Two ways To Wear a Navy Tank (With Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford Bag)

For today's weekday wear post I'm sharing two ways I've recently worn this navy tank. A breastfeeding piece I got when pregnant with my eldest boy, it's such a staple it's never left my wardrobe even though my breastfeeding days are behind me!

I'm continuing to blog as much as possible while the world is so uncertain, it's part of my routine and after 8 years of blogging and outfit photo taking it would be weird to stop! However, not going out as often and working from home has meant more loungewear, so I have less outfits to share as I only share pics of what I actually wear out the house.

While I've dropped my Wednesday post I'll still endeavour to post Monday and Fridays. In fact you'll see this navy top again in my 30 ways to wear post this Friday, as it's hit 30 wears!

Why I wore it:

Wore this to quickly pop out to do the school run and get groceries two weeks ago, which seems so long ago now. While social distancing wasn't as much of a thing then I thought this beautiful green floral duster kimono would help keep my personal space as it can billow out behind me when I walk quickly 😂 It also brought some extra colour to my outfit to cheer me up and boost my mood - grocery shopping has been a bit difficult lately with the shortages around and I needed something to make me smile.

The navy tank and the blue Bermuda denim shorts were another attempt to make me smile - blue is my favourite and go-to colour when I want to feel a little happier!

With the green kimono breaking up the blue a bit I thought this navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag would be a nice compliment to the blue tank and shorts. Normally I'd have more exciting things in mind for the first outings with a new bag, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to wear this bag while I still can! Even if it was just for the school run and grocery shopping.


Last worn: green duster kimono, coin and tassel necklace, navy breastfeeding tank, Bermuda denim shorts, New Balance sneakers. First time I've worn the bag as it is a recent purchase.

Unboxing My Latest Rebecca Minkoff Purchase:

No "what I bought this month" post up as with all the craziness in the world I only have this bag I bought to share, and a fun orange blazer I got preloved. I optimistically bid on it a few weeks before things changed in Australia, when I was still going into work and it eventually arrived on my second week of who knows how many weeks working from home. I'm hopeful it will make an appearance on the blog soon...but it is really an office piece!

Why I wore it:

Unlike the outfit above, I kept this completely monochromatic with navy and blue. I really like the navy Micro Bedford bag with the blue floral skirt, it was such a nice combination. The silver necklace is an older favourite and was a bit of matchy-matchy with the silver hardware on the micro Bedford bag, and silver ballet flats.

Another day of being mostly at home - I did pop out to the grocery store again after school drop off and helping in my son's classroom. It was the second time that week I'd been to the grocery store, hoping that there would be more in stock. Got a few more things from my list thankfully, but there were still a lot of bare shelves even with the newly implemented shopping limits.

Yes, we need shopping limits at all our grocery stores to stop people hoarding and panic buying! A couple in front of me had some of their shopping removed by the cashier because they hadn't stuck to the limits. Thankfully there was no angry outbursts or need for police intervention as I've seen around a lot lately. What a crazy world we live in!

Kmart Floral Dresses With Amerii Circle Straw Bag

Kmart and their cute and affordable floral dresses are just too hard for me to resist! While the teal dress I'm wearing below is a relatively new one my mum bought me for Christmas last year, the coral one is a frequently repeated one as I've had it a couple of years. Both are great additions to my wardrobe.

Why I wore it:

Wore this a few weeks ago, in the first week of March, when hubby surprised me with a night out. Back when a night out was still possible and sensible in Australia! With the kids at their grandparents, we headed into the city for dinner and a movie like we used to do while dating. We had a decadent dessert for dinner at Max Brenner before watching a movie in an otherwise empty cinema. We've never had a whole cinema to ourselves before!

There were of course other people around in the city, particularly at Southbank, but we kept remarking on how quiet it was. Of course now, a few weeks later, the then moderately full restaurants are now completely empty. How quickly the world changes.

As I had to pull an outfit together at short notice I went with a trusty maxi dress, and simple gold accessories with this gold necklace that was definitely over due a wear and my gold mouse flats. I added the waterfall jacket as it was a little breezy, especially when walking by the river. Being kid free I just needed my phone and wallet so this little straw bag was perfect.

