With Brisbane's summer heart, shorts and a tank are a good way to dress. It's easy to add a little summer layer to them though for more colour, as I've done with each of the outfits below.
What I wore:
Jacket: Jeanswest Jamie printed kimono (on sale!)
Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklaceTank: Atmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
Shorts: Jeanswest Sara distressed hot short
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey
Why I wore it:
Wore this to go to an appointment in the morning. I wanted something easy to wear and it has been a while since I've worn these denim shorts. I was going to wear a different printed tank, but then I saw the kimono and realised that it would look great with stripes. Last time I wore this kimono I tried a little print mixing too. I liked this combination and felt that it looked good, but got a few side eyes when we went out for lunch so maybe it wasn't the best choice. I was happy in it though, and that's all that matters! Was a really comfortable outfit, with a very practical bag. I had to juggle the baby bag, my handbag and the toddlers, so I appreciated the cross body strap on my Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag as well as the fact that it held everything I needed in it.
Last worn: blue printed kimono, black striped tank, distressed denim shorts, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag.
Other ways to wear: blue printed kimono and printed shorts, black striped tank in winter, distressed denim shorts in 5 piece wardrobe capsule, Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag worn 30 wears.
Perfect for pregnancy: Rebecca Minkoff MAM and maternity pencil skirt.
What I wore:
Necklace: gifted Lovisa wooden statement bead necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Brianna basque hem tank
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts (on sale!)
Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey
Why I wore it:
Another appointment, going to see the specialist for a checkup for Baby Boy. As I liked the outfit I'd worn above the day before, I wore a similar outfit the next day. A plain black tank this time, with longer bermuda denim shorts and instead of a kimono I added the pink vest. I'd been thinking about wearing my pink blazer again, after seeing Lorna wearing hers so well, but it was a bit warm for that so I went with this pink vest instead.Again I wore my Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag, it's such a good bag with the boys as the cross body strap makes it so easy to wear. I added this fun wooden statement necklace I got for Christmas too, it looks nice against the plain black tank. As the specialist's office is full of toys I didn't have to worry about wearing a teething necklace to entertain the boys. It's nice to wear non-silicone necklaces sometimes!
Last worn: pink vest, black tank, bermuda denim shorts, studded sandals, Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini (above).
Other ways to wear: pink vest and printed jeans, black tank and printed shorts, bermuda denim shorts worn two ways, studded sandals and little black dress, Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini and blue dresses.
Perfect for pregnancy: studded sandals in third trimester, Rebecca Minkoff MAM and maternity jeans.
How You Can Wear It:
Add some colour to a denim shorts and tank outfit in summer with an extra layer. Kimonos and lightweight vests don't overheat you, but add a fun touch to your outfit.Linking up with Wardrobe Wednesday, What I Wore, Style On The Daily, Fashion Files, Fun Fashion, Weekend Wear, Flashback Fashion.

They are perfect for the summer heat here in Brisbane too! :)
DeleteI love the stripe tank with the blue kimono, in the first outfit. That necklace looks great with the outfit too. I love that sleeveless jacket in the second outfit and how the necklace and sandals complement each other! Great stylish looks for our summer. It's been so hot again this week in Brisbane: hope you're staying cool, Mica! ;) XXX

I love the print mixing in the first look--I think it totally works! Silly side-eyers. :) I also love everything about that second look. The vest is so fun, and I love how that cute necklace really ties in your sandals perfectly. LOVE!
ReplyDeletehaha thank you! I think it looks alright too :)
DeleteI love your breezy summer style. I think I've been ignoring my vests lately, and I should try and pull a few out, especially since I could always use an extra layer.

DeleteI love that bag! Seems so versatile and practical for carrying everything you could possibly need. Such great looks for summer. It's been about 20 degrees Fahrenheit here so it's gonna be a while until I can wear something like this haha.

I don't think I could every go back to bags without the cross body strap now that I have kids. They are just so practical!

Hi Mica! I hope you had a great Valentines Day! ..adding a third piece like your kimono or vest adds a special touch to the look. I also adore the handbag. It compliments both looks beautifully. You look cool, comfy and super cute!

You really inspire me, I always struggle with wearing my kimonos and what to wear under them. I really love the color of the sleeveless jacket in the 2nd outfit. That handbag does look like it'd be versatile and the color is great, since it works as a neutral.

They work so perfectly for summer, I love wearing my kimonos then! :)
DeleteAre you on holiday? I can tell you now, there's no way I can wear shorts in England at the moment. Although, I would love to devote my time somewhere nice and hot where your outfit above is my daily-go to. I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day😅
ReplyDelete#sweetreats xxx www.bakingboutiquebirds.blogspot.co.uk/
haha no, it's summer here in Brisbane, hence the title of my post ;)
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you, Mica! I promise myself I will get a kimono this year to go with my casual outfits. That said, it's like a never ending cold on my side, I don't even know what my legs look like anymore as I've been wearing long pants and socks for months now.
ReplyDeleteShireen⎜Reflection of Sanity
You deal with the cold so often! It's the opposite here with the heatwave, so kimonos come in handy! :)
DeleteLove the kimono and stripes! It pairs perfectly together and your RM bag is such a lovely bag. The color is beautiful and I love it when bags come with a cross body strap. It's such a life saver and so convenient! I hope you had a great Valentine's.
ReplyDeleteMaureen | www.littlemisscasual.com
Cross body straps are my favourite feature on bags right now!
DeleteThese are such pretty looks! Love how you kept it minimal & casual yet so feminine and chic! The kimono looks so wonderful on you and the peach pink outfit flatters you beautifully :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have an amazing weekend! :)

That is a great bag, a good size, not too big or too small and with the neutral color it goes with everything. I love a good Rebecca Minkoff bag.

We are headed to Arizona next month for vacation which is much warmer than here. Your posts keep giving tons of warm weather outfit inspiration! I love the coral vest! That bag is gorgeous too. I am always on the lookout for a neutral crossbody bag that still has the option of carrying it on your arm, too.
ReplyDeleteA bag you can carry multiple ways is such a good investment!
DeleteI love the colour of that bag, it really suits you :)
ReplyDeleteI'm honestly jealous of your heat wave! I don't even want to wear dresses because I have to wear tights or leggings with them to feel warm!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fun weekend!
haha you can have it, I'm really over the heat at the moment!
DeleteI LOVE how you paired neutral stripes with that gorgeous kimono! I need to tuck that idea away for my similar kimono that I only ever pair with black. I can’t believe you got side-eye for that lovely outfit! I will fight those people!! (I am not normally a ragey person but apparently this brings it out? Hahaha!)
ReplyDeletehaha thank you! I seem to continue to wear this kimono with stripes, so it didn't get to me too much! :)
DeleteI love that kimono with your short set Mica. What a beautiful combination!

ReplyDeleteI love a good roomy neutral bag! RM bags always hold up so well too, don't they?
