I'm a fan of splurging on accessories and saving on clothes - as you can see from both of these bargain dresses, which are less than 2% of the cost of the bag as they are both under $30!
What I wore:
Dress: Zaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
With the statement bell sleeves, this dress isn't a practical choice for being around the boys all day, with all the spills you have to clean up and food you have to prepare! It did feel a little over-dressed to work from home, but hubby and I had an appointment in the evening so I took advantage of the babysitting offered by the grandparents had the chance to dress up a little. This was one of those days where it started out so promisingly. I won't go into it, but I was so upset after the appointment and it just added more stress to an already stressful week. I was glad when the day was over, even though the week didn't improve after that.
At least I felt good in this outfit - the mustard yellow of this dress is such a lovely shade and the blue Balenciaga day bag looks great against it. This was also the first photo I took with my new tripod! I upgraded the tripod I was using for blog photos to something a little lighter and more portable than the one I'd borrowed from my Dad.
Last worn: floral ruffle hem dress, black Havaianas, Balenciaga tempete day bag.
Other ways to wear: floral ruffle hem dress and mint bag, Balenciaga tempete day bag and maxi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: balenciaga tempete bag in third trimester.
Balenciaga Day Bag Review:
Where to Buy the Balenciaga Day Bag:
What I wore:
Dress: Shein navy flower print flowy dress (C/O)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
Another easy swing dress for another work from home day! Also had to take baby boy to a specialist appointment in the afternoon. Luckily I had my mum helping to entertain the eldest while we were in the appointment. As I'd been carrying my Balenciaga day bag a lot, I kept it on this day too. I like the two blues together, the navy blue of the dress looks so nice with the tempete (blue/grey) colour of the bag.As rain was forecast, I went with the closed in shoes just in case. It didn't rain and turned out to be another hot and humid day. Did majorly storm that evening though. Luckily, this long sleeve dress is quite light. It's viscose, so despite the long sleeves and length, it was wonderfully cool to wear.
Last worn: navy floral print dress, silver ballet flats, Balenciaga tempete day bag (above).
Other ways to wear: navy floral print dress and little red bag, silver ballet flats and wrap dress, Balenciaga tempete day bag and embroidered blouse.
Perfect for pregnancy: silver ballet flats and maternity pencil skirt, Balenciaga tempete day bag in second trimester.
Swing Dresses For Summer Under $50:
How You Can Wear It:
Swing dresses are perfect for a hot day. The loose, relaxed shape helps counteract the hot sticky feeling you get when the humidity is high, and the swing hem can catch the breeze quite nicely and help keep you cool.Linking up with Lizzie In Lace, Fabulous Friday, Style Wise.

Always love this mustard ruffle dress, perfect for transitional season. I think this is the most roomy Balenciaga bag I've seen, you have a lot of Balenciaga bags dear. Wishing you a fun weekend in your end. We are planning to hit the wave pool tomorrow, hopefully it will still be warm as it's getting colder here now.
ReplyDeletewww.busyandfab.com
Still pretty warm here !I'm sure you enjoyed your pool day :) I'm looking forward to layering this dress more as it cools!
DeleteI love the color of the first dress, but I am afraid it would be too short on me to wear it like this, even when working from home. I am paranoid about flashing my private parts at someone by accident as I am tall and most dresses fall short on me anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Linda, Libra, Loca
haha yes, the benefits of being petite, dresses are usually never too short for me!
DeleteHappy Autumn beautiful lady! I absolutely adore both dresses! The bag compliments beautifully! I agree I love the different shades of blues! Thanks always for inspiration!

I love the floral dresses! They are so pretty.

Ooh that first dress is so pretty! Love the sleeves! And that blue shade of the second dress is so perfect

Love both your dresses, Mica:) Both the mustard yellow and the blue look great. And I'm the same...I'd rather splurge on shoes and accessories than clothes. That Balenciaga bag is just fab.
ReplyDeletePS I hope your week had been better after day. XOXO
Thank you Emmy. It was a tough time for a while there, but it's going better now!
DeleteI love that mustard swing dress on you! The colors are perfect for the autumn, and the color of your bag is beautiful!

It makes me excited to think it's fall there for you guys because that means Spring is right around the corner for us! It's hard to remind myself with a blanket of yucky snow on the ground. This winter seems like it's gone on FOREVER. lol I am so excited for summer! I was super excited to wear dresses this summer before I realized I have zero idea on how to nurse in a dress. ?? Tips and tricks? Or will this be a dress-less summer for me. lol
ReplyDeleteAs per my email, I missed my dresses while breastfeeding! If they didn't have buttons I couldn't do it :( This post has some nice dresses you can breastfeed in now and still wear later (without paying a fortune for 'nursing friendly' pieces!)

I'm sorry to hear that you had a stressful day when you were wearing the first dress. It's a good thing it's behind you now and i hope all the days since have been much better!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was a tough while but it's much better now.
DeleteSuch a lovely dress!! So chic, love!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, love!

