What I Wore To Disneyland Paris & Weekday Wear Linkup

We took the boys to Disneyland Paris! We had two amazing days at Euro Disney, having the best fun. It really is a magical place and while the parks were busy and things were crowded and my French was not as great as it could be, we had an incredible time.

We packed light, hand luggage only, as we flew from Edinburgh to Paris.

What I wore:

ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
TeeUniqlo Mickey Mouse 'Mickey Stands' short sleeve graphic tee
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

I could not stop grinning! It's been a dream of mine to go to Disneyland since I was little and to take the boys and seeing them immersed in the magic for a couple of days was wonderful!

Day one was Disneyland Paris - I wore my Mickey tee (we all did for our meeting with the famous mouse!) and my maxi skirt, with my comfortable Converse for walking around a lot. It's a big park! We got to meet treasured characters, eat the best food (Mickey Mouse shaped pizzas and a lot of popcorn!) and took so many photos. It was a chilly start to the day but did warm up so my Louis Vuitton scarf and my leather jacket came off and on through the day. The boys were dressed in layers too.

I wanted to share a favourite moment from the day here on the blog but there were so many! From finally getting to meet Mickey after planning this trip for almost a year, meeting Winnie the Pooh, the parade where Elsa blew a kiss to the boys, and Peter Pan recognised them from earlier in the day, the fireworks show at the end of the night and many more ... there are just so many special moments! I included some of them in the video below. If you've ever wanted to visit Disney, do it! Especially when the kids are little!

Why I wore it:

Our next day at Disneyland Paris we went to Walt Disney Studios. I was glad I'd packed this short sleeve dress as this was a much warmer day and my leather jacket didn't stay on long at all. The dress was a nice light outfit option to have in my hand luggage and a dream to travel with - no creases when I rolled it up.

Initially I'd been unsure if this park would be as much fun as the main park for the boys - it turned out to be such a great day and I'm glad we went. It was certainly a quieter park with much shorter wait times for rides. Although we did have to use a Fast Pass to get on the Tower of Terror ride! The boys got to meet Spiderman after watching the superhero show live and were over the moon! We cuddled Pluto and Goofy and walked past Cruella De Ville and Woody, and went on a ton of rides.

It was another magical day and over much too soon, but we had to leave and get to the airport to fly back to Scotland for a very important date.

Weekday Wear Link Up! Same Outfit, Different Shoes: Edinburgh Castle Outfit

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, showing one of the simplest ways to change up an outfit. Wearing the same pieces but changing the shoes to create two different outfits for two very different days in Scotland.

What I wore:

Edinburgh castle sightseeing outfit cobalt Louis Vuitton scarf monochrome jeans and tee outfit speedy bandouliere | awayfromblue

awayfromblue Instagram | what I wore to visit Edinburgh castle monochrome grey jeans and leather jacket cobalt Louis Vuitton scarf

awayfromblue Instagram | tourist hoodie jumping pic at Edinburgh castle pink sweater grey jeans ankle boots

ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
Tee: thrifted Maison Scotch black paint splatter print long sleeved tee
JeansJeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Wore this outfit to go explore Edinburgh castle with the boys. If you're in Edinburgh, it's a must-see! We frequently walked up to here during our time in Scotland, as you can see from my jumping pic! It's just so photogenic on top of the castle rock. The views you get from the various points inide the castle are stunning too, you can see all over the city and on a clear day like this was you can see right across the Forth to Fife.

As it is a high point in the middle of Edinburgh it can be quite chilly with the wind, so I layered up! My trusty leather jacket with a long sleeve black tee underneath and grey skinny jeans made a great monochromatic outfit with the ankle boots. With all of the black and grey, the Louis Vuitton bleu shawl was a lovely pop of colour and being a wool blend, it helped to keep me cosy.

The boys had a fun day and were eager to tell everyone that they visited an actual castle for the rest of the trip!

Last worn: leather jacket, Louis Vuitton scarf, black tee, grey skinny jeans, ankle boots, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag.

Other ways to wearleather jacket and dress, Louis Vuitton scarf and stripes, black tee and pencil skirt, grey skinny jeans and kimono, ankle boots worn 30 ways, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and shorts.

