Striped Tanks and Colourful Skinny Jeans With Rebecca Minkoff small Chevron Quilted Love Crossbody Bag

This is basically the autumn version of these outfits! I'm wearing these two striped tanks again, instead of maxi skirts this time I'm pairing them with colourful skinny jeans and a little bright Rebecca Minkoff small chevron quilted Love crossbody bag for a pop of colour.

You'll notice the shoes and bag are the same in both outfits - I wore these a couple days apart when I needed something simple and easy to wear without too much thinking, turns out when you are distracted by other things you end up repeating the basics multiple times!

What I wore:

burgundy skinny jeans with black and white striped tank and rebecca minkoff orange love crossbody bag | awayfromblue

burgundy jeans with orange bag Rebecca Minkoff chevron quilted small Love crossbody bag in pale coral | awayfromtheblue

Necklace:  thrifted pearl and heart charm long necklace
TankAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
Pants: Jeanswest Harper skinny pant in Russet
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagRebecca Minkoff chevron quilted small Love crossbody bag in pale coral

Why I wore it:

I had a rare luxury of a kid-free day off last week! I'd been in a training course most of the week for work which meant changing my work days around to suit the course, leaving me with my normal work day free and child care arrangements already in place. I was in a bit of pain with my knee so decided to change my plans a little and instead of a day at home I headed out for a luxurious relaxation massage. I wasn't sure about being out but figured it might be my last indulgence for a while so I took the opportunity.

I've been going to the physio regularly for my knee since I injured it late last year, but a relaxation massage is a lot gentler than the effective but not always pleasant techniques at the physio! Had a productive afternoon filming some more videos for my YouTube channel afterwards too.

With these burgundy jeans I thought the little peach Rebecca Minkoff chevron quilted love bag would be a great choice, and I just needed my wallet, phone and keys as I headed out. I really liked the orange and red together!

Last worn: black striped tank, heart charm necklace, burgundy skinny jeans, camel ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff chevron small love bag.

Other ways to wearblack striped tank and maxi skirt, burgundy skinny jeans with turquoise tank, camel ballet flats and a-line skirt, Rebecca Minkoff chevron small love bag and kimono.

Perfect for pregnancycamel ballet flats in third trimester.

What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Small Chevron Quilted Love Bag

What I wore:

Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
TankJeanswest 'Josie' striped back strap tank
Jeans: Jeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagRebecca Minkoff chevron quilted small Love crossbody bag in pale coral

Why I wore it:

Again, sticking with simple things! Another striped tank and pair of colourful jeans! I even wore the same shoes, although I did change the necklace this time. Wanted to be comfortable for the school run and it was a slightly cooler morning so I thought jeans would be a good choice again. The little peach Rebecca Minkoff love bag is something I've worn with these olive jeans before, I really like the green and orange combination! I carried the baby bag too for our water bottles.

Was a bit of a strange day when I wore this - after dropping my eldest off at school the youngest and I went out to the grocery store, we needed some more fruit and bread, nothing big. It was strange seeing some of the empty shelves and then while walking around my phone started blowing up with calls and texts with the news of the first of the office closures as a result of the COVID-19 virus. Which I'd been thinking would have been happening soon.

For the immediate time being, we are going to be putting social distancing in place - so we sat out on all our usual activities over the weekend, I think like many people across Australia. What that means for us this weekend and in the weeks to come I don't know. I also don't know how much I'll be in the office and how much I'll be working from home as it seems to change day to day!

If I'm not going out I'm not getting dressed into something other than lounge wear so I don't know what will happen blog-wise (at the moment I'll still have to do the school run at least) but there are bigger things in the world to focus on. I do have a couple more posts scheduled before I run out of outfit pics. The difficulty of sharing pics of what I actually wear I guess! I'll try keep this blog as light and fashion focused as I can - we all need a break and a bit of frivolity now and then.

3 Blue Dress and Pink Bag Outfits: Weekday Wear Linkup

Bit of a long post for today's Weekday Wear Linkup, sharing 3 outfits I wore recently with blue dresses and pink bags. Both things I have a lot of in my wardrobe, they pair so perfectly together!

A dress is an easy not too formal but not too casual outfit for a training day too, and that's why I wore these outfits to a training course for work.

What I wore:

Jeanswest 'Chelsea' boho peasant navy printed dress with tassel earrings pink Balenciaga city bag | awayfromblue

Balenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | blue boho peasant dress with pink Balenciaga sorbet city bag
Earrings: Kmart navy tassel earrings
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chelsea' printed dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bracelets: the usual plus Edenborough Evans 'Ivy' silver cuff
BagBalenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet (more affordable preloved)

Why I wore it:

I was surprised to see that I hadn't worn this dress and bag together before when I hunted through my blog archive. Both much loved pieces, I was sure I'd worn them together before!

