What I wore:
Necklace: thrifted purple wooden bead statement necklace
Dress: thrifted Kmart short sleeve godet skirt linen blend dress in fuchsia
Belt: came with dress
Shoes: thrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Chloe small Ethel bag in light khaki
Why I wore it:
I adore this dress! Fellow Aussies probably recognise it as the fuchsia linen dress from Kmart back in summer 2020 that was all over Insta. I was absolutely thrilled to stumble across this in the opshop, and for just $1! Someone had cut out the size label, so I was really pleased to find it fit when I tried it on. The necklace was another thrift find at the same store too, for just $2. Combined with the $3 thrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers from another opshop, this really is a bargain outfit. Even the bag itself was a second hand find on eBay, just $120 which isn't bad for something that retailed for over $1,249. I've had a lot of great luck opshopping and second hand shopping this year and this outfit shows that well!Despite the rain falling down behind me it was a very humid day. It would rain and cool off slightly, then the humidity would crank up, then it would rain again. Perfect day for a bit of indoor shopping at the nearest shopping centre after school drop off - although everyone else in Brisbane seemed to have the same idea to get out of the rain and enjoy the break in the humidity from the aircon! This was the best dress to wear, comfortable in the humidity but not too cool in the shops with my shoulders covered. We had a productive day, crossing a few more Christmas presents off our list and visiting the library as well before school pick up in the afternoon. Luckily the rain had stopped then.
Last worn: Adidas Superstar sneakers, Chloe light khaki Ethel bag. First time I've worn the necklace and dress as they are recent purchases.
Other ways to wear: Adidas Superstar sneakers and denim skirt, Chloe light khaki Ethel bag and jeans.
November's Opshop Haul:
What I wore:
Necklace: thrifted orange bead statement necklace
Dress: Asos grey skater dress
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Chloe small Ethel bag in light khaki
Why I wore it:
Just like the dress above, this has a fitted waist and a flared skirt, although this outfit was not as cheaply priced as the one above. This dress was a retail buy, although I did pick it up in the sale! The Converse were a full price buy before a trip and turned out to be a good investment - I've had them since my now husband and I were dating and we've been married over 10 years!I find I like wearing this grey dress more when I add some colour to it, and this newly thrifted necklace was a perfect fit with the kimono, I like how it matched the orange in the print. The Chloe Ethel bag was a nice neutral choice with all the orange colour and I think it went well with the colours in the kimono too. It fits a lot as well so came in helpful for holding water bottles and a couple of distraction toys for the kids in church that morning.
Last worn: orange printed kimono, orange beaded necklace, grey skater dress, black Converse, Chloe small Ethel bag (above).
Other ways to wear: orange printed kimono and chambray dress, grey skater dress and leather jacket, black Converse and jeans, Chloe small Ethel bag and midi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: grey skater dress in second trimester, Converse in second trimester.
Last worn: orange printed kimono, orange beaded necklace, grey skater dress, black Converse, Chloe small Ethel bag (above).
Other ways to wear: orange printed kimono and chambray dress, grey skater dress and leather jacket, black Converse and jeans, Chloe small Ethel bag and midi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: grey skater dress in second trimester, Converse in second trimester.
How You Can Wear It:
A block colour dress with a flared skirt works perfectly for summer - rain or shine! It's easy to add a little extra colour with a beaded necklace or kimono, and a neutral bag is always a winner.
In love with this pink dress! Its so pretty :) The khakhi bag is just wow! You are looking gorgeous as always. Have a great day!

We don't have many consignment stores around us but I love the opshops that often have everything for $1 sales!
Deletegray is my go to color and when I was younger I never liked it! Go figure, I like to add that pop of color with a shawl or scarf since it's winter here. You look great!
ReplyDeleteThese are both nice. I really like the bold pink :-D
ReplyDeleteI love that 1st dress and I can't believe you got it for $1. Of course both dresses look amazing on you. I wish I had a thrift store in my neighborhood. I hope you have a nice weekend Mica.

Thanks Anne! I look forward to getting 30 wears with the pink dress :)
DeleteBoth outfits (especially the first one) are lovely! I'm afraid, though, the color of the bag doesn't suit any of them.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful end of week!
I really like the caramel colour with both outfits but it's definitely not for everyone :)

I adore your pink dress, Mica - it looks wonderful on you. The bag is a warm neutral and feels clashy with these outfits. I want it to go with oranges, reds, browns...it feels off with pink and the greys of the second outfit.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend! I'm doing a Zoom call tonight with my uncle in Melbourne! We're on a 19 hour time difference, so it's 3pm tomorrow/Sat for him, ha ha.
It's nice you could do the zoom call! I liked the bag with the pink and I've already reworn the kimono from the second outfit with the bag again - I really like the combo, the grey dress just maybe not the best base! :)
DeleteNice skirt/dress.
ReplyDeleteWow, these dresses are so wonderful! And looks amazing on you! Really nice styling dear
