What I Wore To Disneyland Paris & Weekday Wear Linkup

We took the boys to Disneyland Paris! We had two amazing days at Euro Disney, having the best fun. It really is a magical place and while the parks were busy and things were crowded and my French was not as great as it could be, we had an incredible time.

We packed light, hand luggage only, as we flew from Edinburgh to Paris.

What I wore:

TeeUniqlo Mickey Mouse 'Mickey Stands' short sleeve graphic tee
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

I could not stop grinning! It's been a dream of mine to go to Disneyland since I was little and to take the boys and seeing them immersed in the magic for a couple of days was wonderful!

Day one was Disneyland Paris - I wore my Mickey tee (we all did for our meeting with the famous mouse!) and my maxi skirt, with my comfortable Converse for walking around a lot. It's a big park! We got to meet treasured characters, eat the best food (Mickey Mouse shaped pizzas and a lot of popcorn!) and took so many photos. It was a chilly start to the day but did warm up so my Louis Vuitton scarf and my leather jacket came off and on through the day. The boys were dressed in layers too.

I wanted to share a favourite moment from the day here on the blog but there were so many! From finally getting to meet Mickey after planning this trip for almost a year, meeting Winnie the Pooh, the parade where Elsa blew a kiss to the boys, and Peter Pan recognised them from earlier in the day, the fireworks show at the end of the night and many more ... there are just so many special moments! I included some of them in the video below. If you've ever wanted to visit Disney, do it! Especially when the kids are little!

Why I wore it:

Our next day at Disneyland Paris we went to Walt Disney Studios. I was glad I'd packed this short sleeve dress as this was a much warmer day and my leather jacket didn't stay on long at all. The dress was a nice light outfit option to have in my hand luggage and a dream to travel with - no creases when I rolled it up.

Initially I'd been unsure if this park would be as much fun as the main park for the boys - it turned out to be such a great day and I'm glad we went. It was certainly a quieter park with much shorter wait times for rides. Although we did have to use a Fast Pass to get on the Tower of Terror ride! The boys got to meet Spiderman after watching the superhero show live and were over the moon! We cuddled Pluto and Goofy and walked past Cruella De Ville and Woody, and went on a ton of rides.

It was another magical day and over much too soon, but we had to leave and get to the airport to fly back to Scotland for a very important date.

Floral Swing Dresses and Autumn Layers With Red Rebecca Minkoff Micro Avery Bag

It's always so nice when cooler weather arrives in Brisbane and I can start to layer. Sometimes in autumn you need an extra layer when wearing a dress, and I've worn two floral dresses below slightly layered for the colder mornings.

What I wore:

Zaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger with leggings in autumn swing dress style | awayfromblue

autumn colours: mustard dress with Rebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue Instagram | Zaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger with leggings red bag SAHM mum style
Earrings: Lovisa mini mustard tassel earrings
Necklace: For King & Country Priceless Australian coin and crest necklace
DressZaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger with leggings underneath
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagRebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag

Why I wore it:

This dress is one that I love but so rarely wear! The statement sleeves look so pretty but they don't make mum life easy as they frequently get in the way. Decided to wear this out to church in the morning, after everyone had breakfast as I didn't feel like making porridge making and attempting to clean up the breakfast bowls after with the long bell sleeves! 😂

I had considered ankle boots with this but decided on ballet flats instead - the black flats go nicely with the black leggings and I felt quite cosy on a cold morning. As well as matching the shoes and leggings together, I picked my mustard tassel earrings to match the dress. The bag was a bit of a different choice - the floral print is more burgundy - but I really liked the autumnal combination of mustard and cherry red together.

Last worn: mustard tassel earrings, mustard floral swing dress, coin necklace, black leggings, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery tote bag.

Other ways to wearmustard floral swing dress in summer, black ballet flats in the office, Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery tote bag and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancy black leggings in third trimester, black ballet flats in third trimester.

Necklace: Kmart rose gold and pink beaded necklace

ShoesAsos leather Chelsea boots in tan
BagRebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag

Why I wore it:

Another floral swing dress! Again, I stuck with the Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery bag, although this time it perfectly matched the floral print on the dress. It's not the first time I've worn this dress with a denim jacket, it's a nice layer for autumn and it turned into such a nice day I took the jacket off in the middle of it.

