Denim Shorts, Camis, and Kimonos With Rebecca Minkoff Tote Bag

Wearing two H&M camis with denim and kimonos for some easy summer outfits. The camis and outfits themselves are different although both feature florals, denim, and a staple kimono for extra shoulder coverage, as well as my Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace: Kmart black and gold double strand beaded necklace (Christmas gift)
Cami: H&M mint v-neck cami
Shorts: Jeanswest Heather Bermuda short in black
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Wore this to enjoy a public holiday with the family back at the end of January. We headed yet again to another playground with a bike track for the kids to enjoy. With the high Covid cases in Brisbane after they opened the borders and removed the need for people to quarantine before entering the state, we've been preferring outdoor activities with lots of open spaces. I wasn't too sure if the park would be busy for the day off, but the cloudy day and frequent showers kept it quiet. It was a strange morning, very humid and cloudy, but once the first rain shower arrived it started to cool off.

This cute tropical floral print duster was a great topper over the mint cami and black Bermuda denim shorts outfit. I think it would have been too chilly without it. Luckily the rain was just a light drizzle for a few minutes every now and then so didn't stop the kids having fun, but eventually we had enough of it and headed home. In good timing too as the rain seemed to set in for a bit and get heavier after lunch time.

It was good to give this pretty black beaded necklace a wear - a Christmas gift that I hadn't gotten around to wearing yet as I got a few necklaces for Christmas. I thought it worked nicely with the black denim shorts and the black Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag, as well as matching the stripes on the Adidas Superstar sneakers. I do love a bit of matchy-matchy!

Last worn: floral print duster, mint camiblack Bermuda denim shorts, Adidas Superstar, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote. First time I've worn the black and gold double strand bead necklace as it was a Christmas gift.

Other ways to wearfloral print duster and jeans, mint cami with blue, black Bermuda denim shorts and a shirt dress, Adidas Superstar and floral dress, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote and maxi skirt.

Rebecca Minkoff Bags I Got For Christmas:

Cami: H&M blue floral crinkle knot front button down cami
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

This was such an easy outfit for another summer holiday playdate. This outfit is basically following the same formula as the last time I wore this cami, just with different coloured shorts, kimono and bag!

For a super hot day this light crinkle floral knot front cami was perfect, but I still wanted a little more sun coverage on my arms as it just has spaghetti straps, so I added this pretty blush kimono mum got me for Christmas. With the knot front this cami can feel a little short, even on my petite self, so I paired it with these high waisted Bermuda denim shorts. And comfortable Converse for running around in the playground with the kids.

I carried my big Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag but it wasn't really overly stuffed as I had a big green tote with a picnic blanket and some snacks for all the kids at the playdate. Despite the heat we ended up spending a lot of time at the park, which the kids loved, as I was having a great time chatting to my friend.

How You Can Wear It:

A cami and denim shorts is a nice outfit for a hot day, but for a little extra sun coverage for your shoulders, add a kimono on top! If you've got a plain cami you can go with a printed kimono, or for a printed cami try a block colour kimono like I have in the second outfit.

Dusters, Denim Skirts And Sneakers: Weekday Wear Link Up

Two more playground outfits for days out with the kids! School was postponed back in January due to high Covid cases, giving the kids an extra 2 weeks of summer school holidays to enjoy. And for us it means more fun playground trips! Sticking with a tried and true outfit formula for these days, with block colour tees, denim skirts, sneakers and printed dusters.

What I wore:

tropical floral print dusters with pink tee and denim skirt sneakers mini 5 zip bag | awayfromtheblue

Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | floral duster with denim skirt and pink tee

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace: terrazzo and wood rose gold bead necklace
TeeCotton On deep v tee in washed desert rose
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware (Christmas gift)

Why I wore it:

I wasn't too sure how this outfit would all work together. There is some pink in this tropical floral print duster, but the pink mini 5 zip bag and the dusty pink tee are different shades of it, and all are different each other. I decided to give it a go though, I hadn't worn this tee and duster together before and I do think this duster does with everything. With all the shades of pink I kept the rest neutral with the black New Balance sneakers and the black denim skirt, which was an awesome opshop find. Even the wooden and terrazzo necklace was a neutral touch. I ended up really liking this outfit and I'm glad I gave it a go!

