Printed Maxi Skirts and Denim Jackets With Amerii Rattan Sling Bag

Enjoying some warmer than usual winter days with my maxi skirts and denim jackets, and my new Amerii straw bag.

Amerii contacted me through YouTube a while ago and asked if I wanted to try one of their bags in exchange for a review - I was thrilled and had fun picking out this piece to try.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a busy day! Church and then a little shopping at Kmart for things for our pantry reorganisation. Now we are all moved into our new house, we are just trying to set up everything how we like it, it's slow but fun progress! As it was slightly warmer when I wore this back in June, I just needed a denim jacket and no scarf.

With the black rattan bag, I thought a black tee and black ankle boots matched nicely and worked well with the colourful blue denim jacket and red printed maxi skirt. This skirt is a summer favourite, but it layers up well for a warmer winter day like this.


Last worn: denim moto jacket, pearl tassel necklace, black scoop neck tee, red printed maxi skirt, black ankle boots. First time I've worn the bag as it's a recent addition to my wardrobe.

Why I wore it:

When we had that brief period of summer like weather back in the middle of June, despite it being winter, I took full advantage and the boys and I headed to our favourite playground to enjoy the sunshine. I also got the chance to wear this side-split maxi skirt, which usually I wouldn't be pulling out on a winter day!

The denim jacket wasn't really necessary, I ended up taking it off as we sat in the sunshine - it was 27° Celsius, so about 82 Fahrenheit. So unexpected for winter!

The mustard yellow tee seemed like a colourful choice for the warmer day, and was a fun pop with the white stripes. Again I stuck with the black ankle boots to match the black round rattan bag. I really liked this outfit.

How You Can Wear It:
Maxi skirts are a summer staple and great for mum life, especially if they are loose and flowy or have a side split to take advantage of a summer breeze. It's easy to layer them up for cooler weather too, with ankle boots and denim jackets. You definitely need more heavy duty layers if you're attempting to wear them on a cold winter day though! 😂

Why I wore it:

Wore this to take the boys to a local indoor play area, as it had been raining overnight and was predicted to rain more so we couldn't head to the park, but they needed to run around a bit. I picked an easy and comfortable outfit, with my green skinny jeans that have become a frequent go-to this winter, my favourite (and only!) snood and my Converse. The grey knit is one I thrifted before our Europe trip and took overseas with me, it worked well with my olive jeans so I wanted to try wearing it with these brighter green ones. I really liked this combination.

I'd been wearing my Rebecca Minkoff love cross body bag that week so decided to keep wearing it with this outfit, I thought the neutral grey went nicely with the knit.

Why I wore it:

Despite following a similar outfit formula, I didn't like this second outfit as much as the first one. I thought the olive skinny jeans would go nicely with this fun foil polka dot print knit, and I did like the combination, especially when I matched the foil polka dots with the silver glitter shoes for a very sparkly outfit. You know I like a bit of matchy-matchy!

With the silver sparkle and then the pop of colour with the coral Rebecca Minkoff small love bag, I felt that this outfit was enough as it was and I didn't add a scarf to it. It was a warm day, sitting in the sunshine at the playground, and I was glad I hadn't added the scarf as I didn't really need it.

I did feel that this outfit was missing a little something when I looked at the photos afterwards though, and wish I had added a scarf, I think the first outfit looked great because of the printed snood. A nice outfit, just one that feels a bit flat in the pics.

Matching Shoes and Bags: Atmos&Here Lola Ankle Boots With Skinny Jeans, Tees and Printed Scarves

Should you match your shoes to your bag? This is an old fashion 'rule' that seems to be rarely followed nowadays! I mostly have neutral shoes and bright bags, but when I do stumble across a matching pair of shoes and bag, it's fun to wear them together like I have below, with my tan ankle boots and Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag.

These Atmos&Here Lola tan ankle boots are new ones I purchased recently to replace my old ones that literally fell to pieces when I pulled them out of storage this autumn.

