Adding Colour To Black and White Jeans Outfits In Winter | Weekday Wear Link Up

Sharing two black and white outfits I wore recently for today's Weekday Wear Link up. I like adding a pop of colour to an otherwise neutral outfit, and with it being winter in Brisbane I added some cosy but colourful layers to both of these outfits to brighten them up.

What I wore:

thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Jacket: Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in scarlett marle
Necklace: thrifted metallic clay bead necklace
Top: Kmart linen blend textured black tank
Jeans: thrifted Atmos&Here white straight leg jeans (new purchase)
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bagthrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

Couldn't pass up these pristine white straight legged jeans at the opshop for just $1! I prefer skinny jeans over straight leg jeans, and I already have a pair of white skinny jeans, but for $1 I was eager to try these. They are such a comfortable fit too.

For their first wear I went with the classic black tank and as I had a little bit of driving to do with errands, the school run, and more errands after picking the kids up from school, my comfortable New Balance sneakers. With the dark navy Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag too this definitely needed a little extra colour! The red waterfall cardigan was super cosy for a cold winter day and I love how much it brightened up the black and white outfit. It was just the right layer to make this linen blend tank warm enough for the cold morning too.

Last worn: red waterfall cardigan, blue beaded necklace, black linen tank, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag. First time I've worn the white jeans as they were a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearred waterfall cardigan and pencil skirt, black linen tank and leopard print, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag and floral dress.

Jacket: thrifted Dotti black cocoon cape cardigan
Scarf: thrifted pink ombre tassel scarf (new purchase)
NecklaceTiffany & Co pink double heart tag pendant necklace
TeeAtmos & Here white essential v-neck tee
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bagthrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

Another first wearing of a newly thrifted piece. I bought a few things in July! Since I liked the outfit combination above so much I wore something similar again the next week, this time with the black jeans and a white tee, and a black cardigan. The colour came from this awesome pink ombre tassel scarf. I have quite a lot of scarves, but couldn't walk past this one in the opshop for just $2! I really like the different shades of pink and how well they work with the black and white outfit.

Like above, it was another day of working from home and doing the school run, so comfortable Converse sneakers were perfect for that. I really liked this outfit. Except for the Converse and the white v-neck tee, everything was an opshop find! I've really been focusing on shopping preloved more often and adding a lot of thrift finds to my wardrobe over the past few years.

Last worn: black cocoon cardigan, Tiffany necklace, white v-neck tee, faded black skinny jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid satchel (above). First time I've worn the scarf as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearblack cocoon cardigan and leopard printwhite tee and midi skirt, faded black skinny jeans and blazer, black Converse and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid satchel and printed dress.

Printed Dresses With Boots and Rebecca Minkoff Cupid Bag

Getting my printed dresses out again for winter. While both these dresses have long sleeves, leggings and boots were a definite must have as they are quite light. I also had a slip on under each dress for extra warmth, and of course a jacket on top to keep warm.

What I wore:

thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Jacket: Jeanswest navy suede moto zip jacket
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chelsea' printed dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bagthrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

This navy suede jacket I got for Christmas I thought would be a lovely pairing with this navy tile print dress, but the jacket looks almost black here. It certainly kept me cosy in the cold morning though! I wore this for the school run and a quick errand, before working from home and picking up the kids again in the afternoon.

With the dark navy Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag, and the black ankle boots too, this felt like a really dark outfit, even with the white on the print of the dress. Good for this overcast winter day in Brisbane!

Last worn: suede jacket, blue printed dress, black ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid.

Other ways to wearsuede jacket and jeans, blue printed dress and blush blazerankle boots worn 30 ways, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid and jumper.

What I wore:

Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
NecklaceTiffany & Co pink double heart tag pendant necklace
DressZaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger
ShoesAsos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bracelets: the usual plus Mimco gunmetal twisted bracelet stack
Bagthrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

Unlike the outfit above, this is a lot more colourful! This dress hasn't been worn in a while so was definitely due a repeat wear, and I really like it with leggings underneath. I had to double up the sleeves a bit of get this denim jacket on top - the dress has long statement sleeves, that is sadly hidden by the jacket, but I needed the extra warmth from the jacket, especially on the cold morning.

