30 Ways To Wear: Chambray Maxi Skirt

A  new month, a new 30 ways to wear post! It's been a while since I featured a maxi skirt, and I am actually surprised that it's taken me so long to hit 30 wears with this chambray one!

Each month I go through my archives in the blog to find things I've worn 30 times or more to meet the 30 wear challenge, and compile all the times I've worn something into a helpful guide like this showing you how I've remixed things.

30 Ways To Wear: Chambray Maxi Skirt

The first 30 wears post I ever did was with a maxi skirt, but the last time I featured one was almost a year and a half ago, definitely overdue a ways to wear post with a maxi skirt for this series! This chambray maxi skirt is a stunner too! A sale purchase over 3 years ago, it's something I found through another blogger and fell in love with. I had to wait until it went on sale to get this, as I had to budget in the fact that I'd need to have it taken up, being petite. It's from the Noisy May range for tall people so there was quite a lot to cut off! 😂


Cost Per Wear

Cost per wear is a little tricky to calculate as I can't remember how much the alterations were! The skirt alone was just $24.49 and I've worn it 31 times since then, so it's under the $1 per wear that seems to be the goal most people aim for. If you add alterations as well though I would still have more wears to get that $1 a wear figure, but I know this skirt will be worn a lot more in future.

As someone who loves denim and maxi skirts, a chambray maxi skirt was an obvious choice and I really enjoy wearing this!

Chambray Skirt With a Bright Top

The beautiful blue chambray skirt is a perfect pairing with bold block-colour tops! I love a good bright coral or pink tee or tank, or a longer sleeved teal henley for cooler weather. This is such a fun skirt to wear other colours with as blue goes with most of my wardrobe!

Chambray Maxi Skirt With Yellow

Calling out this colour option for you separately from the brights section above, as I love wearing this chambray skirt with yellow! Blue and yellow is a favourite and cheerful colour combination I love to wear, and enjoy pairing different amounts of yellow with this blue skirt - a little bit like a yellow bag, or a larger amount of yellow like a mustard cardigan or tee.

Maxi Skirt In Monochrome Outfit

The colour combinations above are fun to try, but you can also go the easy route and wear a monochromatic outfit with a maxi skirt. this blue chambray skirt is a great pairing for a blue tank, tee or blouse, and as you can see I'm wearing it with 3 different shades of blue here. You don't have to match the shades of the skirt and top exactly to create a monochromatic outfit!

Maxi Skirt And Graphic Tee

A graphic tee looks great with denim - and not just denim shorts and jeans! You can mix it up a little and pair a graphic tee with a chambray maxi skirt for a different look. This is such a nice combination for a hot day, and creates a slightly different outfit from the ones above where I've worn the skirt with bolder block-colour tees.

Chambray Skirt and Stripes

Just like the graphic tee set of outfits above, stripes and denim is another classic go-to outfit for me. there's something so simple about denim and stripes! I like pairing striped tees and tanks with this skirt. As it's a plain block-colour skirt, you don't have to worry about print-clashing when you pick a striped top to wear with it.

Chambray Maxi Skirt and Layers

Chambray isn't just a summer fabric for me, I like to get wear out of this maxi skirt year round. that means adding layers when it gets a little cooler. It could be as simple as adding a kimono over your maxi skirt, or extra layers on a winter day like a cardigan and scarf. A leather jacket works well with a maxi skirt in winter too, particularly paired with ankle boots to keep you cosy!

Maxi Skirt and Knit

Another winter outfit idea is to wear a cosy knitted jumper with a maxi skirt! It's such a simple outfit to wear and so incredibly comfortable. I love being warm and cosy in winter so I've worn a jumper with this maxi skirt a few times. You may need to add some extra layers like scarves, ankle boots and leather jackets if it's very cold, or even a pair of leggings under your skirt!

Chambray Maxi Skirt and Summer Tanks

Saving the simplest outfit for last - for a hot summer day, just pick this light chambray maxi skirt and add a plain or colourful tank. Simple fuss-free summer dressing for the heat! The lighter fabric of this maxi skirt means it billows around nicely as you walk, creating a cool breeze on the hot days. A great summer outfit choice!

