Weekday Wear Linkup: International Flight Style!

If you've been following along on Instagram you'll know I've been travelling a bit lately! This family holiday has taken an epic amount of planning and is the first international flight for the boys. It's been interesting and exhausting and so much fun!

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm sharing my international flight style, as well as what I've packed in my hand luggage for making the journey.

What I wore:

international flight style brisbane to edinburgh stripe duster louis vuitton luggage olive jeans converse | awayfromblue

away from the blue Instagram | international flight style Striped duster olive jeans black tee louis vuitton scarf luggage
Jacket: Kmart striped maxi cardigan
ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
TeeAtmos & Here black essential v-neck tee
JeansJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere / Louis Vuitton Keepall 45 / Antler Blue large luggage

Why I wore it:

I was a perfect mix of excited and nervous with the first big international flight for the boys. I've taken them to Sydney before, but this was a combined 26 hours on 3 different planes over a few days, and a much bigger trip than we've ever done with kids.

Stuck with comfortable favourite pieces! A striped duster as an easy cover up that never creases, my cobalt Louis Vuitton shawl for a pop of colour and extra cosiness on the plane, a classic black tee that goes with everything and my olive skinny jeans. Converse as they are the most comfortable and none of the 4 airports we travelled through required me to remove them, so the laces weren't an issue.

I took two carry on items with me - my speedy bandouliere as my handbag and my Louis Vuitton keepall as my main bag. You can see what I carried with me in the video below.

The flights went quite well! We did a screen blackout for the boys 2 weeks before we flew. They sometimes get to watch an episode off Netflix a few times a week, but we stopped that completely so that they were completely obsessed with and entertained by the in-flight movies which worked well. I was also very pleased to see that they inherited their dad's stomach for flying and unlike me they did not get travel sick at all.

Last worn: striped duster, cobalt scarf, black tee, olive skinny jeans, Converse, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to wearstriped duster for a flight to Sydney, cobalt scarf and printed dress, black tee and pencil skirt, olive skinny jeans in the office, Converse in the snowLouis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and maxi dress.

Perfect for pregnancystriped duster in second trimester, Converse in second trimester, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere in third trimester.

Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere / Louis Vuitton Keepall 45

Why I wore it:

Wore the same scarf for a shorter trip - flying from Edinburgh to Paris where we had a few days in Disneyland! My carry on luggage was a bit fuller this time around, as we didn't check in any bags. I packed as lightly as I could and the outfit I wore for the plane was one I wore the next day too.

This Mickey Mouse tee I stumbled across in Uniqlo before we left while looking for a Disney tee for the boys, and I knew we had to all get matching ones! 😂 Because if you're going to go all out and wear matching character tees as a family, where else but Disneyland?! Mickey Mouse loved it!

Again I stuck with my Louis Vuitton scarf to keep me cosy and add a bit of colour with the black leather jacket and maxi skirt. Such a comfy travel outfit.

If you haven't been following along with the travels on Instagram I will be posting a bit more about them on the blog next week!

Last worn: leather jacket, cobalt Louis Vuitton shawl (above), black maxi skirt, Converse (above), Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere (above). First time I've worn the tee as it was a recent purchase.

Printed Scarves With Tees, Skinny Jeans And Balenciaga Part Time Bag

Since it was a milder autumn day when I wore these outfits, I added some printed scarves to my casual jeans and tee outfits, no extra layers needed. A scarf is a nice way to add a little more interest to an outfit.

What I wore:

navy geometric print scarf with burgundy slouchy tee grey skinny jeans | awayfromblue

Balenciaga black part time bag in crook of arm | away from the blue

awayfromblue Instagram | navy printed scarf, burgundy tee grey skinny jeans mum style
ScarfFashion Scarf Girl navy Geo print tassel scarf (c/o)
TeeAtmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine (similar in black)
JeansJeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Jeans and a tee, a SAHM staple for a day with the kids! We had a few errands to run and spent some time at the library and playgroup. A really relaxed day.

The outfit felt a little plain though so I added the navy printed scarf for a subtle extra colour, and it was a nice layer for autumn. Even if I ended up taking it off in the middle of the day!

Picked my Balenciaga part time bag to wear as I've been feeling I've been passing over them a lot lately in favour of smaller bags. I liked the size of this one as it easily handled everyone's water bottles, a change of clothes for the boys in case of accidents and some baby wipes.

Last worn: navy mixed print scarf, burgundy slouchy tee, grey skinny jeans, Havaianas, Balenciaga part time bag.

Other ways to wearnavy mixed print scarf and shorts, burgundy slouchy tee and maxi skirt, grey skinny jeans and navy blouse, Balenciaga part time bag and printed dress.