Why I wore it:

I couldn't resist making all my accessories match in this outfit! With the bright red skinny jeans I thought the matching neutral tan ankle boots and MAB camera bag would be a good combination. The scarf was needed to keep me warm on a cooler Sunday morning as we went to church, and I think the leopard print, while not an exact match, compliments the bag and ankle boots nicely!

I kept everything else in my outfit neutral to let the red jeans shine - while I've never worn this particular black tee with the grey cardigan before, grey and black are colours I like wearing with these red skinny jeans.

Why I wore it:

Another very similar outfit combination to the one above! Again I stuck with a cosy cardigan, printed scarf, black tee and bright skinny jeans, accessorised with my matching tan ankle boots and Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag.

With the bright green skinny jeans being such a burst of colour in my outfit I went with a plain black tee, similar to the outfit above. I added in another colour with the navy waterfall cardigan and geometric print scarf though. Such an easy outfit formula!

I really like the way the matching tan bag and shoes worked with the green and blue in the outfit, they are a nice neutral combination and this made for a simple outfit for a day with the boys, running errands and visiting the library and the playground.

If you have a pair of shoes that match a handbag, why not wear them together? You can add extra accessories like a scarf to your outfit to tie in the matchy-matchy even more, or use the matching shoes and bag to 'bookend' a colourful outfit like I have in the second outfit.

Two Ways To Wear Grey Kmart Leopard Print Tee In Winter

I saw this leopard print tee in Kmart and was tempted to buy it, at just $9. I decided I didn't need another grey tee though and put it back. When I stumbled across it again at just $2, I knew I had to get it! It's so soft and the leopard print is nice and subtle, it's so easy to wear! I've worn it two different ways below.

Such a simple mum outfit: jeans, a tee, and Converse. Easily made suitable for winter with a cosy cardigan on top. To make this outfit a little more interesting, I went with bright green skinny jeans. While not as cheap as the leopard print tee, they were an opshop find and so also affordable, at just $5.

The green jeans and navy cardigan are a colour combination I often wear together, and I thought they complimented the neutral grey tee nicely. An easy outfit for a day at the playground and the library with the boys.

Why I wore it:

A busy day meant another easy outfit for mum life - this maxi skirt is a firm favourite, and the grey leopard print tee with it created a rather monochromatic outfit, especially with the leather jacket. I needed the jacket in the cooler morning but with a day of rushing around to appointments, it came off before lunchtime.

This outfit wasn't as colourful as the first one, so I couldn't resist adding a little extra colour to this with the mustard Rebecca Minkoff mirco Regan bag. Such a fun pop of colour!

Layering Maxi Dresses For Winter With Tees, Leather Jackets and Ankle Boots

I like to wear my dresses year-round, and an easy way to change up the look of a dress is by adding a tee on top. In winter it's an extra layer of warmth too! I'm wearing a frequent favourite maxi dress and a sparingly worn one for two different tee over maxi dresses looks.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for my eldest boy's birthday party! Crazy to think he's 5 years old now! We celebrated at an indoor play area with his kindy friends - nice and easy party as I didn't have to entertain a room of kindergarteners or clean up after them 😂

For something a little different, with all the animal print skirts that are around at the moment, I decided to give this pretty maxi dress a wear. It's definitely much too glam for a kids birthday party (I've worn it before to a wedding) but dressed down with ankle boots and a plain tee I thought it worked nicely as a skirt. I really liked this outfit, even if the dress as a skirt did slide down a bit - I think a belt is needed to keep it in place next time, I just wore it with the halter neck around my waist so it didn't show under the tee.

It felt a bit monochromatic for a birthday party, so I added a little extra colour with the blush tassel necklace and purple mini MAB tote bag.

Why I wore it:

This dress is one I can't wear in the middle of winter, the little crochet gaps between the tiers make it a bit too chilly on a cold day, but for a cold morning and warmer day it was perfect. I wore this out to church and actually ended up taking the leather jacket off in the afternoon as it was too warm.

