What I wore:
Scarf: Louis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
Dress: Jeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell (C/O)
Shoes: NineWest "Quicken" wedges in natural
Bracelets: the usual plus silver charm bracelet
Bag: Chanel vintage quilted lambskin flap
Why I wore it:
I had been looking forward to this day for so long! One of my oldest friends was getting married and we were so thrilled to celebrate with the couple. While his wife is someone I've only gotten to know over the past few years, I met him all the way back in uni so hubby and I are good friends with him. (I met my hubby in uni too, a couple years later!).It was literally the only sunny day in over a week of rain and storms, they couldn't have had a better day. The sun came out for the ceremony (overlooking the beautiful water) and when the breeze started to pick up and get cooler in the evening I had my Louis Vuitton shawl in my bag. It's the first time I've worn this shawl as an actual shawl and not just as a scarf!
The bag was another accessory I love - a vintage Chanel flap I don't get to wear often, but treasure the times I do!
The shoes I was not too happy with. You might have seen on my Insta stories that taking a few steps out the door to leave resulted in the sole of one of my shoes flying off! So I ran back inside and superglued it together, hoping it would hold out for the party, and trying to ignore the fact that I put it on a little crooked....thankfully, it held together well. The other shoe on the other hand decided to fall to pieces in the same way, as I walked through the middle of the tables at this small and intimate wedding. I've had them for a few years, and I got them pre blog, but in the 6 years I've been blogging this is their 7th wear so it's not like I've overly worn them! I suspect the heat / humidity has got to the glue holding them together while they've spent most of their life stored in a box.
On the plus side, the wedding was wonderful, the ceremony so moving, the food delicious, the speeches both hilarious and heartwarming, and the dancing wonderful. Even if it was a bit of a challenge dancing with lopsided shoes after consuming a couple of glasses of champagne! 😂 I ended up copying the mother of the groom and going shoe-less in the end.
Last worn: Louis Vuitton shawl, pink tassel earrings, grecian maxi dress, nude wedges, vintage Chanel flap.
Other ways to wear: Louis Vuitton shawl woth jeans and tee, grecian maxi dress for birthday party, nude wedges and lace dress, vintage Chanel flap for Christmas day.
Perfect for pregnancy: nude wedges in first trimester, maxi dress in second trimester, vintage Chanel flap at 40 weeks pregnant.
What's In My Bag: Vintage Chanel Flap
What I wore:
Scarf: Jeanswest Lucille golden yellow scarf
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
Shoes: Asos leather Chelsea boots in tan
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold
Why I wore it:
The weekend before the wedding was a bit cold and wet, so I ended up layering my maxi dress up a little more, with the mustard scarf, denim jacket and ankle boots. Had a bit of a busy day, with swim lessons in the morning, followed by a birthday party for one of little T's friends, then a trip down the coast to spend time with my parents. The ankle boots were a perfect choice for the wet weather and my layers kept me nice and cosy. I thought this maxi dress would be perfect as I've never been to a birthday party at McDonalds before and wasn't sure what to wear! It was interesting seeing what the other mums were wearing, so many different outfits - and I saw a few similar outfits to other things I was thinking of wearing! - but of course the best dressed was the birthday girl.
It was a lot of fun, getting to chat to the parents of some of the kids I have only heard about from the boys stories after daycare. It was also very noisy, as the kids had a great time running around and playing together.
Last worn: denim jacket, mustard scarf, blue printed maxi dress, Chelsea ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag.
Other ways to wear: denim jacket and skinny jeans, mustard scarf and olive pants, blue printed maxi dress in summer, Chelsea ankle boots and swing dress, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag and skinny jeans.
Perfect for pregnancy: denim jacket in second trimester, blue printed maxi dress at 39 weeks pregnant, Chelsea ankle boots in second trimester.

A maxi dress is a wardrobe staple as you can really make it work for you, for any event or season! You can dress it up with luxe accessories or down with a denim jacket, and you can easily add an extra layer if it gets chilly. No shopping haul this month! I only spent $2 on this Kmart dress. These are both fantastic outfits! I'm so glad you had a great time at the wedding, and they really lucked out with the weather! I'm drooling over you Chanel bag, haha. And now I want to see if I can copy that color combo in your second outfit! That is so pretty! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey had the perfect weather! It was wonderful! Hope you can give the colour combo a try :)
Deletequesto vestito mi piace tanto*_*
ReplyDeleteI love both outfits but the second is my favorite - looks like something I'd wear. And pairing that adorable yellow bag and the yellow scarf - love it! Definitely a great look for Fall to Winter with a sweater or denim jacket over it.

Both of those outfits are great - full of color that I love- I like so much your vintage Chanel bag that you had on your friend's wedding . And I can't understand why you were not so happy about your shoes - sometimes wearing them it can be painful - have a lovely weekend dear xx
ReplyDeleteYes it was really painful trying to walk around on broken shoes!
DeleteOh my - the shoe disaster sounds a bit stressful all at the last minute!! Glad you were able to somewhat repair them to get through the wedding! Good job on only spending $2 this month! I need to make that my goal for December after doing some Black Friday Damage!
ReplyDeleteGina || On the Daily Express
I've spent a little more in December already, haha! It was so annoying with the shoes, but definitely a funny memory of the wedding!
DeleteYour wedding outfit is absolutely spectacular Mica!! The colors look just like the ocean water.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see that blue dress styled again, maybe more casually!! Because you do such a good job at that.
XOXO

