Two outfits with similar colour schemes and outfit formulas, but both look very different despite featuring navy kimonos, grey tees, green and the same little Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag.
Jacket: Jeanswest Kensley summer tie-dye kimono
Necklace: thrifted Equip gold and marble station necklace
Tee: Atmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
Shoes: slim navy and pink Havaianas
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight
What I wore:
Necklace: thrifted Equip gold and marble station necklace
Tee: Atmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
Shoes: slim navy and pink Havaianas
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight
Why I wore it:
Simple jeans and tee outfit for a busy day with the school run, working from home, and an appointment for my son in the afternoon. The grey tee and the green jeans are a combination I've worn a few times in the past, but I couldn't resist changing it up a little bit this time with the navy tie dye kimono on top. I thought it went nicely with the green jeans and it was a fun bit of match-matchy with the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag, and the navy Havaianas.I really liked this outfit - nice and comfortable and practical for working from home and rushing around between school pickup and the afternoon appointment. I was glad I'd picked jeans to wear as the wind really picked up in the afternoon and it was actually a bit chilly on our way home from the appointment!
Last worn: tie dye kimono, marble station necklace, dark grey tee, green skinny jeans, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag.
Other ways to wear: tie dye kimono and shorts, dark grey tee worn 30 ways, green skinny jeans with mustard, Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag and maxi skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: dark grey tee in third trimester.
Review and First Impressions: Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford Bag
What I wore:
Necklace: Starfish Project Hannah turquoise bead necklace
Tee: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
Shorts: Jeanswest Tessa olive embroidered shorts
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight
Why I wore it:
I really liked the colours in this outfit! Just like the first outfit, it was a grey tee with green and a navy kimono, and that little Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag. This time around though it was olive shorts instead of jeans, as the weather had warmed up a lot. The navy floral print kimono adds even more colour too, as does the green beaded necklace.I thought that this grey tunic would go nicely with the pull on olive shorts - while they are both very relaxed fits I like the casualness of the outfit with the two loose pieces together, and I felt the long line of the kimono pulled it together a bit more to stop it looking too messy. Again I really liked this outfit! After the school drop off in the morning we went for a walk along our fave trail. Walking around the water was not the smartest idea after the storms that weekend though, especially when I forgot to put on mozzie repellent! I was bitten so much, ended up walking around a lot quicker than normal trying to stop my legs getting bitten 😂
Our grocery order was due to arrive the next day but I'd run out of some things for lunchboxes and it wouldn't arrive early enough in the morning, so had to go for a quick grocery shop after. Was nice to cool off my multiple bug bites in the air conditioning! And I took the opportunity to have a little browse of the shopping centre for some more Christmas gifts as well. I've purchased most of my Christmas gifts (I want to be really organised this year with all the online orders slowing down the postal service a little) but there's always a few extra things to buy!
Last worn: navy duster kimono, green beaded necklace, grey tunic tee, olive embroidered shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford (above).
Other ways to wear: navy duster kimono and skater dress, grey tunic tee and pencil skirt, olive embroidered shorts and printed tank, Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford and floral dress.
How You Can Wear It:
Blue and green is a colour combo that should definitely be seen! It's easy to pair any shade of green with navy, as you can see here with the forest green and the olive working well against the navy kimonos.
Too bad about all the bites, I know the feeling after we've had lots of rain! I really like the kimono over the loose fitting pieces, you are right, it pulls everything to together!

Wowza! That first kimono is such a showstopper! What a fabulous piece. It really looks fantastic and turns heads in the best possible way. SO pretty!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Loving both of these looks!!
ReplyDeleteLuckily our postal service isn't tooooo horrible right now but things are a little bit slower than usual. I'm done with basically all my shopping but may pick up something else for the husband, haha

Dear Mica, I understand you liked both looks and for me it is the same. The first look is indeed comfortable for a day between working from home and picking up the kids from school and the second definitely perfect for a walk on that trail!

I hope so! i just have been wearing so much more loungewear than I did before so I don't have as many outfits to share, ha!

Good styles, you look great in both :-D
ReplyDeleteI like the first outfit the most - the navy blue pulls everything together cohesively. The second outfit is good (great kimono), but I'm not a fan of grey and olive together as it feels like too much blah colour. If you'd done a brighter short or tee (like in the first outfit) I think it would have appealed to me more. I still find tees like this too casual for my taste.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for dressing up! Sorry to hear about the mosquitos! We don't even get them here.
I do have a few bright tees that work well with these olive shorts, I'll need to try one of them next time :)
DeleteI really like both of your outfits. The combination of green and blue works really well. I like the first look with the cami and the jeans. Perfect for a busy day. The second one with the floral print kimono and shorts is really cute and pretty. You always look fresh and lovely. Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteI really like the tie-dye kimono. Looks super flowy and cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day Mica! <3 Radi

I think everyone is in the same boat with the pandemic having thrown off their posting, and now a trip to the grocery store is an exciting reason to get dressed, haha. Love the second look with the floral kimono, I love how much it dresses up a simple tee and shorts.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Yes I definitely dress up more on the days I get to get out the house, ha!
DeleteI like the first outfit. Looks good on you.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfits, both!! But the colors in the first outfit made me swoon. Those green pants, yes please!! And that gorgeous kimono.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but almost every time I put together a grocery list for pickup, I wind up having to run in the store anyway because I left something off the list. So frustrating.
You look cool in both the looks! The green skinny jeans stand out really well.

Ooh I love that bag, the color works so well with so many things. I love the greens and blues together in both of these looks! Hope you're having a good week!
ReplyDeleteI love how the kimono pulled both looks, Mica:) The colour combo is fab as usual, and love the RM bag:)
ReplyDeletePS Mosquitoes really are the worst!
Have a great weekend:)
You are the queen of kimonos Mica! I love the last floral one, it's a great pick for spring :)

My favourite look is your first one, Mica! Green and navy together is one of my favourite colour combinations, and I'm really loving the pop of colour provided by the emerald green of your jeans. The navy bag is super cute. I'm hearing you on the mosquitoes! Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead, Mica! xxx
ReplyDeleteHello Mia, I hope you're having a good month so far.
ReplyDeleteI know... this pandemic has changed many of our habits and that includes fashion, lately I have been thinking about my personal style and the things i really want in my closet. So fashion is present, but we're changing some habits or going for more comfortable options :)
I really like both options, and I see that the same color palette and accessories (in this case that pretty bag) is present in both. Such a good way to present them! But I'd go for the first one, I really like the jacket kimono in that tie dye, it is like a casual but a fancy piece at the same time, perfect for the busy days and I imagine this is not heavy right? You can go running for the kids and this doesn't add to much weight.
All the best and enjoy this weekend!
Pablo
Hey Fungi
Yes, it's such a nice light piece, so perfect for summer and running around with the kids :)
DeleteLove the blue and green together. I'm not much of a blue person but do have some blues in my wardrobe, but struggle when I wear it. Think I'm going to add some green next time. Thanks for the idea.

I'm sorry you got bitten! Mosquitoes are the only thing I hate about warmer weather (although they're somehow still alive now with sub-zero temperatures).
ReplyDeleteI love your outfits though! You always style kimonos so well.
