the purple Balenciaga work bag, and added even more interest with the leopard print flats. I did really like this outfit until the necklace annoyed me!

Why I wore it:

Rushed out of the office early to get home and changed before heading out with family for an important event. Decided to keep the outfit base the same, with the same metallic tank and black pencil skirt, but swapped the ballet flats for these studded sandals, and the blazer for a more casual kimono. It's not the first time I've worn this kimono with a pencil skirt, I enjoyed it last time I wore that combination too.

Swapped the accessories out for a more kid-friendly necklace, and a cute little red bag to add some extra colour to my outfit.

Simple and quick outfit for a night out with family, followed by dinner at our place before putting two very tired kids to bed very late!

Weekday Wear Linkup: Two Ways To Wear A Grey Skater Dress

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm showing you two ways to wear a simple grey skater dress, taking it from work to a night out by changing the accessories.

This neutral grey dress is a great staple in my wardrobe and really should be worn more! I packed it for our Europe trip and it reminded me I should get it out more often.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

Was feeling a bit uninspired with what to wear, knowing I had a busy day at work and then a night out in the evening. A dress is an easy outfit staple so I went with that, and this grey one is extremely comfortable. Kept it monochrome for a day in the office, wearing it with my black boucle jacket to dress up the casual tee fabric a little, the sparkly statement necklace worked well to do that too.

The big purple Balenciaga work bag adds a pop of colour. I find it so hard to do monochrome looks, I always sneak some colour in somewhere! I'm thrilled I got to wear the shoes again too, it's been a while since the last wearing and I've tried to wear them recently but the rainy forecast always made me change my mind, they were definitely overdue a wear and I'm pleased the weather cooperated this time!

And yes, I held the Balenciaga work bag backwards in every pic...obviously not properly awake that morning!

Why I wore it:

After the busy day at work I came home and quickly got changed to head out to dinner with some mum friends. I swapped the boucle blazer for this green floral duster. I love the bold burst of colour it adds to the neutral grey and I like the skater dress and duster combo - I've worn this skater dress with another duster before too.

The navy necklace and tassel earrings added more colour to the dress, and the tan boots are a neutral classic. It was a cooler spring evening and I was grateful I'd picked ankle boots to wear on the way home from the restaurant, kept me a little cosier. I didn't need to bring much as it was a kid-free dinner so wore my Amerii round straw cross body bag. Simple little outfit changes that had me ready and out the door quick enough to be on time for dinner, after giving the boys plenty of hugs!

I got ready so quickly I forgot to put on the bracelets I'd set aside, but I think the navy necklace and earrings were enough extra colour with the green kimono.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Blue Printed Dresses and Balenciaga Bags In The Office

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup, I'm sharing two blue printed dresses I wore to the office recently with some silver giant hardware Balenciaga bags.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

This floral swing dress is such a great piece to wear on a hot day, but this is the first time I've worn it to the office. With the longer 3/4 lengths sleeves and the long knee length hem, I think it's a good option for a business casual office like mine. The swing style makes it a little more casual so I added a blazer on top to make it a bit more professional. Kept the accessories simple too with the black ballet flats and the black Balenciaga part time bag.

The floral crystal necklace is one I picked up in my opshop haul as a possible accessory to wear to a glitter themed fashion show. I ended up wearing a thrifted glitter tank instead and so have just being waiting for an opportunity to wear this necklace. Delicate crystals seem a bit over the top for the playground and pointy edges aren't the best around the boys. The office was the perfect place to wear it and it goes with the floral print on the dress nicely I thought.

Why I wore it:

Unlike the swing dress above, this paisley print sheath dress is a frequently seen piece in the office. It's a go-to for me and a wardrobe oldie.See the first time I shared it on the blog back in 2012!

I'd actually planned another outfit to wear on this day, but the heatwave temperatures made me change my mind and so I wore this simple sheath dress instead.  It was a foggy start to the morning as you can see behind me, but warmed up to a super hot spring day. Accessorised with another thrifted necklace, this big gunmetal one was another option I bought at the opshop for the event I didn't end up using, but it also looks great worn to the office.

The purple Balenciaga work bag is often worn with this dress, I like blue and purple together!

Returning to the 30 wears series! I skipped it last month as I wasn't organised enough to plan it in advance with our Europe trip! I bought this bag at the end of my 6 month no shop challenge (that turned into an 7 months noshop in the end). While it was a bag from my bestie's wardrobe she no longer wanted, and so massively reduced off the retail price, it's still a Balenciaga so was a big splurge at $1,200. After 37 wears I'm still nowhere near the $1 a wear figure most people aim for. But as this bag is something I expect to be treasuring and loving for decades to come I'm sure I'll be reducing the cost per wear down nearer that figure over time!

There are a lot of different colour combinations you can try with a purple bag! I like wearing blue and purple together, so it's nice to wear a blue outfit and add a touch of colour with the purple bag. From deep navy to lighter and brighter blues, this raising purple Balenciaga work bag is great with so many different shades.

If you have followed along with my blog for a while, you will know I like a little bit of matchy-matchy! If I'm wearing a bold bag like this purple Balenciaga bag, I like to match it with a little bit of purple in my outfit. From the print of a dress, a big blanket scarf, a purple cami or tee, or even a subtle match with a purple necklace, it's a good way to make your outfit look more cohesive. And as you can see, the shades don't need to match exactly!

Another colour combo I love is purple and pink! These three outfits showcase beautifully how the purple Balenciaga work bag goes so nicely with pink - no matter the shade! I really like it with the pastel pink pencil skirt, but the hot pink necklace and pink printed tank are great combinations too.

These outfits put the points above together! While it's nice to add two colours to an outfit, I've grouped my favourite colour combos above to create pink, blue and purple outfits of 3 colours. Again with different shades and different levels of colour - with the big blush blazer and blue printed dress, to more subtle with the pink fern print on the black dress and cobalt scarf and purple bag. Nice and colourful - even in the middle of winter!

Purple Balenciaga Work Bag With Prints

A plain, block colour bag is an easy outfit option with a print. You don't need to worry about the prints clashing, you can pick a bold bright bag to compliment any print you're wearing (although as you can see I'm partial to wearing it with a blue print!).

Belted Blue Dresses With Purple Bags

Belting some of my favourite blue dresses with cardigans for two very different outfits - one I wore to work and one I wore casually.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a very busy day! I had to pop into the office for an important meeting in the morning and then I worked from home in the afternoon so I could be there for a tradie arriving and pick my son up from daycare early to take him to an appointment. Lots of travelling around!

As it was a cooler morning and our meeting rooms are always terribly cold I decided to belt this cardigan as I knew I'd have it on most of the day. It's not the first time I've worn this velvet belt with this dress, it's a combination I really like! I thought the black belt and ballet flats were good accessories with the monochromatic blue outfit or cardigan and dress together. The big purple Balenciaga work bag was needed to cart everything around and I really like the touch of colour it adds to the blue too.

Why I wore it:

I didn't like this outfit as much as the one above, although it follows a similar outfit formula with the belted cardigan, blue dress and purple bag. I had the day off, spending some time with my mum and so I'd planned this outfit out in my head thinking it would work nicely. The belt on the cardigan sat a little lower than the point I wanted to belt the dress though, which made me think it looked a little off. With no time to change I decided to wear it anyway, but I did think a few times during the day that I should have picked a different cardigan or tried the cardigan untied!

While the shades of purple on the mini MAB tote bag and the high top shoes don't match exactly I thought they were good compliments with the blush and blue printed dress. The mini MAB tote bag is one I've worn with the dress in the past, I really like the combination.