wow love the pop of yellow next to that maxi! http://marciabtravels.blogspot.com/2018/11/holiday-gift-guide-for-traveling.html
ReplyDeleteThat first dress is SUCH a nice colour on you, Mica! You look so elegant and classy. I love the pretty shawl and that Chanel bag is to die for!
ReplyDeleteYour second look is also lovely - the mustard really punches against the blue.
Looking fabulous, my dear, and proving that you do not need to be uncomfortable to look amazing. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks so much Sheila! It is such a great dress, instantly feels so dressed up!
DeleteSo glad your dear friend had a perfect wedding day! And I love your vintage Chanel, I'd want to wear it all the time!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
I used to wear it a lot but being lambskin it's not the most kid-friendly piece, haha!
DeleteYou look amazing in the dress you wore to your friend's wedding, Mica! The colour of the dress is gorgeous and suits you so well! I love the photo of your Chanel bag and the bag itself, of course! ;) I love the colour combo in the second outfit too. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Mica! XXX
ReplyDeleteThat so suck about you shoe. You look stunning in the first dress. I hope you have a great weekend. I have to work on Saturday. Then Sunday I'm off and have a lot of clothes to wash.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amysfashionblog.com/blog-home/
The color of that formal dress looks lovely on you, Mica! Too bad about the shoes..
ReplyDeletewww.jeannieinabottleblog.com
Bless your heart. I can't believe your shoe fell apart during the evening. I love the blue and mustard together. Both outfits were pretty. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was so funny, I can't believe it happened twice! What are the chances!
DeleteThat is a shame with the shoes, especially after you got so little wear out of them! But you looked lovely for both occasions. You know I share your love for maxi dresses.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Linda, Libra, Loca
Thanks Anne. I am upset I didn't get more wear from these - hopefully I can repair the other one (maybe professionally!).
DeleteOh what a shame about the shoes, but the rest of the outfit made up for that! Just gorgeous! I said it before, maxi dresses are made for you!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear that you had a fun time at the wedding. You look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to go to a wedding soon, in the new year one of my best friends is getting married.

So exciting! Congrats to your friend :)
DeleteYou can never go wrong with mustard and blue:) And congrats to your friend! Weddings are always fun. You looked fab! Sorry to hear about the shoes, but glad to hear you were able to make them work:)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Thanks Emmy! I was surprised the glue I put on held - at least one one of the shoes, ha!
DeleteYou honestly have the best handbags, which leads to so much fashion interest with all your accessories. If we lived close to each other, I'd insist on a borrow swap. lol. Ok, I'd only have like 5 bags to bring to the table! have a great day!!
ReplyDeletehaha yes, I do love my handbags! :)
DeleteWhat a relief that the sun decided to come out and bless them on their wedding day! You are so right about the maxi dress being easily dressed up/down for different occasions. I can't believe your shoe story. I will admit that I chuckled a little bit but totally empathize with how annoying that would have been on the day.
ReplyDeletebosbodaciousblog.blogspot.ca
It was an amazing day, such good weather! I had a good laugh after, but I was so flustered when it happened the first time!
DeleteI love the ease of a maxi dress! Your wedding look is gorgeous! The eggshell blue is so pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
I love your blue on blue look for the wedding! You look gorgeous! And I remember your Insta Story about your shoes breaking! What are the odds that they would BOTH break on the same night?!
ReplyDeleteI could not believe it when the second one did the same thing! Definitely unexpected!
DeleteI really like these looks, the second one is one of my favourites because I love mustard yellow. But the blue scarf is great. It's nice to celebrate with friends you have known for a long time. <3

DeleteCongratulations to the happy couple. It's wonderful that you enjoyed the wedding despite the shoes.
ReplyDeleteBoth looks are lovely. Maxi dresses really are so versatile.

The shoes were such a small part of a wonderful day - definitely didn't stop me enjoying the wedding!

The Flower Duet
Your wedding guest outfit is so beautiful. The maxi dress you wore is wonderful and goes so well with that vintage Chanel item. Sorry to hear about the shoe incident, it happened to me once or twice as well. I think that some shoes are more likely to fall apart the longer they stay in the box. For example, I bought some shoes on a discount from last season, meaning they were in a box only a year or so, but they fell apart quickly. It depends on how well they're made, the glue used and etc.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your friend btw.
The second outfit is very lovely as well. I love how you paired a blue outfit with mustard yellow accessories. A very stylish combo for sure.
Have a lovely Sunday!
Definitely think their long time in the box has something to do with it, especially with the humidity here!
DeleteThose dresses are so cute, I love how you styled them

You sure know how to rock a maxi dress. What a shame about the shoes but everyone knows that all the best wedding dances are barefoot!
ReplyDeletehaha yes I think most end up barefoot by the end of the night! It was so fun despite the shoe struggles!
DeleteAlways so colorful and chic, I love your sense of style!

Both looks are perfect, dear Mica! So sorry you had these mishaps with both shoes of your first look but how you put together the pieces looks absolutely fantastic. Love also the second look for the MacDonalds birthday party - you put everything so well together! I neither have been at the party there btw so far :)

You look so elegant and beautiful in the first outfit! The color of that maxi dress suits you very well. It's a shame the shoes broke, but dancing barefoot at a wedding does sound like fun. And I love the mustard and blue color combination of the second outfit. I hope you have a wonderful week!

It was much easier dancing barefoot, and definitely still just as fun! :)

What a bummer about your shoes! You look lovely in that dress! The shawl is really pretty with it too! And your blue dress is perfect with the yellow accessories! Hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty and chic in both maxis. I can't believe your shoes, how nerve wracking!
ReplyDeleteIt was frustrating the first time it happened as we were in a rush to get there, but just funny the second time!
DeleteThank you all for your lovely comments - and sympathy for the show situation at the wedding, haha!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Mica, the light blue dress and shawl look so beautiful together. I had a wedding three weeks ago and now have another one to go to in January.. i've got to choose a dress as the theme is something like "tropical chic luxe". So you can imagine the hassle to try and decypher that dress code.
