Christmas Outfits: Red Santa Scarf Worn Three Ways

Happy Christmas Eve!

Like all of my blog posts, this one is scheduled in advance. I will be spending the day with my family. On Christmas Eve we decorate cookies, do Christmas crafts, and watch Christmas movies. To keep in the festive spirit, I'm sharing 3 of my recent Christmas themed outfits with this Santa scarf from Fashion Scarf Girl (c/o).

What I wore:

Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl red Santa scarf (c/o)
TeeJeanswest Kaylin star foil grey tee
ShortsJeanswest Sara distressed hot short
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag

Why I wore it:

This is what I wore for our annual pre-Christmas shopping trip! All the girls in the family go out for the day, picking up last minute gifts for others and buying gifts for each other when we see things we have to have. It's such a fun tradition and even if we don't manage to buy a lot we always have a great time!

Last year I wore a pretty dress, but this year the kids came along so I thought shorts were a more practical choice! Added a little festivity to my printed tank and shorts outfit with this fun scarf. The red Rebecca Minkoff mini Avery bag was a nice bit of matchy matchy red too.

Last worn: star print foil tee, black denim shorts, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery bag.

Bracelets: the usual plus Edenborough Evans 'Ivy' silver cuff

Why I wore it:

Another Christmas event, another opportunity to wear this Santa scarf! I wore it with black again, this plain black halterneck maxi dress was a lovely backdrop and really let the scarf shine. Perfect for an end of year celebration dinner with some other mums from my local Australian Breastfeeding Association. I quickly got changed after work into this, a simple outfit but so comfortable to wear for dinner.

As I was kid free, I made the most of it and picked this adorable little Rebecca Minkoff small love bag to hold my essentials. Another cheerful pop of colour!

Why I wore it:

Last but not least, wore this to take the boys to White Christmas at Movie World. It was the first time we've been to White Christmas and the first time the boys had been to Movie World! In December, the park opens for a few hours in the evening to allow you to enjoy the Christmas festivities.

With a big Christmas parade, snow falling and so many Christmas themed activities, the Santa scarf was an obvious choice. With a simple shorts and a tank outfit, as it was still hot and I had anticipated going on a lot of rides with the boys!

Again I paired the red Santa scarf with the Rebecca Minkoff Avery bag - it's such a nice combo!

Last worn: striped tank, distressed denim shorts, silver glitter sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Avery bag (above).

Santa Scarves Under $50:

(grab one in the sales for next year!)

How You Can Wear It:

An easy way to make an outfit festive without spending a lot is by adding an accessory. This Santa scarf works perfectly for winter, but what about a heart print scarf for Valentine's day, or a bunny printed clutch for Easter? Accessories are a cheap and cheerful way to change up an outfit and make it festive for an occasion.

No matter what you're wearing or what you're doing, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and get to experience God's peace and love in your life. Merry Christmas!

Denim Shorts, Slouchy Tees, Printed Scarves and Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote

When I bought these tees from Jeanswest in the sale a few months ago, I didn't expect them to become as much of a staple as they have! I already have a few slouchy tees in my wardrobe, something just makes me keep picking out these tees. They are loose and light, perfect for a hot day when paired with denim shorts. To keep my outfits interesting, I added in a print with my lighter scarves. Both these blue scarves are made from viscose.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

This outfit was a hastily pulled together last minute one, but it doesn't look it! I love how a scarf makes your outfit feel more pulled-together. I was in a bit of a rush that morning to get the boys ready and out the door to go to our local ABA group catch up. The blue printed scarf wasn't a necessary addition - I certainly didn't need it to stay warm! - but it was a great completer piece for an otherwise basic shorts and tee outfit. I really liked the red and blue together too.

These studded Rebecca Minkoff sandals are becoming a frequent go-to when I want to wear my Louis Vuitton neverfull tote - they just go perfectly together and with every outfit!

We had a busy morning with some errands to run after our ABA meeting so I picked my neverfull tote to carry everything we needed around the shopping centre and I could leave the bulky and heavy baby bag in the car!

Last worn: tree print scarf, red slouchy tee, Bermuda denim shorts, studded gladiator sandals, Louis Vuitton neverfull.

Other ways to weartree print scarf with green pants, red slouchy tee and pencil skirtBermuda denim shorts worn 30 ways, studded gladiator sandals worn 30 ways, Louis Vuitton neverfull and maxi dress.

