Blue V-Neck Tees, Denim Shorts, Navy Kimonos and Sorbet Pink Balenciaga City Bag

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup, more outfits for school holiday adventures with the kids! As we had warmer days back in April I kept it simple and fairly monochrome with blue tees and denim shorts, and blue printed kimonos. The sorbet Pink Balenciaga city bag added a little extra burst of colour with all the blue too.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace: Colette marble and gold pendant drop long necklace

Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet

Why I wore it:

This was a really fun day but required a lot of walking so I wore my comfortable New Balance sneakers to support my knee.

Wore the floral print duster for sun coverage but it was really hot and humid so I regretted it a little a couple times in the middle of the day when the heat was at the maximum. By the time we got to the beach in the afternoon though it was really breezy and I was glad I'd thrown it on top of my shorts and tee outfit.

With the baby blue tee and pale denim Bermuda shorts too the tropical floral print on the duster was a nice way to break up the monochrome look. As was the pink marble necklace and the sorbet Pink Balenciaga city bag. I was a little sad I'd chosen this bag in the afternoon though when one of the tassels snapped off, but it had been looking like it was about to fall off anyway. The bag is 11 years old so one snapped tassel isn't too bad!

ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue

BagBalenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet

Why I wore it:

This was a much darker monochrome outfit, with the navy tee and again blue denim shorts. These distressed boyfriend shorts were an opshop find and have quickly become a staple! Unlike the first outfit, the blue printed kimono added to the monochromatic look so I relied on accessories to break up the blue a little, like the blush tassel necklace and of course the sorbet pink Balenciaga city bag again. It just works so well with blue! Even kept the blue going with my cute little blue Converse Chucks. They were perfect as I didn't have too much walking to do.

Took the kids out to the playground in the morning to run off some of their energy and get them out the house - the problem for my hubby working from home during the school holidays is trying to work from home with the kids making a lot of noise! After the playground we picked up some new books at the library and then went shopping for a birthday present for an upcoming birthday before heading home for lunch.

How You Can Wear It:

A blue tee works so nicely with classic blue denim! To break up all that blue you can add some bright contrasting accessories like a pink bag, or a vibrant printed kimono to introduce more variety to your outfit.

Weekday Wear Link Up: Blue and Yellow Tanks, Denim Shorts and Kimono Outfits

Colourful blue and yellow outfits with denim shorts, tanks and kimonos for today's Weekday Wear Link Up. Both the blue and yellow tanks are the same style, I just had to buy it in two different colours when it went on sale 😅

What I wore:

navy floral print duster kimono with mustard yellow tank bermuda denim shorts and rebecca minkoff love too bag | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather | away from the blue

Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagRebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather

Why I wore it:

What a surprising day! Just as we pulled up to school they announced on the radio that Brisbane would be going into lockdown that night and it would be my son's last day of school for the term. There had been a couple of events and activities planned for the last week of school so that was a bit upsetting - but to be honest my son handled it better than I did! I kept remembering when this happened in 2020 and we went into lockdown to end the school term early and it turned into weeks at home and online learning...so glad it wasn't the case this year and the 3 day Brisbane lockdown was actually lifted early.

Thankfully my son's teacher still welcomed me to help out in his class room as normal, even if we did a few different things to help her cram a weeks worth of last week of term activities into one day instead of our regular helping with learning! The school handled it well. One of the activities planned for the end of the school day still went ahead, so we were able to enjoy that at school pick up before heading home to start lockdown, as sports later that evening was cancelled so we wouldn't be out when lockdown came into effect.

I had a grocery delivery coming the next day that I'd ordered online as usual so I didn't need to join any queues at the supermarkets, unlike last time there was a surprise lockdown and we were out of bread. My youngest son and I did decide to go get a few more books from the library though, just in case the 3 day lockdown was extended. We were not the only ones stocking up on books! 😅 I was jealous of the lady who turned up with a literal cart and just started filling it with books!

It was nice I had picked such a cheerful outfit for a stressful day - this mustard yellow tank looks really good with the navy floral duster kimono, and I thought the teal earrings were a nice bit of matchy-matchy with the teal Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag.

What I wore:

Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in mid turquoise
Shorts: Jeanswest Heather Bermuda short in black
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a little stroll along our favourite trail. This turquoise tank is such a bold shade of blue and it pairs so nicely with yellow! So this outfit is a blue tank and yellow kimono, inverse of the one above! Wore this a few days before the lockdown announcement, when it wasn't even on our mind.