Perfect for pregnancyburgundy slouchy tee in second trimester, Balenciaga part time bag in second trimester.

What's In My Bag: Balenciaga Part Time Bag

What I wore:

coral tee, black nodbody denim siren skinny jeans, pink navy striped scarf Bal part time | away from blue

Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH | away from the blue

awayfromtheblue instagram | coral v-neck tee with pink striped scarf and black nobody denim jeans Balenciaga part time

TeeJeanswest Emily cotton v-neck tee in coral
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

I absolutely loved this outfit! I feel it looks a bit off in the photos because I decided to leave the tee untucked over the jeans when I'd normally tuck it in. These nobody denim skinny jeans are quite high waisted so I thought leaving the coral tee untucked was better.

This pretty striped scarf was a Christmas gift from my mum and I was excited to wear it. I wasn't sure how the blush in the print would work with the coral tee but I really liked the combination.

After a few stressful weeks, I had a fun day out shopping with my mum and the boys, getting a few more last minute must-haves off our list for our upcoming trip.

Last worn: coral v-neck tee, black skinny jeans, Havaianas (above), Balenciaga black part time bag (above). First time I've worn the scarf as it was a gift.

Other ways to wearcoral v-neck tee and maxi skirt, black skinny jeans and blazer, Balenciaga black part time bag worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancy: Balenciaga black part time bag in second trimester.

Printed Scarves Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Printed scarves are the perfect way to add a little extra touch to an outfit. Jeans and a tee is a mum staple, and if you pick plain block colour jeans or a tee then you don't need to worry about the print on the scarf clashing with anything. Such a simple way to accessorise in autumn.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Sleeveless Tanks And Colourful Pants: Business Casual Autumn Style

The best thing about autumn weather finally arriving in Brisbane is the ability to unpack some things from their storage boxes in the wardrobe! Jeans! Scarves! It's nice to have them out again after them being hidden away during the heatwaves.

Colourful pants add a bit of fun to a business casual outfit for the office. And even though one of these pairs is jeans rather than pants, they easily pass as pants in the office (and if they didn't would fit right in to everyone else in my office wearing blue jeans)!

What I wore:

olive pants in office printed tank black blazer part time bag | awayfromblue

TopJeanswest Florence print long line tank
JeansJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Totally stealing my boss's style here! This kind of outfit; skinny jeans, a nice top and a blazer, is one she wears frequently in the office in cooler weather. I love pairing neutral pieces with these olive pants so black was an easy choice, and this brown printed tank is an easy neutral to wear. I did feel the outfit was a little flat though so I wanted to add a necklace - decided to step out of my comfort zone a little more and try green with green again. I thought the darker green in this necklace worked well with the olive jeans.

Yes, these are the same jeans I wore last week! I've been thrilled to get them out again with the cooler weather.

Last worn: black jersey blazer, green statement necklace, printed button detail tank, olive jeans, black ballet flats, Balenciaga Part Time bag.

Other ways to wearblack jersey blazer and jeans, printed button detail tank and purple jeans, olive jeans and printed scarf, black ballet flats and a-line skirts, Balenciaga Part Time bag and denim shorts.

Perfect for pregnancyblack jersey blazer in third trimester, printed button detail tank in third trimester, black ballet flats in second trimester, Balenciaga Part Time bag.

BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

It's not the first time I've worn this tank with burgundy, I layered it up with a burgundy scarf for winter before. I really like the way to pastels in the print work with the burgundy pants. I decided to try something a little different and add this pretty pastel shimmer scarf on top too. it matches the pretty but impossible to see on photos peach pastel leaf print in the tank. I really liked the scarf and tank together. I don't usually wear so many pastels but I thought it really worked here.

I just picked a grey blazer to throw on and cover my shoulders in the office.

Got quite a few compliments on this outfit too. Mainly on the scarf, a pretty gift from my mum.

Last worn: shimmer scarf, leaf print tank, burgundy pants, camel flats, Balenciaga part time bag (above).

Other ways to wearshimmer scarf and orange dress, leaf print tank layered up for winter, burgundy pants and blush shirt, camel flats, Balenciaga part time bag and stripes.

Perfect for pregnancyburgundy pants in second trimester, camel flats in third trimester, Balenciaga part time bag in second trimester.

Colourful Pants Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Colourful pants are a nice alternative to classic black for the office, particularly if your office is business casual where you have more options with what you wear. If your office is really casual, you could even pass off colourful jeans as pants by dressing them up with a blazer.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Little Black Dresses and Scarves For The Office

Adding some scarves to little black dresses for the office, and sharing another Weekday Wear linkup!

