The Mulberry Lily bag I'm wearing in the photos below is definitely very special! It was something I feel in love with in a magazine but it sold out online while I deliberated over getting it. My friend (who now has her own handbag consignment business!) managed to find one in the UK, and I confessed to my mum I wanted to get it. My mum and friend worked together and I got gifted this beautiful bag!
It is very delicate so worn sparingly, but always makes me smile when I do get it out for a wear. Looks stunning with a maxi dress too!
What I wore:
Necklace: statement silver plate necklace
Dress: Jeanswest 'Elodie' tie dye grey jersey maxi dress
Shoes: NineWest "Quicken" wedges in natural
Bracelets: the usual plus vintage charm bracelet
Bag: Mulberry Lily in maroon metallic suede leopard
Nails: OPI Koala Bear-y
Why I wore it:
As is typical for our Easter Sunday celebrations, I went with a maxi dress to wear to church. After church we had Easter lunch with the in-laws, a road trip down the coast and then Easter dinner and an Easter egg hunt with my family. A busy day!It was cooler in the morning so I grabbed the denim jacket, but it heated up into such a warm day I didn't need it on long.
This maxi dress is one I'm trying to reach 30 wears on and I'm so close, so I've been wearing it a lot, mostly casually. I went super casual with it last time I wore it. To dress it up this time around, I added my special occasion pieces: the beautiful leopard print Mulberry Lily, a pair of wedges and my very sentimental charm bracelet. Perfect outfit for a wonderful day.
I've never done an Easter egg hunt before, so seeing the boys have their first one was hilarious. Such a special memory.
Last worn: denim jacket, tie dye maxi dress, nude wedges, Mulberry leopard print suede Lily bag.
Other ways to wear: denim jacket and jeans, tie dye maxi dress layered for winter, nude wedges and little lace dress, Mulberry leopard print suede Lily bag and shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: denim jacket and little black dress, tie dye maxi dress in third trimester.
Mulberry Lily Review:
What I wore:
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
Shoes: Rebecca Minkoff Georgina studded gladiator sandals in blush
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch C/O JORD
Bag: Mulberry Lily in maroon metallic suede leopard
Why I wore it:
A rare night out! Some Church Online people were in town and there was a special barbeque hosted by one of the volunteers, for volunteers and their families. I did consider taking the boys, but as it was a little bit of a drive away and I wasn't sure how that would work with their bedtime routine, I left them at home with hubby and went out for the night myself.I'm pleased I did as the afternoon BBQ quickly turned into amazing conversations and I didn't get home until after 10pm (late night for this mum!). It was so good meeting people from Brisbane who also volunteer at Church Online, I've been a chat host there for 7 years this year so it's a big part of my life and so incredible to get to meet up in person. My friend from out of state flew in, as well as two of the Life Church Online pastors from the US, so it was really wonderful to spend time with them.
Wasn't so sure with my outfit though! I'd originally thought of wearing a black maxi dress, but decided at the last minute to switch to this blue one for a little bit of colour. We had an appointment in the morning to go to first, so I spent most of the day with my Louis Vuitton Neverfull and switched to the clutch for the evening.
I like blue and red together, but wasn't so sure about the leopard print with the geometric print on the dress. I think I should have stuck with my original black maxi dress choice! Still was comfortable and happy in this for the BBQ, even if I'm not as happy with how it looks in photos.
Last worn: blue printed maxi dress, studded gladiator sandals, Mulberry leopard print suede Lily bag (above).
Other ways to wear: blue printed maxi dress and mustard bag, studded gladiator sandals worn 30 ways, Mulberry leopard print suede Lily bag and jeans.
Perfect for pregnancy: blue printed maxi dress at 39 weeks.
Jersey Maxi Dresses Under $50:
How You Can Wear It:
There are so many different dress codes a maxi dress can work for. It's not too casual, and not too formal. It's a go-to for me, but to make it even more special you can pick out a fancy accessory or two, or add some wedges, to make it a little more dressed up than usual. A special statement bag like this printed Mulberry Lily is a great idea.

This bag is so gorgeous, Mica! I love the colour, pattern and style. It looks great with those two outfits and I'm sure it would look great with absolutely everything! Your nail polish complements the bag perfectly too! XXX
ReplyDeleteI thought that looking at the photos, but it's funny as my polish was pink and the bag is a true red, haha!
DeleteThis maxi dress is so chic! Loving the bag as well.

