Weekday Wear Link Up: Blue Kimonos, Tanks, Denim Shorts, Sneakers and Rebecca Minkoff Bags

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, keeping things simple with kimonos and denim shorts again. Trying to break up the monochromatic look of blue denim shorts and navy printed kimonos with interesting tanks too.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Kensley summer tie-dye kimono
Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in chartreuse
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoes: Kmart white chunky platform sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

I loved this outfit! So much so that I repeated the Bermuda denim shorts, yellow tank and navy printed kimono outfit again, just with a different kimono a couple weeks later! I just loved the way the mustard tank went with the navy tie dye kimono. Colourful but also easy to pull together for a busy day. After the school run we hit up some local opshops, and then ran around a couple different supermarkets looking for last minute party things and cake ingredients for my son's party that weekend. Woolies really let me down there but by the second store that had no stock despite saying they had it online, I'd come up with another plan for my son's cake that thankfully worked well!

As my focus was on everything we needed to buy and do for the party, I kept accessories as easy as possible - blue necklace and blue bag to compliment all the different shades of blue in the navy tie dye kimono. And of course sneakers for a lot of running around!

Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue

Why I wore it:

This was such a humid day and since we were spending it outside I tried to pick a nice light outfit. This metallic tank was overdue a wear and such an easy combo with the distressed denim shorts. Wanted a cover up for my arms though despite the heat so went for this viscose kimono - it's lightweight and perfect on a humid day. Such a pretty navy print too!

Again I matched the accessories to the kimono with the navy tassel necklace and the blue Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack. The only issue with this outfit was that at one point while playing in the playground with the kids I'd had my phone out for taking a pic. Instead of putting it back in the backpack I put it into the pocket of my shorts. Mild panic sometime later when another parent picked up a phone on the other side of the playground and waved it around and I realised my phone wasn't in my bag or pockets. Thankfully the lock screen is a family pic of us so it was easy to prove it was my phone 😅 And thankfully it was an honest person who found it!

How You Can Wear It:

Blue being my favourite colour, I have a lot of blue kimonos, but this 'tank, denim shorts and accessories matching the colour of the kimono' outfit formula will work for any colourful kimono you have! Matching accessories to the colours in your kimono is an easy way to make a bright statement topper work in your outfit.

Olive and Black Outfits With White Jackets and Blue Mini MAC Bag

I feel I've been wearing a lot of black and olive recently! (Like here). It's a nice easy colour combination and it works well for autumn, even if I did try to lighten it up a little in these outfits with the white jacket and the blue mini MAC bag.

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag with black skinny jeans | away from the blue

Jacket: no label white drape jacket
Tank: Target embroidered khaki tank

ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

First wearing of jeans for the season felt like a big milestone! it was a bit of a wet day and not too humid so I thought the jeans were a good choice. These Nobody Denim siren skinny jeans are so comfortable and of course go with everything in a classic black. I was a little worried about the sleeveless tank in case it got colder so I added this white light jacket on top - it was the perfect layer and lightened this outfit up a bit too. With the pretty embroidery at the neckline, I didn't think it needed a necklace but I did add some cute statement earrings. While turquoise and gold I thought they went well with the sky blue mini MAC bag.

Easy outfit for a busy day, helping in my son's classroom in the morning, running some errands and a trip to the library with the little one before sports in the evening.

Last worn: white waterfall jacket, gold disc earrings, olive embroidered tank, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff sky blue mini MAC bag.

Other ways to wearwhite waterfall jacket and little black dress, olive embroidered tank and maxi skirt, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and floral kimono, New Balance sneakers and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff sky blue mini MAC bag and orange.

Perfect for pregnancywhite waterfall jacket in third trimester.

My Favourite Rebecca Minkoff Bag:

Shorts: Jeanswest Tessa olive embroidered shorts
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

Why I wore it:

Another olive and black outfit, again with a white topper, and another pair of gold and turquoise earrings! I followed Sheila's example and wore this to dress up for a zoom meeting at work. While I do wear actual clothes and not just loungewear on the days I work from home and do the school run, as you'd know from the simple outfits I share on those days I don't usually accessorise so much, that was just for the meeting. Made me feel nice and pulled together when I spent time with my mum in the afternoon too though.