We had a little trip to the library for the kids to get their prize for completing the summer reading challenge, and then it was off to the bike track. I only carried this little mini 5 zip bag for the essentials as I had our big reusable tote for the library with our water bottles. We ended up coming across a little baby bird on the ground at the bike track, so the kids spent more time looking at it than riding on their bikes really! Poor little thing was hopping around looking lost, but it had a very fierce mummy bird coming in to protect it every time the magpies got too close, so we knew it was being watched and left it alone. Even if I did have to call the RSPCA animal ambulance to confirm that was the right thing to do, to convince my son I was right to leave it and that he shouldn't try pick it up 😅 He's an animal lover and just wanted to help!

Last worn: floral maxi kimono, rose tee, terrazzo and wood rose gold bead necklace, black denim skirt, New Balance sneakers. First time I've worn the pink 5 zip bag as it was a Christmas present.

Other ways to wearfloral kimono and jeans, rose tee and culottes, black denim skirt and orange tee.

Why I wore it:

This was another eventful playground trip - but for all the wrong reasons! We headed to a playground that we hadn't been to for a few years, last time we went was for a toddler birthday party! I managed to get lost and nearly drive into a building site, but managed to figure out the right way in the end. The kids loved the playground but after we'd been playing for a while I went to clean my hands and realised I'd left my hand sanitiser behind at home. Luckily the park had some toilets and a little sink with soap, but it was a bit frustrating constantly walking across the playground to wash my hands after pushing the kids on the swings and equipment! While I was away from my bag on one of those hand washing trips a bird managed to poop on my bag too...still, that's meant to be good luck right? 😂

Despite everything going wrong and it turning out to be a very hot and humid day, the kids had a great time at the park. They really do see the best in things! I did wish I'd picked a shorter sleeved duster to cover up with as it was so humid, but this one turned out to be an okay choice as it was hard to find good spots in the shade to sit and watch the kids when they didn't need me to play with them. I was thankful for the physical sun block this provided, even if it was unbreathable polyester. With the sleeves rolled up it wasn't too hot, as you can see the sleeves roll up nicely.

Went with my big Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote to carry snacks and water bottles - and as soon as we got home I put hand sanitiser back in it, and made sure I had properly cleaned off the bird poop!

How You Can Wear It:

A bright tee and a black denim skirt is an easy summer outfit with sneakers - perfect for a morning at the playground with the kids. For a little extra colour or even just some physical sun coverage, you can add a printed duster. The outfit formula works really well with a plain block colour tee as you don't have to worry about the print clashing.

Printed Tees, Black Denim Skirts, Sneakers Rebecca Minkoff Unlined Tote

This has definitely been the summer of denim skirts! Once again I'm wearing two of my black denim skirts, with printed tees and my Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote for easy playground outfits with the kids. Much like my denim skirts, this tote bag has been on frequent repeat!

What I wore:

Necklace: rose gold and turquoise beaded necklace
TeeSass and Bide 'New Day Rising' tee in orange leopard print
SkirtNobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

After a rainy day previously, everything was still a little wet but it was shaping up to be a sunny and dry day so we headed to another bike track for the kids to get some of their energy out. they were even able to have a play in the adjacent playground after as everything dried up quickly.

I absolutely adore this Sass and Bide neon leopard print tee but I wear it so rarely, it definitely should be one I reach for more often. It works so well with denim so I knew it would look nice with this distressed Nobody Denim skirt. With the black denim skirt, black New Balance sneakers and black studded tote bag, I added the turquoise and gold necklace for another little pop of colour and to stop this looking too Halloween-y with the black and orange!

What I wore:

Necklace: Kmart rose gold and pink beaded necklace
TeeAtmos&Here navy stripe v-neck tee
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Wearing some old favourites with a new kimono I got for Christmas! This pretty blush pink kimono is going to go with so many outfits. A striped tee and denim skirt is a great outfit on it's own, but I like how the pink kimono added a little extra sun coverage and a bit more colour to this outfit. It is a really nice colour with the navy stripes on the tee and the black denim skirt, which was a December opshop find and just $1!

While the pink and rose gold necklace doesn't match the shade of pink in the kimono exactly I thought it was a nice combination together. And the Adidas Superstar sneakers were comfortable for yet another day at a bike track and playground. Really been enjoying the open spaces of the bike tracks this summer, with all the Covid cases around in Brisbane.