What I wore:

black fit and flare dress with printed scarf and ballet flats for the office with Balenciaga part time bag | awayfromblue

silver bracelet stack, Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH | awayfromblue

awayfromblue Instagram | little black fit and flare dress for the office printed accessories and Balenciaga part time bag

ScarfFashion Scarf Girl grey tiny bird print scarf (c/o)
DressJeanswest tucked ponte black dress
ShoesWalnut Melbourne Ava White leopard ballet flats
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

It was a hot summer day when I wore this, and although it was a little cooler in the morning, the scarf wasn't really a necessary layer for warmth. Scarves are good at a couple of things: they add warmth to an outfit, add some colour to an outfit, or add a print to an outfit for a little more interest. The print this scarf adds to the monochrome outfit was a nice touch, but the main reason I wore it was to cover up my neck! After getting badly sunburned on the back of my neck over the weekend, I needed something to cover up the redness.

This sleeveless fit and flare dress is so soft and didn't irritate my sensitive skin, but the scarf was needed as an extra layer to cover everything up, as the neckline dips down in the back slightly.

Even with the fun bird print on the scarf, I thought this outfit was a little plain with the black dress and black Balenciaga part time bag together, so I added another print in with the leopard print ballet flats. I thought it worked well.

Last worn: bird print scarf, navy tassel earrings, fit and flare dress, leopard print ballet flats, Balenciaga part time bag.

Other ways to wearbird print scarf tied on bag, fit and flare dress over a tee, leopard print ballet flats and jeans, Balenciaga part time bag and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancyfit and flare dress in second trimester, Balenciaga part time bag in second trimester.

30 Ways To Wear: Balenciaga Part Time Bag

Dress: Leona Edmiston Jemima fern print dress
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Another scarf covering up my sunburned neck and shoulders! The ferns in the print on the dress are a lovely blush pink so I thought the hot pink scarf - while not matching - continued the pink theme nicely. Again I stuck with a classic black Balenciaga part time bag, and went with plain black ballet flats. The blush tassels on these earrings are a cute match for the fern print on this dress, so I just had to wear them together again.

I really liked this outfit, the scarf was such a fun pop of colour, even if it was too warm for the day and made me overheat a little when I popped out of the office to grab something at the shops in the afternoon.

Last worn: Leona Edmiston printed dress, gold tassel earrings, hot pink crinkle scarf, black ballet flats, Balenciaga part time bag (above).

Black Dresses For The Office Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A little black dress is an office classic. You can add some extra interest to your black dress with a fun printed scarf like in the first outfit. If your dress already has a print, you can accessorise it with a similarly coloured plain scarf like in the second outfit.

Bold Printed Dresses For The Office & Weekday Wear Linkup

Another Weekday Wear Linkup for you to join, and some office style. As much as a work wardrobe needs classic, neutral basic pieces you can turn to again and again, it's fun to introduce some bolder prints and colours too!

My work wardrobe has certainly changed a lot in the 10 years I've been at my current company, from neutrals and button up shirts to bright colours, statement necklaces and fun prints. The dresses I'm wearing below might be a bit too bold for a more formal, conservative office dress code, but work perfectly in a business causal office like mine.

What I wore:

ruby olive necklace with French Connection 'Woodblock wonder' panache dress and fran bag | awayfromblue

Fashion Scarf Girl Navy and Gold hair scarf tie in bow on Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue instagram | orange printed french connection sheath dress colourful statement necklace marc jacobs fran bag

NecklaceRuby Olive Art series long striped pod necklace
DressFrench Connection 'Woodblock wonder' panache dress in white/geranium rose
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

This orange dress is such a bold print and colour but it's perfect for our summer heat as it's linen, and the print disguises creases so it's perfect for a busy day of sitting at my desk in the office!

I added the colourful Ruby Olive necklace for a little extra colour, not that the dress needed much! I had another necklace in mind but I thought it was too much, this necklace seemed to work nicer with the orange print and it was a lovely way to remember my friend though the day, as she lost her cat the day before.

The Marc Jacobs Fran bag has been worn a few times with this dress, so I tried to change it up a little this time and wore the hair scarf tied in a bow on the handle, just a little point of difference from the last time I wore the dress and bag together.

Last worn: Ruby Olive necklace, hair scarf, orange printed dress, silver ballet flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag.

Other ways to wearhair scarf tied on wrist, orange printed dress and blazer, silver ballet flats and little black dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and wrap dress.

Perfect for pregnancyorange printed dress hiding an early baby bump, silver ballet flats in third trimester, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag in second trimester.