This was a pretty outfit for the busy day. The grandparents watched the boys for a little bit while I popped to the doctors for an uncomfortable but necessary appointment (get your pap smear regularly!).

Wile the bag matched the floral print, the blush necklace was a last minute addition. Although I wasn't sure about the pink and red together, I really liked the rose gold on the necklace matching the gold hardware on the micro Avery bag. Ended up loving the combination!

Printed Tanks And Colourful Skinny Jeans With Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote

Just like Monday's post, again I'm wearing printed tanks and colourful pants. A bit more casually this time, for my usual SAHM days with the kids.

What I wore:

red skinny jeans cheetah print tank louis vuitton neverfrull converse SAHM play centre outfit | awayfromblue

red skinny jeans with Louis Vuitton damier azur MM neverfull tote bag | awayfromtheblue

NecklaceJeanswest Taryn turquoise tassel bead necklace
DressJeanswest 'Rowena' print tank
Jeans: thrifted Emerson red skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Every time I think of an outfit combination with these red jeans I'm surprised when I flick through the blog archives and find I haven't worn it before! While I've never worn this printed tank and red jeans together, I really liked the combination, and it seems so obvious. It was a nice effortless outfit for a day with the boys. We headed out to a local play centre I had a soon to expire voucher for and I had a nice time at the cafe with a hot chocolate and a book while the boys played.

Of course I didn't get to enjoy the hot chocolate completely hot, there were some incidents with a smashed ear, a bruised knee and a bleeding nose... the boys had fun though despite leaving with a few injuries!

Last worn: animal print tank, turquoise tassel necklace, red skinny jeans, Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote.

Other ways to wearanimal print tank in the office, red skinny jeans and rainbow knit, Converse and pencil skirt, Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote and maxi dress.

Perfect for pregnancyanimal print tank in second trimester, Converse in second trimester, Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote.

Wear and Tear: Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote After 7 Years

Tank: thrifted Target mixed print colourful printed tank
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
ShoesNovo Tawny rose gold sandals
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

A very similar outfit combination again! I picked the same turquoise tassel necklace, following the printed tank and skinny jeans outfit formula, even sticking with the same Louis Vuitton bag. I did wear sandals instead of Converse though.

This fun printed tank was a great opshop $1 bargain find, and although it has no green in it, I thought it would be fun to wear with the green skinny jeans, also an opshop find! I usually stick with neutrals when wearing these green jeans, I find green a tricky colour to wear, but I decided to be bright and colourful and pair the tank with them. I really liked the colours together!

This was another day that was supposed to be quiet but didn't quite go according to plan! The plan was to go to the library, run a few errands, have an early nap and then go see my friend in the afternoon for our coffee date that we'd had to reschedule a few times with sick kids. Thankfully I managed to get everything done, but with a couple more surprises along the way including a very late doctor's visit that meant a late dinner. One of those eventful days where everything goes wrong! At least I had fun with my friend and the boys enjoyed the library in the morning.

Last worn: mixed print colourful tank, turquoise necklace (above), green skinny jeans, gold sandals, Louis Vuitton neverfull bag (above).

Other ways to wearmixed print colourful tank and shorts, green skinny jeans and navy, gold sandals and maxi dress, Louis Vuitton neverfull bag worn 30 ways.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Striped Tanks Worn 2 Ways: In The Office, Casually

A little bit of print mixing for this week's Weekday Wear Linkup! Showing you two different ways to wear striped tanks, in the office and casually, and doing a little print mixing by having spotty accessories with the stripes in each outfit too!

What I wore:

autumn olive and yellow print mixing stripes and leopard print outfit with kimono | awayfromblue

NecklaceJeanswest Taryn turquoise tassel bead necklace
TankAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
JeansJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesWalnut Melbourne Ava white leopard ballet flats
BagRebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold

Why I wore it:

Starting to realise you can't see my earrings with my new shorter haircut! 😂 I was so thrilled to wear jeans for once! I wore these a couple weeks ago, excited about the weather cooling down. Green is one of the colours I find tricky to wear and as a result these olive jeans are frequently worn with black - this striped tank seemed like an obvious choice. Added the white kimono as I wasn't sure which of my printed ones would look best with this and wanted to keep it simple!