I like wearing this tee over maxi dresses, so although it's the first time I've worn this tee and dress together it's not the first time I've layered this tee over a dress. It's supposed to be a cropped style, but being petite it hits as the perfect point for me so it makes it easy to wear over a long dress!

The little Rebecca Minkoff love bag I wanted to get out for another wear. Usually just a special occasion / night out bag, I thought it would look good with the coral print on this maxi dress, even if it's more peach than pink. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my new smaller wallet fits in this bag so expect to see it worn more often now I don't have to worry about taking things out of my wallet to swap into the bag when I use it.

In summer a maxi dress is a nice easy all-in-one outfit option. You can layer a maxi dress up for cooler weather too, adding a tee on top for more warmth as well as a leather jacket and ankle boots. A few more layers than you need in summer, but still quite an easy outfit to pull together.

Winter weather means getting my fun collection of colourful denim out to enjoy! A simple striped tee and jeans outfit is easy mum style, with a cosy cardi on top for Brisbane's cold winter mornings.

Why I wore it:

I really struggled with what to wear when I pulled this outfit together! We had a messy play morning booked in for the boys, and I had some older clothes for them to wear. For me it was a little harder as I didn't want to get anything dirty 😅

Went with these green jeans as they are an opshop find and so not an expensive loss if they were ruined, this wool cardi that's already starting to look a little old and a striped tee to disguise any possible paint spills 😂 The Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere is waterproof and easy to wipe clean so that was an obvious choice.

The boys had a fun time and although they were covered in the fake 'mud' I managed to keep my outfit clean! There was none of the paint there was last time that refused to wash out of their clothes.

Felt like it had been a while since I'd worn this striped tee, so got it out for another wear. With purple jeans for something different, and the blush pink Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag as I like pink and purple together. Easy outfit for a cooler day.

Continuing on with catching up with everyone after our Europe trip, I joined my mum friends for a rare night out. The last one we had was last year! It was good to dress up a little, but I wanted to keep things simple. Jeans and a nice top is a staple "I don't know what to wear" outfit, and was perfect for our dinner date.

The pastel cami is a piece I got from one of my sister's wardrobe clear outs. It was a nice combination with my pale denim moto jacket (a recent purchase) and a nice contrast with the black denim jeans. Of course I couldn't resist matching the blue in the denim jacket with the beaded necklace and the statement earrings. I do love a little matchy-matchy! That's why I picked my metallic Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag to wear too, to match the silver hardware on the jacket.

Why I wore it:

I was eager to wear this neon orange cami that my mum bought for me in the sales. My sister was buying the black one, and mum knows how much I love colour so thought I'd like this orange one. I love it so much! It has a great strappy back that I'll hopefully get to show off after winter!

A colder day meant I wore a similar outfit combo to the one above but swapped the denim jacket for a cosy wool maxi cardigan. This was perfectly comfortable for church, and kept me warm. Even with the bright orange cami, I wanted to add a little more interest to the outfit with the bold statement necklace and the printed jeans. It made for a really fun outfit!

With all the colour and print, I thought the neutral Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag would be the best accessory. I like how the tan worked with the orange cami as well as the neutral black and grey.


Last worn: wool cardigan, Ruby Olive necklace, Sass & Bide jeans, black ballet flats (above), Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag. First time I've worn the cami as it's a recent addition to my wardrobe.

Other ways to wear: wool cardigan and printed scarf, Sass & Bide jeans with red cardi, black ballet flats and wrap dress, Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancy: black ballet flats in second trimester.

I'd normally do a separate post and video for this, but I only bought two things so I'm just adding it onto this post!

• A new pair of tan leather boots after the sole on my old ones disintegrated while being stored over summer. It was cheaper to buy new boots than get them resoled...
• An impulse buy $2 clearance Kmart leopard print tee.

Not expecting any purchases next month as I'll be doing #noBuyJuly again for the forth year in a row. Something I need as I've spent more this year than I expected to!