TeeJeanswest Emma woven trim tee in dark green
ShortsJeanswest Sara distressed hot short
Shoes: Kmart sparkly silver glitter sneakers
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

A slightly less hectic start to the morning with this outfit! It was another hot day, but there was a bit of a breeze so this time around the scarf was added for a little extra warmth! I seem to wear this navy mixed print scarf with a lot of olive, this dark olive tee was a natural pairing with it when trying to figure out what to wear that morning.

While these glitter shoes were only $8 at Kmart, I've found them to be really comfortable shoes, so I figured I'd switch things up a little from my Converse and take them out on a stroll through the mangroves. I can't find a definitive answer on the length of the walk online, but the walk is part boardwalk part path through a little bit of bush. Other Bayside locals will know where I mean. It took us nearly 2 hours, lots of stopping to pat dogs walking along, or talk to fishermen, or watch trains once we climbed to the top of the hill. The breeze was perfect for stopping us from overheating, and my scarf came in handy when the wind got too much as we got further out into the bay.

We will need to take Cooper next time - we had to stop at the grocery store afterwards so he had to stay home this time.

Again I carried my big neverfull tote for everyone's water bottles, I didn't feel like carrying the heavy baby bag all the way around the walk!

Last worn: mixed print scarf, olive slouchy tee, black distressed denim shorts, Kmart glitter sneakers, Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Slouchy Tees Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A plain slouchy tee is a wardrobe basic and a mum essential. You can't beat a shorts and tee outfit or summer. If you need to change up the outfit a little or you just want to add some extra interest, try a printed scarf! Scarves draped loosely around your neck and made from a light fabric like the viscose these ones are made of will introduce a fun print without overheating you. You can wrap them a little tighter around when it gets cooler in the mornings or evenings, or when you're caught in the breeze being out on the water.

Printed Tanks and Pencil Skirts For The Office With Rebecca Minkoff MAM Bag

I think the one item of clothing I have most of in my wardrobe is printed tanks! They work so well for my casual stay at home mum days, but also in the office too with a blazer on top. The two I'm wearing below are some of my favourites, gifts from my mum. Keeping things simple and letting the printed tanks be the stars of my outfits, I picked neutrals for everything else, including this grey Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag.

What I wore:

TankJeanswest Elissa leaf print tank
SkirtJeanswest zip detail ponte pencil skirt
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

As much as I loved this outfit, it was my hair that got a lot of love on Instagram 😅 It's day 3 of the curls from when I curled my hair for our annual Christmas family photo. This is the hair curler I use.

I felt with the relaxed hair and long tassel necklace, the grey blazer was the perfect way to dress this outfit up a bit more for a busy day with a few big meetings. I had a bit of a giggle when I went to write this post and realised everything is from Jeanswest, except the shoes and bag! The jersey blazer and pencil skirt were comfortable and perfect for the cooler office, despite the warmer day outside.

With the pastel pink, red and blue in the print of the tank and the turquoise tassel on the necklace, I thought this grey Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag was the perfect neutral accessory to wear with it. And it felt like a while since I last wore the bag, it was definitely overdue a wear!

Last worn: grey jersey blazer, dangly earringstassel necklace, fern print tank, black pencil skirt, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB.

Other ways to weargrey jersey blazer and striped dress, fern print tank worn two ways, black pencil skirt over a dress, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats and skinny jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB and denim shorts.

Necklace: silver heart long pendant necklace
Tank: Emerson crochet lace bib print top
SkirtJeanswest black ponte pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

This tank always makes me smile when I wear it. Red is a cheerful colour to wear,  and I also like this as I've had it for a few years and wore it through my pregnancies with my boys. It's nice being able to enjoy a piece in your wardrobe you've had for years.

I've worn this top casually with jeans and a few times to the office with pencil skirts. Like the printed tank above, I think it looks lovely tucked into a classic black pencil skirt. I picked a simpler silver heart pendant necklace to wear with this, and silver ballet flats to match the necklace and hardware on the MAM bag. I did have a cover up for in the office too, but it was much too hot and humid in the morning to want to take a pic with it on. I shared a pic with my cosy cardi on Twitter.

Of course I couldn't stop at just the shoes, bag and necklace matching, I had to add a red hair tie to my hair to tie in with the print on the tank! I bought a huge bunch of colourful hair ties in a Priceline sale a while back and every now and then I'll be able to match the hair tie to my outfit!