Again I went with my Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote bag, it's nice with the black denim skirt and it holds snacks and water bottles for us all so well.

Last worn: navy stripe tee, blush and rose gold necklace, black denim skirt, Adidas Superstar sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote (above). First time I've worn the kimono as it was a Christmas gift.

Other ways to wearnavy stripe tee and skinny jeans, black denim skirt and orange tee, Adidas Superstar sneakers and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancynavy stripe tee in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

A tee and denim is a summer style staple! For something a little different you can try a brightly coloured printed tee with denim, like I've worn in the first outfit, or add a little extra colour to a classic stripe tee and denim outfit with a kimono like in the second outfit.

Blue Printed Maxi Skirts, Text Tees And Rebecca Minkoff Tote

Two very comfortable outfits I wore back in January when I was recovering from my wisdom teeth surgery. Simple text tees, printed maxi skirts, sneakers and the always practical Rebecca Minkoff studded unlined tote bag.

What I wore:

TeeThe Collective Store Love Local tee in black
Skirt: Jeanswest Farrah blue tie dye maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Wore this tee for a little bit of local shopping! While I'd been stuck at home for almost a week recovering from surgery I'd anticipated feeling better on this day so I'd booked the kids in for a school holiday workshop a few weeks prior, and then we set off to get some essentials that we hadn't been able to get in our regular grocery shop due to the explosion of Covid cases. While the big supermarkets had very little choice and a lot of empty shelves, as hoped for all the local independent stores and the IGA had what we needed. It really pays to shop local!

Had an appointment with the surgeon in the afternoon to check up on post-surgery complications and see why my recovery wasn't going as well as expected too.

Thought this Love Local tee would be a very appropriate one to wear for the day, and I really just wanted an easy and comfortable outfit as I anticipated having to travel around a few shops to get what we needed. This oversized tee tucks in nicely to the tie dye maxi skirt and I like black and blue together. The black Converse and black Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag matched it nicely as well.

Last worn: Love Local tee, tie dye maxi skirt, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote.

Other ways to wearLove Local tee worn knotted, tie dye maxi skirt and denim jacket, black Converse and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote and dress.

Perfect for pregnancyblack Converse in second trimester.

Tee: Jimmy Rees Pfiiiiizer darling vaxed tee (Christmas gift)
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue

Why I wore it:

Didn't take a proper photo of this outfit in my back yard as usual! This was only a couple days after surgery and my face was still significantly swollen up. Thank goodness you couldn't tell once I had the face mask on! We took the kids out that morning for their first vaccine, as they were only eligible for it here from the 10th January. I really wasn't feeling great and slept a lot when we got home but I'd booked the first slot I could for them, knowing it was close to my surgery date but that being a bit sore and uncomfortable was a small thing to deal with to make sure they were vaccinated.

I'd planned my outfit in advance as I knew I'd not have the energy that morning! Again, like the above it was a simple text tee with a printed maxi skirt. This navy striped skirt goes with everything and it worked well with my Pfiiizer tee that my sister got me for Christmas. (Jimmy Rees being an Australian treasure!) I thought it fitting to wear for the kids vaccine appointment, it made me smile!

The black Rebecca Minkoff tote bag again was a good practical choice as it fits everyone's water bottles inside easily. The little reusable tote bag was one they gave the kids with some activities and stickers for while they were waiting around before leaving the venue, which was helpful.

Last worn: navy stripe maxi skirt, blue Converse, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote (above). First time I've worn the tee as it was a Christmas present.

Other ways to wearnavy stripe maxi skirt and denim jacket, blue Converse and denim skirt, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote and dress.

How You Can Wear It:

Just like shorts and a tee, a maxi skirt and tee is an equally comfortable summer outfit! A fun printed one can add a little interest to a neutral grey or black tee as I've worn here.

Weekday Wear Link Up: Striped Dresses and Rebecca Minkoff Unlined Tote

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, sharing two outfits I wore recently where I added a little extra colour to some neutral striped dresses with colourful statement necklaces. Carried all the essentials and more in this awesome Rebecca Minkoff studded unlined tote bag I got for Christmas.