I liked the gold and turquoise earrings and necklace to dress up this black striped tank and olive shorts outfit a little. I thought that the kimono was a nice way to dress it up a little more too, although with it being a quite humid day I took it off most of the time I was sitting at my desk.

I also got caught up with a high priority issue and missed most of the meeting so I was feeling a bit silly for actually bothering to try dress up at first - but it was nice to put some effort in even if few people saw it! I've been trying to wear my pretty earrings more to add a little extra touch to my outfits as I enjoyed this accessorising.

How You Can Wear It:

Olive and black is a classic combo of two neutrals together and it works well even if you have a little extra detail on one of your pieces, like the olive embroidery I've worn here. A white coverup like a kimono or jacket is a good way to lighten up the combo too.

Printed Dresses And Rebecca Minkoff Love Too Teal Crossbody Bag: Weekday Wear Link up

Sharing some printed dress outfits for today's Weekday Wear Link Up with my latest purchase, the adorable Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag in croc embossed deep teal. It's stunning and felt like the perfect touch with these pretty dresses. Works for two very different occasions too, as I was making the most of relaxed restrictions in Brisbane.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for my son's birthday party. Last year we had planned a party in the park with friends and family for his birthday, and then Coronavirus happened and we had to cancel it. So this year he was extremely excited to have a proper party! While it was a different theme from last year we picked the same park and invited all the same people and a few of his kindy friends along. He had a wonderful time!

I was extremely grateful that the weather held out - the park we chose is prone to flooding and the big wet was starting to set in. We are so lucky that the rain stopped the morning of the party, the park wasn't flooded yet and the rain didn't start again until we were driving home. It was such a good morning. Just so nice for him to have a normal party with his friends like we did before the virus - even if things were a little different with lots of hand sanitiser and individual food servings and cupcakes, rather than one big birthday cake and platters of shared food.

Wanted to dress up even though it was just a casual park party - this cute high-low mandala print maxi dress was overdue a wear, and with all the pretty colours in the print I thought the turquoise tassel earrings and necklace were good accessories. The teal Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag doesn't match any of the colours in the print but I think it went really well together - and it fit all my essentials as well as my camera for the party.

Last worn: turquoise tassel earrings, mandala print maxi dress, turquoise tassel necklace, gold sandals. First time I've worn the Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearmandala print maxi dress and denim jacket, gold sandals and blue dress.

Revealing My Rebecca Minkoff Love Too Bag:

Why I wore it:

This was another little return to normality! First time back in the office after over a year! After some big events at work our little team went into the office and had a team a lunch to celebrate, and I of course just had to wear my new bag I bought with my recent work rewards! I think the teal works so well with the blue and orange.

I'd been avoiding public transport since everything happened last year so it was strange being on a bus and being back in the office. It was rather unpleasant cleaning out all of the food and medication that I had left behind over a year ago, not knowing my last time in the office would be the last time! So nice to see people in person though and dress up in office wear again.

Had to go with this blue paisley print sheath dress, an office staple for me back in the day. And of course this orange blazer! That I bid for on eBay in 2020, won a few days later, and then by the time it arrived at my house I was already working from home in lockdown. Extremely poor timing! But good to get it out for a wear for the first time, over a year later.

Our office is open for people who want to work there, and has been for a while, although this was my first time venturing. A recent couple of cases outside of quarantine in Brisbane, and them being so close to when I was in the office as well as a brief lockdown a couple weeks later means I'm back to working from home for now sadly.

Last worn: statement necklace, paisley print sheath dress, gold mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag (above). First time I've worn the blazer as it was an office purchase before the first lockdown last year.

Other ways to wearpaisley print sheath dress worn belted, gold mouse flats worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancypaisley print sheath dress in second trimester, gold mouse flats in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

A handbag doesn't have to match your outfit to go with it! The teal Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag works with both of these outfits, despite not matching any of the colours in the printed dresses.
