What I wore:
Scarf: Alexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarf
Knit: SES fashions mustard marle knit jumper
Skirt: Noisy May long denim maxi skirt
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bag: Amerii medium sling rattan bag in black (c/o)
Why I wore it:
It was a really cold and windy day when I wore this - as you can see from my outfit being blown around a bit! It was so hard to get a pic without my scarf or hair over my face! I wasn't wearing leggings under this maxi skirt but I kind of wished I had - one of Brisbane's really cold winter mornings - the temps were down in single digits! Our plan for the day was to go to the playground but the wind and the freezing temperatures made that a very unattractive option! Instead we just headed out on a couple of errands inside the nearest shopping centre to stay warm and get outside the house for a bit.
Last worn: leather jacket, taupe skull scarf, mustard knit, chambray maxi skirt, black ankle boots, Amerii rattan bag.
Other ways to wear: black leather jacket at Disneyland, skull scarf and shift dress, mustard knit and jeans, chambray maxi skirt worn 30 ways, black ankle boots worn 30 ways, Amerii rattan bag and striped skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: black ankle boots in second trimester.

What I wore:
Earrings: Kmart blue fringe crescent statement earrings
Jumper: thrifted Valleygirl blue knit jumperNecklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Skirt: thrifted Billabong red printed maxi skirt
Shoes: Asos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag
Why I wore it:
In contrast to the day above, this was a much warmer day! No need for the extra leather jacket or scarf, and I wasn't wishing I'd worn leggings under my maxi skirt. Although I was wearing taller boots under it so my legs were pretty cosy!Just a quiet Sunday, with church in the morning and then Church Online in the afternoon. I really like blue and red together, and I've worn this red skirt with other blue tops in the past.
It's the first time I've tried the red bag and maxi skirt together though, it was a nice bit of matchy-matchy. Since the red micro Avery bag has gold hardware, I wore my navy and gold beaded necklace and navy and gold tassel earrings. I really liked this outfit, so nice and colourful and very comfortable!
Last worn: tassel earrings, beaded necklace, blue marle knit, red maxi skirt, tan boots, Rebecca Minkoff micro avery tote.
Other ways to wear: blue marle knit and purple jeans, red maxi skirt in summer, tan boots and skinny jeans, Rebecca Minkoff micro avery tote and shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: blue marle knit in first trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
A maxi skirt can be worn in cooler weather and isn't just a summer piece! I've been enjoying wearing my maxi skirts over winter. Adding a nice soft cosy knit is a great way to winterise a maxi skirt, adding a few more layers like a scarf and leather jacket for really cold days!Linking up with Fancy Friday, Fabulous Friday, Weekend Wear, Friday Faves, Lizzie In Lace.
The shades of blue in your skirt from outfit #1 and sweater in outfit #2 are so pretty on you. Thanks for sharing the link to church online - what a great resource that I am happy to check out!

Love the shade of blue on your skirt! Both outfits look great especially love the red bag, although here in Canada they would be considered summer outfits since winter is a bit colder than Australia.

Both these outfits look wonderfully comfy and stylish! I like maxi skirts in the winter too though cycling with them isn't great I've discovered in the last year!
ReplyDeleteOh I'd imagine cycling would be tricky!
DeleteI hate those days when it so cold outside that you can't do anything in it.

You are so right that you can layer looks with maxi skirts in a wonderful way. Both of your looks are the proof for this and I like how you have styled them. And I see that the first day was really a cold one!

Your second outfit has me all heart eyes! The colors together are bold and beautiful!! Love that combo!
ReplyDeleteI usually only wear my maxi skirts in the summer, it is usually rainy here in German winter, so they´d get soaked at the hem otherwise.
ReplyDeleterain does make them tricky! We usually get most of our wet weather over summer!
DeleteI love a good maxi skirt! I've been wearing a lot of maxi dresses this summer in the States because they are soo good for the office; I just throw on a jean jacket and go!

That rattan bag is gorgeous. Being a fan of maxi skirts, I love both of your outfits but, being a fan of lots of colour, the second one is my favourite! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat black bag is so cute! Hard to imagine it is so cold there with you, but you must be heading to the end of winter aren't you!

Glad I could inspire you! :)
DeleteI love that round black purse in the first set! It's so different than all of the other rattan ones I've been seeing (because it's not natural colored). I really like the moto jacket with the skirt in the first set, too. The skirt in the second one is beautiful and I love it with that sweater and the beautiful red purse!

I just had to get it in the black for that reason - so different and I love it! :)
DeleteI really enjoy wearing skirts in the winter too. You're right that they're not just for summer. I love both ways you styled your maxi skirts, but the first outfit is my favorite. I really love the color combination and your scarf is such a fine addition to the look.
ReplyDeleteKathrin | Polar Bear Style
The first outfit has that subtle edgy factor that I love and the second one is such a color-blocker's favorite! I really love the layering that goes into each outfit, Mica! I can see you're having fun with it too even though I know it must be really cold over there, at least, from my tropical body temperature perspective. LOL xoxo
ReplyDeletehaha yes we had some very cold winter days!
DeleteSuch cute outfits and I really love your bag too!
ReplyDeleteJessica | notjessfashion.com
Your winter outfits are all really pretty! I really love the colors in the second look! Red and blue are not colors I pair together often but they look great together.