Views From Edinburgh Castle and the One O'Clock Gun Firing

I didn't take a lot of video as we went around the castle - too cold to have my camera out much! So it's just under 2 minutes with some of the views from the castle, the beautiful interiors and of course the firing of the famous one o'clock gun.

What I wore:

Tee: thrifted Maison Scotch black paint splatter print long sleeved tee
JeansJeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Exactly the same as the outfit above, I just switched the shoes! Instead of my ankle boots I picked Converse for a day in the park with the boys. Such an easy way to change an outfit, just swapping out and accessory, but it made such a difference. Converse are my go-to on cold park days with the boys!

Because I really liked the first outfit I kept it all the same, I love how the cobalt blue Louis Vuitton scarf pops against the black tee, leather jacket and grey jeans.

Last wornleather jacket (above), Louis Vuitton scarf (above), black tee (above), grey skinny jeans (above), Converse, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag (above).

Other ways to wearleather jacket and blue jeans, Louis Vuitton scarf and maxi dress, black tee and olive pants, grey skinny jeans for brunch, Converse in the snow, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and maxi dress.

Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag in third trimester.

Grey Jeans Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

If you have an outfit you love, wear it again! Everyone re-wears their favourite pieces. If you want to make it slightly different to avoid feeling like you are repeating yourself over and over, swap out an accessory. It can be as simple as changing the shoes you're wearing, or you could change the bag or scarf!

Weekday Wear Linkup: International Flight Style!

If you've been following along on Instagram you'll know I've been travelling a bit lately! This family holiday has taken an epic amount of planning and is the first international flight for the boys. It's been interesting and exhausting and so much fun!

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm sharing my international flight style, as well as what I've packed in my hand luggage for making the journey.

What I wore:

international flight style brisbane to edinburgh stripe duster louis vuitton luggage olive jeans converse | awayfromblue

away from the blue Instagram | international flight style Striped duster olive jeans black tee louis vuitton scarf luggage
Jacket: Kmart striped maxi cardigan
ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu

JeansJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere / Louis Vuitton Keepall 45 / Antler Blue large luggage

Why I wore it:

I was a perfect mix of excited and nervous with the first big international flight for the boys. I've taken them to Sydney before, but this was a combined 26 hours on 3 different planes over a few days, and a much bigger trip than we've ever done with kids.

Stuck with comfortable favourite pieces! A striped duster as an easy cover up that never creases, my cobalt Louis Vuitton shawl for a pop of colour and extra cosiness on the plane, a classic black tee that goes with everything and my olive skinny jeans. Converse as they are the most comfortable and none of the 4 airports we travelled through required me to remove them, so the laces weren't an issue.

I took two carry on items with me - my speedy bandouliere as my handbag and my Louis Vuitton keepall as my main bag. You can see what I carried with me in the video below.

The flights went quite well! We did a screen blackout for the boys 2 weeks before we flew. They sometimes get to watch an episode off Netflix a few times a week, but we stopped that completely so that they were completely obsessed with and entertained by the in-flight movies which worked well. I was also very pleased to see that they inherited their dad's stomach for flying and unlike me they did not get travel sick at all.

Last worn: striped duster, cobalt scarf, black tee, olive skinny jeans, Converse, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to wearstriped duster for a flight to Sydney, cobalt scarf and printed dress, black tee and pencil skirt, olive skinny jeans in the office, Converse in the snowLouis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and maxi dress.

Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere / Louis Vuitton Keepall 45

Why I wore it:

Wore the same scarf for a shorter trip - flying from Edinburgh to Paris where we had a few days in Disneyland! My carry on luggage was a bit fuller this time around, as we didn't check in any bags. I packed as lightly as I could and the outfit I wore for the plane was one I wore the next day too.

This Mickey Mouse tee I stumbled across in Uniqlo before we left while looking for a Disney tee for the boys, and I knew we had to all get matching ones! 😂 Because if you're going to go all out and wear matching character tees as a family, where else but Disneyland?! Mickey Mouse loved it!