With the comfortable and cosy tall leather boots as well, this was a great outfit for family fun day at church. The kids had a blast enjoying all the yummy food, playing games, and bouncing around on the jumping castle after the service. It was very difficult to pull them away to head home!

The Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag, that I still haven't stopped using and loving since I thrifted it, was perfect for storing all my essentials plus our water bottles for the day.

Last worn: denim jacket, Tiffany necklace, mustard floral dress, tall leather boots, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid satchel (above).

Other ways to weardenim jacket worn 30 ways, mustard floral dress without a jackettan leather boots worn 30 ways, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid satchel and jeans.

What I Bought In July & How I've Worn It

I feel I have been doing a lot of shopping this year! While I didn't buy anything in June, I added to my wardrobe in July, just like I did in March, April and May. And I added quite a lot this past months! With the preloved markets stalls I've had I've also cleared out a lot from my wardrobe, and I feel I've made some really wise buys to replace some of the things I've let go.

What I Bought in July:

  • thrifted Atmos&Here white straight leg jeans
  • thrifted no label floral print babydoll dress
  • thrifted colourful geometric print maxi dress
  • thrifted Kmart turquoise linen shorts (no wears yet, until it warms up!)
  • thrifted pastel Paisley print cape (no wears yet, until it warms up!)

Why I Bought It:

Actually bought a couple pieces new this month! The majority of my purchases have been preloved through the year, but I couldn't resist picking up a tour tee from my favourite band. The Cle the Label items were on super sale so I thought I'd give the brand a try, however I don't think I'll be buying more from them in future. As good as the organic cotton is as a material, I haven't found anything about the people in their supply chain and if they have fair wages, so they were a bit of an impulse buy I was maybe too hasty on. The two pieces I got are good basics, but I really need to be more thoughtful about where my money goes when I buy retail. Kmart is good for a bargain, but despite improvement isn't yet paying a living wage either.

With the decluttering at home, of everything from books to pieces from mine and the kids wardrobes, I've been visiting the opshop more frequently, so of course I couldn't resist a couple of browses through the clothes and picked out a few things for myself. While they are impulse buys, I'll never turn down a Rebecca Minkoff opshop find, and I did try to stick to thrifting pieces I knew would work with the goals I have for my wardrobe this year. I've been focusing more on shopping preloved as I know it's more environmentally friendly. More budget friendly too!

How I've Worn It:

As you can see, I've been buying a lot of basics! And that Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag has been a firm go-to since I practically danced out of the opshop with it. Such an amazing find. To prevent this post just being a huge wall of photos, i tried to only share times I'd worn the bag with other new pieces I bought this month.

I haven't worn some of the summer pieces I bought. While I could make the dresses work with a few layers, the cover up and shorts are going to have to wait until winter weather leaves us in Brisbane. Not too long until spring arrives though!

This is the biggest shopping month I've had this year, with 14 items purchased, which is a lot to purchase all at once. Not everything has met my goal of being worn twice in the month I bought it, as I did buy some summer pieces, and July only had so many days to wear so many new buys. I'm confident everything I bought will be a wardrobe staple though. Even with the opshop finds I was trying to be really discerning with what I added to my basket. At only $1 per item of clothing at my local opshop it can be hard to not buy everything I like!

My wardrobe has changed a lot this year, but I'm putting thought into it. With going back to work full time, and having regular days in the office each week so I'm working from home less, it's been a good year to have re-evaluated my wardrobe and to have made a few changes. Even if I have donated or sold on pieces I didn't hit 30 wears with, I'm trying to make sure everything I buy is something I'll want to wear 30 times or more.

Excited to come up with more outfits from these new additions to my wardrobe!

Black And Pink Outfits With Converse, Printed Jeans and Rebecca Minkoff Cupid Bag

Continuing to layer up my jeans for winter in Brisbane, with these printed skinny jeans and Converse outfits. While they both look different, both are made up of black and pink (with a little blue and navy in the first outfit too).

