First up, the Shopbop friends and family sale has arrived! It's the big one!
Get 25% off everything, including already reduced sale items, with the code 'INTHEFAM'. Hurry as the good stuff usually sells out fast! I've already bought myself a little something....and I've shared my top picks below.
While baby has arrived, I used the start of my maternity leave before his arrival to get out and about and take outfit pictures every day so that I'd have some scheduled posts to share, allowing me time to embrace the newborn days and the standard new mum uniform of pyjamas!
I wore these two outfits to make the most of my maternity leave and run a heap of errands and last minute tasks to try be as organised as possible before baby arrived. It means dressing simply too, easy maxi dress outfits don't require a lot of thought and are comfortable to wear whatever the day has in store.
What I wore:
Dress: Jeanswest 'Sierra' embellished black maxi dress (on sale!)
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
Bag: Mulberry regular Alexa bag in foggy grey (get it pre-owned!)
Why I wore it:
I like the sparkly embellishment on this dress, so I usually save it for dressier occasions. However I noticed it hadn't been worn in a while so decided to dress it down a little with the casual Mulberry Alexa bag and wear it to go to playgroup with toddler T. Every time I wear this dress it makes me smile, even while pregnant, so I'm glad I wore it again.Doesn't need any extra accessories with the beaded neckline, so it's really simple to wear.
Surprised to see it's been 5 months since I wore this bag though! It was definitely overdue a wear.
Last worn: embellished maxi dress, Havaianas, Mulberry foggy grey Alexa bag.
Other ways to wear: embellished maxi dress layered up for winter, Mulberry foggy grey Alexa bag in the office.
More pretty maxi dresses under $100:
What I wore:
Sunnies: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dressShoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus House of Harlow sunburst wrap bracelet in cobalt
Bag: Mulberry regular Alexa bag in foggy grey (get it pre-owned!)
Why I wore it:
I liked the maxi dress and Mulberry Alexa combo above, so wore it again a few days later. Had a quiet day with a few errands to run in the morning.I didn't like this outfit as much as the one above. I wasn't sure what accessories to wear and kinda threw things on, although it looks okay in the photos I felt something was a little 'off' about the outfit all day.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, blue printed maxi dress, Havaianas (Above), Mulberry Alexa (above).
Other ways to wear: blue printed maxi dress without a baby bump, Mulberry Alexa and skinny jeans.

As a pregnant women you still manage to look absolutely fabulous! I have these visions that when I'm pregnant I'll turn into a slob and look like a minger!
ReplyDeleteCultivation of Jasmin
haha well whatever feels comfortable is what you should wear when pregnant! And if all else fails, a maxi dress is so easy to wear but looks really pulled together ;)
DeleteAw, so sweet of you to start your maternity leave early just so you could take more lovely outfit pics for us! :) I honestly admire your commitment, hun! x x I hope you and your baby are well, embracing the newborn days. <3 The first dress is absolutely gorgeous and so glamorous, I've said this before but you honestly look like a movie star! :D x x Loving the handbag - it's so versatile, so stylish but lovely for casual wear, also! Kisses. x

Haha I'd love to say that I took leave early just for the blog but the truth is I had a lot of annual leave saved up I had to take some of before my due date, when my official maternity leave had to begin.
DeleteYou are your harshest critic, it seems, as the outfit surely doesn't look off in the picture.

I love your maxi dresses! Especially the simplicity of the first one, you can never go wrong with black - fancy or not. Plus if it makes you feel good, all the better! Although I will say that I like the second outfit as well and because of the pattern I don't think you need too many accessories to begin with, but if it felt off, I guess you can't do much.
ReplyDeleteHope maternity leave is treating you well :)
Sam | http://mybeautycloud.com
Yep, just one of those days where I wasn't enjoying my outfit!
DeleteBoth maxi dresses are beautiful! So comfortable yet stylish. As usual, the choice of bags is impeccable.

I love clothes that make you smile when you wear them. I don't have too many of those at the moment, so I think I really need to go about fixing this!

DeleteI hate it when an outfit doesn't look quite right, but I think this looks perfect in the photos all the same.
