Thrifted pieces are things I pick up when browsing through the opshops (aka charity shops or thrift shops depending on where you live). For the preloved pieces I find online on gumtree and ebay, I don't class them as thrift finds, as I didn't go rummaging through pieces in person. I search online listings from people selling preloved pieces to make more space in their wardrobes, so it's more second hand shopping than thrift rummaging. I'm lucky to have found a lot of handbags this way at bargain prices!
Jacket: thrifted digital print no label kimono
Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Tee: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoes: thrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: thrifted Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr Q Convertible clutch in electric violet (with Balenciaga part time bag strap)
What I wore:

Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoes: thrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: thrifted Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr Q Convertible clutch in electric violet (with Balenciaga part time bag strap)
Why I wore it:
Everything in this outfit is thrifted! I wanted to set myself a challenge with this theme and see if I could pull together an entirely thrifted outfit for a morning playdate in the park and a stop at the library in the afternoon. It was easier than I thought! The bag was a splurge at Vinnies at $65, but when I walked in and saw an authentic Marc by Marc Jacobs bag sitting there I wasn't going to say no! That colour! I had swapped out the currently oh-so-trendy short shoulder strap for a longer Balenciaga crossbody strap though from my Balenciaga part time bag. The denim shorts were another Vinnies find, at $7. The necklace, grey tunic and printed kimono were all picked up at my favourite opshop, where clothing is just $1. I paid $2 for the necklace there, I love the pretty blue shades in it. The shoes were a lucky find at another opshop, I was so sure that they wouldn't fit as I never find shoes in my size when thrifting but I really scored with these, they were just $3.
Much like all my outfits, the most expensive part of it is the bag! But bag aside this whole outfit comes to $13 ($78 including the bag) which is a lot less than all of the pieces would retail for! Part of the reason I love opshopping, you never know what you will find but it's sure to be a bargain!
Last worn: printed kimono, blue lozenge necklace, grey tunic tee, distressed denim shorts, Adidas superstar sneakers, Marc by Marc Jacobs convertible clutch bag.
Other ways to wear: printed kimono and orange cami, grey tunic tee and culottes, distressed denim shorts and striped tee, Adidas superstar sneakers and dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs convertible clutch bag and printed jeans.
My Latest Opshop Finds:
What I wore:
Necklace: thrifted red flat bead necklace
Tank: thrifted Target mixed print colourful printed tank
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
Shoes: thrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag
Why I wore it:
Like the first outfit, everything here was previously owned before it ended up in my wardrobe! The Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag was an ebay find that I fell in love with and very strongly hinted to hubby that I wanted for Mother's Day. Although it wasn't quite as described I still love it and I like how it works with the deep orange of the maxi skirt. This Target mixed print tank was a lucky $1 opshop find, and like the blue necklace above the red statement necklace was a $2 buy too. The ochre maxi skirt was an incredibly lucky find and just $4. I'd wandered into a little local opshop I don't always have great success in and managed to find 2 maxi skirts at just $4 each, this being one of them. I adore it and I'm so glad I stumbled on it! The thrifted Adidas Superstar I wore above too.
I like wearing this orange skirt with a lot of blues and stripes and other neutrals, so it was good to try somethign a little different and wear this brightly coloured thrifted tank with it. Nice and colourful for a busy morning with a stop at the post office and then some time at the playground with the boys during the school holidays, before working from home and then sports in the evening.
Last worn: printed tank, red statement necklace, ochre maxi skirt, Adidas Superstar sneakers (above), Rebecca Minkoff sky grey mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: printed tank and maxi skirt, ochre maxi skirt and band tee, Adidas Superstar sneakers and floral dress, Rebecca Minkoff sky grey mini MAC and yellow.

You find such great deals thrifting! I think it's a great way to save money and it's much better for the environment. Definitely a win-win!

I have been lucky to find so many great opshops locally that have a lot of bargains! :)
DeleteMica, I love that you were able to create two really great outfits with all preloved pieces! I mentioned in my post that I wanted to show how you can do exactly that...create complete outfits with all secondhand pieces. I know some people who even curate their entire wardrobes with only preloved pieces. Both of these outfits are so cute and I love that you find many of your favorite designer handbags preloved as well!

I have definitely been shopping preloved more often but I still have a lot of retail buys in my wardrobe - not sure I'll ever hit 100% preloved but I am on my way to have bought nothing but preloved pieces so far this year!

Yes I've been frequenting opshops more often the past few years and it's definitely made it easy to pull together outfits for this challenge - I was overwhelmed with choice in fact!
DeleteWell done on assembling these two entirely thrifted/pre-loved outfits, Mica!
ReplyDeleteThat second outfit really makes my heart sing. That ochre maxi skirt was such a great find! xxx
It was an incredibly lucky find!
DeleteYou found nice clothes at the thrift shop Mica. I like both outfits on you!
ReplyDeleteYou do great with the thrift and preowned finds. Alas, they don't really have a good selection for someone my size, so I don't do the whole thrift thing. But whatever works, right?
ReplyDeleteThey have some awesome opshops near me that split up all the clothing into sizes so it's easy to browse! :) Hope you can find a store like that!
DeleteI love that so much of your wardrobe is thrifted, Mica - you're such a good example to your readers, and I'm sure to people in your everyday life. Great deal on the Jacobs bag!! I love the Mini Mac too (great colour), and am glad your hubby took the hint, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteHe is very tolerant of my handbag habit, which I appreciate! In return I am happy for him to amass large quantities of Lego, haha!
DeleteMe encanto el primer outfit, saludos:D
ReplyDeleteThese are both beautiful outfits and I love that they are thrifted. So much good finds out there and you did such a great job finding these for such a steal. I also adore that MJ bag. The color is scrumptious!

I couldn't believe it when I saw that beautiful colour - was so thrilled to see it was authentic too, definitely a good buy!
DeleteMy shopping goal for May is to buy only thrifted! I just added up my March and April clothes and will write that recap post this afternoon.
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
That is a great goal to have! So far this year I've only bought preloved and thrifted so I'd love to see if I can keep that up all year!
DeleteYou're sure are the thrifting queen. You have find so many nice piece thrifting.

I love both of these looks, Mica! Way to go with the pre-loved wardrobe. I almost always have at least one pre-loved item in my outfits. I intend to increase that number.

Such a good goal to have! I've been decreasing the retail buys I add to my wardrobe and focusing on preloved more!
DeleteI love the duster/kimono - it looks super over your jean shorts. Jacqui x
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments :)
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect timing because, yesterday, I just bought my first in-person thrifted things since 2020 (I think!)! Finding a great score like your Marc Jacobs bag is definitely The Best!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun challenge! I love these thrifted looks--you found some great things! I especially love that kimono!
ReplyDeleteWOW you found some great pieces in both outfits. I particularly love the first outfit where everything is thrifted and it's a steal and totally something I would wear head to toe. The kimono and sneakers and bag, especially. Also, interesting that these thrift shops are called opshops there.
ReplyDeleteWelcome by the blog. I had a long break but I came back with a very special post, check it out!
Wishing you a lovely week, Mica. =)
So many fabulous finds! And such a great way to save money too :)