Thought bright and colourful would be nice for our little walk, and of course I needed my New Balance sneakers to provide support along the trail. Took my big Louis Vuitton neverfull tote to fit all our water bottles and some snacks in - it's a big bag but it's so light and is perfect for carrying along all the kids things as well as mine!

Again I stuck with denim Bermuda shorts, these black ones matched the shoes and balanced out the bright blue and yellow nicely I thought.

Last worn: yellow kimono, navy tassel necklace, turquoise tank, black denim shorts, New Balance sneakers (above), Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote.

Other ways to wearyellow kimono and olive green, turquoise tank and pencil skirt, black denim shorts and a dress, Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote and maxi dress.

Perfect for pregnancyLouis Vuitton Neverfull tote worn 30 ways.

How You Can Wear It

Blue and yellow look so good together - in any shade combination! Try mustard yellow and navy, or even blue denim! And turquoise works well with and equally bright and sunny shade of yellow too.

Weekday Wear Link Up: Blue Kimonos, Tanks, Denim Shorts, Sneakers and Rebecca Minkoff Bags

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, keeping things simple with kimonos and denim shorts again. Trying to break up the monochromatic look of blue denim shorts and navy printed kimonos with interesting tanks too.

What I wore:

navy tie dye kimono, complimenting accessories, shorts and mustard tank | away from blue

Jacket: Jeanswest Kensley summer tie-dye kimono
Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in chartreuse
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoes: Kmart white chunky platform sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

I loved this outfit! So much so that I repeated the Bermuda denim shorts, yellow tank and navy printed kimono outfit again, just with a different kimono a couple weeks later! I just loved the way the mustard tank went with the navy tie dye kimono. Colourful but also easy to pull together for a busy day. After the school run we hit up some local opshops, and then ran around a couple different supermarkets looking for last minute party things and cake ingredients for my son's party that weekend. Woolies really let me down there but by the second store that had no stock despite saying they had it online, I'd come up with another plan for my son's cake that thankfully worked well!

As my focus was on everything we needed to buy and do for the party, I kept accessories as easy as possible - blue necklace and blue bag to compliment all the different shades of blue in the navy tie dye kimono. And of course sneakers for a lot of running around!

What I wore:

navy border print kimono with metallic silver tank, distressed denim shorts and Rebecca MInkoff julian backpack | awayfromblue

navy printed kimono, denim shorts with Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue | away from the blue

Tank: Jeanswest Maji metallic tank in soft green and silver
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue

Why I wore it:

This was such a humid day and since we were spending it outside I tried to pick a nice light outfit. This metallic tank was overdue a wear and such an easy combo with the distressed denim shorts. Wanted a cover up for my arms though despite the heat so went for this viscose kimono - it's lightweight and perfect on a humid day. Such a pretty navy print too!

Again I matched the accessories to the kimono with the navy tassel necklace and the blue Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack. The only issue with this outfit was that at one point while playing in the playground with the kids I'd had my phone out for taking a pic. Instead of putting it back in the backpack I put it into the pocket of my shorts. Mild panic sometime later when another parent picked up a phone on the other side of the playground and waved it around and I realised my phone wasn't in my bag or pockets. Thankfully the lock screen is a family pic of us so it was easy to prove it was my phone 😅 And thankfully it was an honest person who found it!

How You Can Wear It:

Blue being my favourite colour, I have a lot of blue kimonos, but this 'tank, denim shorts and accessories matching the colour of the kimono' outfit formula will work for any colourful kimono you have! Matching accessories to the colours in your kimono is an easy way to make a bright statement topper work in your outfit.

Colourful Tees, Bright Kimonos and Bermuda Shorts: Weekday Wear Link Up

Wearing some bright Cotton On "The One" v-neck tees with Bermuda shorts, floral duster kimonos and my periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag for this week's Weekday Wear Link Up.