I think the casual boho peasant style of the printed dress works really nicely with the slouchy pink Balenciaga city bag. The colour combo is great too!

Unfortunately these are not the shoes I wore. I've been taking pics in the morning with the shoes I've been wearing in the office and commuting in my daggy old sneakers to try reduce the pain on my knee. A frantic realisation we were out of bread for the kids breakfasts and a dash to the shops before breakfast and then trying to make it into the city on time, I'd forgotten to pick up the bag with these shoes to change into. Thankfully I made it to the course on time but I felt a bit out of place with the sneakers!

Last worn: boho printed dress, navy tassel earrings, tan ballet flats, Balenciaga sorbet pink city bag.

Other ways to wearboho printed dress and sneakers, tan ballet flats and jeans, Balenciaga sorbet pink city bag and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancyboho printed dress in second trimester, tan ballet flats in second trimester, Balenciaga sorbet pink city bag at 37 weeks.

Why I wore it:

Thankfully I remembered the bag with my shoes in it this time so I was able to wear these lovely ballet flats during the day! I really like the way all the accessories matched with the silver multi strand necklace, metallic ballet flats, and silver hardware on the Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag.

This blue Paisley print sheath dress is a firm favourite too and was what I wore to the first day of training, as I wasn't sure about the dress code. Something I've worn for important meetings and to be dressed down for casual Friday, this dress is so versatile! I like the way the pastel pink Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag went with the Paisley print too.

ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta (get it preowned!, and use code REAL for an extra 20% off!)

Why I wore it:

Another blue dress and another pink bag! This isn't even all my blue dresses or pink bags, I really do have a few! I liked the way this magenta Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag popped with the navy Ikat print dress.

Like the other blue dresses above, this is a favourite and I even took it to Europe with me last year.

Rather than wear a statement necklace I went with my Tiffany diamond necklace and the silver leaf earrings which are a perfect statement on their own, and added a little extra colour with the skinny lilac belt. This belt is an old one I rediscovered after finally finding the box of belts I'd hidden away in pregnancy a while back. Unfortunately being pleather, being stored in a box for years in the Queensland heat and humidity has not been kind to it and it actually disintegrated and snapped when I unbuckled it at the end of the day. Such a shame!

Navy Skirts And Printed Tees With Rebecca Minkoff Regan Bag

I've been wearing a lot of maxi skirts lately! They are a nice option for staying covered up but still cool in the hot and humid weather (even though it's officially autumn now in Brisbane!).

What I wore:

Necklace: blush pink and gold beaded tassel necklace
Tee: thrifted Kmart abstract blob print tee
Skirt: thrifted navy viscose drawstring no label maxi skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel Tote in moon

Why I wore it:

I've been looking at this thrifted printed tee in my wardrobe for a while realising it was overdue a wear, but I always picked something else to wear instead. This plain navy maxi skirt was the perfect pairing and let the tee be the statement in the outfit. The tee was thrifted for just $1 and the skirt was another thrift find at $4 making this a very affordable outfit!

The bag of course is on the more expensive side! This Rebecca Minkoff Regan is becoming a staple when I spend the day with my youngest while my eldest is in school. I can easily fit both our water bottles inside along with some wipes and hand sanitiser (and my phone and wallet of course) so it saves me also carrying a baby bag too. We had a busy morning but a relaxed afternoon at home before school pickup.

Last worn: abstract print tee, blush tassel necklace, navy maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag.

Other ways to wearabstract print tee and shorts, navy maxi skirt with stripes, Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag and pencil skirt.

What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Regan

What I wore:

Necklace: engraved interlinked silver circle family name necklace
Top: Primark Edinburgh white graphic tee
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
Shoes:slim navy and pink Havaianas
BagRebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel Tote in moon

Why I wore it:

I purchased this tee on our Europe trip last year while shopping in Primark in Edinburgh. I wasn't sure how much wear I'd get from it but it worked out to be around $5 so I couldn't resist! It's actually been getting a bit of wear since I bought it - being a lover of blue I find it works so well with a lot of my wardrobe and it's nice to try wear a little bit more white. Couldn't resist going matchy-matchy and pairing the navy and white graphic tee with the navy and white striped maxi skirt.

Even my Havaianas and my Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag were navy, a very matchy-matchy outfit for me! After the school run we did a quick grocery shop, and then running a few errands after school pick up.

Last worn: Edinburgh graphic tee, silver necklace, navy striped maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag (above).

Other ways to wearEdinburgh graphic tee and jeans, navy striped maxi skirt and denim jacket, Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag in the office.

