Embroidered Tops And Shorts: Sea World Gold Coast Family Vlog

Simple outfits with the same formula, embroidered tops and shorts, but two very different looks.

This is quite a delayed post, sorry! I wanted to wait until I had my Sea World day out vlog to add to the post, so I held off from posting these outfits. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal as I usually post my outfits out of order anyway, but it does seem a little funny in these photos as you can see Cooper all fluffy before he got his big trim. He looks so different now!

Why I wore it:

Had such a fun day out when I wore this. We went to Sea World on the Gold Coast for the day (see the vlog below). It had been pretty cloudy in Brisbane so I wasn't sure about the weather on the coast. I picked my Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag in case it rained, along with closed in shoes and a long sleeve blouse. I even brought a jacket and jeans for the boys. Of course it turned into a gloriously sunny day and I wished I'd worn a shorter sleeved top!

Day Out At Sea World Australia on the Gold Coast

Why I wore it:

A monochrome blue outfit for a busy day. I thought the embroidery on the tunic would tie in nicely with the white print on the shorts. I liked the two pieces together but felt that the tunic sat a little weirdly, there was a lot of extra fabric to tuck in. The plan was to go to ABA mum's group in the morning, drop off Cooper at the groomers, go home for lunch and a nap for the boys, then pick him up in the afternoon. A busy day, but manageable.

Of course nothing went according to plan! We were late to leave the house, which made us late for running errands before ABA, which made us late for ABA...and the lateness continued. When we eventually got home in the afternoon I realised that the groomer may have downplayed the injury Cooper got, as he was leaving a trail of blood around the house...

After freaking out, I found a local vet who could see us immediately (last thing on a friday afternoon!), he got his wounds treated and we were free to go home. Just a little late for starting dinner. Cooper is okay now, but it was one of those bad to worse days and I was so happy when it ended!

Embroidered tops are so fun to wear and they add a little interest to a plain top. The benefit of  embroidered tops and tunics is that the embellishment built into the top means no accessorising is needed! You don't need to worry about finding a matching necklace. If it's a hot day, add some shorts (or jeans in cooler weather) and you're set.

Balenciaga Pompon With Fit And Flare Dresses For The Office

Colourful handbags make up the majority of my (pretty large!) handbag collection. I just love adding bright accessories to outfits. With these two classic fit and flare dresses that I wore to the office I added my newest handbag, the Balenciaga Pompon bag in murrier. It's a lovely lilac purple that works well with blue, and looks great here with the black and white too.

Why I wore it:

I was so sure that I'd worn this necklace and dress together before! I like wearing statement necklaces against the black and white stripes, it makes the pink in this necklace really pop. Was quite surprised when I sat down to write this post and looked through the blog and realised I haven't actually worn the combination before. I have worn something similar though.

I really liked the pink and purple with this. A neutral outfit is a great base to add colourful accessories too, and pink and purple are so complimentary. The Balenciaga Pompon bag is such a large bag and easily carried everything I need for work. I have a more detailed review of it in the video below.

Why I wore it:

Keeping it simpler this time, with just one extra colour in my outfit. Classic little black dress with a textured jacket and neutral silver accessories, so the only touch of colour is the pretty purple Balenciaga pompon bag.

I liked the mix of textures in this outfit, with the jacquard jacket and the ribbed dress. The silver necklace seemed like an obvious choice with the metallic silver thread in the jacket.

The only problem with this is that the jacket has pretty zipper pulls on the sleeves. Looks great, but not ideal for wearing to the office and typing in, it makes such a noise! So I had a cardigan with me and swapped the jacket for a cardigan at my desk.

How You Can Wear It:

Fit and flare dresses in a neutral colour are a great outfit backdrop for any more colourful accessories you might want to add. With the neutral backdrop, the purple Balenciaga pompon bag really stands out. As you can see from the first outfit, your colourful accessories don't always have to match, sometimes it's fun to wear different colours to add even more brightness to a black and white palette.