Couldn't resist adding a little bit of leopard print to this outfit with the printed shoes too - I felt they worked nicely with the striped tank as they are the same colour scheme.

Hubby and I had an appointment to attend that unfortunately was in the middle of the day. We decided to make the most of it and take the day off. It was nice to have some quiet time at home to get caught up with a few must do tasks which are easier without the boys around!

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats

Why I wore it:

I felt this outfit was lacking a little something - this cute blue polka dot scarf that I got as a Christmas present from my mum was the perfect finishing piece to add to the striped tank and pencil skirt and blazer outfit. It was a nice bit of print mixing and extra touch of colour with the grey.

The Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag added a little more colour too! I like how the magenta pops with the grey.

Last worn: grey jersey blazer, striped tank, grey pencil skirt, metallic ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag. First time I've worn the scarf as it was a Christmas present.

Striped Tanks Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A striped tank is a great wardrobe basic that you can easily dress up or down. Stripes are so fun to print mix with too! Why not try introducing a small accessory with a different print for a subtle take on pattern mixing in your outfit.

30 Ways To Wear A Blue Lace Pencil Skirt: #30wears

I've been looking forward to doing this 30 wears post for a while, this textured blue lace pencil skirt is a firm favourite!

With this monthly series, I pick a piece from my wardrobe I've worn over 30 times and go back through my blog archives to show you some of the ways I've worn it. Inspired by the #30wears challenge!

30 Ways To Wear: ASOS Blue Contrast Lace Pencil Skirt

30 ways to wear a blue lace pencil skirt #30wears | awayfromtheblue blog

There are a few reasons why I've been looking forward to doing this post. This is a pencil skirt that is a frequent reader favourite whenever it pops up on the blog, it was an impulse sale buy that really has worked for my wardrobe, and something I've hit much more than 30 wears on. A few of those wears were way back at the start of my blog so I wanted to wait until I could use a little more recent pics and less of the early days headless shots for this compilation post!

I bought this skirt after falling in love with it in a photo online - I think it may have been a photo of Wendy's but I'm not sure after all these years. I was sad to see it was sold out, and thrilled when it was in stock in my size and on sale a little later. I hurriedly bought it back in January 2012. The elastic waist means it still fits now just as it did pre-babies and during my pregnancies!

Cost Per Wear

Luckily I have the old email confirmation of my ASOS order to know that I paid $35.49 for this skirt 7 years ago! After wearing it more than 37 times, it's down to less than a dollar per wear, that magic figure that seems to be the goal for most people. Pretty good CPW for such a statement piece! Surprisingly, I don't have any of the other things I bought from that ASOS order still in my wardrobe, including a plain black pencil skirt I purchased at the same time. Apart from one small snag to the lace, this skirt still looks as good as new.

30 Ways To Wear A Blue Lace Pencil Skirt: Video Style

Blue Pencil Skirt With Grey

3 ways to wear a blue lace textured pencil skirt with grey tees | awayfromblue

This is a theme that will pop up a lot more often as you scroll through the photos in this post - I really like pairing blue and grey together, so I do that frequently with this navy lace skirt. I particularly like that darker charcoal grey tee with it!

Lace Pencil Skirt Belted

3 ways to belt a blue lace pencil skirt outfit ideas | away from the blue

Remember a few years ago when everyone belted everything?! I think it worked really nicely with this pencil skirt, I should probably try it again soon! I think belting this high waisted skirt really helped visually lengthen my petite frame.

Blue Pencil Skirt With Brights

bright pieces with a navy lace pencil skirt ways to wear | awayfromtheblue

From a bright handbag, bright scarf or just a bold brightly coloured tank, I love the way this blue lace skirt compliments other bright pieces in my outfit.