Again I stuck with my Louis Vuitton scarf to keep me cosy and add a bit of colour with the black leather jacket and maxi skirt. Such a comfy travel outfit.

If you haven't been following along with the travels on Instagram I will be posting a bit more about them on the blog next week!

Maxi Dresses For Different Events: Wedding and Kids Birthday Party

I love maxi dresses, for everyday wear and for special events. They never look over or under dressed for any occasion! Wearing two pretty blue ones below, dressed up for a formal event and dressed down for a casual kid's birthday party.

What I wore:

pastel grecian maxi dress with vintage Chanel bag and louis vuitton monogram shawl for waterfront wedding | awayfromblue

Chanel vintage quilted 'Diana' lambskin flap for a wedding | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue instagram wedding guest maxi dress outfit blue pastel grecian dress with cobalt louis vuitton shawl vintage chanel bag

ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
DressJeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell (C/O)
Shoes: NineWest "Quicken" wedges in natural
Bracelets: the usual plus silver charm bracelet
BagChanel vintage quilted lambskin flap

Why I wore it:

I had been looking forward to this day for so long! One of my oldest friends was getting married and we were so thrilled to celebrate with the couple. While his wife is someone I've only gotten to know over the past few years, I met him all the way back in uni so hubby and I are good friends with him. (I met my hubby in uni too, a couple years later!).

It was literally the only sunny day in over a week of rain and storms, they couldn't have had a better day. The sun came out for the ceremony (overlooking the beautiful water) and when the breeze started to pick up and get cooler in the evening I had my Louis Vuitton shawl in my bag. It's the first time I've worn this shawl as an actual shawl and not just as a scarf!

The bag was another accessory I love - a vintage Chanel flap I don't get to wear often, but treasure the times I do!

The shoes I was not too happy with. You might have seen on my Insta stories that taking a few steps out the door to leave resulted in the sole of one of my shoes flying off! So I ran back inside and superglued it together, hoping it would hold out for the party, and trying to ignore the fact that I put it on a little crooked....thankfully, it held together well. The other shoe on the other hand decided to fall to pieces in the same way, as I walked through the middle of the tables at this small and intimate wedding. I've had them for a few years, and I got them pre blog, but in the 6 years I've been blogging this is their 7th wear so it's not like I've overly worn them! I suspect the heat / humidity has got to the glue holding them together while they've spent most of their life stored in a box.

On the plus side, the wedding was wonderful, the ceremony so moving, the food delicious, the speeches both hilarious and heartwarming, and the dancing wonderful. Even if it was a bit of a challenge dancing with lopsided shoes after consuming a couple of glasses of champagne! 😂 I ended up copying the mother of the groom and going shoe-less in the end.

Last worn: Louis Vuitton shawl, pink tassel earrings, grecian maxi dress, nude wedges, vintage Chanel flap.

Other ways to wearLouis Vuitton shawl woth jeans and tee, grecian maxi dress for birthday party, nude wedges and lace dress, vintage Chanel flap for Christmas day.

Why I wore it:

The weekend before the wedding was a bit cold and wet, so I ended up layering my maxi dress up a little more, with the mustard scarf, denim jacket and ankle boots. Had a bit of a busy day, with swim lessons in the morning, followed by a birthday party for one of little T's friends, then a trip down the coast to spend time with my parents.

The ankle boots were a perfect choice for the wet weather and my layers kept me nice and cosy. I thought this maxi dress would be perfect as I've never been to a birthday party at McDonalds before and wasn't sure what to wear! It was interesting seeing what the other mums were wearing, so many different outfits - and I saw a few similar outfits to other things I was thinking of wearing! - but of course the best dressed was the birthday girl.

It was a lot of fun, getting to chat to the parents of some of the kids I have only heard about from the boys stories after daycare. It was also very noisy, as the kids had a great time running around and playing together.

Printed Dresses, Silver Bag and Sneakers with Colourful Scarves: Spring Style

I debated about buying these glitter sneakers for a while. Given how much I've been reaching for them lately, I'm so glad I went back to the store to buy them. They work perfectly with spring dresses and scarves, and were only $8 at Kmart!