What I wore:

baby blue and white bermuda shorts tee outfit with green floral duster kimono | awayfromblue

Chloe periwinkle small Paraty worn on arm | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | blue tee with green floral duster kimono and white bermuda shorts

Jacket: Jeanswest Delilah Long Line Kimono in Green Floral
NecklaceRoie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tassel
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed poolside blue (new purchase)
Shorts: thrifted Emerson white Bermuda shorts
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

This was a bit of a busy day! I regretted layering up with this kimono for the walk to school as it was a really hot day! After school drop off though we headed out to a bayside park to spend the morning and I much appreciated the cool breeze off the water, the heat and humidity was a little more bearable then! After my son's doctor appointment in the afternoon we ended up just playing at home in the aircon keeping cool.

Although this pastel blue tee isn't quite the same shade as the Chloe Paraty bag I thought the two shades of blue worked well together, and I really like the green floral duster with them, such a nice layering piece even if it felt a bit too much for the hot morning. I liked the white Bermuda shorts with them too, a nice neutral to balance out all the colour, but the shorts did get a little dirty at the playground - need to remember there are not playground friendly shorts when your son has been running around in bark all day and accidentally kicks you as you push him on the swing, haha! Thankfully all the dirt came off in the washing machine!

What I wore:

denim bermuda shorts and Chloe periwinkle small Paraty | away from the blue

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace
: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
Tee:  Cotton On The One fitted v tee in washed summer mango
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

Although there's no orange in the floral print of this navy duster, I thought the orange tee would go really nicely with it. I like the touch of colour this tee adds to an outfit. And unlike the day above, I appreciated the duster kimono on this day! It was a busy day, working from home after the school drop off and taking my son to an appointment in the afternoon. This colour combination with the tropical floral print and the orange tee was really colourful and cheerful and a nice mood booster for a busy day.

Again I wore my Chloe periwinkle small Paraty bag, it's been a go-to bag lately as I love the colour and it's the right size for everything I need to carry day to day, including water bottles for us all. I just wore it on this day as again I needed something quick and easy to get dressed with, and it already had all my things inside it from the previous time I wore it!

Last worn: tropical floral print duster kimono, beaded necklace, orange v-neck tee, Bermuda denim shorts, Adidas Superstar, Chloe small Paraty (above).

Other ways to weartropical floral print duster kimono and dress, orange v-neck tee and stripes, Bermuda denim shorts and scarf, Adidas Superstar and midi dress, Chloe small Paraty and maxi.

How You Can Wear It:

Jeans and a tee is a staple outfit for mum life! To change it up a little you can try a bright tee and introduce more colour and print with a duster kimono like these floral ones.

Striped Tanks, Denim Shorts and Red Crossbody Bags

With the summer heat and summer holidays near the end of January I was starting to feel a little uninspired with my outfits. Stripes and denim shorts with a pop of colour is always a good outfit idea that doesn't require a lot of effort so I wore these simple outfits on days out with the kids, accessorising with some red Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bags.

What I wore:

Cotton On The One fitted v tee in eddy stripe white / red terracotta with bermuda denim shorts red saddle bag park playdate outfit | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red | awayfromtheblue

NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in eddy stripe white / red terracotta
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs pearl beaded bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (on sale in blue!)

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a playdate in the park before school returned. I'd had grand plans for frequent playdates over the school holidays with my son's school friends, but with the little one's surgery before Christmas and wanting to make up for that after Christmas with time with family, we only made it to two playdates! I was glad we organised this one though, my son's friend's mum was so nice to talk to and the kids are such good friends.

I did think about dressing up as the other mum is very stylish, but it was a hot day and I knew I'd be running around in the park a little with the boys so I went with the mum staple of shorts and tee. Added a little interest with the striped tee instead of a plain one and a pop with the red Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag, but nothing too over the top. Perfect for a hot morning at the park. I haven't worn this Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag in a while and I'm not sure why, it's such a good bag! It worked well with the rust stripes on the tee.

Carried some snacks along to share which meant I didn't need a big handbag as everyone's water bottles went in the bag with the picnic blanket and food.

Last worn: clay striped tee, feather necklace, Bermuda denim shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff red studded saddle bag.

Other ways to wearclay striped tee and olive shorts, Bermuda denim shorts worn 30 ways, Rebecca Minkoff red studded saddle bag worn 30 ways.

Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Tank: Jeanswest 'Josie' striped back strap tank
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
BagRebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag

Why I wore it:

Stripes and denim shorts again, with another red Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag! This time around it was a striped tank, this one is so very close to 30 wears and definitely a wardrobe staple. I wore it with the distressed denim shorts and Converse for a quiet Saturday. We had a trip to the library after swimming lessons, stocking up on some new books for the kids and myself ahead of the public holiday day off a few days later. The kids also got to pick up their prize for the summer reading competition they entered which was nice.

