Tweed/Boucle Jackets Two Ways: Work And Weekend

Not one of my usual Monday Corporate Style outfit posts, instead I'm sharing one outfit I wore to the office and the other to work from home. Both featuring my Jeanswest boucle (or tweed) jackets, which I really like. I'm pleased to have something different to wear other than trench coats now that the spring weather has arrived and it's warmer in the mornings.

I thought I'd throw in my latest video as well that has some more office wear (8 different office outfit ideas to be exact) as well. Just in case you hadn't seen the news on instagram ;)

What I wore:

AwayFromBlue | Corporate Style Boucle Jacket cobalt blue top pencil skirt office wear

AwayFromBlue | Marc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown
NecklaceHouse of Harlow Dynamic necklace in gold
Tee: thrifted Dotti blue tee
SkirtJeanswest black ponte pencil skirt
Shoes:  Marc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

I had a busy day ahead in the office, so I dressed simply with a bright cobalt tee and a pencil skirt. I thought the jacket was a nice touch too, although I swapped it out for a cardigan when I got to my desk. I've mentioned before that the decorative zipper pulls on this jacket (that you can see in the pics) are lovely, but are not the best when trying to type quietly in an open plan office!

This cobalt blouson tee is another good option not in the video that hides a baby bump nicely in the office!

Last worn: jacquard jacket, cobalt blue tee, black pencil skirt, gold mouse flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag.

Other ways to wearjacquard jacket and skinny jeans, cobalt blue tee and a maxi skirt, pencil skirt layered over a dress, gold mouse flats and skinny jeans, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and a little red dress.

More tweed/boucle jackets under $100:

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Dinner Date Evening outfit skinny jeans tweed blazer polka dot cami red accessories

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
JacketJeanswest Dixie collarless jacket
Necklace: thrifted pearl and heart long necklace
CamiJeanswest 'Mia' cami in black
JeansJeanswest Bindi skinny 7/8 jeans in indigo luxe
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs suede flats in red
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

Why I wore it:

This is more of a weekend look with a boucle jacket! I wore this to work from home, and then go out with a friend for dinner in the evening. Just like last week, it's a little more dressed up than I'd normally be to work from home, but perfect for a night out.

We ended up staying quite a while at the restaurant - toddler T was so well behaved, and time flies when you're catching up with people!

Oh and if you're wondering how I'm still wearing my skinny jeans in the second trimester - I bought a belly band this time around! Didn't want to spill the beans too early by wearing my maternity jeans right away. ;)

Last worn: tweed jacket, polka dot cami, prima skinny jeans, red suede flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Other ways to weartweed jacket in the office (my favourite outfit with this jacket), polka dot cami with striped maxi skirt, prima skinny jeans in winter, red suede flats and a leopard print dress, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag and maxi dresses.

  2. Congratulations again Mica :-)

Love both top + jacket combinations, but yeah I can see why the zippers would be to clackety-clack when typing. Red is a neat color for the flats, they contrast nicely with the monochrome rest of the outfit. And I just realized, I barely wore my ballet flats this summer. Hah.

    Have a great week! :-)

  14. I loved your video. You've got some amazing styling tips! I too went for all the flowy, printed tops I could get my hands on. I made it 6 and a half months before people started to ask. haha. I've heard you get bigger faster with the second. Clearly I have yet to experience that, but you had mentioned being bigger this time around on Instagram.
I too wore a belly band with Penny and it was the best $20 ever! I never ever had to wear maternity jeans.

    1. Oh wow you did well! I only made it to 5 months with baby T. I was just pointing out to hubby that I'm probably about a month ahead size-wise compared to what I was with baby T. I wonder how big I'll be at the end, haha!
I am looking forward to wearing my maternity jeans when the Frocktober challenge is over. The belly band is good, but I miss the comfort of my maternity jeans :P

  16. I love both of those outfits. I especially like how you mixed the print and texture in the second outfit, even though they're the same colour. It looks good! I'd have dismissed the combo as too busy but shows how wrong I am. Also excellent work on the bump hiding. You're like a magician!

Now, about the outfits. Both of them are so cute! In the first one my fav thing is that royal blue top and in the second one I really like those red flats. Wonderful outfits!