How You Can Wear It:

Foil Print Tees and Maxi Skirts With Balenciaga First Bag

Easy outfits for hot days with a maxi skirt and tee. I decided to get these foil print tees out again, they are a fun twist on a classic plain tee but still so wearable. And based on some of the tops I saw in stores the other week, the foil print trend is still around!

What I wore:

Balenciaga first bag in 2006 Blue India with ochre maxi skirt | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram navy polka dot foil tee and ochre rust maxi skirt Balenciaga first bag

Tee: Jeanswest Flavia foil printed polka dot tee deep iris
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagBalenciaga first bag in 2006 Blue India

Why I wore it:

When I want to buy things I think of two ways to wear them right away. I knew I wanted to wear this ochre skirt with navy, blue and orange look so good together! I thought the gold foil polka dots tied in nicely with the rich colour of the skirt too. Can't believe this tee hasn't been worn in over a year! I definitely need to wear it more!

Couldn't resist adding a little extra colour to this with the turquoise necklace and the blue India Balenciaga first bag. I loved the way the addition of the third colour brought even more brightness to this outfit.

Only downside was that I realised while sitting at the sidelines of my son's tennis lesson that you could see the strapping of my injured knee through this skirt and it's not as opaque as I thought! Will be sure to keep that in mind for future wears!

Last worn: foil print polka dot tee, turquoise tassel necklace, ochre maxi skirt, New Balance sneakers, Balenciaga first bag.

Other ways to wearfoil print polka dot tee and shorts, ochre maxi skirt and stripes, Balenciaga first bag and pencil skirt.

Tee: Jeanswest Anika foil stripe tee in white and silver
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt

Why I wore it:

Although I just recently wore this foil stripe tee with shorts, I picked it out to wear again as it's so fun to wear with the foil print. It was perfect with the maxi skirt for church. With the white tee and black skirt I felt a little extra colour was needed so I decided to wear these fun neon peach tassel earrings I got for Christmas. Surprisingly I haven't given them a wear yet!

The turquoise Balenciaga first bag was another bright burst of colour with this outfit, and I really liked the little additional colour touches. I wore the same shoes I've been wearing for weeks since my knee injury before the new year, my daggy old running shoes! Did cringe a little when I saw a Grandad at church wearing very similar shoes 😂

Printed A-Line Skirts and Blazers With Balenciaga Part Time Bag: Weekday Wear Link Up!

For today's weekday wear linkup I'm wearing two pretty a-line skirts that don't get much wear on my stay at home mum days. They are perfect for my business casual office though, especially when dressed up with a blazer.

What I wore:

mustard print pleated skirt with turquoise tank and black accessories | autumn business casual outfit awayfromblue

Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH | away from the blue

awayfromblue Instagram | turquoise and pleated mustard print skirt and blazer autumn business casual office outfit with Balenciaga part time bag

Necklace: Roie Designs multi chain layered beaded necklace
Top: Jeanswest Vickie button back tank in enamel blue
Skirt: Garfunkle Australia pleated print skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

I wear a lot of neutrals with this pretty mustard, black and white printed pleated skirt. Black and greys go perfectly with it, but I decided to try something a little different and wear this bright turquoise tank. I really liked the combination! The turquoise and mustard felt a bit bright together so the black jersey blazer, black multi chain necklace and black Balenciaga part time bag were nice neutral pieces to add on top. I thought that the silver ballet flats were a nice choice with the silver studded hardware on the Balenciaga bag.

I rediscovered this necklace when I was setting up my new walk in wardrobe. It's been a long time since it's been worn, with it being a very attractive toy to grabby little babies and toddlers meaning I haven't even thought about it for a few years! It was perfect for this busy day in the office, I love a good statement necklace. Even if the little one did have a bit of a play with it in the afternoon, it survived! It's been so long since I last wore it I can't even find it on the blog to link to it.

Last worn: jersey blazer, turquoise tank, mustard pleated skirt, silver ballet flats, Balenciaga part time bag.

Other ways to wearjersey blazer and midi dressturquoise tank and jeansmustard pleated skirt and peach cami, silver ballet flats and band tee, Balenciaga part time bag worn 30 ways.

Tank: MEV Britney bubble tank in mood indigo C/O
SkirtFrench Connection silk leaf print skirt
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Unlike the outfit above, this one isn't really trying new things! I've worn this pretty green beaded necklace with this silk leaf print skirt quite a few times, it's a nice bit of matchy-matchy with the print on the skirt. In fact this whole outfit is the autumn version of this winter outfit. I'm just wearing bare legs instead of tights, a navy blue tank instead of a cobalt knit, and a cropped boucle blazer instead of a trench coat.

