Waterfall Cardigans, Printed Shorts And V-Neck Tees With Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC

It's been a very hot spring so far in Brisbane but the mornings and evenings started out a little cooler, so I decided to add some cardigans to my shorts and tee outfits to keep me warm. Even if I did end up taking both cardigans off by lunchtime 😂

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

I really like pink and purple together and I like how this purpley-magenta cardigan works so nicely with the neon pink Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag. They were fun accessories with the monochromatic grey tee and black printed shirt too. The cardigan became much too hot halfway round the trail the kids were biking and scooting around so I quickly took it off. Had been perfect in the colder start to the day though.

Nice quiet day with the kids, shorts and tee and Converse was a great outfit, even if the cardigan didn't stay on long.

Why I wore it:

This navy cardigan didn't stay on long at all! It had seemed like a nice idea in the morning but I quickly realised during swimming lessons that it was far too hot for it, and left it in the car!

I did like the way the navy cardigan worked so well with the navy printed shorts and the bright mustard tee, just was a much warmer day than I anticipated! I like mustard and navy together, and although the yellow in the print on the shorts is lemon I think the mustard tee paired nice with it and was a fun pop of colour with the navy. I went a little matchy-matchy with my accessories, wearing my metallic silver mini MAC bag and also my glittery silver sneakers.

How You Can Wear It:
In spring and autumn, cardigans are great layers to add for the cooler mornings and evenings and aren't too bulky to pop in a bag if you take them off during the day. You can try wearing your cardigans with printed shorts when you know the day is going to heat up, using the cardigan to add more colour like I did in the first outfit, or matching the print in the shorts like I did in the second outfit.

Third Trimester: Maternity Denim, Green and Blue and Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC

In the third trimester my wardrobe options get limited even further, so I'm pretty much wearing nothing but maternity clothes now. A positive to this is that I have a few green pieces I've been wearing. It was previously a colour I found tricky to wear, but I'm seeing the positive side as I've been encouraged to branch out and try wearing it more often.

Why I wore it:

It was actually a cool summer day, which was a welcome change. I decided to get my maternity jeans out again. They haven't been worn as much in this pregnancy as they were last time, due to being pregnant over the different seasons. I'm enjoying my denim maternity shorts but it's been good to wear these jeans again when I can as I loved them so much last time around.

Thought I'd give the green tee a go with the navy kimono. I liked the colour combination, and the kimono was a cosy addition that came in handy for family birthday celebrations in the evening as it cooled down a little more.

As it's the second time I've worn this kimono, and I'm reviewing everything I buy after wearing it twice to see how my new purchases are working in my wardrobe, my purchase review:

This kimono was a complete impulse buy. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but for $3 I strongly felt I should buy it! I figured even if I only wore it a few times it would be a good cost per wear. It is really quite oversized on me, but I'm loving it. It's simple to wear, it's not too hot for summer, and I love the cocoon style, even if I do sometimes worry it seems to swamp me in photos. I'm glad I bought it.

Why I wore it:

Returning to my maternity shorts as the summer heat was back. This was a perfect outfit for a morning playdate with toddler T and some friends.

Another blue and green outfit! I'd always heard the rule 'blue and green should never be seen', which is probably why I had so little green in my wardrobe, given how much blue I have in my wardrobe! But I really liked the colour combination in this outfit. A good example of why trying different combinations is a good thing. If it doesn't work you can just take everything off again, or you could find a new combination you love.

Foil Print Tees With Shorts and Studded Sandals

While I do like changing things up a little with my outfits and wearing dresses or skirts and adding kimonos and layers, sometimes you just want a casual and comfortable shorts and tee outfit. Both of these tees have some foil detailing on them, which makes them a little more sparkly and makes me feel a bit more pulled together.

Why I wore it:

For a hot and humid day I wanted some light pieces to wear, and these fun soft shorts are perfect. I frequently wear these printed shorts with stripes, I love the print mixing combination. With the white in the print of the shorts, the white tee seemed like a good idea, following the 'wear the same colour in both prints' rule for print mixing.