Foil Print Tees With Shorts and Studded Sandals

While I do like changing things up a little with my outfits and wearing dresses or skirts and adding kimonos and layers, sometimes you just want a casual and comfortable shorts and tee outfit. Both of these tees have some foil detailing on them, which makes them a little more sparkly and makes me feel a bit more pulled together.

Why I wore it:

For a hot and humid day I wanted some light pieces to wear, and these fun soft shorts are perfect. I frequently wear these printed shorts with stripes, I love the print mixing combination. With the white in the print of the shorts, the white tee seemed like a good idea, following the 'wear the same colour in both prints' rule for print mixing.

After grabbing some groceries, we headed out to our local ABA group catch up. We had a change of venue which meant I felt brave enough to wear white around the boys, as they spent all their time running around on the playground. It was nice as it gave me a chance to have a chat without constant interruptions. The main topic of conversation was the humid weather of course!

With the silver foil stripes on the tee, the metallic silver mini MAC seemed like the obvious choice. I've worn the tee and bag together before, it's a nice matchy-matchy combination.

Why I wore it:

I felt like it had been a while since I last wore this tee, so it was overdue a wear again. Just over 3 months, even though I still feel this is a relatively new purchase in my wardrobe! It's such a soft tee, so perfect for a quiet morning with the boys. We had a very quick browse in the opshop where I picked up some winter clothes for them, then we went to playgroup.

This bag is a recent addition to my wardrobe, you can see the reveal video above. It's a Balenciaga pompon in murrier and I think the lilac purple looks great with blue, I've worn it that way before too. Such a nice colour.

On a warm day, you can't beat a shorts and tee combo for an easy outfit. It's perfect for running around with toddlers. 2 Ways To Wear A Dress As A Top: Work And Weekend With Colourful Balenciaga Bags

I love the dresses I have in my wardrobe, but sometimes I like to try different things with them. This dress below is the perfect casual dress, I've worn it to Bondi beach and I love it as a beach cover-up. It's so easy to make the dress work in other ways too though. Below I'm wearing it as a top in two different ways, one for the office and the other for a day of errands.

Why I wore it:

After a few days signed off sick from work, my voice still wasn't fully back, but I could kind of hold a conversation, so I headed into the office. This was a mistake and I should have stayed home. I ended up getting told to go home by two different bosses. By lunch time I took their advice, called it quits and went home.

While I felt horrible, my outfit was designed to make me feel better, with the colourful and cheerful magenta Balenciaga day bag as a pop of colour with all of the black. The jersey blazer and skirt look a bit 'suit-like' in an attempt to project an air of professionalism with all my coughs and wheezes! Despite having a horrible day and feeling too exhausted to do anything other than order takeaway for dinner, I did like this outfit. It's a shame I wasn't well enough to enjoy it, ha!

Why I wore it:

Feeling much better, I wore the dress again as a top a few days afterwards. Instead of layering a pencil skirt over the top, I just bundled it up and partially tucked it into my denim shorts, which have been on heavy repeat lately. As the weather is getting cooler here in Brisbane, the longer sleeves from the dress worked nicely with the slightly longer length of the bermuda shorts.

Just like the pink Balenciaga day bag above, I picked this Balenciaga Pompon bag for an extra touch of colour with the otherwise monochromatic blue outfit. I have been enjoying using this Balenciaga bag lately, as you may have seen on Instagram.

Added the Converse as it was a bit of a showery day and as much as I love my trusty Havaianas that you'll see in most of my outfit photos, I don't like them in the rain much! The Converse were much easier for running around chasing after the boys as we attempted to achieve multiple things in one morning.

Try rewear your favourite dress differently by layering and wearing it as a top. For shorter dresses, you can add a pencil skirt over the top to instantly make them a work-appropriate length. If the dress is a light soft fabric like this viscose one, scrunch it up and tuck it into a pair of shorts for a different casual summer look.