What I wore:

Target navy and white striped shift dress with frill sleeves, statement necklace and black rebecca minkoff medium unlined tote studded hardware | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware, navy striped dress | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: Ruby Olive Art series long striped pod necklace
Dress: Target navy and white striped shift dress with frill sleeves
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

This was a fun day! We spent some time with my mum down by the bay. The tide was in so we couldn't walk across to King Island as we have in the past, but it was perfect weather for playing in the sea! We followed up with a lovely ice cream and takeaway for lunch too, before heading home and baking some cookies in the afternoon. Was just a really nice relaxed day!

Wore my new-to-me Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote I got as a present. It's the best for holding all the water bottles and snacks needed for an outing! I like black and navy together too so I had no issues wearing the black tote with this navy and white striped dress. I did feel the outfit needed a little more colour though so I added this fun bright necklace, such a good accessory.

Last worn: navy striped shift dress, colourful beaded necklace, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote.

Other ways to wearnavy striped shift dress and sneakers, studded tote and maxi skirt.

What I Got For Christmas:

DressCotton On 'Tina' white striped tee dress in Lissy black / Gardenia
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

This was a busy day back at the start of January. Took some time out of the summer school holidays to complete all of those last minute essential tasks for back to school time. Took the kids out to get a few more things off the booklist as well as buying new school shoes. A bit of an expensive day! It was a productive day though, crossed everything we needed off our list and treated ourselves to a nice lunch afterwards too.

Wanted a really easy outfit as I expected it to be a hectic day at the shops. It was a lot quieter than I expected walking around the shopping centre though. It was of course still busy in the Back to School aisles and in the shoe store though, we weren't the only ones doing school shopping!

This Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote was great for carting around snacks and water bottles along with all the essentials, and I appreciated how light the bag was as I was quickly laden down with even more bags of school necessities! With the black bag, black sneakers and black and white dress I thought this outfit needed a pop of colour so I added this awesome turquoise necklace I thrifted just before Christmas - just $1 at the opshop! Was the perfect finishing piece with this outfit.

Last worn: black and white striped tee dress, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote (above). First time I've worn the turquoise multi strand necklace as it was a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearblack and white striped tee dress layered for winter, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote and maxi skirt.

How You Can Wear It:

A simple striped dress is an easy instant outfit for a hot day. You can always add more colour and interest to your outfit with a statement necklace too.

Maxi Skirts and Striped Tees

I love tee and maxi skirt outfits in summer! And with block colour maxi skirts like these, a striped tee makes such an easy outfit.

TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in eddy stripe white / red terracotta
Skirtthrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagRebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag in burgundy

Why I wore it:

This was a busy morning! Went with an outfit I'd been meaning to try for a while. I really liked this burgundy Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag with my rust ruffle skirt last time I wore it so I knew it would look good with this rust maxi skirt. The burgundy striped tee was an extra bit of matchy-matchy with the bag and I really liked this outfit! Added the navy necklace for a little extra colour and because I like adding these beaded necklaces when I'm not sure what other necklace to go with - the neutrals go with everything.

Wore my New Balance sneakers as there was a bit of driving around! The kids had a school holiday workshop and I had a couple of errands to run before sports in the afternoon. This Avery crossbody was perfect for all my essentials, including my face mask as masks are required indoors again in Brisbane. And I even had time for a sneaky solo opshop browse! I added my lucky thrift find I picked up then to my haul video below.

What I wore:

striped Coca-Cola logo tee with black maxi skirt black unlined tote bag | awayfromblue

striped tee with Rebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware | awayfromtheblue

Tee: thrifted navy stripe Coca-Cola logo tee
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Another busy but fun day! The kids had a school holiday craft in the morning, we had to pick up a few groceries, then we spent some time at the playground before stopping by the opshop on the way home. They had an "everything for $1" sale on which was perfect for me, I picked up a few clothes and accessories and my sons got a board game for just $1! As you can see from the video above I got some great fashion finds! I took advantage of my leave from work to visit a few opshops I wouldn't usually get to so it was a bumper haul of preloved bargains as well as the $1 sale day finds. After all that morning excitement it was home for lunch before a playdate at the park with my son's school friends in the afternoon.

I think the outfit bought me good luck while opshopping, as both the striped Coca-Cola logo tee and the black ruffle hem maxi skirt are thrift finds! I liked the navy striped tee with the black maxi skirt and the black Rebecca Minkoff studded unlined tote bag carried everything we needed for the day easily!

How You Can Wear It:

A striped tee is a wardrobe staple and it looks great with a block colour maxi skirt for a simple summer outfit!