With the blue necklace, navy stripe tank, blue denim shorts and blue Converse, this outfit really benefited from the extra pop of colour with the little red Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery crossbody bag. I like wearing red with this striped tank, it's a fun combination and one I've repeated a few times. I'm a big fan of the "if it works, repeat it again" outfit combinations 😅

Last worn: navy and white striped tank, blue necklace, distressed denim shorts, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery crossbody.

Other ways to wearnavy and white striped tank and skinny jeans, distressed denim shorts and kimono, Converse and culottes, Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery crossbody worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancynavy and white striped tank in second trimester.

How You can Wear It:
Stripes and denim is a classic combo, and both these outfits are staple mum outfits for summer days! For a little extra interest and colour you can pick a bright bag like these red Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bags, for a fun pop with your outfit.

Subtle Red and Green Festive Summer Floral Duster Outfits

Hope you have a very merry Christmas tomorrow! Getting in one final post with more red and green outfits for you. I've had fun wearing this colour combo on a few days in December and this Christmas week has been a good time to share them.

What I wore:

Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono with black and white peplum tank bermuda shorts outfit subtle red and green festive style | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag with navy floral duster kimono | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | black and white peplum tee Bermuda shorts outfit with red printed floral kimono and green crossbody bag

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Tank: Kmart black sleeveless frill hem peplum tank
Shorts: thrifted Emerson white Bermuda shorts
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs pearl, howlite and hematite beaded bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag

Why I wore it:

When I thought about trying out some red and green outfits for December I wanted to ease into it as it's a very Christmassy combo and I wasn't sure I could pull it off! Picking a printed kimono full of a few different colours, one of which is red, and accessorising with a little green bag, seemed like a good way to try it out! I also wanted to wear my newly thrifted shoes for the first time. I've shared about them before, picking them up at the opshop for just $3. I spent a little time cleaning them up as they were very worn and yellowed, but I was pleased to have got them looking a bit more presentable and being able to take them out for a spin on this day.

While the red and green combination is really subtle here the kimono is quite colourful and statement making, so I picked a simple black and white outfit to wear underneath with the peplum tank and white Bermuda shorts. They were also a thrift find! While the rose gold heart isn't an exact match with the gold hardware on the Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag I thought it was a close enough combination to go nicely together.

Was a nice quiet day - a little opshopping in the morning after the school run, and then sports in the evening after school pick up.

(Hoping for another handbag shaped present under the tree this year... 😉)

What I wore:

Jeanswest Delilah Long Line Kimono in Green Floral with peplum tee denim shorts Adidas superstar and burgundy bag subtle festive outfit | awayfromblue

Jacket: Jeanswest Delilah Long Line Kimono in Green Floral

Tee: thrifted black and white space dye peplum tee
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag in burgundy

Why I wore it:

I'm not entirely sure this combination worked with the green duster kimono and the burgundy bag. I didn't want to go too bright with one of my more cherry red bags. I thought this burgundy Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag would be a more subtle pairing but it wasn't as Christmassy as I hoped. Worked out nicely for the day though! Had an extremely busy day at work as I tried to wrap things up as much as possible to allow myself the opportunity to leave a little earlier and take my son out after school pickup to celebrate completing the year of school. Unfortunately, we realised that my plan to go grab ice creams was a fairly common one and we had to wait in a massive line as it seemed quite a few different parents had the same idea! 😂 The ice creams were definitely worth it though!

How You Can Wear It:

Red and green is a very festive combination, but doesn't have to be too bold. Try introducing one of the colours as an accessory like a bag as I have in these outfits, for a nod to December without feeling overdressed.

However you are celebrating Christmas this year, I hope you get to experience God's peace, comfort and joy. Feeling extremely blessed with no COVID cases in the community here in Queensland for 100 days that allows us to have Christmas with our family as we always do, I know others are not as lucky. This scheduled post will go live as we are spending Christmas eve laughing together, watching a Christmas movie, eating delicious food, making and decorating cookies and trying some festive crafts. Have a wonderful Christmas even if it doesn't look like you had hoped.