Last worn: red crochet print tank, silver heart necklace, black pencil skirt, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag (above).

Other ways to wearred crochet print tank and shorts, black pencil skirt and printed shirt, silver ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag and maxi skirt.

Printed Tanks Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A printed tank can easily work for a business casual office. It's a fun way to add a little colour to a neutral suit or suit separates. If you need to dress a little more formally, you can cover up the casual tank with a blazer to make it look more office appropriate. The blazer has the added bonus of keeping you warm in the cold air con too!

Print Mixing: Striped Tanks, Shorts and Floral Kimonos With Cross Body Bags

Just like last summer, I'm finding kimonos and shorts are a frequent go-to option in the heat. To mix things up a little, I tried some print mixing, adding floral print kimonos on top of the striped tanks. I always love print mixing with stripes, they just go with everything.

What I wore:

navy floral kimono and Rebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red | away from the blue

Necklace: Diva long red heart necklace
TankAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
Shortsthrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (on sale in blue!)

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a very hot and humid day! We took the boys to the Bayside steam railway again. It's a huge set of miniature train tracks and you get to sit on the carriages of mini steam trains and zip around the tracks. One of the safety requirements is closed in shoes, so I wore my Converse despite the humidity.

The striped tank looked great worn just with the shorts alone, but I wanted to cover up my shoulders a little as it was such a sunny day. Like last time we went to the steam railway, I added a kimono on top. This one was a lucky thrift find. I always look in opshops for kimonos but over the years this is the only one I've found! With the red birds in the print, the red Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag seemed like the perfect accessory. Despite the small size, it comfortably held the essentials and the boys water bottles so I had them handy as we went for rides on the train. Turns out that sitting on the back of a tiny train as it steams through the trees creates a lovely cooling breeze too, it was such an enjoyable morning.

After riding on the trains, we walked over to the nearby park to let the boys run around a bit more, but the heat quickly sent us back home to cool off in the air conditioning!

Other ways to wearfloral and bird print kimono and maxi dress, black striped tank and maxi dress postpartum, distressed denim shorts and grey knit, Converse and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag worn 30 ways.

Why I wore it:

Despite having the same outfit formula as what I wore above, I didn't like this outfit as much. I love all of the pieces on their own, this is one of my frequently worn kimonos and you can't beat a classic white striped tank! I just felt it all looked a little off together. I did like how comfortable this was for a morning out with the boys though. We went to the local library and they played a bit in the playground before lunch.

I didn't hate this outfit - there were some things about it I really liked, like how well the pastel pink shorts went with the Rebecca Minkoff peony Darren messenger bag! I will definitely be wearing those two pieces together again!

Striped Tanks Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Stripes and florals are so fun to wear together! A colourful floral kimono is such an easy piece to add to a summer shorts and striped tank outfit too. It doesn't overheat you but allows you to add more colour and interest to what you're wearing. A basic striped tank is a must have piece you can wear so many different ways.

Black Dresses For The Office With Pink Scarves and Rebecca Minkoff Darren Messenger Bag

You can add scarves to warm weather outfits by thinking a little differently about how you wear them. While these two scarves are very different, they are both pretty shades of pink and work so nicely with these little black dresses for the office. I continued the pink theme with my peony Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag.

What I wore:

Hermes twilly scarf worn in hair as headband hairbow with black lace dress and pastel pink bag | awayfromblue

black lace dress, silver bracelet stack and Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony | awayfromtheblue

NecklaceHouse of Harlow 5 station necklace in black and silver
DressJeanswest 'Gisele' contrast lace dress
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony

Why I wore it:

It was Melbourne Cup day so once again I broke out my Hermes twilly to tie around my hair like a headband. I did the same thing last year! This year we weren't having a big lunch like we usually do, just a few snacks to watch the race. I was stuck working on an urgent issue and missed the race and the snacks.

I wanted to feel a little more dressed up than usual for the occasion - you see so many people wearing the prettiest dresses around the office and in Brisbane on race day. This little black lace dress which sometimes seems too dressy for work was the perfect piece to wear. I really liked the way the peony pink Darren bag worked with the lace on the dress too. Was good to give this dress another wear, it's one of the little worn pieces in my wardrobe, last worn a year ago!

Last worn: black lace dress, Hermes twilly, House of Harlow necklace, Walnut Melbourne flats, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag.

