Denim Shorts, Camis, and Kimonos With Rebecca Minkoff Tote Bag

Wearing two H&M camis with denim and kimonos for some easy summer outfits. The camis and outfits themselves are different although both feature florals, denim, and a staple kimono for extra shoulder coverage, as well as my Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag.

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace: Kmart black and gold double strand beaded necklace (Christmas gift)
Cami: H&M mint v-neck cami
Shorts: Jeanswest Heather Bermuda short in black
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Wore this to enjoy a public holiday with the family back at the end of January. We headed yet again to another playground with a bike track for the kids to enjoy. With the high Covid cases in Brisbane after they opened the borders and removed the need for people to quarantine before entering the state, we've been preferring outdoor activities with lots of open spaces. I wasn't too sure if the park would be busy for the day off, but the cloudy day and frequent showers kept it quiet. It was a strange morning, very humid and cloudy, but once the first rain shower arrived it started to cool off.

This cute tropical floral print duster was a great topper over the mint cami and black Bermuda denim shorts outfit. I think it would have been too chilly without it. Luckily the rain was just a light drizzle for a few minutes every now and then so didn't stop the kids having fun, but eventually we had enough of it and headed home. In good timing too as the rain seemed to set in for a bit and get heavier after lunch time.

It was good to give this pretty black beaded necklace a wear - a Christmas gift that I hadn't gotten around to wearing yet as I got a few necklaces for Christmas. I thought it worked nicely with the black denim shorts and the black Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag, as well as matching the stripes on the Adidas Superstar sneakers. I do love a bit of matchy-matchy!

Last worn: floral print duster, mint camiblack Bermuda denim shorts, Adidas Superstar, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote. First time I've worn the black and gold double strand bead necklace as it was a Christmas gift.

Other ways to wearfloral print duster and jeans, mint cami with blue, black Bermuda denim shorts and a shirt dress, Adidas Superstar and floral dress, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote and maxi skirt.

Why I wore it:

This was such an easy outfit for another summer holiday playdate. This outfit is basically following the same formula as the last time I wore this cami, just with different coloured shorts, kimono and bag!

For a super hot day this light crinkle floral knot front cami was perfect, but I still wanted a little more sun coverage on my arms as it just has spaghetti straps, so I added this pretty blush kimono mum got me for Christmas. With the knot front this cami can feel a little short, even on my petite self, so I paired it with these high waisted Bermuda denim shorts. And comfortable Converse for running around in the playground with the kids.

I carried my big Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag but it wasn't really overly stuffed as I had a big green tote with a picnic blanket and some snacks for all the kids at the playdate. Despite the heat we ended up spending a lot of time at the park, which the kids loved, as I was having a great time chatting to my friend.

How You Can Wear It:

A cami and denim shorts is a nice outfit for a hot day, but for a little extra sun coverage for your shoulders, add a kimono on top! If you've got a plain cami you can go with a printed kimono, or for a printed cami try a block colour kimono like I have in the second outfit.

  4. What a pretty duster. Seeing these pictures is a little disorienting, though; here in New York we're in the dead of Winter with snow on the ground. I forget that in Australia your seasons are reversed.

  5. Two easy Summer outfits, Mica, and I love them both. I totally understand that you are preferring outdoor entertainments for the kids. It would be a bit difficult to achieve here, as it's been very cold and wet. With stormy weather here today, it is quite difficult to imagine a Summer's day! xxx

  8. I noticed the necklace in the first outfit right away, Mica! It's the perfect amount of detail for the outfit. I like the pink kimono better in this outfit - it works well with the high-waist trousers. This outfit displays advanced proportions! Well done!

Have a wonderful weekend, my dear friend!

  15. Hi
Your looks are wonderful to wear in the summer! I liked the second look most because it is more colorful, dark colors are not my favorites in summer! Have a great weekend!

  16. Beautiful outfits both of them. The first kimono is so cute with that outfit and it's great it provided some coverage once it started raining. It is good that the rain didn't get too much in your way that way. I love the second styling as well. Lovely top and shorts. Perfect combo for a hot day. The pastel pink duster your mother got you is gorgeous. Simply ideal with that outfit. I like to add layers when the sun is very strong, it helps with the sun coverage.

  18. It is wonderful that you are making time for outdoor activities. That is definitely a great way to keep the family busy and entertained...but still stay safe. Love what you wore that day. The floral kimono is such a wonderful piece to have in your wardrobe. It is so glam! That being said, that dusty pink kimono is BEAUTIFUL. Such a fantastic way to add in a gorgeous pop of colour.