Lace Pencil Skirt With A Blazer

lace pencil skirt with 3 ways in the office with blazers | away from blue

This blue lace pencil skirt is a work staple, and of course a blazer is an office essential too. The cream jersey blazer is frequently paired with this lace skirt as it matches the beige base background the lace is overlaid on.

Blue Pencil Skirt In Monochromatic Outfit

5 monochormatic outfit ideas with a blue textured lace pencil skirt | awayfromtheblue

When you're not sure what to wear with something, pick another piece in a similar colour! While the lace on this pencil skirt is navy, it works so well with different shades of blue. And with blue being my favourite colour, monochromatic blue outfits make me happy!

Blue Lace Pencil Skirt With Purple

4 ways to wear purple with a lace pencil skirt | awayfromblue

Blue and purple is one of those colour combinations I frequently wear. I like how the colours work together. You can try a lot of purple like a purple tank, or a little bit of purple with an accessory like a purple scarf or bag.

Lace Pencil Skirt and Winter Layers

4 ways to layer a blue textured pencil skirt for winter with scarves jackets tights | awayfromblue

This blue lace pencil skirt is a great spring / summer piece, but it works nicely layered up for winter too, the blue lace really stands out with black layers or tights. It's definitely something I wear more in warmer weather, but being a thick material it's not too cold to wear in the cooler months.

Blue Pencil Skirt With White Tops

4 ways to wear a navy textured lace pencil skirt simple outfit ideas with white tops | awayfromtheblue

Like most mums, white isn't my go-to colour! I do like wearing it when I'm in the office though as it is a little easier to keep white clothes clean when I only have my clumsiness to worry about and not two adorable little toddlers that could leave stains! When I first got this skirt, white was a frequent go-to with it, before I tried more of the colour combinations you've seen above. Nothing wrong with having a classic go-to option for wearing a statement piece.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Wrap Tops and Blue Pencil Skirts With Pink City Bag

Two lovely wrap tops with navy textured pencil skirts with the Weekday Wear Linkup! I picked these wrap tops to wear as I was hunting through my wardrobe for more pieces to donate and I realised I hadn't worn these in a while. They were definitely overdue a wear.

What I wore:

TopAtmos & Here Arlene wrap top in navy
SkirtAsos blue textured lace pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagBalenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet (more affordable preloved)

Why I wore it:

This navy wrap top is such a comfortable piece to wear, because I sized up when I bought it as I was pregnant. I was surprised to see I hadn't worn this top and skirt together before, the navy lace works so well with the wrap top.

I added the pink Balenciaga city bag for a little extra burst of colour. I wasn't 100% happy with the shoes though, I think another pair would have worked better, maybe a silver pair like I wore below.

Last worn: navy wrap top, tassel earrings, initial necklace, lace pencil skirt, camel flats, Balenciaga sorbet city bag.

Other ways to wearnavy wrap top and shorts, lace pencil skirt in winter, camel flats and olive pants, Balenciaga sorbet city bag and denim shorts.

Perfect for pregnancynavy wrap top in third trimester, lace pencil skirt in second trimester, camel flats in third trimester, Balenciaga sorbet city bag at 37 weeks pregnant.

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the outfit above, I wore a similar outfit the next day I was in the office. I love taking an outfit and following the same formula to create something new without trying too hard! This time around it was my grey jersey wrap top and my navy jacquard pencil skirt. I picked silver flats this time, and liked the outfit a lot more. Surprised to see that this top hasn't been worn in over a year though!

Again I stuck with the pink Balenciaga city bag - it's a fun pop of colour! And swapped the grey earrings for these navy ones instead. While the earrings are gold, I still went with silver necklaces and I don't feel they looked out of place.

Last worn: grey wrap top, navy tassel earrings, star necklace, Silhoupette, jacquard pencil skirt, silver ballet flats, Balenciaga sorbet city bag (above).

Wrap Tops Under $50

How You Can Wear It

While wrap tops work great for breastfeeding (and it was the reason why I bought these tops!) they work equally well when you're not breastfeeding. They are a nice alternative to a plain top, and neutral colours like these mean they work well in an office. If you're looking for a wrap top that will do double duty for corporate style, ones with a modesty snap like these ones are a good way to go.