Printed Maxi Skirts and Denim Jackets With Amerii Rattan Sling Bag

Enjoying some warmer than usual winter days with my maxi skirts and denim jackets, and my new Amerii straw bag.

Amerii contacted me through YouTube a while ago and asked if I wanted to try one of their bags in exchange for a review - I was thrilled and had fun picking out this piece to try.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a busy day! Church and then a little shopping at Kmart for things for our pantry reorganisation. Now we are all moved into our new house, we are just trying to set up everything how we like it, it's slow but fun progress! As it was slightly warmer when I wore this back in June, I just needed a denim jacket and no scarf.

With the black rattan bag, I thought a black tee and black ankle boots matched nicely and worked well with the colourful blue denim jacket and red printed maxi skirt. This skirt is a summer favourite, but it layers up well for a warmer winter day like this.


Last worn: denim moto jacket, pearl tassel necklace, black scoop neck tee, red printed maxi skirt, black ankle boots. First time I've worn the bag as it's a recent addition to my wardrobe.

Why I wore it:

When we had that brief period of summer like weather back in the middle of June, despite it being winter, I took full advantage and the boys and I headed to our favourite playground to enjoy the sunshine. I also got the chance to wear this side-split maxi skirt, which usually I wouldn't be pulling out on a winter day!

The denim jacket wasn't really necessary, I ended up taking it off as we sat in the sunshine - it was 27° Celsius, so about 82 Fahrenheit. So unexpected for winter!

The mustard yellow tee seemed like a colourful choice for the warmer day, and was a fun pop with the white stripes. Again I stuck with the black ankle boots to match the black round rattan bag. I really liked this outfit.

How You Can Wear It:
Maxi skirts are a summer staple and great for mum life, especially if they are loose and flowy or have a side split to take advantage of a summer breeze. It's easy to layer them up for cooler weather too, with ankle boots and denim jackets. You definitely need more heavy duty layers if you're attempting to wear them on a cold winter day though! 😂

Weekday Wear Linkup: Textured Pencil Skirts In The Office With Brighter Scarves

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm wearing two different textured pencil skirts to the office. I love wearing pencil skirts to work, even in winter, and these textured ones add a nice bit of interest. With the black in them, they work so nicely with my fleece-lined tights too!

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

I really like blue and green together, so I thought this teal henley would go nicely with the navy jacquard pencil skirt. Surprisingly, despite them both being old pieces in my wardrobe, I've never worn both of them together before! I thought I'd definitely worn the cobalt scarf with the teal top at least, but nope that was a new pairing too!

With the navy skirt and blue scarf, I thought my navy mac was a good outerwear choice. It helped the teal henley stand out more too I think! The black Balenciaga part time bag is such an easy accessory, it goes with everything.

Why I wore it:

Another textured pencil skirt, this one again an old wardrobe favourite. Unlike the outfit combination above though, this black henley blouse is frequently worn with the pastel pink textured pencil skirt. It's a simple choice as it matches the black polka dots on the scarf nicely. The camel trench coat is another frequently worn piece with the skirt, as is the black Balenciaga part time bag.

For something a little different I picked this magenta skull scarf to really pop against the black and add a little bit of colour. Much bolder than the pastel pink of the pencil skirt, but I thought it complimented it perfectly.

Two Ways To Wear Grey Kmart Leopard Print Tee In Winter

I saw this leopard print tee in Kmart and was tempted to buy it, at just $9. I decided I didn't need another grey tee though and put it back. When I stumbled across it again at just $2, I knew I had to get it! It's so soft and the leopard print is nice and subtle, it's so easy to wear! I've worn it two different ways below.

What I wore:

Necklace: Target silver Alisha trinity pendant necklace
Tee: Kmart grey leopard print tee
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel Tote in moon

Why I wore it:

Such a simple mum outfit: jeans, a tee, and Converse. Easily made suitable for winter with a cosy cardigan on top. To make this outfit a little more interesting, I went with bright green skinny jeans. While not as cheap as the leopard print tee, they were an opshop find and so also affordable, at just $5.

The green jeans and navy cardigan are a colour combination I often wear together, and I thought they complimented the neutral grey tee nicely. An easy outfit for a day at the playground and the library with the boys.