I love the mustard yellow dress! It really is so pretty for Fall. And it looks so good with your teal balenciaga bag. I know what you mean about bell sleeves, I feel the same! They look so good but is not the best for doing things in.
ReplyDeleteI also love how you paired both dresses with a long pendant style necklace, I've been on the hunt for one and can't seem to find one that checks all the boxes. I love how they look though!
I hope you're having a lovely weekend!
I love long necklaces like this too! the first silver one was a gift, but I don't recall where I got the red one.
DeleteThat mustard dress is always my fave ! That floral print and bright shade look so good Mica !
ReplyDeleteOH and I have a tip for you. ROLL those sleeves and set them in place with a rubber band.... and voilá-
I need to give that a try! :)
DeleteYou are so cute! Love those dresses - so perfect for spring with the colors and floral! You always have such fun outfits - very inspiring!
ReplyDelete-Emily | www.East91Blog.com
Oooh the bell sleeves in the first one are lovely, they're so fashionable at the moment and yet I still haven't found myself with my hands on an item with bell sleeves for myself. I also adore the colours in these, they suit you really well!

This dress is such an inexpensive way to try the trend! :)
DeleteI love both of those dresses, especially that mustard print one! I'm sorry that you had a frustrating appointment and day, I hope things are going better now! Have a good weekend Mica!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shea. It was tough there for a moment but much better now!
DeleteHi Mica!
ReplyDeleteI love how you always show us different options to wear the same piece be it an accessory or clothing :D I really liked the color combination on the first look. Although as you said, it might have looked a bit "over-dressed", I don't really think so, the only downside might have been those bell sleeves around the kids.
Hope you are all having an amazing autumn-start weekend there! :)
Best,
Amanda

These are both lovely on you! That mustard is nearly orange on my monitor - such a rich colour. Happy autumn!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a deep mustard! It's listed as ginger on the site, so I can see why it brings it up really orange.
DeleteLove the bold yellow color of this floral dress! The color of the bag is phenomenal too.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.kathrineeldridge.com
I love the mustard dress in your first outfit, the pattern and the colors are very fall appropriate! I also really like the contrast between yellow and blue, this is actually one of my favorite color combos and a really underrated one I think! Hope you have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteJenny | Geeky Posh
Wow I love this mustard color on you, so weird to hear that it is autumn in Australia. Lucky you! We are so tired of the snow here and waiting for spring weather to settle in lol
ReplyDeleteI love both the dresses! Mustard is the best colour.

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping I can layer these for cooler weather too! :)
DeleteEverything here is soooo e! I loved the beautiful bold colours of the first dress - summer or spring, whatever you feel :) And the second as well, so lovely! You look really beautiful! And no wonder you have been wearing this lovely bag a lot, like you said - it's perfect! I hope you have a lovely weekend!

I love the floral dress. It looks so fun and flirty. Comfy too. Glad you got a chance to wear it out to your appointment with your hubby. Dress number 2 showing the same bag also looks lovely. Have a great weekend.

love the floral dress hon.. you look lovely x

I really like that yellow dress!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of the second dress and the bag complements them both so nicely!
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting approach to spend more money on accessories than clothes - I've never really thought about it but it makes total sense considering you're going to wear a bag with lots of different combinations and you need it to be good quality!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab week!
Musings & More
Yes, I've had bags in my wardrobe a lot longer than clothes, I definitely think they are worth investing in. :)
DeleteLove your Balenciaga bag, I have a City that is almost the same shade! The yellow floral dress look incredible on you! Love it :) Kisses

I'm so into mustard yellow in clothing, I don't think it matters what kind of piece it is, if it's mustard yellow, I love it. Statement bell sleeves are beautiful, but I feel like just in general they're not really practical. I've forgone a few shirts/dresses with those sleeves for the sole reason I wouldn't be able to put a jacket over it, lol.
ReplyDeleteI hope this upcoming week treats you better, Mica!

Yes, I'll be interested to see how I can layer this with jackets! And I'm loving everything mustard yellow at the moment too!

Thanks so much :)
DeleteWorking from home personally for me still is a great opportunity to wear risky outfits :) Therefore, it happens quite often I'm overdressed when working from home :) I love both looks you wore on your home offices days - but I'm very sorry that the appointment you had on the first day turned out so bad. Hopefully now everything is better in this context ...

Thanks Rena. It is better now, and it is fun to experiment with different outfits when working from home :)
DeleteI love the versatility of swing dresses as they can hide a multitude of sins even on fat days! Always great for a meal out too! I love the mustard colour and at that price it's even better! Could do with one of these dresses for my upcoming trip to Italy!

I'm loving flowy spring dresses. The mustard dress looks so beautiful. It's looking vintage and Indian style. I can wear it with legging and palazzo. It's really a interesting idea to spend more money on accessories than clothes. Have a great Monday sweetheart!! Lot of love <3

I'd like to try it with leggings in cooler weather!
DeleteYour mustard bell sleeved dress is beautiful! I love the way the fabric crinkles a bit. I am sure it helps to disguise wrinkles! I am sorry the day didn't go well for you. It's always frustrating when that happens! You definitely looked great though! Both dresses are really cute!
ReplyDeleteYes, it means it doesn't need ironing either, such a great dress!
DeleteThose style dresses really look pretty on you Mica. Love both of the prints and colors in them. My favorite is the first one.