After grabbing some groceries, we headed out to our local ABA group catch up. We had a change of venue which meant I felt brave enough to wear white around the boys, as they spent all their time running around on the playground. It was nice as it gave me a chance to have a chat without constant interruptions. The main topic of conversation was the humid weather of course!

With the silver foil stripes on the tee, the metallic silver mini MAC seemed like the obvious choice. I've worn the tee and bag together before, it's a nice matchy-matchy combination.

Why I wore it:

I felt like it had been a while since I last wore this tee, so it was overdue a wear again. Just over 3 months, even though I still feel this is a relatively new purchase in my wardrobe! It's such a soft tee, so perfect for a quiet morning with the boys. We had a very quick browse in the opshop where I picked up some winter clothes for them, then we went to playgroup.

This bag is a recent addition to my wardrobe, you can see the reveal video above. It's a Balenciaga pompon in murrier and I think the lilac purple looks great with blue, I've worn it that way before too. Such a nice colour.

How You Can Wear It:

On a warm day, you can't beat a shorts and tee combo for an easy outfit. It's perfect for running around with toddlers. Shorts and a tee doesn't have to be boring though, picking printed pieces like a striped or polka dot tee or printed shorts can add some extra interest. Foil print takes that one step further and brings a little shimmer to your outfit, which keeping the practicality and easy of a simple shorts and tee combination.

As the weather warms up and spring arrives, it's nice to wear my henley tops again and not worry about jackets. Long sleeves don't get worn much in summer so I need to maximise the wearing of these comfy tops in winter.

Why I wore it:

Wore this colourful teal henley for the first day of spring. I started playing along with a couple of instagram style challenges again, and this was a good colourful jacket-less outfit for the 'spring has sprung' #TRMstyle prompt.

I've always found this teal top a little hard to wear, but since adding more green to my pregnancy wardrobe and having a green tank in my third trimester capsule wardrobe, I'm finding it really easy to wear and I can't believe I ever thought of getting rid of it! I don't think I will ever get bored of wearing this top and scarf together, I've done it a few times now. With the teal top and blue and teal scarf, the silver mini MAC was a great neutral bag so I wore it again.

Graphic Tees and Floral Kimonos With Denim For Spring

Continuing to enjoy the milder spring weather in Brisbane and wearing two pretty floral kimonos. Because florals are perfect for spring! Keeping things simple, as always, I wore the kimonos with denim, but decided to wear graphic tees instead of plain ones for something a little different.

Why I wore it:

While it was a bit of a cooler spring day I thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear this long sleeved kimono. It's such a fun bright magenta, with a hint of orange and blue in the floral print. It really pops with the Nobody Denim black skinny jeans, and the Edinburgh graphic tee I picked up on our Europe trip earlier this year matched the blue in the print nicely. I couldn't resist adding a little extra colour with my bag though! this peachy Rebecca Minkoff small love bag wouldn't normally be my first choice with magenta but with the orange in the flowers on the print I decided to give it a go and I really loved this combination!

Nice and comfortable outfit for church in the morning before a big family dinner at my parents in the afternoon.

Why I wore it:

This was a much warmer spring day, so I had to get my shorts out! I wore this back in September, the first month of spring, but I wasn't expecting to need my shorts so early in the season!

Unfortunately, I had a bunch of errands to run, but the boys were very patient and we headed to the park as soon as we were done. The heat ended up driving us home from the playground though, it was over 30 degrees (86 F). More like summer than spring!

As I knew we would be rushing about in the morning before heading to the sandy playground I picked my comfortable Converse to wear, they look so good with denim! Again I picked a graphic tee to wear with the floral kimono, I thought this navy one was a good combo with the green floral, even if the graphic print is quite large. Decided the silver Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag was the best accessory, as the graphic tee and the floral printed kimono meant I didn't want a necklace. This metallic silver goes with everything!