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest navy suede moto zip jacket
Necklace: thrifted pearl and heart charm long necklace
Tank: Kmart linen blend textured black tank (new purchase)
Jeans: Portmans pink leopard print skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bag: thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

Nice and colourful for a Monday morning school run and working from home! I often wear these pink leopard print skinny jeans with black, so it made sense to pair my new textured linen top with them. Being black you can't really see the texture in the photos sadly, but it is a great staple tank and it's sure to get a lot of wear as it layers up so well for our cooler weather. I added the suede jacket on top too, to keep me cosy. First time I've gotten it out this year, after getting it for Christmas. Being suede I was a little hesitant to take it out for the first time, but so far so good, worn it a few times and no damage to it, it's not as delicate as I thought!

Added a little extra colour to this outfit with the blue Converse, and the big Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag because I've hardly stopped using it since I thrifted it. Being a really dark deep navy I felt it worked well with the black tank and the navy suede jacket.

Last worn: heart charm necklace, pink leopard print jeans, blue Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid. First time I've worn the suede jacket on the blog as it was a Christmas present, and first time I've worn the linen tank as it was a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearpink leopard print jeans and blazer, blue Converse and dress, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid and stripes.

What I wore:

Earrings: thrifted red dinosaur skeleton earrings
Jacket: thrifted Dotti black cocoon cape cardigan
NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
Cami: thrifted Kmart dusty rose cami
JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

These chevron print Sass and Bide jeans are another pair I have worn a lot of black with, so the cosy black cocoon cardigan was a good choice to make this spaghetti strap cami a little more weather appropriate for a winter kids birthday party. I've tried a few different prints with these jeans over the time I've owned them but I really think plain block colours, like in this outfit, work so much better with them. I was really comfortable in this outfit.

I did add the red dinosaur skeleton earrings for a little pop of colour but they are a bit hard to see! Again I went with Converse, as we had a bit of driving to get to the party, it was at an indoor play area we hadn't been too before. Such a fun party though! The Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag was stuffed to the brim with my usual minimal essentials, and then some bottles of water for us.

Last worn: cocoon cardigan, dinosaur earrings, feather necklace, pink cami, chevron print jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag (above).

Other ways to wearcocoon cardigan and white denim, pink cami and skirt, chevron print jeans worn 30 ways, black Converse and dress, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag with jeans and jumper.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

Jeans and Jumper Outfits With Striped Scarves and Rebecca Minkoff Cupid Bag

It's turning into regular winter weather in Brisbane, where knits are becoming a staple for me! I've paired both of these thrifted knits with some other more recent opshop finds, for some working from home and school run days.

What I wore:

thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue | awayfromblue

Earrings: thrifted red dinosaur skeleton earrings (new purchase)
Scarf:  Fashion Scarf Girl black and white thick and thin mix print scarf
Knit: thrifted Forever 21 wine ribbed knit jumper
Jeans: Jeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bag: thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

The tiny little red dinosaur skeleton earrings are hard to see in these pics but they are oh so cute! I stumbled across them at the opshop the same time I saw this beautiful vintage cupid bag, and I knew my boys would love them. I liked the little pop of red it added to the burgundy knit, even if it doesn't stand out in photos that much.

The burgundy knit was perfect for the early morning school run and staying cosy while working from home. I added the scarf to add a little more interest to the outfit, but but the afternoon, we had a couple of errands to run after school, and I'd decided the scarf wasn't needed after all. I did like the mixed stripes against the burgundy, it just warmed up a lot that afternoon!

Last worn: wine knit, striped scarf, grey skinny jeans, Adidas superstar sneakersFirst time I've worn the dinosaur earrings and Rebecca Minkoff cupid bag as they are recent opshop finds.

Other ways to wearwine knit with skirt, striped scarf with purplegrey skinny jeans worn 30 ways, Adidas superstar sneakers and shorts.

Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl zesty stripe tassel scarf in pink
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bag: thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

Another thrifted knit, striped scarf and jeans combination! It is just so comfortable for working from home and for doing the school drop off and pick up! While this cobalt knit is a nice way to add some colour to the faded black skinny jeans, the pink and red stripes in the scarf were such a fun pop against the cobalt I couldn't resist picking this scarf to add a little more colour. Unlike the scarf in the first outfit too, this one was needed all day to keep me warm.

Again I went with sneakers, as we had a couple errands to run after school pick up.

Last worn: striped scarf, cobalt knit, faded black jeans, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff cupid bag (above).