The first maxi dress is this post is one of my favorites that you own, and that's so great that you're close to 30 wears! Talk about a great purchase! Your bag is such a great accessory, too. Perfect way to complete a look!
ReplyDeleteGina || On the Daily Express
Yes it has been worn a lot! I'm hoping to squeeze in the final few wears soon!
DeleteThe maxi dresses are so pretty. I love how both of the styles look.
ReplyDeletehttp://sugarcoatedbears.blogspot.com/
What a pretty bag! I love the texture and colour. It looks great with both outfits - and I love that blue maxi! I'm glad you went with a colour instead of black.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila! It was good to try something different, and I didn't even think the prints were an issue together until I saw the photos!
DeleteI know I've said this a lot before but you have the most enviable collection of handbags ever! That Mulberry bag is beautiful!!

Yes they are great for so many occasions! :)
DeleteI am a maxi fan too. You look so great in both of these and yes such a cool bag.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday! Wow the bag is so beautiful! I agree it compliments the blue beautifully!...definitely a showstopper! I always adore your maxi collection. You inspired me last year to purchase one and I can't wait to wear it this season!
ReplyDeleteThe church online sounds exciting! Glad you had a wonderful time of fellowship! Have a blessed day!

Yes it was wonderful having that fellowship in person! I'm looking forward to seeing how you wear your maxi dress! :)
DeleteI can see why you use your Mulberry bag sparingly I would too! I actually decided to use each of my bags one week at a time and rotate to the next to get them all worn equally. I feel with the more pricier bags that I tend to shy away from because our city is so laid back. Not like when we use to live in the Bay Area and everyone carried a name brand bag. Maxi dresses are my favorites too. So easy to wear and I like that the skirt is full length so no problem with worrying about bending down. I love both of your dresses. Both colors are nice and perfect for Summer!
ReplyDeleteMaureen | www.littlemisscasual.com
I try to rotate through my bags often too, probably to justify having so many as well as wanting them all to age gracefully, haha!
DeleteYou have some great maxi dresses--I really need to build my collection. That is great that you got to have a night out, sometimes you have to do that for yourself! I'm glad you had fun at the BBQ! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it's so rare to happen so to have done it twice this year is even rarer, haha! It was good to have that opportunity!
DeleteThis bag is so cute and is a perfect accessory to complete your look. I'm loving that dress too - you look stunning!!

Your new bag is so cute! I am always buying things after they've sold out and tracking them down... maybe if you have to work to find it you appreciate it more? Maybe? Or your just a crazy person, haha. But it was so lovely of your friend and mom to get the bag for you!
ReplyDeletehttp://iamchiconthecheap.com
haha I think there is a thrill to the hunt, definitely! I'm glad I was able to get this, it makes me smile every time I wear it, even if I am gentle to it and wear it sparingly!
DeleteLove these looks Mica! You know how to perfectly style your purses to your dress!

It must have been amazing meeting all these people, getting to know someone in person you have been talking to online is a great experience.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Linda, Libra, Loca
Yes, I really loved the experience! It was so nice to speak in person instead of behind a screen.
DeleteHi Mica! Wow, seems like you had a very busy week! I also watched the video review about that lovely Mulberry bag. Such a pity that it wears a lot. I noticed with the ones that I have that wear that it's usually due to wearing them with darker colors. So, I usually wear them with white or lighter garments and once I head home, if the material is suitable (definitely, not suede :( ), I would always grab a little wet towel and rub in gently.
ReplyDeleteThanks as always for dropping in on the blog and for your kind comment! :)
Have a nice week!

Yes I need to be extra careful with this because it's suede. I do love pulling it out for special occasions though! :)
DeleteIt's great that you were able to track down this bag. It really does look special! Sounds like you had an incredible night out. How wonderful that you were able to meet and chat with fellow volunteers and pastors.
ReplyDeleteIt was! Such a great experience! :)

Loving the tie dye maxi dress! Maxi dresses are so comfy and like you said, easy to wear! Tie dye is probably the best print for them too. Or paisley. Such lovely outfits as always.

Mica, both outfits are cute... if I had the same kind of heat here as you do there... I'd live in dresses too, so that I could cool my legs.

I have only worn it a handful of times, I'm trying to wear it more often as it's beautiful, but it's so delicate too so I won't get to wear it much with the boys being around all the time while they are so young, haha!
DeleteThat's such a pretty bag you got there babe. Love the leopard print, really chic!