A floral kimono is a fun topper to a casual denim and tee outfit. For something a little different, swap out a basic tee for one with a graphic design on it! You can match the graphic print to a colour in the kimono like the first outfit, or pick a contrasting colour like in the second outfit.

Maternity Skinny Jeans and Printed Tops: Second Trimester SAHM Style

I'm really enjoying wearing my maternity jeans again. It's so nice having something to wear that I know I'll fit into and feel good in. In the second trimester the bump grows so quickly it can be hard to guess what to wear each day!

Why I wore it:

I tried on a few other tops before I got to this one. It's pretty, so I wanted to wear it before the bump got too big, but I was really pushing the limits of it. Although it did fit better than a few of the other tops I'd tried, it didn't feel comfortable at all and I was wishing I'd picked a different top after a few hours!

Took toddler T out to a trial class of gymboree, which is like kind of like baby gymnastics. Basically a morning of play learning new moves; bouncing, running, rolling, swinging, singing songs. It was really fun! Toddler T loved it and I wasn't too tired out by the end of it (I did wonder how I'd cope running along with him!).

It was a slightly cooler day in Brisbane after a couple of wet and stormy days, so it was perfect for jeans. I am grateful for the cooler weather as it lets me wear the jeans a little longer, I know in no time at all summer will be here and I'll have ditched them for shorts. I've already bought another pair of maternity shorts in anticipation....

Two Ways To Wear Jeanswest Kaylin Star Print Foil Tee

When I buy something, I have the rule that I have to wear it twice in the month I buy it. When I'm considering things, I like to think up two different ways to wear it right away. This post is a good opportunity to show those ways.

I only bought one thing in March, the Jeanswest Kaylin star foil grey tee. I had tried on a white star print tee there a few weeks previously and put it back as it was too sheer. I couldn't stop thinking about it though, so when they had a 30% off sale I went back to get it. Was really happy to see this 'smoke marle' colour which is opaque and not as sheer as the white version. It was a definite must buy!

Why I wore it:

First time I wore this foil star print tee was to playgroup. As it was another hot autumn day that felt more like summer, I picked the soft shorts to wear with it. I like wearing other prints with these shorts, but usually go for stripes, so the star print was a nice change. With the silver foil on the tee and the silver Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC, it felt like a slightly dressier option for playgroup where we celebrated Baby Boy's birthday as well as the birthday of one of his friends.

The benefits of the soft shorts and soft tee were that they kept me cool as we rushed around trying to complete some errands before playgroup. As well as grabbing some groceries, we went to Kmart to print our some thank you cards from the birthday party on the weekend. I usually have a pretty bad track record with thank you notes going out on time, so I felt pretty accomplished getting printed a couple days after the party! Took me a little while longer to write and send them of course...

Why I wore it:

I'm so glad I got this tee in grey, While it's a really light grey, it's not so white that I worry about wearing it around the boys. Wore it for the second time to go to the Manly markets. The plan was to spend the morning walking around the markets and maybe play in the playground if the rain held off. Well it cleared into a beautiful sunny day, which of course made the beach appealing for the boys. While none of us were dressed for it, we quickly kicked off our shoes and went for a paddle. Which is impossible to do with boys, ha! There was water being splashed everywhere, they were running in the waves, and at one point a massive wipeout ensured  no-one was dry at the end of the morning. I still carry and keep a spare change of clothes in the baby bag thankfully.

Despite not being prepared for getting wet, it was still a really fun morning, and a great way to cool down as the temperatures kept rising. We had the aircon on again in the afternoon, despite it being the end of the first month of autumn.

As I'd worn this silver foil tee with the blue shorts above, I felt this chambray skirt was a little repetitive with it. I do love silver and blue together though, it's why I have so many silver accessories with all the blue in my wardrobe. I decided to add a little touch of colour with the mustard yellow micro Regan bag. I really liked this outfit combination too. This tee will go with so much!