Why I wore it:

I'll be honest - the bag is completely for show here, because what else would I do with my hands when taking a pic 😂 Unlike the outfit above, this outfit was planned out well in advance. With my son's birthday party last week we'd sent out the invites, bought all the cake ingredients, decorations, party bags, party favours...and then we were told to enforce social distancing in Australia. We figured maybe as it was in a park we would still be okay.... but then we were told that grandparents shouldn't see their grandkids.

So we very regretfully had to cancel my son's birthday celebrations. I know people around the world are dealing with worse and it's a minor inconvenience, but as a mum you don't want to see your kids upset!

We went ahead with the party at home, just us, his brother and the dogs. We still played party games, still had party food and all the decorations, and I still wore the outfit (and the bag!) I'd planned even though we didn't leave our house. I wouldn't ordinarily wear such a pretty dress if no-one would see it - but I felt like I should still put the effort in to get dressed up like I would if he'd had the party we planned.

A fun floral dress is an easy instant outfit and a great way to feel a little more dressed up. A neutral jacket is a nice layer for a cooler evening, or you can just let the dress shine on its own with minimal accessories and no additional layers.

3 Navy Tees And Bright Jeans Outfits With Balenciaga Bags: Weekday Wear Link Up

Trying to keep life as normal as possible, we still have the Weekday Wear Link up this week! I won't post again until Friday though, I'm skipping Wednesday's post.

Recently I took advantage of some of the cooler, slightly more autumn like weather in Brisbane to wear some of my colourful skinny jeans. Jeans are a mum staple and while I'm trying to stay away from the blue jeans rut I do love a bright pair of jeans to mix it up a little! Bright jeans are perfect for spring, or a little extra colour on a wet autumn day when you're on a training course which is when I wore these.

Why I wore it:

When I saw these magenta jeans I knew I'd be wearing them with all the blue in my wardrobe! I have a magenta bag I love so it was a no brainier when I saw these jeans on eBay. Already a bargain price, I ended up getting them for free. I tried to sum up the very long story in my shopping haul post.

Although the magenta jeans are pretty bright the neutral cream and metallic jacquard jacket balanced them out nicely I thought, and so I added more colour with other accessories. I really like pink and purple and blue together so this big purple Balenciaga work bag was an obvious choice, and I added the turquoise beaded statement necklace for something a little different.

This necklace has had a bit of a history, with it falling apart when my son grabbed onto it at dinner one day. I've repaired it and it was hanging together okay, but when trying to grab my umbrella out my bag and unwrap it the hook got caught on the necklace and there was no coming back from that! It was $3 at the opshop and I did get 4 wears from it so not too bad, but still disappointing!


Last worn: jacquard blazer, turquoise beaded necklace, navy tank, purple Balenciaga work bag, silver ballet flats. It's the first time I've worn the jeans on the blog as they are a recent purchase.

Why I wore it:

Another classic go to of mine - red and blue! I thought this navy tee was a good choice with these burgundy jeans. I bought these jeans back at the start of the year when Jeanswest was possibly closing down and I had to get myself a pair of their perfectly fitting jeans, in case it was my last pair! Thankfully the chain is staying around, although they have closed a lot of stores. I was pleased to give these jeans another wear with the cooler weather.

Again I added a bright Balenciaga bag for a little extra colour. With the black blazer and ballet flats I thought the turquoise Balenciaga first bag was a fun pop of colour, and it works so well with the navy and burgundy.

Why I wore it:

Blue and green is a combination I've only recently been trying, as I've slowly been adding green to my wardrobe over the past few years. These thrifted green jeans are getting a lot more wear than I expected, this is their 18th wear and I've only owned them 19th months. Since I don't wear jeans over summer that's a pretty good repeat rate!

Again I dressed up the casual jeans and tee outfit a bit with a statement necklace (this crystal one always gets compliments) and a boucle blazer. I thought the silver ballet flats worked well with the crystal in the necklace and the silver hardware on the Balenciaga day bag.