What's In My Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

What I wore:

NecklaceStarfish Project Veronica short yellow multi strand necklace
DressJeanswest ruffle neckline animal print dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

This dress has been in my wardrobe for years, although it's not been as frequently worn as others. You can see the first time I wore on on the blog back in 2012, in one of my early posts! It just goes to show that animal print will always be a classic you can pull out year after year.

It's not the first time I've worn this dress with the Marc Jacobs Fran bag, they have been a frequent combination over time, as I think the carob brown of the bag works well with the neutral colours in the print. With the camel flats too, I thought the outfit needed a little touch of colour with all of the neutrals, and this yellow statement necklace was the perfect touch.

Last worn: yellow beaded necklace, leopard print dress, camel flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag (above).

Other ways to wearleopard print dress and blush blazer, camel flats and wrap dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and burgundy pants.

Perfect for pregnancyleopard print dress hiding second trimester bump, camel flats in third trimester, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag in second trimester.

Printed Dresses For The Office Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A printed dress is such a fun office piece. You can pair it with neutral shoes and a bag to tone the print down, or cover it up a little more with a blazer if you are worried it might be too bold for your office environment. Alternatively, you can maximise the print with colourful statement necklaces and bolder handbag and shoe choices.

Peplum Tops, Pencil Skirts & Rebecca Minkoff MAB Tote | Weekday Wear Linkup!

It's the Weekday Wear Linkup, with some office style!

Keeping things simple for my return to work after a bit of a break, I stuck with an outfit combo I've worn before. Peplum tanks and pencil skirts, easy office style and just what you need after a few weeks leave over Christmas (I wore these mid-January).

What I wore:

black kmart peplum frill hem sleeveless tank pink polka dot pencil skirt | awayfromblue

bird print scarf accessorising Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB Tote bag in moon navy | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue instagram | black peplum tank with blush polka dot pencil skirt navy mab tote bag with scarf
Earrings: gifted Kmart navy tassel earrings
Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl grey tiny bird print scarf (c/o)
Necklace: Kmart navy and gold beaded tassel necklace
Tank: Kmart black sleeveless frill hem peplum tank (new purchase)
Skirt: Cotton On 'Mica' mesh spot skirt in dusty pink
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagRebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote in moon navy

Why I wore it:

Last time I wore this skirt I mentioned how much I wear it with black - the fuzzy polka dots just make black an obvious pairing! I thought the peplum tank and textured pencil skirt would be a fun combo, but still good for a busy day at work.

It was a bit of a weird day, with wind and rain forecast but also quite humid so I added this bird print scarf onto the handles of my Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag in case I needed it later with the rain. It actually started raining just after I took these photos!

With the black and pink, I decided to wear accessories that would match the navy bag for a third colour in my outfit. I loved the tassel earrings and tassel necklace together, both are Christmas gifts. Only downside was that the statement earrings kept catching on my braid. I have to remember to wear simpler pieces when I have my hair braided on the side like this!

Last worn: navy and gold tassel necklace, pink polka dot pencil skirt, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote bag. First time I've worn the peplum tank and scarf.

Other ways to wearpink polka dot pencil skirt in winter, black ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote bag and sheath dress.

Perfect for pregnancypink polka dot pencil skirt in first trimester, black ballet flats in second trimester, Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote bag in third trimester.

What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB Tote

What I wore:

Tank: Kmart navy bird print peplum frill hem tank
SkirtAtmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote in moon navy

Why I wore it:

Once again, repeating the outfit formula above as I liked it so much. This time around, with a printed tank and a plan pencil skirt. And a simpler hairstyle, as I picked grey tassel earrings to match the pencil skirt and the blazer I brought along for meetings. Like the outfit above, it was both a humid and rainy day so I didn't add the blazer for the pics, but it really dressed up the outfit in the office. A grey jersey pencil skirt and a grey jersey blazer together looks very formal, even with a fun printed peplum tank in the middle.

Picked a bright pink scarf to accessorise. This crinkle one didn't get any wear during the day with my blazer worn in the office aircon instead, but I loved how it popped on the bag!

Last worn: silver tassel earrings, coin pendant necklace, pink crinkle scarf, bird print tank, jersey pencil skirt, silver bow ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote (above).

Other ways to wearbird print tank and olive jeans, jersey pencil skirt worn two ways, silver bow ballet flats and little black dress, Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote in winter.

Perfect for pregnancyjersey pencil skirt in third trimester, silver bow ballet flats in third trimester, Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote in first trimester.

Peplum Tanks Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A peplum tank is a flattering option, and it is such a cute touch to have a little extra frill on a basic tank. Paired with a pencil skirt (with a blazer on top if needed to meet stricter office dress codes) it makes a simple feminine office outfit. You can go with something plain, or pick a printed tank for a little more interest and colour.