I really liked this outfit! I think the navy tanks works so well with all the black and with the green in the skirt.  This tank is so close to 30 wears, this is it's 27th wear. For a breastfeeding tank it's definitely been a worthwhile addition to my wardrobe. The nursing access is so discreet I can easily wear it even though I'm no longer breastfeeding.

A fun knee-length a-line skirt is a great choice for a business casual office outfit. You can keep things simple and professional by adding a black blazer on top and neutral accessories to let the printed skirt be the star of your outfit.

Striped Tanks and Thrifted Maxi Skirts With Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag

When I bought these maxi skirts last month I knew I wanted to wear them with stripes right away! Although I just shared about them on Wednesday's Monthly purchase post, today I'm showing more details about some of the ways I've worn them. With a plain block colour maxi skirt, a striped tank is a great pairing.

What I wore:

black and white striped tank with ochre tree of life maxi skirt crossbody bag | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond with ochre tree of life maxi skirt | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | ochre striped maxi skirt with black and white stripe tank rebecca minkoff MAB camera bag
Necklace: Colette tortoise shell acrylic disc tassel necklace
TopAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt (new purchase)
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond

Why I wore it:

I really love the colour of this maxi skirt! As you can see it seems to change colour in different lights - it looks pretty similar to the tan bag at first but as you can see in the Insta pic it's a much more yellow tone. I did like the tan Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag with it though. It was the perfect size for carrying the essentials when we popped into the grocery store after church.

Unfortunately we didn't quite miss the storm was was threatening though and I got a little drenched running to the car! This maxi skirt was not fun to wear when wet! Will need to remember to keep it to rain-free days only.

With the striped tank and the block colour maxi skirt I added just a little print mixing with the tortoiseshell necklace. Simple outfit for a stormy day.

Last worn: striped tank, tortoiseshell necklace, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag.

Why I wore it:

My other recently thrifted maxi skirt, I went a little more matchy-matchy with this one and stuck with a navy stripe tank to match the navy skirt. I even picked a blue beaded necklace to tie in with it too, along with the navy Havaianas!

The tan Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag was a nice bit of contrast with the navy - I really like the two neutrals together. Great outfit for the school run and a few errands on a hot summer day.

What I Bought In February And How I've Worn It: Second Hand Finds

After a big spend in January, I really wasn't intending on spending anything in February. However I couldn't resist just a little browse in the opshop when we passed by and ended up buying a couple of things! This month everything I got was second hand.

What I Bought:

Why I Bought It:

We were walking by the opshop when my son noticed the door was ajar and ran in so how could I say no? 😂 We did the usual checkout of books and toys before I had a small browse of the clothes. With nothing particularly in mind but an extra 50% off summer stock I tried a few things on. Being petite maxi skirts are hard to find - in regular stores as well as opshops! - so I wasn't sure these would fit well. So pleased to find out that they don't need any alteration! I suspect that the ochre maxi skirt is actually a midi skirt, but it's a maxi length on me. It's a beautiful shade - couldn't tell if it was more rust or mustard, and it seems to change colours in different lights! I think it's a true ochre.

I'm a little annoyed that the navy maxi skirt doesn't have any labels other than the fabric tag saying it's viscose as it's so soft and such a good fabric for summer. Such a great find and it's a shame I don't know the brand to be able to hunt out more!

The jeans are a little difficult to explain - an impulse buy when it was cooler with the wild weather and I wondered if I should get some jeans. I stumbled across these at a great price on eBay and was excited to get them. However when they arrived they were not in the condition the auction made them out to be. I emailed the seller with pics of the disappointing condition and asked if I could try wash them or if they wanted me to return them without trying anything. The seller then immediately apologised and refunded me. I then washed them and they came up good as new. Since the seller had cancelled the transaction and refunded me I couldn't do anything about it, leaving feedback or anything. I did offer to send them back now clean but she said to keep them. So technically, I paid nothing for these jeans. And then since that took a while to sort out, the weather heated up again so I haven't worn them yet. And I also feel really guilty that I didn't pay anything as I got my money refunded!

How I've Worn It:

I set myself the rule of wearing things twice in the month I buy them and even with being a little unwell for February I managed to meet that goal with the skirts. Maxi skirts just work so well into my life as a mum, the perfect length for church or the school run, and with the heat and humidity these light skirts have been a good choice. Was so easy to hit my wear twice goal with these skirts and I have so many more outfits in mind for them!

The jeans I didn't wear as it's just been too hot. They are sure to get more wear when Autumn weather finally arrives, now it's officially autumn we just have to wait for the summer heat to leave here in Brisbane! They are a very bold magenta so I'm excited to show them off once the weather cools down.

A few purchases even if I wasn't intending to buy anything this month! I'm pleased everything was preloved though, second hand shopping is a lot kinder to my wallet and the environment.