DressJeanswest tucked ponte black dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony

Why I wore it:

Unlike the lace dress above, this classic fit and flare dress is frequently worn to the office. It's the perfect style and length and always looks good! Sometimes I like to wear a belt with it. I decided to try something a little different with my leaf print scarf and tied it as a belt around my waist. I folded the scarf over a few times, wrapped it around, and then tucked the ends back into the scarf at the back. As the dress is a thick ribbed ponte fabric, it held in place perfectly through the day.

While I think the scarf and the small Darren bag added a great touch of colour with the dress, I couldn't resist adding just a little more with this statement necklace. The colours really popped against the black, and I was feeling very confident and happy with my outfit when I stepped out of the house. Only to quickly realise on my way to work that a braided hairstyle and this crystal necklace don't work so well together. The necklace kept getting caught rather painfully in my braid through the day! Will definitely be wearing this necklace and dress together again in future, but maybe not with my hair tied so close to it 😂

Last worn: black fit and flare dress, leaf print scarf, statement crystal necklace, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag (above).

Other ways to wearblack fit and flare dress in winter, leaf print scarf and skinny jeans, silver ballet flats and purple jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag with peplum tank.

Black Dresses Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A little black dress is a frequently recommended style staple. It is a classic piece to have for work. It's easy to change it up a little each time you wear it with different accessories, and to add a touch of colour. You can stick with a colourful bag like I have here, or try something a little different and add a scarf as well. You can drape a scarf over your neck or try an alternative way to wear it, like as a headband or wrapped around your waist like a belt.

Plain Tees and Printed Maxi Skirts With Rebecca Minkoff Bags

When the heat hits, I look for simple easy outfits that don't have any unnecessary layers. A plain tee and a printed maxi skirt is simple summer style. And spring style, as I wore these a few weeks ago when it was still spring!

What I wore:

plain black tee, billabong boho printed red maxi skirt, rebecca minkoff sandals saddle bag SAHM Style | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red | awayfromtheblue

TeeAtmos & Here black essential v-neck tee
Skirt: thrifted Billabong red printed maxi skirt

BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (on sale in blue!)

Why I wore it:

I adore this skirt so much and it was the first one that came to mind when picking an outfit to wear to meet Sasha. It's so light in the heat and swishes beautifully when you walk, kind of creating its own breeze. The day was forecast to be extremely hot, so we ended up spending more time indoors than anticipated.

Sasha is another Brisbane blogger and while she lives a little distance away from me, we caught up at a mid point in the city, at the state library. The cafe there was lovely and very quiet until I showed up with the boys! In the end we ducked into the kids play area at the library so the boys could run around a little more and we could continue chatting. Always so nice meeting another blogging friend in person, even more so when they are as interesting as Sasha. We spoke for a couple of hours, which seemed to be over in a few minutes, before I took the boys for lunch in the city and headed home.

Keeping things simple with the outfit, I went with a neutral black tee, a red bag to match the red skirt, and my latest necklace purchase to match the gold hardware on the bag. You can see why I enjoy Sasha's blog so much, we have very similar style! Thanks to Mr 4 who kindly took the photo for us.

Why I wore it:

Thankfully this day wasn't as hot as the one above. As you can see, there was even a bit of a breeze! I kept to the simple outfit formula I'd liked so much above, going a little more colourful this time with the basic red tee and navy striped maxi skirt. I accessorised with the baby friendly necklace as we spent the morning at our local ABA group, the topic was baby / toddler massage.

The last time I did a baby massage class my now 2 and a half year old was a tiny little 3 week old, so I was really looking forward to it! I went in with two very eager to help little boys, which quickly turned into me chasing kids around the room in between attempting to practice the massage techniques. I definitely don't do the massage techniques as often as I should, but there are so many benefits to it so I'm going to try do it more often. It's a lot more fun to do when the boys are big enough to give feedback on what they like too!

Stuck with this neutral Rebecca Minkoff Love bag as I still had it out after wearing it a few days before and the grey was a good pairing with the brighter red and navy outfit.

Printed Maxi Skirts Under $50:

How You Can Wear It

Printed maxi skirts can be a little daunting as they are such large pieces of print! You can keep things easy and simple by picking a plain tee to wear with them. You can go with a neutral black like I did in the first outfit, or try something different and add a little more colour like in the second outfit. You can't go wrong pairing a plain basic with a fun printed piece!