Why I wore it:

A busy day meant another easy outfit for mum life - this maxi skirt is a firm favourite, and the grey leopard print tee with it created a rather monochromatic outfit, especially with the leather jacket. I needed the jacket in the cooler morning but with a day of rushing around to appointments, it came off before lunchtime.

This outfit wasn't as colourful as the first one, so I couldn't resist adding a little extra colour to this with the mustard Rebecca Minkoff mirco Regan bag. Such a fun pop of colour!

A printed tee is a wardrobe staple, especially when paired with a pair of jeans. To mix things up a little you can try colourful denim instead, or swap your skinny jeans for a maxi skirt, which still provides the coverage you need when running around after two toddlers!

Jeanswest Jewel Toned Blouses In The Office & Weekday Wear Linkup

For today's weekday wear linkup I'm sharing two pretty jewel toned blouses I wore to work with classic black pencil skirts. I wear my pencil skirts year-round to the office, they just need a little extra layering in winter!

Why I wore it:

More fun photos from my friend K at the Myer Centre cloud 9 area. When I saw that this pink and yellow wall matched my pink and yellow scarf it was an obvious backdrop for taking photos!

I like the sapphire blue of this studded blouse, it's such a nice colour and it pairs nicely with black. I think navy and black is a stunning combo. With the navy Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote too though the outfit felt a little flat - the pink and yellow Alexander McQueen skull scarf was the perfect accessory for a little extra colour.

These black ankle boots have been getting a workout too after my tan ones broke!

Why I wore it:

This berry blouse is such a great colour to wear! It's shiny fabric makes it seem more pink or more ruby toned in different lights. I was wondering what bag I could wear with it when I realised it looked pretty similar to the shade of this magenta Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag! You know I love a bit of matchy-matchy, and while the shades don't match exactly this combination made me so happy.

This lovely metallic boucle jacket seemed like a good combo with the silky texture of the blouse, and the round neckline let the little ruffled collar of my blouse standout. I also appreciated the zippers on the sleeves of this jacket. The blouse has puffy statement sleeves and it wasn't fitting under a plain black blazer, but unzipping the sleeves on this slightly let me wear the blouse under with ease!

A jewel toned blouse in a modest cut is great for the office. Long sleeves mean your arms are protected from the freezing aircon, and the colours are a nice pop with a classic black pencil skirt. With the plain colourful backdrop of the blouse you can add a fun printed jacket or a scarf for a little extra interest too.

Denim Jacket And Striped Maxi Skirts With Grey Tees and Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag

I blame jet lag after returning home to Brisbane for these two outfits looking incredibly similar! 😂 You know I love my outfit formulas - denim jacket, a grey tee and a striped maxi skirt was such an easy option. I do try to make my outfits look a little different when I repeat something again a few days later, but in my jet lagged haze and rush to get out the door I ended up grabbing the same denim jacket both times instead of a different one each time. Oh well! At least the necklaces, skirts and shades of grey in the tees are different!

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a day with the boys, trying to get back into our usual routines after returning from Europe! We went to the playground and the library and did a little bit of grocery shopping. I needed a nice easy outfit, so a simple grey tee and striped maxi skirt seemed the best fuss-free way to dress. The splits up the side of this maxi skirt mean it doesn't get worn much in winter, but when I wore this back at the start of the month it was a milder day. It felt really warm compared to the cold temps we'd experienced on the other side of the world too! 😂

This Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag was overdue a wear - I'd considered taking it overseas with me so that I could wear it to the wedding, but I went with the little silver mini MAC in the end. I was glad I'd taken the mini MAC, but still wanted to wear this camera bag when I got home.

Why I wore it:

Another day with the kids, another easy outfit, with a different grey tee and striped maxi skirt, but again the same outfit formula, with the same denim jacket, shoes and Rebecca Minkoff bag. I actually ended up taking the denim jacket off in the morning - it was such a nice day and we spent it at a park in the bayside, soaking up the sun.

This black striped maxi skirt is one that hasn't been worn in a while. A pregnancy purchase when I was pregnant with my eldest boy, it's a piece I've already hit 30 wears on. When I'm thinking of things to wear I usually pass over this skirt for another one that hasn't hit 30 wears yet, but on this day I wanted to go back to an old favourite!