What I wore:

awayfromblue instagram boho print spring dress with cosy louis vuitton shawl silver bag glitter shoes
ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
DressJeanswest 'Chelsea' printed dress
Shoes: Kmart sparkly silver glitter sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC

Why I wore it:

Couldn't resist going matchy-matchy with this outfit! Silver glitter shoes, and metallic silver mini MAC bag with a blue scarf and printed dress. Took me a while to decide on a scarf to wear in the morning - sometimes I leave my accessory decisions to the last minute even if I plan my outfits the night before. I tried this on and knew it would be perfect with the blue boho print of the dress.

While I don't wear this dress much over winter (I have layered it a few times) it gets worn frequently over spring and summer. Was a nice and simple outfit for a trip out shopping with the boys and my sister. We started the day at the playground before heading to the shops for a browse and some lunch (I've already shared my purchases!). Such a fun day, and nice to catch up with my sister. The boys loved it, even if we did spend time shopping, as they love their aunt.

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the outfit combo above so much, I did what I usually do and repeated it again a few days later with different pieces. Kept the silver mini MAC and glitter sneakers, and picked a different blue printed dress with an orange scarf this time. Was a comfortable outfit for a morning with the kids at an ABA-funded CPR and choking course.

You've seen me wear this dress with red a lot in the past. I've always thought the print was red. I saw on A Pocket Full of Polka Dots blog Jennie said it was orange and it made me question my eyes! I think it's a very orangey red, and could go either way. I appreciate her post as now I have a new colour combo to wear with this dress!

The longer knee length dress came in really helpful as I was running around with the boys before and after the course. It was a great course, I think you can never really have too many first aid refreshers, especially as I know from experience when things go wrong with the kids my mind goes blank! You always hope you'll never have to use anything you learn at one of these courses, but you want to remember it just in case.

How You Can Wear It:

A dress and sneakers is a great outfit combination for spring when it's not quite warm enough to bare your toes in sandals! Fun sparkly ones add a little extra interest to your look, and work with any printed dress you have. Bold scarves that match one of the colours in the print of your dress is a good way to stay warm in the colder mornings and evenings too.

Printed Dresses For The Office With Colourful Scarves and Balenciaga Bags

When I'm feeling uninspired picking workwear I make things easy on myself and pull on a printed dress! While both of these dresses are different styles and prints, they solved my 'no idea what to wear' dilema by becoming instant, easy outfits. I added some bright scarves and Balenciaga bags and I was ready for the office!

What I wore:

fern print black dress, jersey blazer, ankle boots and colourful pink purple blue accessories spring office wear | awayfromblue

Balenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag | awayfromblue

ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
DressLeona Edmiston Jemima fern print dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

I really liked the colours in this outfit, with pink blue and purple together. Not the first time I've worn that combination to the office. The pink statement earrings were won in a giveaway and I thought they worked perfectly with the pink fern print on the dress. Despite the earrings being gold and the hardware on the bag being silver, I think because they are far enough apart from each other the combination still works.

Originally when I'd put this together I had planned to wear my purple scarf, to match my purple bag. A text from my colleague the evening before reminding me we needed to wear blue that day made me pick this Louis Vuitton shawl instead. I adore this scarf so much, it's so cosy! As it's always cold in the office, I kept it on all day and matched the rest of the team wearing blue perfectly.

The ankle boots were a necessity with the cooler morning. Despite thinking the week before it was time to retire my tights, I was happy to have them this morning with the overcast and cooler day with lots of rain forecast.

Why I wore it:

A completely different look even though this follows the same outfit formula as the one above. I even wore the same blazer. I can't believe it's taken me this long to wear the orange crinkle scarf with this printed orange sheath dress, it's the perfect matchy-matchy layer!

With all of the colour in my scarf and outfit, I decided to go with neutral accessories this time, letting the scarf and dress be the touch of colour against all of the black. I really liked this outfit. You might recall me saying a few times I'm wary of wearing black with the orange dress as it reminds me of Halloween but I think it worked really well. When I was popping out to get lunch one of the sales people standing on the street complimented my outfit as I ran past shaking my head. Was nice of them to do that, but I was too busy to stop to see what they were selling!
